i think people can become addicted to dating sites in the same way people become addicted to playing the lottery in that you have to be in it to win it If youre single then its better to have a profile published and be "available" than have no profile at all Which is why you see some people with profiles on several different dating sites As to whether you stay on it after youve started dating someone i think its not realistic to demand them to remove their profile after one date Maybe after youre officially a couple or "going out with each other" then both should immediately remove their profile. But the simple fact is if they really like you and want to go out with you for the second date then they wouldnt bother logging back onto the dating site. They would be looking forward to you and your second date

this whole "we should have the freedom to have as many kids as we want" thing is ridiculous we all live within a community so that we can benefit from that community. We have doctors to help us when were sick, who are paid for by our communal tax funds. We have teachers to teach our kids, we're given money by other members of that community for our services which we spend on food or anything we want. To have as many kids as we want (in circumstances like China) would cause that community to collapse. So why should the community allow its self to be destroyed? If you were solely self sufficient on an isolated island then fair enough. But if you want to continue being within your community then you have to accept that some compromises will be necessary. That there will be restrictions upon your behaviour to ensure the continuation of that community. Which is why youre not allowed to shoplift, not allowed to assault or kill other members of that community. Why you cant write Asstiddlywinks everywhere or walk around naked. Levels of immigration are irrelevant. Even the topic of chronic food shortages is somewhat irrelevant compared to the fact that at some point in the future there simply wont be enough room on this planet to house everyone. At which point its obvious to point out that theyll end up banning any unlicensed child births. Or only people like teachers or doctors will be allowed to have children

ha ha ha ha, let me get this straight.... you were dating for 2 and a half months. Thats 2 and a half months!!! and he asked if you had some money for a pack of smokes So you dumped him Can you not see how crazy this is? Regardless of whether or not you wish to class it as a relationship and regardless of whether or not it was physical. Dating someone for 2 and a half months is a relationship. It may not be a serious one but it is a relationship with another human being. And if you dump someone just for asking for the money to buy a pack of smokes then you need to ask yourself some serious questions. Because it wasnt like you had been on 2 dates or anything, you had been together for 2 and a half months! The question you have to ask yourself isnt were you wrong or not. But how long are you going to be alone if you keep on dumping men over trivial little matters?

how can someone whos so mature be quite so ignorant? for starters we can all agree that as we get older everything doesnt work as well as it used to. Eyesight, hearing, internal organs, memory....hard-ons it all gets weaker as you get older. Knowing this, why are you so suprised that a man in his 60s isnt as sexually capable or functional as a man of younger years? And why are you not suprised that a man with dignity and pride may not want to announce to everyone who comes his way that not all his functions work as well as they used to? Do you announce or will you announce to everyone that your bladder control isnt what it used to be and have to wear tena pads? No of course you wont. Sex is needed for a healthy relationship but it is not the be all and end all of life. To reject guys who are simply being affected by age in ways that women arent is just plain ignorance. I would hope that when im 60+ my concerns would be to find someone who i enjoy the remainder of my life with. Someone who makes me happy because if i continue to judge them on standards that they arent capable of anymore then i would be a very lonely person indeed

the custom of men paying for dinner and the date probably stems from the same reasoning that men are the breadwinners and head of the household who hold all the money Im happy to pay for the first date and even the second. But women cant have their cake and eat it Women cant be independent, strong, demand equal rights, pay and say that theyre everyway an equal to a man but then assign us "gender roles" whereby we have to comp them everytime we go out . Nor can they as grown female adults expect for people to pay for them when theyre going out. How is that being independent, strong and equal? And its BS to bring up the old "gentlemen" excuse. Oh you didnt pay for the date so you cant be a gentleman...what rubbish! A true gentleman is someone who respects and views his partner as his true equal. he will love her with all his heart, do anything for her and respects her enough not to treat her like shes a child or useless. And by him paying for dates every time (and if shes got any sort of decency) then that is how she should feel, like a subservient adolescent still reliant on the nice big man to pay for dinner If ladies truly respected their partner they wouldnt expect him to pay for everything. Looking at the posts its obvious that most men dont mind paying for the first couple of dates. But seriously if youre a lady who expects to be comped for on every date then dont be suprised when the guy expects you to stay at home and have his dinner on the table by 5. Dont be suprised when he treats you like a housewife, a second class person and incapable or doing anything for yourself Or you could go out with a guy who thinks youre a full-blooded woman. A strong independent lady capable of paying her own way in life. its all about respect. Those who think men should pay their way for them have no respect for the man or for themselves

just go by yourself or as part of a normal organised tour I dont see the point in going on a singles holiday, if youre a lady youll probably end up having unwanted advances from some of the guys (which would then make the rest of the holiday awkward) And does anyone really want to find a relationship only to find that they live half way across the country it just seems desperate travelling by yourself will bring out all sorts of qualities you thought you never had. I travelled round the world by myself and im going to Paris this weekend. So yeah have faith in yourself and good things will happen :)

