dangers of riding without a helmet
Posted: 11/1/2012 10:07:35 AM
when I was young, I only wore my helmet when I was riding trails. Since having a Traumatic Brain Injury in a mountain biking bail 13 years ago, I'm glad I was!! I wear my helmet whenever I'm on my bike now! What really grinds my gears, is when I'm riding the seawall, and I see a family riding their bikes. The kids all have their helmets on, but the parents don't. Helmets are not like training wheels!! You still have a chance to fall! Being higher up, gives you more leverage

Not married by 30, will it happen, ever?
Posted: 10/7/2012 5:40:10 PM
I'm 31, and I'll probably be single fo a while longer. I joke around, saying, "THE GIRLS 'I' WANNA DATE, ALL THINK I'M CRAZY! AND THE GIRLS WHO WANNA DATE 'ME', ARE EVEN CRAZIER THAN I AM!!"
I've got my own sh1t going on right now, and I'm working through it! When I'm ready to date again, I guess I'll see if anyone is interested. I still live with my parents, because I'm collecting disability pension from the ministry. When most girls hear that a 31yo man still lives with his mom and dad, it's generally a big turn-off. But if they're so quick to judge me without hearing my crazy story, then I'm better off without 'em! But if I tell TOO much of my crazy story, it might send em running and screaming away!! LOL

So why don't you play an instrument? (or do you?)
Posted: 10/6/2012 8:59:01 PM
my mother taught me piano when I was young. I played trumpet in the elementary school band. And I played guitar all through high school. I don't pick up my guitars much anymore, because I busted up my wrist really bad in a mountain biking bail 13 years ago. I can play a bit, but nowhere as well as I used to. There have been times where I couldn't make the transition from one chord to the other, and it had frustrated me to the state of tears at times. My playing has gotten better, but I know it would be even better, the more I got at it.

do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one?
Posted: 3/7/2012 5:16:57 PM
CONFIDENCE AND PERSONALITY IS SEXY!!
I see a lot of bashing going on about "Skinny Girls vs Fat Girls", and "Curvy Women vs Stick Thin Women". The argument is ugly and immature!! I am attracted to a woman with confidence, who is outgoing and fun to be around!! I know security is tough to come across these days, what with the big role that the media plays into everything :p but I would love it if some of you could just get over this juvenile squabble, and accept yourself while ignoring the imature haters!

How far will you travel for a date??
Posted: 2/12/2012 11:11:07 AM
For a date? I'd go as far as my bus pass would take me!!
She'd have to be a very special woman for me to go any further!!
I'd have to see how far "SHE" wanted to go!!
Maybe we could meet in the middle??

Spelling or not?
Posted: 8/15/2011 4:56:58 PM
We all make a mistake here or there typing to fast
I think you mean TOO fast!
I notice that a lot in places online! Maybe it's the "hip new thing" to spell like an illiterate third grader? maybe it's a sign of todays educational system? It's not just men, but I notice a lot of girls who've left me wondering how they managed to get through grade school!

At what age are you a cougar?
Posted: 7/8/2011 6:08:02 PM
there is no "set" age at which one becomes a cougar!
a cougar is any age of a woman who preys on younger men!
if you constantly go after younger men, then THAT qualifies you as a cougar !

Are you attracted to the same type everytime?
Posted: 2/3/2011 1:40:24 AM
I tend to wind up with the same type of girl every time I go out with anyone. Maybe I'm just too eager to meet up with someone that I wind up dating the same type of girl every time?? As far as a "body type" goes, I tend to be more attracted to a more "full figured" woman. But I generally wind up with a lot more baggage than I anticipated, upon getting to know them. I am a very empathetic individual, and I am well aware that everyone has their faults. I have just found myself getting in too deep with someone elses drama a lot of the time.

