Today and Tomorrow

Today I sit and reminisce
that little girl with the sticky kiss
her name Dia, the first three letters
my little diamond in the rough
has now grown polished
she sparkles and shines
better than any material thing
a precious gem I can claim mine
tomorrow I walk her down the aisle
no white lace and beaded gown
because that was never her style
in black we three, generations
for all to see
my mother, my daughter and me

The Train Journey...a place for all tender hearts
Posted: 8/6/2009 3:44:35 AM
Whistle Stop Blues

the train departs
as well my heart
peering through the glass to view
each crystal drop of morning dew
tracing their path to the aftermath
a well of knowledge grew
restless gaze upon a new page
this book not finished yet
the cover torn
the spine forlorn
but in it no regret
onward from stop to stop
by this ticket that I own
miles of life I have seen
oh for the memories
all the places I have been
by the choices I’ve made
on these rails
I have stayed
and the train clanks
upon that old track
I turn my head
never looking back
so kindly let me be
because that next station
may be the one
that sets me free
but the light gets brighter
all the time
and I’m nowhere near
the end
of the line

Father

Father I kneel to thee
torn by your nettles pierced by your thorns
forever held in the light
I wear the cloak of righteousness
wrapped in the ribbon of your sanctity
for I remain bound to the earth
to suffer the torment of your tears
the rage of your indignation
the sorrow on the winds of change
to your charge I remain solemn
in rectitude to the bramble I languish
enduring the garret of your love
even as I suffer this barren plain
Thy candles flame shall give me strength
for if this small and insignificant flare
can flicker the radiance of your divine gift
so shall my soul upon its meeting
shine to thy splendor past regret
laying blessed in radiance eternal
if but I choose not to agonize thy illumination
but tear away restraints the yoke of my existence
walking free the key and keeper of my aura
life’s boundaries encompassing my being
while I seek my endemic path to destiny
will you not smile at the gift that flames within

Abstract Rhythms

Stone

I’m falling, I’m stone
just a wall of concrete
bonded by things I’ve said
by notes as they played
refrains to empty caverns
vacant spaces in my head

reflections in glass
shadow visions of a path
shards scrape my face
watching as life flows past
but they leave no trace
obeying the static signs
swallowing my mind

laced to souls threadbare
running in the human race
blinded my eyes don’t care
finding no solace in this place
punching through clouds of doubt
crying dust as sand pours out

so I kneel under the sun
looking at the barrel of a gun
and I fall to stone
just a wall of concrete
bonded by things I’ve said
by notes as they played
refrains to the empty caverns
vacant spaces in my head

I’m falling, I’m stone
just a wall of concrete
weighing me down

Universal Falsehood

Liquid Dreams and Clockwork magic

Blue was the color of her eyes
but birds no longer sang
within the rain
left was the mud
blue satin stained
air tasted of smoke and sweat
while chatter placed
non verbal bets

they wore the suits of men
dusty collars and hands well worn
holding court into the night
tracing melodies while neon signs
declared their right

she drank from a glass of dreams
her heart beating in echoes
searching for her fairy godmother
in a tab left on her table
pumpkins turned into coachmen
while the room lit
with crystal lies
and the tiled floor
laughed at her disguise

a shoe remained
never to be claimed
for the prince wore denim
in his castle at route ninety’s stop
dreams floated in a bottle
wishes laying in the last drop
as her heart stroked twelve

Once upon a perfect rose

Upon my heart your honor bears
pressed within this book of age
all the winsome winter air
deeply bound in roots of sage
as one by one to turn a page

lilt the sun on summer’s blooms
till moon crests a sapphire sky
tis then birds sing a resting croon
by wings of strength on air they fly
my soul sets witness whilst I sigh

autumn fell with little sound
laden echos of abandoned days
hues of fire turned to brown
a soul of gold wishing to stay
white winter’s chill had its way

deep the drifts, dawn’s pristine snow
memories grasped for simple things
a breeze whispers as the wind took toll
recalling shadows, the hint of spring
the joy, the hope life could bring

resting now in pages inset
there lay flowers grown
petals of joy in silhouette
where a heart was but a home
casting seeds so willingly sewn
secured in breath one can never own

