Everyone can make a mistake once in a while, but I proffread any message I write here or back in the world. It doesn't take that long.

Then THIS one was intentional and the others must be, too! To catch those of us who read, no doubt!

eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!!

I didn't know they were a fundamentalist religious dating site.

The founder of eHarmony has religious conviction. That does not make the service "a fundamentalist religious dating site." Don't believe everything you see on the Internet.

I remembered I put those filets in there over a week ago and they got pushed to the back of the fridge, so tonight I go home and throw away those beautiful salmon filets...

Wish I'd known that! It's been so long since I've had the O-FISH-shul Fish of my home state, I would have taken it off your hands--AND out of your fridge!

Assuming, of course, that it was wild and not farm-raised. Friends don't let friend eat farm-raised fish!!

Libraries v. bookstores
Posted: 7/25/2009 5:13:36 AM

Bookstores exist as mercenary battlegrounds serving mammon, dedicated to the ruthless control of language by the wealthy few riding on the backs of the downtrodden masses, and are arenas of hellish conflict where only the strongest survive in their quest for hard-won knowledge. In a bookstore, let loose your fierce war cry, elbow your way through the stacks and then berate the clerk at the top of your lungs to get a lower price.

Wow. Who knew....

And who knew "mammon:"
MamĀ·mon n.

1. Bible: Riches, avarice, and worldly gain personified as a false god in the New Testament.
2. Often: Material wealth regarded as having an evil influence.

Medical Terms you won't hear used in Canada

a cheap plastic bowl full of cheap toilet items I'd already brought with me, paper slippers I didn't need etc... for the princely sum of $200!!!

And you have no choice...they will charge you for it whether you take the stuff with you or not. It's where they make money because much of the actual "medical" stuff costs a lot to buy and is only USED by the patient, not used up, like toiletries are. It's a racket.

If one isn't supposed to talk in a library, does the same rule apply to a bookstore?

Presumably, the people in a library are reading something and concentrating. The same thing happens in many bookstores these days and there doesn't seem to be a librarian-type woman telling everybody to "shhhhh" in a very stern tone. How come the difference?

These are important, world-changing questions that inquiring minds want answered!

Oh yeah, they prepared me for life alright....

Clearly, you had a miserable teacher or teachers. They're the ones that should find other lines of work...like painting the white freeway lines by hand at night while the drunk drivers are out driving.

But I do not see the connection between the fact that you had miserable teachers and their salaries. Because yours sucked means that all teachers are overpaid or part of a "racket," as you say? Explain, please. And why would you go into the profession if you have such animosity?

And I am sure that you were Young Johnny Good-boy and NEVER had anything to do with how you were treated...! Heck, I know my problems in school were all my teachers' fault, too!

Interesting rejuvenated post. I wonder if he knows any that have in-service days when the students have off. I wonder if he knows any that teach classes and do extra work, such as coaching.

I, too, wonder what price one puts on the people charged by law with educating our next generation. I wonder, too, what price he puts on the teachers who taught him to write well enough to be understood. Or who taught him to type so he could manipulate the computer keyboard. Or who taught him what "rejuvenated" means.

Oh snap, I don't think he's seeing other women but clearly his behaviour indicates that he is no longer interested in me. I'm confused by the mixed signals too. For example he'll leave a message on my answering machine then when I call him back he doesn't even pick up the phone. I really have no patience for men who play games, leading a woman on and what not only to reject her in the end.

His maturity level is low. He wants the physical pleasure you bring but is unable to deal with commitment of any kind. He is not making conscious, thought-out, rational decisions. He's just thinking that, as long as you let him, he will keep pestering you. It is not worth trying to figure this out. Trust me. Do not try to save him--or you. Move on. He already has.

To do otherwise indicates what is probably an unhealthy codependency on him. And THAT will be more trouble for you as you age.

When I click on the quote on the right...it does nothing........

There's nothing to copy. It's all done through typing. First, you type the word quote inside square brackets--[ ]. Then, copy/paste what you want to quote. After that, type the word /quote inside square brackets, hit ENTER, and continue. It's simple.

