What do you think about Vegas
Posted:
6/14/2007 10:26:13 PM
....but I asked specific questions regarding the high rises and such...
The high rises are for the rich. If you bring in $150,000 a year, I don't see how you can afford to live in one. Those payments are going to kill you with interst rates still going up.
I suspect the majority of the the high rise purchases are done by investors.
They rent them out and make someone else pay for them. When it is paid off, they can retire in one. Or, they can sell them off and make a nice profit.
High rises remind me too much of New York City.
That's why I moved out here to the open spaces which, are not so open anymore.
The construction dust is in the air every day and the EPA is doing nothing to help keep the air clean in Las Vegas and corruption in the government agencies is way out of hand. To me it looks like, given enough $$$$$ anyone can be bought in this town. It's just a matter of how much will it cost! The bribe money is just a part of doing business in Las Vegas, as they say.
Yep! Bring in all those suckers from out of town. Take their money, their homes, their cars, have them run up a pile of debt and then send them packing from whence they came. You don't build these casinos and high rises on your money but, you do it with other peoples money.
Remember, Vegas is based on a "Growth" economy.
You have to keep growing - more homes, more condos, more construction projects, etc. - to keep ahead of the cliff ahead. It's like Social Security - the younger people are paying for the current retirees, the Social Security bank of retirement money is a sham. I just listened to a lecture on Social Security by their PR person last week and was told - "Social Security was never ment to be a retirement fund".
.......... Sorry...... went off topic for a bit there.
High rises are good for the construction trade
and the real estate people selling the condos.
They make their money, then spend it in the casinos and bars
. Or they buy them big pickup trucks and SUV's to drive to work and tailgate you
out on the highways while talking on their cell phones
or text messaging.
Is it good for Las Vegas in the long run?
I don't think so.........
I will step down off my soap box now......

What do you think about Vegas
Posted:

I first moved here in February, 1974 and it was a much different place than it is now.
There were no home West of the I-15, except in the downtown area.
W. Tropicana Ave and W. Spring Mtn Road were 2 lanes and ended at S. Decatur.
W. Flamingo Road did not exsist.
The original MGM was not open yet.
I saw Frankie Valie and the Four Seasons in the Lounge of the Flamingo Hotel for $5 and it included 2 drinks.
The ticket price to see Elvis at the Hilton was around $15-20 and included 2 drinks.
The tallest building was the Las Vegas Hilton.
There was nothing south of the Tropicana Hotel on the strip, except the airport.
You could get a breakfast, including coffee, for $.49 at the Silver Slipper (a hotel that was next to the Frontier Hotel, which didn't have a hotel tower).
The whole town had only 225,000 people.
If you went to DI & Boulder Highway, you were in the desert.
Spring Valley was the first big housing development west of the I-15.
If you were in a gang, you were in the Mob!
You could walk the streets at night and not worry about crime (the mob made sure the town was safe).
You could buy a nice 3 bedroom house with a 2 car garage for about $29,000.
Homes in Green Valley, on the Green Valley golf course, were starting at $35-40,000.
I believe the gas prices were around $.35 a gallon.
The I-15 route was poorly laid out and had to do with special interests wanting the highway to go the way that it did. The same is true for the 215 Beltway plan and layout.
The airport has outgrown it's space and a new airport should be built as quickly as possible, put on the fast track.
Allowing developers to block off streets, so their developments have a few more homes, has caused major issues with getting around town. Many of the alternate routes become dead ends.
Road planning stinks and the RTC - "FAST" traffic signals are not in sync to keep traffic moving.
All trucks should be banned fromthe left 2 lanes on I-15. They tear up the roads, drop stuff and think their the only ones on the road.
We don't have enough water for all the building and they keep saying you can't have an economy based on endless growth. They jack up the water rates to make you conserve water, not because it costs more to deliver it.
Growth is not paying for itself. Everyone is paying for the new growth through increases in utility rates - electric, gas and water.
It's getting to be time to move out to a smaller town.
How's that for starters?

Once we find it, can we keep it....love?

