To move or not to move on?

Sorry to hear about what happened Op, but you must move on. Move on not just to begin anew, but also for your mental stability. There is a very good chance she will return, but you must distance yourself, and live your life. Surround yourself with postive people whose attitudes will lift yours, it can make a world of difference.

Ross Perot develops new website to confront US corruption and economic deception
Posted:

Mr. Perot failed forgot to mention corporate America's strangehold on American citizens though the use of the government. As evidenced by the refusal of the tax on oil profits. Of course a lot of what he says is right, the American public knew this a long time ago. The real question is when will Washington grow a backbone.
Seems like he wants to toss his hat into the political arena...again.

McClain wants to run against Clinton because he can not afford stirring up racial issues. He doesn't want to disenfranchise the African-American or Independant voting base. It doesn't take a reading of the Tarot cards, to see that either way the race will be close, and he needs every advantage he can get.
I hear the supporters of Obama and Clinton talking about voting for McClain if their candidate doesn't get the nomination, well don't let your spite over rule your judgment. The reason being for the past eight years we have had a president who has ignored the wants of his citizens, slashed away many of our freedoms. And lets not forget that the republican congress and senate made a lot of that possible. Mcclain will be another one.
No matter how you want to cut it McClain will pacify his party, regardless of what is said. Just look at the latest ad for the GOP in North Carolina against Obama, which McClain requested they remove and he was ignored. In that simple act he was shown who has the real power.
Getting and keeping a democratic candidate in the Oval office should be of paramount concern whether it is Clinton or Obama. You have had a chance to see what eight years of a republican agenda can get done, do you really want another four years.

You don't disenfranchise millions of voters in this country for ANY reason
So true the voters in Florida can't get a break, not this year not in 2004, but it is their right to vote, and taking that away doesn't say much about our political system.

Hilary Clinton....
Posted:
4/25/2008 4:59:17 PM
No offense my friend, but it was the Clinton Administration who
began the decreasing our military while making the military
world wide peace keepers
You sure that didn't start with G..H.W. Bush
during the first gulf war. Moreover, Clinton’s cuts in the military, while large, were nowhere close to 25 percent to 30 percent. Between 1993 and 2001, the Army went from 572,423 to 480,801, which is a decline of 16 percent. The entire military went from 1,705,103 to 1,385,116, a decrease of 18.8 percent.
Compare that with the far larger cuts made during the first Bush administration: In 1989, the military stood at 2,130,229 and the Army had 769,741 soldiers. By 1993, those numbers had declined by 19.9 percent and 25.6 percent, respectively.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/nh_debate_the_gop_field.html
Anyway, getting back to the subject of Hillary Clinton cutting the military, after hearing her response in the last debate about protecting Israel, she might just increase troop levels. I do believe we need a strong military, but we need one to protect our country, not impose a presidents will.

You don't have the transcripts of what happened in the court, so no one really kows what was said.
I have to agree, it just seems there is more to this than just saying someones name incorrectly. But, she better think twice before doing that again, next person may not be so forgiving.

the only answer is secession
Posted:

A good portion of the Civil War's slaves did not want the war. Reason: They were initially sold by their own in Africa.. truth. They were NOT taken. They were sold by their own people to the rest of the World...not just the US
That almost makes it seem like slavery was a picnic. But because someone is selling something, doesn't mean you have to buy it. As for the Civil war slavery was not the main issue, the main issue involved trade routes. Matter of fact many African Americans fought with the confederacy, being promised their freedom after the war, yes the same thing the North promised.
I do agree strongly that we can't afford to wait much longer, we have fallen asleep at the wheel, and in the process let so much of what this country stands for almost become a memory. Something else I have noticed, how many of the presidential candidates have made mention of the erosion of habeas corpus. We need to reawaken them also or it will be too late. Secession is just a bandage for a much larger problem, look at it's affect from the last time. If anything we need to come together, as a much stronger force.

Most especially MSNBC and NBC.. I don't know of a single host or analyst there who doesn't take frequent shots at her
I remember the program Countdown, where the host called Clinton's campaign shameless, which showed a tad bit of bias. Now with that being said, one poster said that McClain would win Penn. Well considering that the Catholic vote gave her a boost, that could be very true. At this point it would take something short of a super nova to derail Obama, Hillary is fighting tough, but at this point I think a lot of it might just be wasted energy.

