Thinking of downgrading?
Posted: 6/8/2008 1:57:08 PM
If I'll be downgrading, it will only be due to insurance costs.

I cycle/bus pretty much everywhere short distance I need to go during time living onshore
Hmm, for my 2.5 liter 1998 ford cougar, I only fill it up once every 2 weeks at best. And with my work schedule that means once a month at best. £50, Yearly road tax at £175 (as far as I'm aware that won't be changing.

It's the insurance that is the killer at £550/month (cheapest from admiral courtesy of confused.com at the moment). due to my "yoof" and whatever other factors.

Would you date a woman who doesn't want kids?
Posted: 6/8/2008 4:57:05 AM
Why is it that all you women who do not want kids are all over the atlantic?

I've lost my very best friends to the domesticity/fatherhood route. I've seen first hand what they have gone/are going through and I nearly Sh!t myself because of it.

My only beef with women who don't want kids is that there are practically none of them around where I live, for their relativeley young age (my preferred is 19-early 30's) their biological clocks tick louder than an Arab on an Israeli bus. many already have more than one sproglet in tow and I Never want to date any with them because I do not want to be some kind of surrogate father figure.

That and I'm too much of a big kid myself

UK Taxes
Posted: 6/7/2008 5:35:49 PM
I am someone who works in the oil industry, however many of you notice this already. In terms of Petrol costing as much it is, I believe it is fairly priced. Considering the amount of Large scale Drilling, Engineering, Piping, Transporting, Shipping etc that needs to be done in order to get it from embedded in the earth's geology to the pumps. BUT- and like that belonging to an average american, it is a big "but" the real cost of all the above processes is only around 35+ pence/liter (this is what I meant by it being priced fairly) it is a bunch of additional taxes and surcharges that Hawk the price up to around the £1.20 Mark.

My main beef is with road tax, which we have to pay on cars. My belief in terms of making things fair and helping everyone to be more "green" would be to ditch the Road tax, and just have the fuel duty, ergo the more someone drives and uses the car, the more duty they pay. and vice versa.

Young People on dating sites, why?
Posted: 6/7/2008 4:50:59 PM
MSG 27+29 You gals should take up engineering! Plenty of Blokes. (only 3 women on my degree course) then Get jobs on Drilling rigs so I can get some female company when I'm at work!!

In short I was pretty much the same. (genders reversed mind)

Coupled with that I Cannot stand the nightlife round where I live (Unless anyone knows anywhere that Plays any good "Neue Deutsche Härte", Metal, EBM, or Industrial of an evening, or of any good Comedy nights in or around Aberdeen then I will stand corrected). and don't have the finance to move elsewhere in the country at present. (and won't have for a long while thanks to the current housing markets and all banks going t!ts up)

Also current job means I'm away at often VERY short notice.

Eurovision - boom bang a bang
Posted: 5/30/2008 8:02:05 PM
I agree with el Tel!! It's time for the Brits to stop Airing the Eurovision song contest!!

I was all for it a couple of years back when Finnish Monster-metallers Lordi Won it . but the ones since haven't picked up the baton from there!! :(

But that's not why I want it off the British Screens. Nor is it the reason of Political voting in Favour of Eastern European countries that Wogan and others have noticed recently.

My personal Beef is that in order to Broadcast that Audio-visual Merde-heap, THE BEEB DECIDED NOT TO BROADCAST THAT WEEK'S EPISODE OF DOCTOR WHO!!

Woe betide anyone or anything who gets in the way of my weekly viewing of Tennant & Company's time-travelling Escapades

Hmm, there's nothing here about the kind of Car i drive.

It's a Latter Generation ford (or for you guys across the pond: Mercury) Cougar. Classed as a "front drive Sports Coop!!

Strong, Powerful, Reliable, Practical, Good masculine lines, curves and features. can successfully take all twists and turns thrown at it. at times conventional, at other times in need of a Darn good seeing to... but enough about me, I'm quite unsure how to describe the car, really...

When did laughter hurt anybody?

The Jeremy Beadle ones did get out of hand though.

whether you meant it or not... I Like it!!

I have a very filthy, very sick, perverted and dare i say it sexist sense of humor. I dunno whether I gained it because of working on onshore and offshore drilling rigs OR wherther it was already part of me and has enabled me to enjoy my work...