I have to agree with - Those who know the way
You have to go through the self testing exercises in the book to understand why you do the things you do. Why you act the way you do and how you can change your ways.
It's a two way relationship.
If you want things to work, you both have to want to make it work
.
Don't rely on the other person to make you happy
.
I believe we all want happiness and not frustration
in our lives.
We seek it out.
We hunt through the singles pages trying to find it, day after day.
Where is that Mr. Wonderful to share my dreams
?
Where is that women of my dreams
?
Then we find someone, date a few times and say to ourselves - their OK but, not what I want to live with the rest of my life. There MUST be someone out there that is better
than the one I have found! And we continue our search..........
I have been married 3 times. Each time I believed it would be forever.........
After reading parts of "Keeping the Love You Find" by Harville Hendrix and doing the exercises, I know now that I have done things that contributed to the end of the marriages. I can also see how the fears I have developed from their actions caused me to move away from the relationships instead of working things out
.
I am still growing with knowledge on relationships, day by day...............
The Plentyoffish Jung's typology (personality) test that I took yesterday, gave me a little more insight into how I look at life and others
. I would recommend that everyone take it to gain some insight
.
Best of luck to all of the
here looking for happiness in this pond

Love Red Roses Dating Site is not really Free
Posted:

I went to my Sent Messages page and noticed an Ad for another Free Dating Service.
I went through the questions and signed up only to find that you could only Look for Free once you were approved. Once approved you could send kisses, but access to E-Mails were at a higher Membership Level with a "Service Fee".
Bottom Line - It's not a "Free" Dating Service like here at PlentyofFish.
It's a come on to get you to subscribe
- once you become a "Member".

O.K. Boys & Girls,
Time for an informal
get together and put on your dancing shoes.
Those who want to have some fun, come on out!
I found out that "True Passion: has a gig
scheduled at Bugsy's Supper Club coming up on May 26, 20076 at 9:00 PM.
They are scheduled to play every Saturday night at this time.
Bugsy's Supper Club
6145 W Sahara Ave # 1
Las Vegas, NV 89146
(702) 871-7194
You know them from a past Fish gathering so, you can expect more of the same good music and dancing
. This place is a little nicer than the regular bars of the past. I hear they have a large dance floor and the place has been enlarged.
Bugsy's is located on the Southwest corner of S. Jones Blvd. & W. Sahara Ave.
Google the address for a map.
I hope to see you out there!

Invited a woman to drive 60 miles to meet for a cup of coffee !!
Posted:

O.K. lets see here - Your 49 years old and single. I classify you as a mature adult.
I believe there are two points you are making in your statement as an adult:
1st
To elaborate.....
This was to be a first meeting and if I am going to monopolize my Saturday with meeting someone
So you must be a very busy women on Saturdays and have no time for anyone else.
2nd
and drive over an hour I would think a dinner or lunch would be more worth my time and energy.
So like you think this guy owes you something for your driving time?
Do you think your statement about your feelings will attact more men to you?
When I wanted to meet someone special I have taken the time to drive 180 miles, each way on a Saturday, to see someone I wanted to know better. When we went out to dance we split the cost for drinks, because that was the way she wanted it. She was insistant and I respected her feelings on the matter, even though I told her I wanted to pick up the drinks. I believe she respected the fact that I had taken the time and gas expence to drive the distance to meet her. She wanted to be fair with me and I have a great respect for her stance.
Do you want a life partner or not?

Am I being too picky? Are we all being too picky?
Posted:

You're only emailing certain attractive women, but the fact is that hundreds of men who are more attractive than you are emailing the same women.
It's all about attacting a mate, primitive instinct at work here.
Men are looking for attractive healthy females for mating and passing on their gene pool
.
Women are looking for security and a protector in life.
So if you don't appear to have good healthy genes and look like a good protector or a good supporter/hunter for them, they are going to move on to someone else who fits the profile. Or should I say "their standards".
Yes, both men and women are picky in their own way.
It doesn't make it bad, it's just the way life works in the human jungle and this pond
.
Before I meet someone I like to chat and see what kind of person they are by reading their replies to my messages. I do a little
for information to see what kind of person they are and how they think and react to questions. Some women are just off the wall and come unglued, better to find that out before you schedule a meeting.
If I find they are attractive in what they have to say and they peek my interest, then I will do the phone call and the one-on-one meeting to see if things click!
There are some real women out there.
However, they are also very hard to find.
I don't think the real women put in their Profile -> I have my passport ready, I like dinner at a fancy place, I like lobster, I like to go to shows, etc.
It's all about me...me...me.. I want....I want...I want...
It just appears to me like they are out for a good time (for now
) and not serious about a relationship.