Greatest Rock Bass Men
Posted: 9/26/2010 10:43:44 PM
my favorite bass player is Matt Freeman, from punk rock bands like Rancid, Operation Ivy, and his new rockabilly project, Devils Brigade. His playing is just amazing!! There are youtube videos of him performing live, when Rancid played their song Maxwell Murder, (which has an amazing bass solo in the original recording), where he goes off on an EXTENDED bass solo. It is always amazing to listen to him play!!

Hunter or the hunted?
Posted: 8/18/2010 9:55:36 AM
When I'm out, I mainly just observe my surroundings. I'll test the water with a lil flirting, and judge by what sort of reaction I receive, whether to pursue the prey further, or if I'll become the prey. It's happened numerous times, but never really amounted to much. I'm basically tired of meeting girls in bars and clubs!!

What is the definition of a 'cougar'?
Posted: 7/31/2010 10:39:59 AM
I have met many older women, and I get along better with them than I do with most girls my own age! They're more fun to hang out with sometimes. I used to go out to lots of pof functions, and I was always the "baby" of the crowd. I could just about get away with murder because I was charming and cute.
I've been more attracted to the older women because they appreciate a guy who treats them with respect and flatters them with compliments. I've found that a lot of the girls in my age bracket are just that! "GIRLS". They're too juvenile, and still wooed by material possessions :p

"Nice Guys Finish Last", by Green Day
Nice guys finish last.
You're running out of gas.
Your sympathy will get you left behind.
Sometimes you're at your best, when you feel the worst.
Do you feel washed up, like piss going down the drain
Pressure cooker pick my brain and tell me I'm insane.
I'm so ****ing happy I could cry.
Every joke can have its truth and now the joke's on you.
I never knew you were such a funny guy.
Oh nice guys finish last, when you are the outcast.
Don't pat yourself on the back you might break your spine.
Living on command.
You're shaking lots of hands.
You're kissing up and bleeding all your trust, taking what you need.
Bite the hand that feeds.
You lose your memory and you got no shame.

"Dateless Loser", by Reel Big Fish
We are all on our own with no one by our side
You are so lucky, beautiful and bright
All the cool kids go steady they're making out at 12-
we sit in our rooms alone
by ourselves it's Friday- no phone call, nobody asked us out
We are the dateless losers- lonely until we die!
So unappreciated, why, why, why, why?
We’re not so bad you know, but you won’t give us a chance
Take us to the movies, to dinner, or to dance
Not perfect, not too hip- but we need lovin’ too
We are the dateless losers- lonely until we die!
So unappreciated why, why, why, why?

What is the definition of a 'cougar'?
Posted: 5/12/2010 9:53:32 AM
Cougars are Women in their PRIME: independent, sexy and wildly successful. They enjoy men that are youthful, fit with the same zest for life. Cougars are classy, confident women that already possess many of the finer things in life — but now want the young, hot guy to go with it.

At what age are you a cougar?
Posted: 5/10/2010 5:14:36 PM
a MILF can be a cougar
the word MILF is an acronym, meaning Mother I'd Like to F***
some cougars may have no children, while others may have some in the age bracket of the younger men they pursue.
I enjoy the company of the older women I've met, whether it's something sexual or not.
I've actually found approaching an older woman is a little less intimidating. So many "girls" in my age bracket are too pretentious for their own good, and I get bored of trying to keep up with their stupid mind games.

Loved the sports! Hated the cheesy Closing Ceremony!
Posted: 3/5/2010 12:02:46 PM
I LOVED the closing ceremonies. If there's one thing Canadians are good at, it's poking fun at ourselves. The whole ordeal with the Mime pulling the forth leg out of the ground. And then all of the stereotypical Canadiana, (Mounties, giant Beavers and Mooses). I was almost hoping that John Cleese and Eric Idle would pop out of nowhere and start singing their Lumberjack song from Monty Python. I liked it, up until the bands played. If the bands played some sort of song with an Olympic Celebration theme, that would've been cool. But just playing their latest Top 20 hit song that we've all heard a million times a day just seemed dumb. I was kinda surprised to see Neil Young perform! I thought that with all of his hippy beliefs that he woulda been against the whole Olympic monstrosity. Is it so bad of me that I was hoping Chad Kroeger would take a dive off of that big ledge?

