Dating after the death of a child.
Posted: 2/14/2008 9:41:23 PM
My thoughts and prayers are with you...
I lost my mother back in '01 and of course that is just a natural part of life when we grow into adults. But she was the very first person that I ever loved deeply that had passed away. The thing that helped me the most was talking... Boy did I ever , to others that had lost a parent and to anyone that would listen, and after her death things have happened that I have no explanation for. Before she passed, I asked her to be a guardian angel for me, I know that really isn't how they come about, but I always feel in my heart that she is with me always!
You must know and feel that about your son... Death is never easy in my eyes, no matter whom they are in your life.
Stay strong and just keep putting one foot in front of the other, it will get easier with time.

what's an appropriate age differential?
Posted: 2/2/2008 12:45:53 PM
I have also been messaged/IM'd by 20 somethings! But I also will not go there because of family members around that age and just can't do it...
But my dating history has been with 10 year age difference, young or old! I think it's all about the maturity of the person. Some of the 10 years older have acted like they were much younger than myself. So there you go.
A funny story, I was walking to my car after work one evening. At that time I was working at a prominent University and young kids would skateboard all over campus. Well, this young boy had to be about 13-14 and he asked me if he could have my digits (phone #)? I had a good laff and told him I would if he were only 20 years older!!!

A slow and painful death...
Posted: 2/2/2008 12:32:19 PM
I think some of us, like in life, are able to let things go and not take what is said personally. Others, I think have a hard time with doing so. It is just the nature of all and these forums are an example of the crossection of folks we deal with in the real world. I've experienced it with friends, co-workers, family, etc.... You know what they say, "Opinions (viewpoints, advice, etc.) are like hiney holes, everyone's got one!"
I think our world right now is way too screwed up and I feel that many of us come here to lighten things up a little. I know that is why I do, I truly enjoy many of the POFers sense of humor's and these days not everyone has one.

Are you your Car?
Posted: 1/30/2008 9:40:21 AM
I am definitely not my car currently....
I had two cars in a row stolen, it sucks when you go out to get in your vehicle and it not being there!!
At the time, I had a good friend that was a head of a dealership, I told him to get me and engine with four tires... That is what I am driving to this day and NO ONE wants to take it from me.

Uh, Ali, two days left til' what? All years have 29 days(at least) in January! Leap year Februarys have 29. Methinks you're a month off,maybe....lol (so much for her asking me....huh....lol
I sent an e-mail to Ali lastnight informing her that she was a month off.. She blamed it on alzheimer's... I often have blonde moments, so I cannot find fault!!!

Tiger attack victim was drinking, admitted taunting
Posted: 1/26/2008 6:10:46 PM
As I had posted in another thread, a family member is in Sr. Mgmt. and they have been hit very hard by this. My relative is the sweetest, kindest gentleman on the face of this planet and he is stressed over this matter.
I am an animal lover and have done animal rescue in my past. What those boys did was wrong and I hope they recieve no funds from this accident. I am sure Mr. Geragos is just waiting to fuel the fire....
How many of you have been antagonized by someone and was just defending yourself the best way you knew how! Then how'd you like to get shot and killed for it.....
I rest my case!

funniest, craziest, weirdest things that have happened while online dating
Posted: 1/23/2008 4:56:20 PM
Talking to someone for a whole year before meeting (unless they live in another state) is TOO LONG! I've learned that it is a waste of time to talk, talk, talk ad nauseum. You need to meet, if only for coffee. That is where you can decide if there is that requisite Chemistry.
AliBabble -
I so agree! I've been talking (IM & phone) to someone for almost 6 mos. now and I am burned out from it and want to move on... He just will not meet me in person as of yet, and we are 1.5 hour away from each other...
Just call me kwazy!

Tiger flips out and kills man at San Francisco zoo..
Posted: 12/29/2007 5:47:34 PM
I have a family member that is in Sr. Management for the SF Zoo. The story has come to fruition that the tiger was being teased by the boys. In the end what I find very sad is that the tiger was killed, all because of what these boys started!
I am not heartless, and yes the wall was not built tall enough but if you penned me up for my life where normally I would be free to roam and then antagonize me. I don't care what you say, those boys were in the wrong from the beginning.
just my 2 cents......