Spirit Of America, Vision and Hope that seems lost

Vision and Hope that seems lost
It is never lost, maybe misplaced, but never lost. Go back a hundred years, and tell a slave working in a field that one day a black man will be running for president. Suppose this country in it's infancy, was told fighting the British is a lost cause, and not to even bother asking Frances help. Or telling Americans the country could never rebuild because of the depression. These people didn't lose hope, and neither should we. That spirit is still there, just needs a swift kick, and a spark lit under its butt.

why we can't believe in change.
Posted:
4/22/2008 9:30:50 PM
Hey, I liked Edwards, he actually got his hands dirty in helping to build homes in New Orleans. Now as far as change, it is inside of us, your right we have given Washington too much power. I don't think it is too late to make a difference, but time is a-wastin'.
Maybe we need another Shays rebellion, first things first, and that would be to stop buying and investing in companies that don't invest in us. A company goes overseas, let them sell their product overseas. And China, how much of what is made there really has any quality. We deserve it, we should demand it.
The best way to get someone to notice is in their pocketbook, eyes open when wallets get lighter, we can do it the question is just when.

When u have done all u know to do then just stand so keep standing President Bush as there are alot of us that are with you.
There is a good chance he read this, he did say he uses the "internets".
I 'm pretty sure Bush was not the first President to run up the national debt -- and he did have some major obstacles during this administration.
No, but his National debt is more than all the presidents before him combined, which is quite an achievement, AWESOME job.
In order to get a deeper understanding of Bush, maybe his words of wisdom can enlighten us.
"The war on terror involves Saddam Hussein because of the nature of Saddam Hussein, the history of Saddam Hussein, and his willingness to terrorize himself." —Grand Rapids, Mich., Jan. 29, 2003
"Do you have blacks, too?" —to Brazilian President Fernando Cardoso, Washington, D.C., Nov. 8, 2001

Whether it is Clinton or Obama, whoever gets the nomination I will support as far as Democrats are concerned. And from there making the congress realize they work for us. McClain doesn't have a clue, and we don't need him in office. according to some recent polls by CNN, he is now starting to gain a lot of the youth vote, which isn't good news. If this party becomes fragmented, it will just make McClain more than likely, our next president.

who is your favorite american president?
Posted:
4/19/2008 6:26:12 PM
There are many F.D.R. , Eisenhower to name a few.
But, maybe my most favorite would be Theodore Roosevelt.
First president to invite an African American into the White House, he created the Dept. of Natural Resouces, fought for a stronger naval force. He also sought Universal Heatlhcare and warned America about the dangers of big buiness.
One of his famous quotes, when asked about his daughter.."I can be President of the United States, or I can control Alice. I cannot possibly do both. "
Amd here is a portion of a speech he delivered in 1912, that has as much meaning back when he was in politics, as it does today
"To destroy this invisible Government, to dissolve the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day"
And from his autobiography
"This country belongs to the people. Its resources, its business, its laws, its institutions, should be utilized, maintained, or altered in whatever manner will best promote the general interest.' This assertion is explicit".

They are called Reagan Democrat’s .....
Touche, you hit the nail right on the head, and they could quite easily propel McClain right into the oval office.
From the same article
The statement -- which author Benjamin Barber witnessed and wrote about in his book, "The Truth of Power: Intellectual Affairs in the Clinton White House" -- was prompted by another speaker raising the difficulties of reaching "Reagan Democrats." It stands in stark contrast to the attitude the New York Democrat has recently taken on the campaign trail, in which she has presented herself as the one candidate who understands the working-class needs.

Sure wasn't the American public, although it gave us a wonderful chance to see if candidates could tell the same lie twice. We have Hillary complaing of unfair treatment from the moderators, and now the same from Barack. If they are crying like this now, wait until they come up against the Republican war machine, which will eat them alive.

I believe what I said was I had yet to find anyone who could give me an example of how their rights were eroded
The gag order requires complete confidentiality of the government's actions when seeking the records of citizens in the United States. Citizens who are demanded by the government to provide records of suspected individuals are unable to speak about the government's actions. The plaintiff brought the suit to a district court and won the case, but no verdict was passed by the judge because the U.S. government would have inevitable appealed the case, which they did.