In a well worn book the pages close
once upon a perfect rose

Trippin imagination
Posted: 3/1/2009 9:20:39 PM
What goes bump in the night? Sometimes I sit and wonder. Goose bumps burgeoning, like plump grapes on some willowy vine. See, even in the inner regions of my psyche I see more than is real. Sometimes I really scare myself. Imagination is such a powerful tool. I look at the real world and sometimes its so terrifying. Yet in my imagination the terror turns and infects the very shape of my existence. It was like that the day I met her face to face.

My Aunt had passed and a trip to the farm was planned. A jaunt outside the city far from the blaring lights and the hum of drones whizzing to and fro. Call me a city girl but the quiet of the long drive along countless fields of green and yellow covered my enthusiasm, like a quilt wrapped around my head squeezing all life’s excitement out. With the stereo blasting I soaked my brain in the electronic flow, my body reverberating with the beat. The tires kept rolling and the distance became more relevant with every mile.

Two more miles till the crossroads or so my hastily drawn directions insisted. Couldn’t be sooner for me, my backside felt like what an apple must feel coated with sticky caramel. I could write my own lyrics now, stuck on you, my curves curve with you, but that’s another story. This one has to be told, this is too important to leave in the backwoods hidden within the stands of those knotted, cloistered oaks.

The arrival the drive up the old gravel road, the sight of a shabby run down farm house, picket fence lying like discarded toothpicks. Why the hell am I here? To pay homage to someone I barely knew. Since when does a phone call once every two years make you a relation? I pulled my thoughts back through the grimy panes past the gingerbread shutters and entered.

Dark and damp my first impression as I felt along the wall for a switch. Shivers tingling up my spine sent my fingers deep into pockets, glad I hadn’t quit smoking as I searched for my trusty bic. The light sent darkened images dancing in a greying haze. My fingers started feeling the heat bite the metal edge. A candle rested on a wooden table among paper effigies crumpled and torn. The flame now pulsing on wax, my eyes became accustomed to the dim surroundings.

A noise like the tick, tock, of a rusty nail scraping wood sent me spinning in its direction. There sitting in the shadows rocking, rocking, smiling, Oh God! It was her, the pictures on my mothers night table. My mind told me no it can’t be she’s dead. Was this all a joke, a payback for never being the first to phone, the first to visit. A sick joke, my body exploded with anger. I said things I never say but in my mind all I could think of was the drive and she’s not dead. She smiled and said, " its been much too long a time, my child, we have to get to know each other your mother would have wanted that."

The word mother hit me in the gut, feelings I’d locked inside came surfacing like a bubble of air trapped in water. "Come here my child, give your Aunty a hug," and still she smiled. Yes, I went closer and closer and like a child longing for love I knelt before her my arms reaching, beseeching. Her hands clamped my shoulders like talons drawing me close. I felt warmth cascading down my face and in a daze I looked up. Her face frozen in a half laugh skin and hair caught, dangling from her blood stained teeth. I passed out!

Writhing in sheets dripping with sweat I awoke. Still shaking I turned on the lights and felt my head. Hair skin all there, heart still pumping, sighing with relief I laughed at myself. It was a nightmare. Couldn’t sleep so I turned on the tv finally dozing off to some incessant commercial. Walking dead, Corpses that live, still the thoughts played like a needle weaving time. My head jerked as the door buzzer echoed against the walls. Tired I walked over and peered through the peep hole. A man dressed in a dark suit holding a sheet of folded paper stood impatient, seemingly staring right back at me.

