Oh I didnt let it go by me, LOL I got to Haight Ashbury in the fall of 66. Joind a commune there. The next spring I was sharing a joint with a friend when I heard on the radio that song " if your going to san francisco besure to ware flowes in your hair" . There wasnt too many people on the side walks then, but after that song within tow weeks you couldnt hardly walk down the street ther were so many people. Guess I am still a hippie type

Here is a prose that I think gos for any man, or woman for that mater..... Oh And Grezz I think this guy was a liberal LOL DESIDERATA Go placidly amid the noise and haste, And remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others, even the dull & ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud & aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing future of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue & loneliness. Beyond wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

I didnt make it to Woodstock. I had just moved from Haight Ashbury to 40 acres in the mountains in Oregon to start a commune. But I did see all the greats in the panhandle in Golden Gate park every weekend for free. Groups like the Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe, Ect. What a great time that was.......peace

OP if they criticize you for having long hair, just pass them by. You wouldnt want to be with that kind of person anyhow,lol. I had long hair in the 60's, got married, had kids. I cut it to get a job, it was way too hard to get work with long hair in the 60' and 70's. I work for my self now and I can have hair any way I want, lol.

To old to go to a bar? LOL. The tavern I go to has 20 yr olds to 80 yr olds in it. I have made friends there and my room mate is female and she gos by her self and has made many female friends there. Your never too old to go to a bar. So go and meet people and have one on me,LOL

Well ty for all your kind replys. Mom is gone now, I took care of her for 12 yrs. I was the hardest thing I have ever done, taking care of someone that has alzhimers. I have nothing but respect for thos that take care of family. too many send them off to a nurseing home.
