For those who don't have pictures...why?
Posted: 8/30/2006 11:22:51 AM
P.O.F. would be even better than it is now if a picture was a requirement. If you have such a "high profile" position, why aren't you meeting anyone on your own? Get over it people!
Enough excuses already!

Do You Men Read Our Whole Profiles?
Posted: 8/28/2006 4:17:23 PM
Yes, I do read the whole profile if I plan on writing to the person. Although I tend to the look at a profile kind of like a resume and look for selling points. First and foremost a picture. This to me shows that the person doesn't have anything to hide. To tell you the truth, when the "about me" section looks like a novel, I'll move on. If after two paragraphs you haven't caught my attention, it's point and click time!

I'm amazed someone finally responded to this thread! Thanx ponygirl! Yes, I would agree with you. When I first posted this I was amazed at how many women in here are either in total denial, or don't own a mirror. Average is average, overweight is overweight, and skinny is skinny. I lean towards the later......definitely not average!

Hey Shy, I'm happy that you feel relieved. It looks like you made the right choice by having used the faith that your H.P. gave you and the strength to let go and let him take the wheel.

girl44, If your ex is practicing his program, he will eventually get to step nine where we list all persons we harmed and make amends to them all. Sometimes this may take some time because recovering addicts need to work on themselves first. Many of us don't start to realize the total amount of damage we've done to our family and friends until we get completely honest with ourselves. Until then, all you can do is pray for him. Remember that just because he has stopped drinking does not mean that he isn't still sick.

A.A. has nothing to do with religion! Step 2 clearly states that we came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. In our guidelines all that is required is that our Higher Power be kind, loving and greater than ourselves. Most people first choose the group as their H.P., because as a group they are much greater than yourself. Actually, you and one other person is a power greater than yourself. Coming to believe for most of us is a process. This means we don't walk out of a meeting having full belief in anything, only that we MUST open our minds to the idea that there may be a H.P., and it possibly could restore us to sanity. This H.P. is how you understand or not understand it. This is our own very personal higher power which I happen to call God. It's not my mothers or my priests, it's mine. Gotta go.......maybe you can add R.L..............

Hi, my name is Miche and I'm an alcoholic. I have been told that it only takes two people to hold a meeting. Someone told me once that a drunk of a stockbroker and a washed up alcoholic doctor were the first two to hold a meeting. They also told me that they went looking for other drunks to hang out with so they wouldn't drink themselves! Sounds like an odd way to get sober to me. I don't know, I just heard that once, and thought I'd share it with you.

Does anyone here take EFFEXOR or ZYPREXA?
Posted: 11/26/2005 11:07:40 PM
I take 300mg. of Effexor XR a day and have had great results. If you are currently taking them, do not stop suddenly. Effexor has a half life of 24hrs. and can cause severe withdrawl very quickly. There have been cases of suicide from withdrawl. It is NOT normal to be chronically depressed, some people have low levels of dopamine and this drug can help them as it has helped me. It may take up to 2 months to reach your desired level. Your doctor will slowly increase your dosage until your depression is controlled.

Welcome.......We've started this thread for anyone who may have questions concerning A.A. / N.A. membership, meetings, sponsors, the steps, traditions or just asking for help.
No question is a dumb question as long as it has to do with the fellowships.

Hello everyone.........In my experience I've found that the only ones that run are people who know nothing about A.A/N.A., generally ones who seen first hand the destruction caused by the practicing alcoholic and not the life rebuilding and personality change of the recovering one. My sponsor once told me that when my love for the alcoholic is greater than the drink itself, I will have the true freedom of choice.
I've met more loving, genuinely caring and interesting people in the rooms than anywhere else in my life. Hey Ruby...........Let me know when you've "mastered" John Barleycorn!
That's all, I'll pass.....................

LET THEM RUN !!!!

Just read this entire thread and found it interesting. I generally have gotten very positive responses from people when I tell them I'm a RECOVERING alcoholic and that I'm very active in AA/NA. This desease affects so many people, and sometimes I get a special connection to someone who later tells me that I remind them of someone who was close to them and only wished they had done what I'm doing now and lived.

I saw this black parasite with a big screen TV. Where do you think he was carrying it to?

A.) To his biological fathers house. (kind of tuff when you don't know him)
B.) To sell for cash to feed his family. (kind of tuff when you don't know where they live)
C.) To his crack dealer. (probably his biological father selling out of his baby/mothers house)

So tired of games
Posted: 8/23/2005 8:31:26 PM
Seems to me that in here, being truthfull and up front are a liability. I've written many sincere notes to local women of P.O.F. without any response. Can anyone say...common courtesy!
I've found that in the forums people tend to be a little more realistic about themselves. First and foremost, post a picture ^^^^^^^, then a realistic description of yourself, along with realistic expectations I feel would go a long way in here.

Hello from central Pa.
Posted: 7/28/2005 2:23:27 PM
Hello everyone,
My name is Michel, and I live in Mifflin co.. I've been in here a few weeks now, and the fish don't seem to be biting. I am fairly determined to catch something, so I thought that I should change bait. Normally what I used before seemed to work pretty well.
Maybe their just not hungry from all the crap that's been force fed to them. Maybe their afraid I might squeeze them to hard when I do catch them, only to throw them back. I enjoy fishing, although it can be challenging. I'm not looking for a trophy to hang on my wall, just one nice one to take home.

What do you think of my profile
Posted: 7/25/2005 9:44:37 PM
First; what type of profession is Morgage?
Second; under "About Me", first you say you want to be by yourself, then you say you don't want to be by yourself. Which is it?
Third; your not sending a very positive message living with someone while your looking for someone in here.