Buzz, Buzz, I opened the door. "Ms. Benton," he drawled in some inconceivable accent, "I have sadly the duty of informing you of your Aunt’s passing." "In her will she left everything to you." "The funeral will be this Friday at her home she is very insistent in her will that you attend." He thrust the paper in my hands and left. His shoes leaving scuffing noises echoing down the hall. As I closed the door I saw the calender hanging on the wall. My eyes zoning in on Friday the 13th. Slumping down on my old friend and companion my mind took flight. Imagination bah! I cleared my mind and started planning the trip as shivers echoed up my spine.

time fleets and the air scents of age
trees from saplings reach to the heavens
in wisdom I too stand statuesque
reaching for what I cannot see
while I wither from one I knew
somewhere in a torn page of life
my mind still renders pastels of view
the child I was the child I knew
after all this time

I am Dragon

I am red as Mars in glory
sunset in a volcanic story
eyes shine green upon the night
empress to the moon’s pale light
lips curled back for not a sound
as flames blaze pyres upon the ground
I am strength and I am weak
for if not death that you do seek
I am the rage of endless days
the yoke by which endowed my slaves
by my talons I rake my might
as I raise my wings in glorious flight
within my view the dark is pierced
I am Dragon and I am Fierce

yep been playin with dragons again off to bed flu nite nite

paint me colors I can see
radiant touch with a brush of love
billowing hope and compassion
paint it with a palette of many hues
melding into a new and brighter view
paint it with vision a complete revision
a canvas of hearts choice a united voice
masterpiece of a brand-new day
hang it on a bright blue sky
welcoming the reign of peace with a sigh
let it be a bridge to a world set free
wherever the wind blows
cover the earth with smiling souls

stopping in to leave a bite

Inamorato
how dost thy days wan?
all light but shadow to dawn
does not thou god spare a sigh?
for one lost soul that temptress is I
blood runs but by these veins
carnal of death in human remains
smiles pierced in inklings of trust
vehement to mere servings of thy lust
by thy hand thee graze the undead
my fangs taste warmth in thine dread
nigh, I will but take ye on flight
to thy pitch, most hideous of nights
thy soul no longer shall ye own
tempest to fate, finalities moan
but rise to the dusk nocturnal rest
be but one to my heart darkly blessed
by thy pulse in Hades we entwine
nightshade thy groom thou art mine

the kitty is in with a big grin
purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring to a swan
missing ya since I’ve been gone
October is the time
When I bust my butt to the grind
I’m gonna be a card today
Ace of hearts
with the customers I’ll play
till 11 pm the end of my day
then back to home with tired bones
Hallowed Ween I’ll moan
or was that a groan
Oh well back to work to sell
Or is that back to hell
Hmmmmm

Salutations from my crypt
tales unearthly in my grip
one by one the shadows fall
vapors curl as voices call
restless in the dark and the gloom
phantoms dance to an ethereal moon
sepulchral this land of bones
harken to the ghostly moans
chains rattle to set the tone
haunted are these tombs of stone
opening doors to a spectral mind
nightmares of an uncanny kind

Yheow!.... one up from a meow

Courtesan of the Night

breath now devoid of light
to gods of marble I dance tonight
for you see within my ecstasy
my life my soul I give to Thee
waters tomb caresses me
licks my skin so greedily
the silken brush the currents thrust
speak only to my bodies lust
to the beat of this subaqueous grave
in death I now become your slave

Aries Firestorm

a crown of flickering fire I wear
for sunset adorns my auburn hair
It is from first cries I sing my song
for I was born of Avalon
in human form vehemence tamed
lest not inherent passions flame
for in their sight I crest the night
pyres of illumination of all that’s right
far gone is now those days of stories told
when dragons roamed the cliffs of old
heed thy call as my soul’s inferno sings
spread in the beating of my mighty wings
too long a martyr of my deliverance
unto your realm manifests my existence
athirst in omnipotent ecstasy
burning my soul eternally
beware the flames that come to be
I harken now that you behold
Aries heart of molten gold

been playin with dragons again

sharpened fangs glisten white

Rendered Ice

scarlet is how you see me
as I leave a trail of pain
your footfalls now a distance
where my amber soul had lain
a forest of emotions
angst in black and white

deep are the roots
I have no strength to fight
tears freely fall
in monochromes of grey
darkness once again
claims a fading day

brandished is a song
that shall never fingers' strum
for the heart strings of love slain
have gone and left me