I love acts like Roy Chubby Brown, Kevin Bl**dy Wilson, and more recently "K*nt and the gang" (who I just got back from seeing tonight in Edinburgh, F'in quality!! )

For people that don't appreciate the sick stuff, it's their loss.. and it doesn't just apply to us Brits, I've worked with Dutchmen, Germans, and Scandinavians that would make any of the above 3 resemble Mary Whitehouse reading a nursery rhyme. And I myself am Italian born as well.

and here's my tuppence worth to the contributions.

a French car manufacturer has recently annouced a People carrier so spacious and so luxurious, that you'l barely notice your kids in the back seat.

they've called it the Renault McCann!!

do a net search for "Lucy Pinder" ( she's a UK-based model who doesn't tend to wear much above the waist line warning Images are quite revealing) In my opinion she is the ultimate example of having "curves".

bringing up an old thread here.

I'm earning good wages in the UK and can't get a mortgage big enough to buy a place for the first time (even though I've beein quoted over six figures in sterling) I was considering Germany but my work want me to stay on UK soil (I'm an oilfield worker who travels abroad a lot)

I googled alternative housing, and found this Idea from one of the results. this is certainly the way forward!! this is definitley the solution to the affordable housing problem that exists in the UK. so Brown and his cronies will not Go for this I reckon

But anyone know where to find Land in or outside of cities on the cheap in the uk. if I can find some then it's full steam ahead with this!!

Loved it!!

Would have appreciated it more if the part where he attacked those Arabs (whilst donned in the mark 1 suit) was soundtracked by the black sabbath song of the same name but we got it in the end when the credits rolled

That's just made me think, did the song inspire the comic? or did the comic inspire the song?

How many women are young, never had kids, and DON'T want them?
Posted: 5/5/2008 6:58:00 PM
I wholeheartedly agree with the Original poster here.

Up to age 25 I was a social wreck of a human being. I couldn't meet/attract/ get laid with any woman to save my life. But things changed for the better work wise and I'm now financially stable, childless, and have a well paying job I enjoy, As a result I now have more confidence in myself, I know what I want with respect to women and dating. This may sound like I'm deviating off topic here, but please bear with me.

However with respect to kids, that is a big no no. I won't have my own, nor will I take anyone else's on board. My Edinburgh-based best friend discovered his girlfriend was pregnant when we were both 21 (21 FFS!! ) we were due to move in with each other to a joint-leased property in Edinburgh 1 week after he discovered this. He decided to "do the decent thing" and keep the Child. So this put a huge spanner in the works for my long term plans at the time. this kinda put me off the idea of having kids, at first, out of resentment. But over the years since then I've seen what he has become since having a kid, and what he and his partner have had to go through first hand (especially since they "fired out" another nearly a year ago) and to be honest, That has totally scared me brown-stuff less. The same fate has befallen my closest friend that lives where I am withing the last few months, and since then I've searched around where i am and there are no willing doctors willing to put me forward for a vasectomy. :(

Cut to the present day where I am (aberdeen, Scotland) The vast majority of women I speak to online or meet out in town in my desired age bracket (20 - early 30's) all seem to have biological clocks that tick louder than an Arab on an Isreali bus. They all seem to have one or more kids in tow AND WANT MORE!! a large chunk of girls I went to school with (having seen what become of them through social networking sites like myspace etc) Got married (sometimes twice) early in their twenties and spawned away since.

judging by the postings here, It may look like I have to cross the pond to get with women who want to remain childless.

Travelled From La Spezia in NW Italy back to Aberdeen, Scotland (via Paris).after staying there visiting family. Train from La spezia to Genoa was delayed so I thought I was gonna miss my plane. but caught it on time

but then had a 6 hour wait in Charlie de Gaul to catch the plane back to Aberdeen. What's wierd was if I caught an earlier flight from Paris the flight would have cost me an extra £200

Ah well, suppose I can wait to save money, (typical aberdonian)

As a current singleton myself, my main requirement for a prospective parter would be AT THE VERY LEAST, to have 2 arms and 2 legs.

If Paul had stuck to the same guns when he was ready to try again he wouldn't be in this mess!!

Anyways, was it 3 or 4 years they were together before seperating. Lets take 4 as an assumption. he's no spring chicken any more. So lets say they got down to business 4 times a year. (on average, I'm still taking into account the absolute parental tiredness + lack of sleep and sex stage both during pregnancy and after their daughter was born)

ergo, that's 4 shags a year over 4 years = 16 shags in total. the finalised figure she's getting is £24.3 million.

Therefor thats (24.3/16 = ) £1.52 million per horizontal jogging session. He could have gone to central Amsterdam or the Reeperbahn and had fun with a more "whole" woman for a fraction of the price, rather than the other way round!!