Has money, but you wouldn't know it.

You have to be careful these days. You never know what the other person is thinking and what they may have up the sleve when they say "I Do".
My last wife
was taking money out of my checking and savings accounts and she was moving my money into a secret joint accounts that was shared with her daughter. I didn't catch on to this until I was going through the checking account statements and cancelled checks during the divorce
.
I never divulge my financial status to anyone I date for this reason. There are many sharks lurking in the pond.
I don't blame the guy for holding back his financial information. Then again if I had as much money as he say's he has, I think I would be swimming
with a different school of fish.
If someone is going to like you for being you, sometimes you need to keep the bling out of sight.
You know how some fish, as well as sharks, are attacted to shiny things.

I wonder how much this guy is payed to promo the band. every message has thier name attached to it....lol
The answer to that question is NOTHING!
I think they are a good little group and I enjoy dancing to their music. So do some of the other Fish in Las Vegas. You should stop by and listen to them sometime.
If you know of some other bands that are good or other Nightlife at no cost, I would suggest you post the information for all of us here.

younger men and older women
Posted:
12/3/2006 12:27:55 PM
I have been married to 2 older women dated one in the past and now I'm dating an older women again.
I am not sure why I am attracted to the older women, maybe it's because their kids are grown now and have moved out.
So it is like meeting them again before they had kids.
The "New Virgins" for those of us over 50 years old.
Most had their kids around 20 yeras old, their kids "Should have moved out" by 30 years old, thus the 50 year old mark..........
These older women now have their child rearing years behind them so, it's a wild party time again and they want to get out and explore the new world for some. (At least for those that are active and want to feel young).
I would take an older women that shows interest in me over a younger women that has a so-so attraction and looks like she does not know what she wants. I have run into quite a few profiles that say they want Mr. Wonderful but, I BELIEVE THAT, they wouldn't know him if they tripped over him.
How much older is too old? Good question!
I have been with one women 10 years older for a short time.
Then the age difference started to affect me when she started talking about a facelift. Her friend got one and it made her look worse than if she didn't have it.
So it all depends on the women your attracted to in life.
Some look older than their age (I think it is because they lie about their age on Fish), some look old because of their past lifestyle.
So I think the answer is ...... Do I find her attractive? Does she find me attractive? Do things click between us? ...... If yes...... go for it!

I found this place a few weeks ago through an ad in the Southwest View newspaper.
It's a new restaurant on the West Side, it has only been open 6 weeks now.
HB's Italian Restaurant & Bar at 6820 W. Flamingo Road & S. Rainbow Blvd (702) 221-8884.
It's located across the street from Leslie's Pool Supplies and Fat Burger (north side of the street).
Last night (Sat@ 9 pm) they had a blues group called "Po Boys" and Thursday night they had a group called "True Passion" playing. Two awsome groups.
"True Passion" is with Bob Stewart (3rd cousin to Rod Stewart).
In person he looks like a mix of Rod Stewart and Robin Williams. Jo Rae, his wife, does a variety of songs and can knock a Celine song out like I have never heard before.
You will not be disappointed coming out to see this group.
Here is the web site to check them out -> http://www.rodstewart1.com
"True Passion" will be playing at HB's again the next 3 Thursday nights in October.
Then again at HB's on a Friday night, November 10, 2006.
They start their show at 8:00 pm.
"True Passion" will be playing at Mr D's Sportsbar & Grill at 1810 S. Rainbow (at W. Oakey Blvd) next Saturday night (October 7th), starting around 9:00 pm.
HB's Italian Restaurant & Bar is having a Rock Band and a Costume Contest for Halloween, Saturday October 28, 2006. I don't have an exact time but, you can call the bar at (702) 221-8884 for details and times for their events.
They have "Karaoke" on Tuesday nights and "Open Mic" on Wednesday nights, I understand it is becoming very popular.
HB's has seating for 92 people and the owners said to invite everyone! So I am!
Lots of tables and booths to sit in and nice comfortable surroundings.
They do not have slots yet but, they are working on it.
They will have $1.50 darfts during the Sunday game today and Burbon Wings $?.??.

