support local music before its gone -forever
Posted:

Mr. Doom & Gloom, not even close. I don't hide and I don't have a basement. I just don't have my head in the sand as to why our local, small businesses are struggling right now.
And you're right...there are alot of things people can do that doesn't cost alot of money. But when you start saying things like "for no more than the price of a coke or a beer" it can tend to make people feel bad as to the fact that some members of our community truely can't spend money on different types of luxuries that they once could.
It sounds like we both enjoy and can afford those luxuries, but let's have some compassion for those that can not. And not try to lambaste them for not filling the local pubs anymore or pretending the problems do not exist by not being informed of the problems facing our state.
We'll probably have to agree to disagree on this issue so...have one of these on me
Cheers! And let's hope things get better for our neighbors.

I doubt it has anything to do with wanting or not wanting to hear live music. It has to do with the ECONOMY. With unemployment claims rising to numbers we haven't seen in years and so many people that are on the verge of losing their homes; they can't afford the cost of a coke or a beer. Or they have decided to eliminate those types of expenses so they can feed their children.
Do you really think those in our community that are facing the hardships I just mentioned are really concerned w/ the dilema mentioned in your post? Yeah, I'm sure they're losing sleep over it.

Jadyn07... don't believe everything you read in the AZ Republic. Bars ARE losing money all across the state, and this ban is VERY much effecting the livelyhood of alot of businesses. Now, I'm not saying that Axis/Radius will close it's doors tomorrow, but that samll pub on the corner could.

suggestions on removing the labels off old wine bottles
Posted:
7/28/2007 1:31:59 PM
There is a solvent called "DISOLV-IT". I don't know if it is still on the market or not, as the last bottle I bought has lasted a decade or so (a little, goes a long way). Works great for removing glue and adhesives. I use it for removing the gunky stuff that remains under labels. It is/was sold in a clear plastic bottle, blue label, the liquid is kind of yellow, and smells of lemon. Moms -it works great for removing gum, as well. I hope this helps.
Edit: I just googled it. It's actually spelled " De-Solv-it Citrus Solution".

This topic was covered in a Seinfeld episode... Jerry had to explain to Kramer that he needed a "buffer seat" between the two of them during the movie. When Kramer asked why, Jerry said, " If we were watching a movie at my house, would you sit right next to me on the couch? "

I don't think those invention companies are scams, but you do need to read the fine print (as with anyting). They do require alot of money up front to get the ball rolling for you. And you may own the patent for your invention but they get the licensing and all other rights to your invention. It's not hard to get a patent on your own and to have a young upsart engineering co. working with you. Good Luck!

OK people... Here's our first POF Party!!!
Hopefully this will satisfy the people who want a quiet place to sip a glass of wine and for the people who want to listen to a live band. The place is called "Salute Italian Ristorante". It is located @ Desert Ridge MarketPlace (101 and Tatum BLVD). It's 10-15 minutes from Glendale/Peoria and 10-15 minutes from Tempe/Mesa if you use the 101. Should make everyone happy being a middle meeting place.
The place is divided half bar/half restaurant with a decent band playing on the mall's stage just outside of the restaurant's patio. So, you can belly up to the bar, grab a table, make a few friends and have dinner, or hang on the patio and mingle and listen to the band.
Desert Ridge MarketPlace also has a ton of other restaurants/bars if we get bored (or if you meet a special someone and want to be alone).
OK... That's it...This Friday 10/27/06...8:00PM...(Friday because alot of people are having Halloween Parties Saturday night)
Feel free to drop me a line if you have any ?'s. And I will work on getting us some specials on drinks and appetizers so, a heads up of who really wants to attend would be very helpful.
Anyway...thats my attempt to get the ball rolling.

I think what alot of people tend to forget, I am referring to the little/no tippers, is that the restaurant is providing YOU a service. Granted it is your money paying for the meal, those restaurant employees are providing YOU a service.
You're not setting the table.
You're not cooking the meal.
You're not cleaning up after the meal.
You're not doing the dishes.
"Why should I tip?".... Because people are SERVING you.
"If they don't like making min. wage they should quit."... If every service person quits because of cheapos like you, who's going to serve your lazy a$$.
Tipping servers & bartenders is now customary. Unless your service was that horrific, by all means tip accordingly; and complain to managment.

^^^ Yes...and the store clerk is always going to make $10.65 per hour...no matter what. That dept. store sales assoc. is always going to make $10.50 per hour...no matter what. That janitor is always going to make $10.00 per hour...no matter what. Those above employees are not depending on a busy night...they are not dependent on a busy shift... Those above employees probably work 8-10 hour shifts regardless of how busy their shift is... (service people get sent home if it is a slow shift, they may only get to work 2-3 hours a day).

^^^ I'd have a server deliver you a clue...but you'd probably send it back.
Ofcourse, it would be great if every restaurant paid their servers what they are worth. I'd love to pay all servers $15.00 an hour, but if I did, I would no longer have a restaurant to run. There is alot of overhead in owning/running a restaurant. If all servers recieved a high hourly wage...you wouldn't want to eat at said restaurant...Would you want to pay $12.00 for a glass of iced tea? That's what would happen... all menu prices would have to get jacked up... in order to pay servers what they are worth. As far as the comment about "being a waitperson takes no skill"... grow up.

How did he get involved with Robin Masters??? Why Hawaii??? How did his buddies ( Rick, T.C.) settle in Hawaii as well??? And while we're at it best episode "Infinity and Jelly Doughnuts".