Anyways after a more serious note the stuff she was Saying on the news Made me want to Snap off her falser and Repeatedly beat her round the noggin with it till some sense got into her. (a task which may take some time, any volunteers? )

Listen here missy if I had even 1/10th of what you got. I would fly first class whenever I want Wherever I want as often as I want for the rest of my life. So shut it before someone welds it!!

What would you chose for YOUR email restrictions?
Posted: 3/17/2008 8:32:07 AM
IT seems I have alienated the entire single female population of northern Scotland. But my main restrictions would be...

1) Must not have kids (of any age)
2) Must not want kids

Mainly because I'm too big a kid myself already

in an ideal world the rest would be....

Aged between late teens and early 30s
Love Rock/metal/alternative music and want to go to regular gigs.
Love Filthy and Politically incorrect humor (otherwise we just won't get on)
Having plenty up top and be partial to Giving regular Cucumber sandwiches.
Must not "wear woolly knickers"
Know that Satire IS NOT the scottish flag.
Be tolerant of my work (I'm away for spells for up to 3 weeks at a time often at same day's notice)

Be as horny as I am and be willing to do some "dirty deeds dirt cheap" as often as I would

Is it still on elsewhere in the uk? Have car... and bloodlust... Will travel!!

Birthdays on celebrated days.....nice or not?
Posted: 3/13/2008 3:35:57 AM
In reply to everyone who was born in or around christmas, I wholeheartedly sympathise, mine's on christmas eve :( in the earlier years It was a case of one pressy to cover both.

But since I left school I've only been able to Celebrate with my Immediate family (parents) I've never been able to get any friends or aquaintances to come out and celebrate another year I've lived.

However in My work, we are not allowed to request holidays around the festive season, instead we can choose to have either christmas or new years off. Last year (by choice) I requested to work over christmas (and hence my b'day) rather than feel sad at home. If everyone's lamenting being skint I may as well get a few pennies in the bank.

they heeded My re request and I was sent to NW germany again. However when I was there I wasn't expecting anything. But before I was about to drive to the site and start my night shift, the hoteliers bought out a cake and everyone in the bar/restaurant area (including my colleagues working at various sites where I was) burst into song. and bought out a cake and a bottle of champers. . It turns out, my mum tipped the hotel off a couple of days before hand and they had a bit of time to prepare while keeping it under wraps. It was a strange yet humble feeling I got celebrating my birthday with people outside my own immediate family for the first time since I left school

Severe Winds to hit the West and South of the country.....
Posted: 3/13/2008 3:19:02 AM
I've been working in germany these last 3 weeks in the north west Flatlands near the dutch border. The weather here has tended to be a precursor to the kinda wheather that region of the UK seems to endure. People seem to get on with things here, but the wind actually flung me to the ground when i was working at a rigsite one day

I've been working with several dutch guys and they are saying holland is panick stricken just now because of this weather. over there in the last few months they had to raise the barrickades and close Rotterdam Harbour. Also in the area of friesland there is the old 19th century (ish) steam powered water pump (that flushes water out to sea) that untill the start of the year was a major (albeit non functioning) dutch tourist attraction. but they actually had to start that pump up to function properly recently due to the insane rain levels had over there to prevent flooding.

also here, this happened as well at hamburg the weather's picking up here as well and I'm a bit fearful of flying at the moment, especially if I have to take a fokker 50 flight from Bremen to Amsterdam.

best video game of all time
Posted: 2/24/2008 2:53:45 PM
My fave games consist of the following with no real all time fave,

in no particular order..

Hostile waters - a good command an conquer come battlezone game, that got the praise it deserved, just not the sales. :(

Darwinia - a must play for all retroheads, it's tron meets command and conquer meets cannon fodder meets lemmings, and I find those green blippy stick figures (darwinians) really cute in a pet kinda way.

FEAR, one game that succeed in genuinely scaring the brown stuff outa me. That Little girl Alma (and her later "anorexic kate moss" incarnation) still haunt my nightmares.

and lastly, for quite possibly the Biggest adrenalin rush i ever received whilst playing a game, despite it being something of a Robotron X clone, Super smash TV. I slept for 12 hours after a straight playthrough of that after I found that as a ROM that came with a SNES Emulator.

Best gig/concert you've ever been to
Posted: 2/9/2008 1:09:53 AM
the 3 best nights of my life in a row have been 3 gigs in December 2003, don't get to go to that many these days cause of my job.

I had no transport at the time so resorted to taking my (cycle) bike on the Train from Aberdeen.

Dec 08, 2003 - Iron Maiden, Glasgow SECC That was Briiant.