The trouble i have is keeping track of who ive contacted and who i havent contacted. I know theres a way to see who youve contacted but this is quite seperate from the profiles themselves. To double check if youve already contacted someone you would have to cross-reference them with your contacted list when you visit someones profile on most other dating websites they have a simple "you last contacted her on..." "she last contacted you on..." "You two have never contacted each other" on their profile So you can tell at a glance whether youve contacted them or not As the months go on and people change their profiles and pictures its harder and harder to keep track of who youve already talked to so you end up talking to people who you already know there isnt a connection

i would expect to pay for dinner on a dinner date, as thats just standard. i dont mind paying for cinema tickets and drinks/sweets but for an evening in the pub drinking then it should be on a rounds basis paying for the first two was gentlemany enough, if shes expecting you to pay for the drinks all night then i would suggest theres a repsect issue. If she respects you, is interested in you and likes you then she should be happy to share in the rounds system but luckily these things have a silver lining, if she does it on a first date you know not to take her out on a second

only going on holidays with your pals or only doing something if someone else does it = dependant having the confidence to go out and do what you want when you want = independant some people are only able to do stuff if they have their hand held, others can do things without being dependant on others being there or having support off others. i travelled round the world by myself and im off to paris by myself later this month too so i would class myself as independent being independent doesnt mean you stop looking for intimacy, love and companionship it just means that when required, youve got the grapes to do things by yourself

ive just spent two weeks texting and emailing a lady (with twenty quids worth of texts) and to cut a long story short, we still havent met up the main problem for me is that ive spent all this money, time and energy having a great laugh with this person but ultimately until ive met them i dont know if theres enough chemistry to be pals, let alone have a relationship i mean people talk about chemistry and sparks with relationships but friendship also needs that spark and chemistry. Which is why you dont go out and have a pint with absolutely everyone youve ever met in your life. And being able to act like pals on emails and txts doesnt necessarily mean youre going to be able to have that kind of friendship when you actually meet in a way its kind of running before you can walk. Because no where else apart from the tinternet do you behave like pals before actually knowing you are pals Also adding people to your facebook as well. These are all things that should be done after youve met and proved that there is room to become friends Lets forget about relationships all together, because if there isnt enough spark to be pals then theres no point carrying on. And all that time, energy and money youve spent being "cyber pals" will have been wasted because i for one dont want cyber pals, i want real pals and a real girlfriend Its ok if people dont want to meet but they should be expicit about this from the outset, but the simple fact is its reasonably fair if someone wants to meet up after 2 weeks of talking. Theyre not stalkers, psychos or wierdos. And the people who think this have far too high opinion of themselves Theyre just people who dont want to become emotionally invested in a relationship/friendship that is either ultimately not going anywhere or doesnt have the capability to go anywhere And you dont know if its going anywhere or has the capability to go anywhere until youve met.

the last train back from cheltenham is like 930 :( even if these meets were to be done on a friday when the trains are more regular and continue later on in the night the last train back is 23:20 with a connection at shrub hill and gets you back at cheltenham at midnight sadly wouldnt recommend it for anyone let alone a lone lady but im in the same boat, i probably wont be able to make it because of the trains.

essentially people arent happy with just dating anymore they come out of school and its a race to better their friends. To prove to them that theyre more successfull, that theyre more of an adult, that they have someone who not only loves them but wants to marry them they dont want to be dating they want to be engaged. They want the house, the dogs, the mortgage. but theres a definite conclusion to being engaged and thats to get married so essentially all these kids are getting married because they feel they have to now that theyre engaged so everyone ends up married at the the age of 23. And that doesnt even take into account the people who get knocked up before 20, and marry the guy theyve been dating since they were 15/16 so when they become 30 and theyre thinking this is the only guy ive slept with, and that grass sure does look greener over there they end up divorcing taking marriage at its most literal in that it should be for life, if you think you can find your soulmate and the person you want to spend the remaining 55 years of you life with in only 3 or 4 years of dating AND within a 20 mile radius of your house then youre certainly setting yourself up for failiure finding the person who completes you should be an arduous and long journey because you shouldnt be settling for the guy who knocks you up or the first lady who lets you feel underneath her underoos it should be a case of travelling and searching. Of failiure time and time again because to accept someone whos unacceptable just to get that gold band on your finger isnt what its all about when you accept that gold ring you should do it knowing that there isnt anyone else on this earth who you would want more than your hubby/wife and i dont see how anyone can do that at 18/19 years of age or even in their mid twenties