In 2004, agents used this provision to search and secretly examine the home of Brandon Mayfield, who was wrongfully jailed for two weeks on suspicion of involvement in the Madrid train bombings. While the U.S. Government did publicly apologise to Mr. Mayfield and his family,] Mr. Mayfield took it further through the courts. On September 26, 2007, judge Ann Aiken found the law was, in fact, unconstitutional as the search was an unreasonable imposition on Mr. Mayfield and thus violated the Fourth Amendment.[51][52]

Whose Candidate will prosecute the Neocons?
Posted:

but you forgot Mike Gravel another man who speaks truth to power.
It was actually a travesty of our political system to have candiates like Gravel excluded from the debates, yet Alan Keyes, was allowed to debate with the Republicans.
There was a poster who said if Obama gets elected there will be rioting in the streets, no, things will go on as normal after a few days, same with Hillary, they will look the other way. They couldn't stand up for a fellow debater, why, because of their own political gains.
Perhaps they were afraid they would have to answer a question with a truthful answer, instead of having pre-screened questions by the moderators. Talk about unity, with friends like that...well you know the rest. If they can't stand up to MSNBC or PBS, how are they going to stand up to the "NEOCONS".
It is time for us to put our boots on and start kicking, while we still can. a leader is only as strong as the strength, focus, and sense of direction he gets from his followers (that would be us).

Those awful rich people who need to have every cent stripped away from them because they are just EVIL for making money.
Au contraire, with the Fed bailing out Bears and Stearns with 29 M dollars, I saw for myself our government does work. Not sure for who, but it does work.

When we all wake up on November 5th, 2008
When we wake up we will still be waiting for our inspiration and guidance, corporate America and China will still dictate how we live. Our government has been brought and paid for regardless of Democratic or Republican promises. And lets not forget that with the execution of an executive order, we could wake up on November the 5th 2008 and Bush could still be our president. The only change we are going to see, is the change we create ourselves instead of waiting for it to be done for us. If not, we can just expect to wake up to a normal day.

what hypocrisy that Clinton is crucified for beliefs that most Americans held
So true, many Americans as well as some allies were determined to get rid of Saddam's brutal regime, which was thought to have funded the horrible actions behind 9/11.
Now how many are willing to admit today, they believed the same thing.

Presidential Candidates
Posted:
3/19/2008 11:57:31 AM
I was really excited to see Barack Obama defeat Alan Keyes In Illinois, and to see him move on to bigger and better things is something I do applaud. Now the candidates have taken these elections to a new high, as far as race gender, and age. This is an election of historic proportions, and we are the benefactors of such an amazing event.
Choosing one who is not only viable, but consistent with their ideas and beliefs that will hopefully shape, and restore the countries pride will be no easy task. Each candidate has been vetted, and walked in a mire that has been self created.
Hillary Clinton, there is N.A.F.T.A, which she can't seem to decide if she opposes or sanctions, same as the issue of her war vote, and of course the constant 35 years of experience, which goes to show wisdom is not always gained through age.
We have Barack Obama, who stresses his judgment, and tells us he never heard his pastor say anything negative, then says he had. Or, stating in a debate he only performed five hours of work for Rezno , and that was the extent of his dealing with him, then we find out the two purchased land together.
And of course John McClain who is just flat out delusional, regarding the war and the state of economics in the United States. He feels we will be in Iraq for another 100 years, and I do believe if he were 172 years old, he would still be supporting this war.
Yes, there is more than a healthy does of hypocrisy to spread around, and yes I am more critical of the Democratic party for one simple reason, we need a Democrat in the White House. The Democratic candidates need to clear the air , in the same manner as David Paterson in becoming governor of New York.
Am I saying Deomcrats are better than Republicans, no but when considering the past track record of the Republicans, recession, war etc. , well it speaks for itself.
Let's be honest with ourselves the left and right , or should I say reaching across the aisle is a fantastic idea, but it won't be happening anytime soon. Hopefully we will return to the matter at hand, the nation as we once knew it. At this point and time neither Clinton nor Obama can afford anymore blunders. If that happens, we get McClain, and another 100 years of Iraq.