Dec 09, 2003 - The Darkness, Edinburgh Corn Exchange. Not long after their brit awards performance, the gig was planned 9 months earlier before they hit the big time, what a voice!! and what a band. They didn't need to progress beyond schlock****rock, it's what they did best. I thought one way ticket was a good album

Dec 10, 2003 - Back home to Aberdeen, Saw Norwegian Band Turbonegro, at the lemon tree. Think the village people managed by Maralyn Mansun, Very entertaining . Although a mail sailor goth-punk groping my groin did spoil the night a bit.

A new holiday for men, Spread the word!!
Posted: 2/8/2008 4:39:21 PM
Every 14th of February you get the chance to display your fondness for your wife/girlfriend (or both) by showering them with gifts, flowers, dinner, or any other guff she finds romantic.

Men everywhere feel left out!! There’s no special holiday for the ladies to show their appreciation for the men in their life. Which is why a new holiday should be created.

March the 20th has been announced officially as “Steak, Blowjob, and ‘Shut the **** up’ “ day. Simple effective, and self explanatory… This holiday’s been created so that the woman/en in a man’s life can show just how much they love him.

No cards, No Flowers, No special nights on the town, the name of the holiday explains it all. Just a steak, a BJ, And no need to open your mouth for the rest of the day. That’s it!!

This Twin pairing of Valentine’s day, plus “steak, blowjob, and ‘Shut the **** up’ day” will usher in a new era of love as men everywhere will try harder in February to ensure a more memorable March. It’s a perpetual 2 months of good times and lovin’!!

The word is already spreading, but as with many new Idea, it needs a little push to start the ball rolling. So spread the word, and help bring love and peace back to this crazy world!

My feelings came about because I was going to move to a different area of the country with my best friend (into the place he stayed with his brother, till i sorted myself out) shortly after I graduated university (we were both 21) as I struggled to find employment in my desired industry. then A week Before I was going to move to where he stayed, he announced that his girlfriend was pregnant and he was going to take on the headyness of fatherhood.... AT 21!!!! (hence scuppering my plans). Down the line i saw what became of him and he quickly became shadow of his former self. physically unfit and very subdued moreso as the kid grew up. Recently him and his partner had another one. his transformation and the stuff he had to go through as a young dad SCARED me brown-stuff-less.

iIt was only in the last 2 years did I manage to find a secure, well payed job that I enjoy doing, however between then and university that I worked in a horrible job and was my morale and confidence was non-existant, and as a result my social/dating/sex life was the same. Now I'm feeling happier with myself and ready to kick start my social/romantic life, But I still will NOT have kids involve, I won't have my own, nor will I take anyone else's on board. However it seems many women in their early - late 20's where I am (aberdeen, Scotland), have all got at least one kid in tow and are (supposedly) happily engaged or even married. Just about every single - single woman in my desired age bracket here (early 20's - early 30's) has at least one kid it would seem. .

I'm sorry, but seeing someone that comes "as a package" or "with Baggage" is something I can't do, not at my stage in life. I want to enjoy myself, and can't do that around kids.

I live my life by the following Mottos:

"the only Offspring I desire, is their back catalogue.

and when you go diving, wear a wetsuit. and make sure there's enough water to go swimming otherwise the suit will tear!!

Now if you're a single woman from Aberdeen between 20 and 30, you're childless and your biological clock has stopped ticking, Hit me up (although I will be moving to Edinburgh in june )

Last minute Ski holidays
Posted: 1/30/2008 10:14:57 AM
I've had holidays between the 10th and the 20th for a while now, but work are constantly kicking me round the continent at short notice, hence I've not had that much time to get this sorted.

I've got holidays between the 10th-20th of Feb, and I wanna go skiing for that. I'm after a resort (either in Mainland Europe or Scandinavia, May consider elsewhere) that caters for the single traveller and gives me the opportunity to be social without being seen as a loner weirdo (chalet holidays preferred, hotels are less than Ideal and i HATE single supplements!!). I'm also after somewhere with apres ski/nightlife that caters towards the rocker/metalhead where I can meet plenty of women into the same stuff

Anyone got any idea on places to go? i'm tempted by the Sauze D'oulx in Italy. but I can't seem to get any details on its nightlife just yet, also waiting on a chalet . Please help a single rocker have fun

hello there, fit like etc? just thought I'd post and make myself known

I'm a rock/metalhead who's also a Service hand to the on/offshore oil & gas industry.

I'm going to be moving to Edinburgh in June so I'm looking for some childless single women for some fun in the Aberdeen+shire area to make my remaining time there more bearable.

To Quote Primal Scream's "kill all hippies"..

"this is gorgeous signing off"