I found some places to go before turning into a pumpkin!
HB's Italian Restaurant & Bar at 6820 W. Flamingo Road & S. Rainbow.
A new restaurant on the West Side, it has only been open 6 weeks now.
Tonight they had a group called "True Passion" playing. Awsome group.
They have just moved from Florida and have been here only 3 weeks.
I was told this group is currently being signed to play on the Strip, so hear them before they move down to the Las Vegas Showrooms.
Bob Stewart sings Rod Stewart songs and (I was told by the bar owner) is a blood relationship with Rod Stewart. He does look like a cousin of Rod Stewart. Jo Rae, his wife, does a variety of songs and can knock a Celine song out like I have never heard before.
You will not be disappointed coming out to see this group.
Jo Rae and Bob are both very nice people.
"True Passion" will be playing at HB's again for the next 3 Thursday nights.
Then again at HB's on a Friday night, November 10, 2006.
They start at 8:00 pm for all those interested.
I plan on being there on Thursday at 8 pm.
I believe they will also be playing at Mr D's on S. Rainbow this Saturday night (September 30th), starting around 9:00 pm.
HB's Italian Restaurant & Bar is having a Rock Band
and a Costume Contest for Halloween, Saturday October 28, 2006. I don't have an exact time but, you can call the bar at (702) 221-8884 for details and times for their events.

Karaoke on Thursday nights at 8 pm.
HB's has seating for 92 people and the owners said to invite everyone! So I am!
See you at HB's.
The Red Rock Casino has Do Wop and dancing on Sunday nights at 7:00 pm.
You may want to call or check the Red Rock Web site to check if Do Wop is still playing before you go.
The Suncoast had dancing to the Do Wop group playing on Tuesday Nights at 7:30 pm. I understand they will now have a different group playing on Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm. Check with the Suncaost before you go to see who is playing.
The Gold Coast Casino has a band
on Friday and Saturday nights at 9:00 pm in the lounge. You may want to check on the band before you go. The dance floor is usually very full and all the seating is always full.

Havefunto,
lOU UNLESS U HEARD THE CONVERSATION ONE SHOULD KEEP HIS VIEWS TO HIMSELF...
Stop SCREAMING & YELLING........ we can all understand what you have to say in lower case.
No, I was not part of the conversation.
Nor, did I attend the event.
I was just making an observation on how mslulu
was SHOUTING her ANGER
on this forum topic. It would appear to me you have a little anger yourself
the way YOU POST replies here.
Life is NOT fair all the time and
to all of us.
Sometimes we are cheated out what we believe we should get or have a chance to obtain.
That's the way it works in the real world.
It appears the details of the event have come to light and everyone is satisfied with the results.
It's time to move on to another topic.
Next!

Softedge,
Keep up the good posts on this Forum.
I think you have it right.
mslulu needs to cool down a bit.
You can find out allot about a persons personality by the way they write and post messages on the Forum. That is why I enjoy reading the posts.
Women can be as sweet as you are Softedge
or as harsh as mslulu
mslulu is not someone I would want to get involved with on a long term basis.
let alone marry.
She looks sweet in her picture but I bet she is a real
to live with.
Just my 2 cents on the post here.

Will all the nice guys stop asking why we dont want them!
Posted:
12/5/2005 2:51:50 PM
Redviking - I have to agree with you.
Bottom Line - Guys have to work at the attraction
of the Female.
The women get to pick
and choose at their will who they want to date and why.
Attraction Technique:
Take them out for a good time
, have fun
, dinners
, lunches, trips
, etc. They love it
and why not? They have all this attention
from good looking men
showing up in their inbox and men handing them free gifts
. What is not to like about that part from their side.
Issue:
When another sweet talker comes along (and it could be all bull.... and lies) who, appears to have more money to splurge
on them and take them on FREE TRIPS
, it's the - "I feel we have nothing in common" brush-off
Sorry!
Result:
The nice guys get taken by women who are just out to have a good time
. I'd bet that some women don't care what the guys look like, they just need some slight attraction to them; and then they are off to plays, movies, rock concerts, cruises, vacations, dinners
and drinks
. Where, the guys are ALWAYS expected to pay the tab
for the women. Otherwise, the guys are thought of as being cheap
and undesirable as a mate
.
Summary:
If you gals want to be so "equal" in this world then, take us guys out on the town and show us a good time
- what do you women have to offer us guys as a possible future wife?
The women are always looking for that "Nice Guy", "Honest Man", etc in their profile. I think they all have that same dream, want it, and don't know when to stop looking at more profiles. They are always looking for something better and dating more than one guy at the same time. Not to say the guys don't do the same thing looking for that hot gal to pop a message into their inbox.
This nice guy
is done playing your no-win game ladies