Mary Mary how does your garden grow?
with all those bleached white bones row on row
you told me some are Jim’s and some are Jack’s
did you forget to cleanly stack
for I remember Fred and Gary
bone off skin you didn’t tarry
as for the others good grief my dear
your rants were worse than their fears
Mary Mary how does your garden grow?
Did you not think to plant down below?
its plain to see directions are not for you
the****e shells and silver bells lie askew
in dainty rest beside the men you slew
now the maidens sit row by row
as I return your blood drenched hoe

hey gf...one of my tombstones off...

Mystic's Heart

as ancients chant
the tome manifest
take my hand
in hues of splendor
halcyon’s crest
through cloaks of past
sacred vellum blessed
in sub rosa sojourn
fervid Camelot’s quest

by rock and stone
for tablets atone
swell the sea laden banks
lavished in blue
in the arms of Morpheus
to sorrows sonant dream
a soul’s breath blooms
for in apples concord
envisioned are you

Merlin’s spell forthwith cast
to a love lost in lore
visions gather once more
swept upon mystical shores
harkened to eidolon lady’s song
bound to a tear laden cross
invocation’s troth
while a heart silently longs
for him who waits in Avalon

upon the sky in heavenly flight
a silken sphere of honey glazed light
true mirror of the sun’s display
in pitch amongst the stars you play

take me swiftly to your side
in nights caress the pull of the tide
melding with your essence there to dwell
by the sheltering arms of a moon cast spell

nocturnal my eyes to your glory entranced
I bid your embrace bequeathed to this dance
in reverence I sway in moon drenched sighs
blessed of your radiance oh crown of the sky

upon my soul your gleam leaves its trace

The Ascension
her gaze one of majesty adorned
an angel stood white in form
life she held in her bouquet
blood rich in many yesterdays

one by one each petal fell
to an ocean of tears on earth to dwell
while reflections cast a stair of stone
with luminescence of a soul full grown

leaving human frailties behind
she beckons in spirit to begin the climb
a light in utter radiance is known
of a glorious journey back to home

John Denver Perhaps Love lyrics
Posted: 9/18/2008 7:39:39 AM
Perhaps love is like a resting place
A shelter from the storm
It exists to give you comfort
It is there to keep you warm
And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone
The memory of love will bring you home

Perhaps love is like a window
Perhaps an open door
It invites you to come closer
It wants to show you more
And even if you lose yourself
And don't know what to do
The memory of love will see you through

Oh, Love to some is like a cloud
To some as strong as steel

For some a way of living
For some a way to feel

And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go
And some say love is everything
And some say they don't know

Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict, full of pain
Like a fire when it's cold outside
Thunder when it rains
If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true
My memories of love will be of you

And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go

And some say love is everything
Some say they don't know

Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict, full of pain
Like a fire when it's cold outside
Or thunder when it rains
If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true
My memories of love will be of you

waltz they did by autumn night
by fire they danced into the light
flickered ascension in crackling cries
utterance in worship of a pythonic sky
intensity born to passion’s pyre
a wick of vehement in red
orange caresses left unsaid
glimmering in love gold to blue
sparks of reverence arrantly infused
purged in euphoric exaltation
spellbound to a candescent view
rapture’s flames entwined the two

yet we walk another mile
and the winds seem but a dream
paths have forked in directions
to futures still unseen
to where the horizon melts in winters snow
the road to resurrection
yet with bated breath forged on a conundrum
glistening in the sun crystals of days undone
we cross that barrier and trudge the soil
existing in the toil
fasting in a soul sung journey
the requiem yet to play
left behind along the way

Sweet Blessings for your journey

you called me today and I cried
for one more cut of the knife
tainting the kiss of love’s suicide
far from home in backwoods Ohio
a ring of promise to a bright tomorrow
twas not enough for I looked deep inside
as your eyes mirrored your true disguise
the dark of your soul let me see
what I needed to set me free
I still remember your face
in the sultry touch of a lover's embrace
the words reach out and wrap me warm
as my heart remembers how it was born
now I sit and wonder Why?
Why you had to live those lies
Why your pain couldn’t let you see
what you had let yourself be
call after call
by shadows I fall
now winters come and I’ve grown some
I smile again at little things
then I hear you say
memories sometimes find a way
on a lonely day life moves on
reminiscing in a Texan’s song

well this is it hammy...know you understand my friend... thanks..

