US used Biological Warfare to Exterminate & Win the Indian Wars!

Shrugs. I knew that.
And when they exterminated the Indians, Communism became the enemy. When Communism faded, Islam was the new enemy.
Some people need enemies. Without something to hate and kill they have no purpose in their lives.

I'm expecting that.
What the Constitutionalists forget is that the Founding Fathers were extraordinary individuals with great learning, wisdom and vision.
The current crop of Constitutionalists, what I've seen of them, not so much.
They'd be more like the Taliban than Washington, Jefferson, et al.

No more than I trust the business community.

$10 U.S. says that this will wind it's way down to either Iraq or Palistine. To answer the question, ever see the movie Red Dawn?
If Red Dawn had not been an American movie about American partisans fighting Russians and Cubans in WWIII it could easily have been a Russian movie about Russian partisans fighting Germans and Romanians in WWII.
As to the original question, I'd do just what the Iraqis are doing now. And what the Afghans did to the Russians. And what the Vietnamese did to the U.S. Fight with every tool at my disposal, save weapons of mass destruction, until it becomes obvious to the occupying power that it's just not worth their while to stay. They have a place to run to.
Anyway, Russia currently doesn't have the power projection to conquer a nation in North America. Let's keep our paranoia vaguely within the borders of reality, shall we?

Third Hand Smoke - The Ghost of Cigarettes Past

Man. The Great North American Neurosis strikes again.
We simply cannot deal with the fact that we're going to die. It offends our sense of 'the most powerful culture that has ever existed'. And along comes death and it shows us just how powerless we are.
So, rather than accept that, we go into a frenzy of 'eating right, exercising properly and eliminating
anything
that might affect our health'. All in the false hope that we can live forever like the Gods we believe ourselves to be.

I'm a dominant and I'd never slap a woman in the face, sub or not.
To me it has to do with the difference between hurt and harm. Warming up a sub's bottom with a flogger will hurt but it isn't intended to harm them. Hitting someone in the face
is
intended to harm them. And I'd have to question the motivations of someone who wanted to be harmed.
Safe, sane and consensual are the watchwords in any form of D/s.

psychological explanation for atheism
Posted:
12/27/2008 6:32:31 PM
With all due respect, that's NOT what (most) atheists say, including myself. I have never once claimed that there was no god(s) or that I know anything that cannot be known or proven. I simply LACK the belief in god(s), which is NOT the same thing as saying that there is/are no god(s). Big difference. HUGE difference.
If that's the case I'd call you an agnostic rather than an atheist.
atheism |ˌeɪθɪɪz(ə)m|
noun
the theory or belief that God does not exist.
This is from the Oxford Dictionary and has been my understanding of atheism.
I lack the faith to pick one side or the other as well.
Shrugs. Anyway, as always, how a person acts is far more important than what they believe.

psychological explanation for atheism
Posted:
12/27/2008 12:54:30 PM
Belief and atheism are the two sides to the coin of faith. One side says 'There is a God, Allah to Zeus, take your pick." The other says "There isn't."
Neither is provable except through rhetoric. Both require faith, faith that things are as they are claimed to be.
It's why the believers and the atheists denigrate each other so. They're trying to occupy the same philosophical space.

psychological explanation for atheism
Posted:

People are believers for the same reason they are atheists. It helps them place an order on the universe that makes the universe understandable. It enables the person to makes decisions on how to act in a situation.
The problem is that both sorts of belief systems tend to transform into ideologies. And ideologies are not about being good but about being right.
Then the trouble starts.

That's funny, sabre. Those wonderful 'landlocked states where the buffalo roam' are highly dependent on the coastal states for survival. They receive far more in revenue from the federal government than they pay in taxes. Their children born out of wedlock stats are higher, their violent crime stats are higher, their divorce stats are higher.
You've obviously found a meaning for the phrase 'independent and responsible' that I hadn't considered before.
On topic personally my experience with people who complain about a 'sense of entitlement' are really complaining about other people infringing on their sense of entitlement. It's the modern way of saying 'Let them eat cake.'

Unfortunately, yes.
There is one woman I know. Not on POF. Way out of my league. An executive with an international company. A Masters in History. World traveler and oenophile. Extraordinarily well read and smarter than any other two people in the room. Drop dead gorgeous too.
Me? High school dropout who lives on a disability and the small royalties I make for my writing.
Plus she's not single.
Sigh.

I enjoyed it very much.
Although I still prefer Nicholson's Joker Ledger took the character in an interesting direction that was very entertaining.
There were a few plot twists that got me. One you rarely see in a Hollywood film, one that surprised me and one that was very Hollywood but still made me smile.
Highly recommended.

If you make her cum orally shouldn't she return the favor?
Posted:
12/12/2008 12:12:13 PM
In this modern age of equality if you can make your woman cum orally and there is no attempt to reciprocate are you obligated to continue in the future? If you are a gentleman and make her orgasm first and even second should there be any gold at the end or your rainbow?
It's not a favor. It's a pleasure. She's not obligated in anyway to do this and if you insist you're treating her like property instead of a lover.

Does career/position in life play a role?
Posted:
12/10/2008 4:21:15 AM
Generally, are people less inclined to message those who do not have as high an education, are in transitional periods, or not as 'prestigious' a career as theirs?
Also, do you feel more intimidated to message a person who has, say.. A bachelor's degree, is an engineer, or a business owner etc.?
Oh yes. We're a religious society and our religion is economics.
So, like in the Middle Ages, a person's faith is important. In the Middle Ages a person showed their faith by going to church, paying their tithes, speaking constantly of God and going on Crusades.
Now we show our faith by going to higher education, pursuing a career and speaking constantly of capitalism. Luckily we've gotten out of the habit of going on Crusades, for the most part.
Am I intimidated to send messages to a person better educated than me? No. I am intimidated by the fact that they'll most likely judge me by the standards of the faith. And by those I don't measure up.
I chose the handle 'heretic' for a very specific reason.

Good one, bucsgirl.
Ultimately our problems are not problems of regulation, or law, or structure. They are problems of ethics.
The people at the top are unwilling to say to themselves, "This would be good for me but bad for a lot of others so I won't do it."
And, sadly, most other people won't either.

there must be a moment of truth, when reasons fall away
Posted:

Like it or not, good and evil are a matter of perception. They are what you are taught or have learned to believe. There is no objective standard.
The terrorists in Mumbai did not believe they were doing an evil thing. They believed they were doing the finest thing a person could do; killing and striking terror into their enemies.
One thing I can say, evil is always certain of itself. Hitler was certain he was doing the good thing. Stalin believed the same. General Pinochet never had a moment's unease over the people he had killed. Neither did Pol Pot. The people that flew the planes into the towers never doubted that they were doing the right thing. Timothy McVeigh knew that what he did was good.
Goodness is based on doubt. Evil on certainty.