Is the true battle in this election religion (Hagee vs. Wright)
Posted:
3/18/2008 11:53:54 AM
There is no doubt the race card is being used, but a bigger card being used is the religion card. Some believe religion is the underlying cause and solution, for many of the worlds problems. Many feel religion shuld be the determining precept one should take, regarding life and all of its directives. Unfortunately, the economy, the war and class divisions take a back seat as always. Another reason why, time after time I question faith based initiatives, when did it become politcally incorrect to do the right thing?...well doing the right thing I guess is purely subjective.

Can Obama ‘Rehabilitate’ America?
In a word no, it will take Americans to ‘Rehabilitate’ America, we have become complacent, like many other countries. We are looking for answers, when if we looked inside of ourselves we would find them. Did the members of the Boston Tea Party wait for someone to lead them?...did Rosa Parks wait for someone to lead her?
Yes, we need another president like J.F.K or even Teddy Roosevelt, who was the first president to push for Universal Health Care. And talk about crossing barriers he was also the first president to invite an African American into the White House.
The mess that this current admisntration has made will take a long time, if ever to repair. Now if we could get the left and the right to come together for a common purpose, wonderful things could happen.
But, who is going to hold their breath?

It was a rebound relationship, and she took advantage of the situation. Sadly, there are women and men out there who have no shame in their game.

Hillary's coup d'état?

A couple of factors which may have contributed to Hillary's sucess on super tuesday junior, is the issue of one of Obama's staff members having a talk with Canada regarding N.A.F.T.A. Also the upcoming Rezno trials in Chicago. Obama really needs to address these isues, or else he will be placed in the same category as everyone else....a politican.

Screw impeachment, how about some jail time?

It is in all administrations..............and so it goes.
Would that be Josh Bolton, Harriet Myers, or Scooter Libby, hey let's not leave Gonazles out of the mix. The trail of lies and broken government from this admistration has been shameful. Not to mention our loss of liberty and free speech. I guess many don't see the difference between a sexual act, and exposing a first line defender of this country, such as Valerie Plame. The Bush adminstration will haunt America for a very long time. Nancy Pelosi took impeachemnt off the table, perhaps she felt she was expressing the sentiment of all Americans. Yes, delusions are a virus that spreads thru government like a common cold.

Dont ask us Americans to get involved!!!!
Too late we are already involved, because we belong to that group called human beings. As far as the military is concerned we are there also, because bases are being "established", to help the people suffering (tap into oil reserves). Let's not forget China's role in all of this, not only being the banker to the world they finance the Jaweed. Yes, you guessed just a matter of time before Africa becomes the next Iraq.

RE Obama: Is America Ready for a Black President?

It was the Democrats that were against the civil rights movement until about 1950.
Thats about the same time Strom Thurmond became a republican, oddly enough. As a matter of fact, one of the prime objectives of the republican party was to abolish slavery.
Truth is stranger than fiction.

Democrats Approve Protecting Phone Companies

Good to see the liberal Democrats doing their best to protect the terrorists and enabling them to plan and unleash further attacks on this country. Nice to see our "friends" from up North on here agreeing with the Dems and the terrorists.
Ok using that logic, anyone who impedes the wiretap program is aiding the terrorists...ok..
WASHINGTON—Telephone companies have cut off FBI wiretaps used to eavesdrop on suspected criminals because of the bureau's repeated failures to pay phone bills on time....
In at least one case, a wiretap used in a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act investigation "was halted due to untimely payment," the audit found. FISA wiretaps are used in the government's most sensitive and secretive criminal investigations, and allow eavesdropping on suspected terrorists or spies.
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/1/10/131644/460
So it appears the phone company is willing to do it's part as long as they are being compensated. Now since they weren't paid means they are helping the terrorists?????
Just like the intelligence reports, if they report back with what the adminstration likes then it is fine. But, on the other hand if they don't like it, then there is something wrong with it.
So we protect the country by protecting the phone companies, from lawsuits, that doesn't make one bit of sense. If you really want to protect your citizens, then vetoing a bill JUST because of that, just shows who your really protecting.

This is what I found on the Senate website
Not Voting - 3
Clinton (D-NY)
Graham (R-SC)
Obama (D-IL)
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=2&vote=00020
So is this what they mean by hope, a new change and experience, like Pete Townshend said "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss".
The phone companies went far beyond what they were supposed to do, and they got caught...simple as that. Now if the government wants you to pay taxes, should you rob an old lady to fufill that committment. This devils advocate thing is kinda fun.