the op wasnt commentating on "txt spk" or the inaccurate use of punctuation or grammar so im not too sure why people have been so eager to correct his when reading shakespeare or medieval texts or even (if youre desperate enough...older versions of the bible) its obvious that english, language, grammar and spelling has changed over last couple of hundred years its like in movies involving time travel when people go back to medieval england and suprisingly they can all understand each other! When in reality the language of the 1200's/1300's would be totally different I mean if english hasnt changed then why do people need crib notes to understand shakespeare?

i dont see why you cant handle giving 100% to a relationship but still give all the love and support to your kids i can understand if they were young then this might not be possible but if theyre 15 and 18 thats old enough for them to be venturing out on their own. if theyre nearly at 6th form and old enough to get a job then you should start thinking about your needs. that doesnt mean going out to clubs every night but if the right guy came along then you shouldnt do your self a dis service and not act upon it just because of your kids otherwise what will happen is youll end up ruining relationships or putting off relationships because of your kids but then your kids will soon leave home and youll find yourself completely alone

62p a year to finance the royals is absolutely tosh. Theres 60 million people in this country, even if we pretend that every one of those 60 million is over 18 years old and pays taxes thats still only like £38 million a year i personally dont believe theres one reason to keep the royal family, not one Tourists dont come to england to see our royal family, they come to see the palaces or the castles. They come to see what the royal family used to be not what it is today I mean its not even like these tourists end up meeting the queen. They fly into london stand outside buckingham palace for 20 minutes then leave so what difference would it make if theres a queen inside or not? If anything if there wasnt a monarchy then we'ld be able to totally open up buckingham palace and all the other residences and that would probably generate more income the gulf between rich and poor is going to get bigger and bigger, with the amount of poor getting larger and larger Subsequently there wont be any patience or tolerance for seeing royals (both minor and major) wasting or being extravagent with tax payers money helicopter rides just to play golf or holidays or just generally living a life of luxury and extravagance is not going to play happy with those living on the bread line back in the olden days when the king/queen actually ruled the country then you could say that they earnt their palaces and land. But now they still have their land and their palaces and their lifestyles but they dont actually do anything to earn that amount of luxury it would be like being you being at work but them removing all your responsibilities but keeping you on at full salary and the fact that they are trying to reduce the amount of money they cost the country is a sign that they realise people just arent prepared to put up with it anymore. Sooner or later the people will speak, there will be a referendum or such a public outcry that the monarchy will have to step down and there wont be one anymore

i would say dont put something like "for a first date ild like to go hot air ballooning" or "be whisked off to france" or something equally ambitious its just plain crazy to go on a blind date and decide to do something that locks you into their company for a whole day or even half a day for a 2nd or 3rd date fine, but as a "saying hello for the first time" kind of date it would be a killer because if theyre not what you thought theyre going to be and you want to bolt after the 1st 5 minutes then thats going to feel like a very long day for you both

for starters men have a reputation for looking more probably because women show more flesh in public even in summer, guys are restricted to shorts and t shirts but ladies frequently strip to the bare minimals if attractive guys walked around in speedos all the time then im sure hed gets lots of looks from the ladies too Its human nature to instinctively look at things that are sexually appealing to us However youre right in thinking that the lady in a short skirt has been stared at all day by every guy whos seen her its up to you whether you glance or stare. sometimes i glance, othertimes i intentionally ignore because i know that every other guys looking. The starers are mostly saving up the image for the spank bank later on. But like the OP said, what exactly do guys things going to happen by looking? That theyre going to fall hopelessly in love with you? The 6,456 guy to have stared at her ass that day? no, of course not so dont demean yourself by staring or even glancing at her. i do something similar, but i give her a sink plunger and a bottle of mouth wash and tell her to sort herself out I mean honestly, whats wrong with each seperately going into the bathroom and discreetly cleaning themselves up? im not suprised she got offended with being given a cloth, youre not her mum she doesnt need help in cleaning herself. She can do it all by herself least not the fact that she probably doesnt want to clean herself in front of you anyway personally i wouldnt want to see it and i wouldnt want to do it in front of anyone so yeah in answer to your question, it is a bit disturbing