Try it.

I don't know that the reasons are 'less competition' and 'yearly check for residents,' but the number of gangs and the activity has increased in the past decade or so. I think it's because more folks are moving in from all over the U.S., not so much for the 'yearly check.'

As I recall; "Meijers " was created in that area. I do believe Walmart has copied the concept of "one-stop" shopping.

The Meijer stores did, indeed, start in Grand Rapids and they did, indeed, create the "one-stop shopping" concept that everybody, including WalMart has used. Their first "box store" is still in operation at 28th and Kalamazoo.

Who remembers when they made cars in Michigan? And I think there was some manufacturing that went on, too, wasn't there?

... Kellogg's...

Actually, Kellogg makes very little of their product in the U.S. There's only one factory in Battle Creek and it's there for sentimental reasons; it is much more efficient to buy the raw materials and make the cereal all over the world.

I was just informed at the oil change place that I can't have the $19.95 special as my GM Pontiac G6 has a foreign made engine and takes a special oil filter that costs more. So much for buying American.

My daughter bought one, too, because it's "sexy." She also learned that it costs more to change the oil and to buy new tires. Apparently, the G6 takes special tires, too. So much for buying sexy American! Well, not to worry. Soon, GM will offer 3 car models. If you want "quality," we'll have to buy "foreign."

this is something that really happened a guy worked in a subway he took the mayo bottle to the restroom and jacked off in it would sneek it back out and put it on a sub he was doing this about 3 times a day this went on for about a month until a guy walked in the bathroom and met him with the mayo bottle .

Dude, you really need to find that key that makes a period! And maybe throw in a capital letter at the beginning every so often. It would be so much easier to read...and understand! Wow.

I am considering changing from dating to friends, but am not sure what the implications are. I am starting to think that maybe I am not ready for a relationship.

THAT is the implication, to me at least. "Friends" means calling you up fr your shoulder when a date has gone badly. "Dating" means there's a possible romantic future.

Dog Grooming - How to trim his nails
Posted: 7/3/2009 2:34:46 PM
I say give him the tranquilizers.

That was the reason I went to the vet this week. I asked if I could get some kind of gentle, but effective, tranquilizer. The answer was a very quick, "No." So...what to do, what to do! And yet I went to PetCo to get a vet-recommended muzzle and watched as a rather large Golden Retriever just stood there while the groomer trimmed all those black claws. Oh, BOOMER!! Can you take a lesson?!? You were THERE!

When the vet couldn't cut his nails, I just gave up, figuring a vet would know how to handle this better than I would.

I went back to the vet yesterday and approached the subject again. I spoke with another person who explained that putting the dog on a table and perhaps in unfamiliar surroundings might be a good idea. And at last resort, the tech explained, I could always bring Boomer in to them.

I then explained that I HAD brought Boomer to them and they could only do one nail. The tech was left without words. So maybe just giving up and letting Boomer bite his own dew claw is what I have to do.

You should try and learn how to get a 1500# ornery horse to allow it's feet to be trimmed, now that can be challenge!

Strangely enough, that I can do. I've been around horses most of my life and training a huge ornery horse seems like a piece of cake compared to a 90-pound bloodhound.

And hitting any animal will never happen in my house.

How bad is the dog? Is he trying to bite you, or the people doing the trimming?

He doesn't "bite" me, but he does put his teeth on my hand. I take that as a warning not to go any farther. I don't know what he did at the vets. All they said was they could only do one claw.

have the vet clinic sedate him

That was the only way his claws were clipped the last time, while he was having minor surgery. But anesthesia costs $150 per shot, so i'm not all that excited about going that route. I might ask about something like a mild-but-effective travel sedative, though. All I really need is 10 minutes or so.

I'd take the dog to the vet to get the nails done, it's inexpensive and you don't have the hassle - the vet does!

Thanks. However, I've already done that. They got one claw done before they called it quits, too.

I think it's time to call The Dog Whisperer!
