Well, well, well...I AM impressed! Impressed and reassured that things turn out. I'm happy to hear all of your success stories. I've never been one to give up and since I tend to stay so busy, it's not like I'll be focusing all of my attention on finding a mate anyway. This is my first time in a "forum" (as opposed to Personals sites) so perhaps something will come of this venture. Thanks everyone.

Believe me Babygurl, I KNOW how you feel. It doesn't change as you get older. Good for you for recognizing what you DON'T want and sticking to your guns. Sometimes people my age still haven't made that determination yet and never figure out why they're unhappy. Keep up the good work!

Babygurl, I couldn't agree more. One of the main things about me is that as I've aged, I have developed zero patience for games. The only games I play are euchre and dice.

Well now, that depends. It can vary Ticket. Sometimes it's the physical appearance (if they've been sending you older pics)..sometimes it's what comes out during conversations. Sometimes it's just an unknown "something"...

lol...well now we've gone from Molly Matchmaker to Dr. Berry! (Just teasing you). I agree completely with you Holly and I think it's more about not meeting enough new people in general. Work does keep me very busy and travelling out of the country a lot. I'm meeting a ton of new people....just none at home! :)

That's right. Perhaps the desire for having that perfect match is so strong that it makes it easier to believe the "chemistry" is there...until you meet face to face.

Hmmmm....well, now that you mention it Miss Molly Matchmaker, ;) ...it might be worth giving it a shot. I'll check around town and see what groups are here. Thanks!

Yeah, I agree with you Excalibur. It's back to work for me tomorrow as well so I'll not have much time for moaning about the lack of women in Ontario! :)

lol..not to worry. I'd never do such a thing to a woman of your obvious integrity. Thanks for the responses. Say! You don't have an older sister, do you? :)

Ok. From all of the feedback I've received so far, I guess I'll remain cautiously optimistic. I'd rather not have to go to China to find my partner if I can help it though..(although there is a definite attraction to Asian ladies)..I'll just keep putting feelers out for women living in Canada, preferably Ontario. Thanks for all your comments and of course, more are always welcome.

No argument there Ruby. I'll ask you the same question I asked Holly...do you think it was a good match?

Well Ticket, I'd agree with some of the other comments made in another discussion that online is a great place to "meet" someone (which should, by the way read, "introduce yourself to someone") but the actual face to face, physical meeting is all-important. I've never been one to believe in chemistry, but you certainly can fill in a lot of gaps that online relationships leave open. It's been my experience so far that the match that seemed made in heaven online turns out to be lacking in realtime. This is true for both parties most times but sometimes only one party realizes that "taking it to the next level" is not the option of choice.

My Goodness Holly! You DO get around these forums! I'll continue to remain optimistic but would love to know how you have so much time to surf from one forum to another in here...lol. You never answered my question in the other thread though. Would you say it was a good match?

Can Two People Really Meet and Begin a Relationship in a Forum?

I've been actively online for about the past 4 years now. I've talked to hundreds of women. I've met a dozen or so of them...all to no avail. I really thought with the advent of the internet that it would be the ideal place to meet people. Don't get me wrong, I've met some GREAT people over the years and have kept in communication with a goodly number of those as well.
Of course, it doesn't take long to learn that the internet is also a fantastic venue for creating a fantasy self too. I'm sure that at one time or another, we've all been taken in by someone who turned out to be nothing as they portrayed themselves to be online. Once you learn to be more cautious and can ascertain you're talking with who you THINK you're talking to, what then? Perhaps it's just an age thing? I mean, as I've gotten older I've found it harder to meet women...maybe that's all it is. You see a lot of younger people hooking up online..maybe the internet is only for "youthful" relationships.
Geography. That's another one. Why is it people can hook up and get along so well, seemingly a perfect match for each other,...only to be at opposite ends of the country from each other? Or other countries completely? What I'd like is some reassurance that it IS in fact possible to meet someone online who's real, a good match, AND doesn't live on the other side of the planet from you.
Thanks for listening to me vent.