Between Worlds

The window’s view pales
grey stroked a new
the rain won’t clean
what can’t be seen
but the mind empowered
from within lifts the pane
to see brighter days
while birds sing sweetly on the other side
inch by inch it will in tendment rise
till the nectar of life claims once again
strength and courage of what remains
then by the breeze that dances
upon your shoulders unswerving
feel the thoughts that hand by hand
succor your inner stand
the sun shall shine pro re na ta
as you vindicate its glory
a chapter opened to write
the iron will to life’s etched story

Many blessings

Ghosts of Past

Shadows covet once a lucent night
dark tendrils melancholy kissed
full circle turns the wheel
as branches rustle in the dead of night
leaves decadent story descend in scores
like her tears as they liquify a barren shore
shroud of blue she courts
flowing from once was light
lamp guarded whilst a waxen candle burns
beauty flowing beyond her archaic ruin
sheathing that which had grown in temper sad
in simple etchings of what remains
she sits coalesced to the iron chains of blame
cast from dolphin’s hope put to sea
seduced by the weeds of symmetry
no one to hear her cry or seek her plea
enmeshed to what would set her free
dourest mirage of where her heart had lain
oceanic sentinel claims now the weeping sand

Ambiance regale
leaves courting a stage door call
pirouette entranced
costumed in sunset to fall
finale’s zenith to dance

A Resolutions of Sorts

When rainbows fade
when pearls have lost their luster
when diamonds no longer sparkle
a friend remains
to paint the colors true
to pick the oyster where beauty grew
to shine what once captured the sun
to walk a path by a rocky shore
then take their hand and walk some more

blessings my friend

Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom....

Dragon, fly with incessant eyes scouring the nocturnal sky
wind rushes to dry the tears sleet falls to steal the years
take me unto the night wing caressed in splendorous flight
unfold the talons of my soul for they wither within growing old
wake me to the dawn in time upon the back of reason
for I have climbed to flame and change has not a season
lay me upon a mountain top
where all is silent and the world has stopped
in glorious blaze upon a dusk frosted morn
I will pluck this tormenting thorn
the cards placed before me the chalice bare
while the runes’ still sing the dragons dare

rock me away in moon scaped eyes
sing to me wind’s caressed lullabies
blanket me in love’s quilt of colors
give me heart to love all others
pillow me in dreams to rest
thy sleep of life truly blessed

nite nite

grey pullulated catacombs archaic
to tranquil repose in a field of silver
for magic lies esoteric
by the third eye the four corners evoked
heeding not the wisdom of the fall
from a gentle rain winters passion bloomed in pain
passage of the mage truth turning yet another page
Camelot lay but a dream away
webbed illusion of yesterday
cloistered in but another day
karma dripped in words staid
a bell tolled out a crown
thorns tasted blood as it poured down

^^^ love that analogy

work, work, work, feel like a dwarf that doesn’t whistle. They always seemed so happy, well guess not grumpy but I haven’t worked up to that yet. I bought a naked pic styled after Michael Angelo’s David cept this guy is really ripped. ..I should get my nun costume ready.

Little fledgling bird
eyes beseeching to shine
wings yet to unfold
how I envy you
soft and sweet in down
unoccupied by a world of sound
as yet your colors mottled
infancy contingent in transition
felt is your sky born thirst
by my eyes I will watch you fly
while you claim the sky
memories rest in your flight
I will soar with you in sight