at the end of the day you shouldnt be having sex with someone who you think youre going to dump any time soon if youre undecided about whether you want to date someone then dont "deepen" the relationship by shagging kissing is ok but there is definately an unsaid social contract whereby having sex with someone youre dating is (unless otherwise stated) a way of deepening that relationship and getting closer to that person So if they bolt for the door before youve got your underoos back on then definately the person should feel agrieved However....occasionally its not always the person bolting for the doors fault maybe the person was rubbish in bed maybe the person got all clingy after the act. After all 3 dates is enough for nookie but not enough to be picking out curtains So as always its not always as easy as 1=1=2

i would date a virgin because someones got to start somewhere. i wouldnt want to penalise someone for having the morals not to open their legs for just anyone what i personally would expect to be an average amount of sexual partners differs according to their age 10 partners for an 20 year old is a bit too much 10 partners for a 30 year old isnt that much 10 partners for a 40 year old is less than expected and so on i wouldnt want to be with someone who has a history of one night stands or shags people every time theyre drunk, its not the sort of person i am and not the sort of person i want to be with

statistically some will die alone, some will never ever have a relationship, they'll never have sex and never kiss anyone sometimes the cards dealt to you are so unbelievably sh*tty that the only way to survive with your sanity is to change not just what you want out of life but to change what it means for you to be happy if you continue in your life unhappy because of something you cant control (someone falling in love with you) then youll always be unhappy and the chances of you finding that someone will be reduced because noone wants someone who's unhappy so the best chances for happiness is to find it in the things you can change and accept that some things may never be

maybe he thought your profile was somewhat suspect and wanted to make sure you were genuine If you were unable to produce more pics to prove its you then obvious your profile was a fake and as such he stopped contacting you It would be different if he was wanting pictures of you in your underoos, or if he had been talking of a sexual nature but i wouldnt say theres any danger at all in sending someone normal pictures the idea that he wanted them so he could scam someone else is pretty daft. theres already billions of pics on the net that he could use so he wouldnt bother taking his time chatting to someone on a dating site to obtain them when he could just use google search

i went to china earlier this year and without the "one child rule" the country would fall on its knees the populus is increasing at a massively huge rate even with the rule, but if everyone could have as many kids as they want then the system just wouldnt be able to cope but its not as simple as "one child per family" there are exceptions and some people are allowed more. if people really think in 20 years time when the uks population is 100 million we wont be adopting a similar policy then youre crazy anyone really think we have enough room to house 100 million? without skyscrapers everywhere? chinas simply reacting early to the inevitable problem of overcrowding because their population is in the billions, not millions

whats shocking is that people are wasting their time deciding if a tv presenter is worth 6 million of the license fee when the obvious answer is that we shouldnt be paying the license fee in the first place if youre going to be truly outraged about something then direct that outrage at the fact that regardless of whether you just use your tv to watch dvds, just watch sky or other commercial radio stations/tv channels, IT IS THE LAW that you must still pay the license fee its not disgusting that jonathon ross gets paid 6 million by the BBC, its disgusting that if you want to watch tv, its currently against the law not to pay jonathon ross' wages

no relationship is perfect and sometimes arguments and differences of opinion occur and because you live together you dont have a chance to clearly reflect not just on your choices but the consequences of those decisions because its in your face day after day sometimes a breaks needed so that you can both consider what you mean to each other and you can then ultimately make a clear and considered decision on where your relationships going but constantly demanding answers right away and not having a break to consider just makes matters worse so a break isnt a break in a relationship its just solace or some quiet time to think to your self.

if she hadnt been a spokesperson for a slimming product such as rivita then it would be none of our business that shes had this operation however because of the clear conflict of interest it does make it in the public interest, and because of the clear assumptions made it would be a lie of ommision it would be like me claiming to have climbed to the top of mount everest but excluding the fact that i caught a helicopter ride to the top anyone who actually believes that these celebs get in the shape they are by doing their own work out video need a good look at themselves its obvious theyve had professionals dictating their diet and participated in a strict exercise scheme in the gym but really the most startling fact of them all would be the news that people get their slimming advice from fern britton. I mean seriously...fern britton?