Maybe it's because most of us have day jobs and can't fall asleep
at work.
Nightlife for me is 6 PM -12 PM
and most of the bands
don't start until 10 PM or 11 PM in this town. Getting up for work around 5:30 AM
and staying up past Midnight
doesn't leave much time for sleep.
If your looking for some night life try Tommy Rockers on the weekends
at 10 PM
or the casino lounge.
I think there is a niche market for those of us 50 and older. The Baby Boomers have some money, the kids are gone and we are willing to spend some money on entertainment. But, that entertainment has to fall within the hours we are awake.
If anyone knows of any places in the Las Vegas Valley, please post them here.

question for the males?
Posted:
6/27/2005 5:43:25 PM
Everyone is different when it come to how old is the perfect women.
It is a difficult question to answer.
I dated a much older women 8 years ago and found there was a problem in the relationship.
More of a problem when they start taking about a face lift.
Think about natural beauty girls!
I prefer to date women who looks 5 years younger than her actual age.
I dated only one gal that was around 10 years younger at age 45. I didn't want to look like my dates father. I gravatate towards women that are no more than around 5 years younger from my age and not more than two years older than myself. That is my current comfort age zone.
I feel the closer the womens age is to my age; the better we can relate to events, music and culture in the past.
Women who like to tan themselves too much
tend to look much older than their actual age.
I think it is due to the dryness of the skin, from being out in the sun too long, has taken its' toll on their natural beauty.

what turns guys off on a woman's appearance?
Posted:
6/17/2005 1:41:34 PM
Heavy makeup is a turn off - I prefer none, over the 1/8" makeup power base some women use. Also, I don't find heavy eye liner and gloss lipstick attractive.
I prefer women who look younger than their actual age. So, I see the gals with no makeup, clean skin and natural lipstick as very attractive.
Being overweight to an extreme - flab is a real turn off.
In general -> They say men are looking for women who are like their mothers. Women are looking for men who are like their fathers.
Bottom line -> Men are looking for healthy breeding women to cary on their gene pool. It's a natural psychological subconscious instinct.

Hi! I'm Lou.
I moved to Las Vegas in 1974 - boy have there been changes in this valley over the years.
The first model homes were being built out in Green Valley and there was nothing west of I-15 or south of the airport - Population 225,000 at that time.
I hate the dating scene in Las Vegas
- too many
and not enough
in this town. There has to be a better way of meeting people.
Suggestion -> We can all meet up at an open event location/locations in town to say hi
to get to know each other. A no pressure event - wonder in - wonder out.
There will be a Smooth Jazz group playing at The District at Green Valley Ranch on Friday, July 1, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM. It's a free "open public area" event for those that are interested.
If you know of any events around town
, I would like to see some posts here or a on a new message string like "Las Vegas Events".

I have been through the dating scene twice before in Las Vegas.
Bad News!
I find it's difficult to find the real "honest" women in this town.
The bars are out - although everyone appears to be looking for the same thing.
I tried Match.com but that didn't work.
I keep getting updates on women that match but it appears the same ones come back up as new matches every two weeks. Most like to meet for a dinner out
, like a show on the strip
, ready to travel or drinks
. That should tell you something.
I met my last wife at a Las Vegas Singles club free lecture (safe place to meet women I thought). Things clicked and I invited her to lunch to get to know her better. I asked her my routine compatability questions about how many prior marriages she had, her educational background and degrees, religious background, did she own her own home, etc. It turned out she lied to me from day-one. That forever marriage only lasted 5 years, just until she got her last daughter married $$,$$$.
I am out there looking
- I'm walking around Target, Walmart, Sam's Club, I-Hop, Einstein's Bagels, Smiths, Albertsons, Baja Fresh, Borders, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes, Dillards, a church group every week and at UNLV.
Like Danny Glover say's in the movies, I'm getting to old for this shit.
I came here looking for some answers. So gals - give us good guys some hints.
Where are all the good looking single girls hiding? Girls, you got to get out of the house.
How can I meet you
if your sitting at home and - who can you trust?