Dramatically changing your look or style
Posted: 2/12/2010 8:19:05 PM
when I was 16, I had a Mohawk. ha ha! I thought I was pretty hardcore punk-rock!!
Some of my friends thought that it was cool. While others wondered wtf I was thinking
It was an experience! It wasn't very "convenient" so I never went back to the bright red liberty spikes
I shaved the Mohawk myself, and it turned out kinda crooked, so I had a friend help me correct it. I was basically bored, and wanted to try something new.

Photography

I do photography as a hobby!!
The photography market is so over-saturated, because there are so many dummies out there who think they are pro cuz they take macro shots of flowers.
With todays technology of digital camera's, it will be hard for any serious PRO to compete with the average dummy and their SLR they bought at Wal Mart

my fav intro of ANY song I've heard is Matt Freemans bass intro on the song Blacklisted, by Rancid. A 27 second long song from the SHORT MUSIC FOR SHORT PEOPLE punk rock compilation CD
Every time I hear that guys intense bass playing, it hurts my fingers

I do a lot of walking and cycling. I mainly want to improve my cardio. I used to work out ay gyms, but always felt a lil intimidated by the muscleheads who'd do a single lift of 300 or so pounds, and then walk around the gym for 5mins thinking he's king shit. When I work out, I do it to tone my body, not to look like some powerlifting juice junky. As soon as the weather clears up, I'm gonna be out on my bike whenever I can!!

Making Believe - Social Distortion
Making believe,
That you still love me.
It's leaving me
Alone and so blue.
I'll always dream, but I'll never own you.
Making believe,
is all I can do.
Making believe,
That you still love me.
It's leaving me
Alone and so blue.
I'll always dream, but I'll never own you.
Making believe,
is all I can do.
I can't hold you close,
Darling when you're not near me,
You're somebody's love.
You'll never be mine.
Making believe,
I'll spend my lifetime
Loving you.
And making believe.
I can't hold you close,
Darling when you're not near me,
You're somebody's love.
You'll never be mine.
Making believe,
I'll spend my lifetime
Loving you.
And making believe.
Making believe,
That you still love me.
It's leaving me
Alone and so blue.
I'll always dream, but I'll never own you.
Making believe,
is all I can do.
I can't hold you close,
Darling when you're not near me,
You're somebody's love.
You'll never be mine.
Making believe,
I'll spend my lifetime
Loving you.
And making believe.
Just loving you.
And making believe.
Just loving you.
And making believe.

Beautiful People Only can apply...WTF....
Posted: 1/10/2010 1:52:27 PM
I submitted my profile to that site as a joke. I couldn't care less about being on a dating site for "Perfect People"
All the perfect people- Shallow and deceitful
Staring back at me on TV in magazines
Look so good like a box of fresh wrapped twinkies
What the hell happened to me?
So I took a drive to a rich and wealthy country
Saw everything I wanted and everything I need
Went right up and tried to join their party
You oughta seen the look when they saw me
****ed up eyes- Stupid grin
Perfect people won't let me in
Who's who list- Where's my name
They won't let me join their game
I bet you think that I'm insane
There's no one left for me to blame
Screw the perfect people
**** they all look the same
We're not much to look at
Too short, dumb and so fat
Never gonna win a beauty pageant it's a curse
Always gonna be a better doorman At the best clubs
How could thing's be any worse?
Don't have much to go on don't want your opinion
Don't have much to gain and I ain't got much to lose
Looks like you got it all and I'd really like to Get some
You got something I could use

What do you like most about BC
Posted: 12/30/2009 8:52:21 AM
I love that we've got beautiful nature so close to the hustle-bustle city life. I went for a hike around sasamat lake the other day, and was just blown away by the beauty of nature. I love getting out on my bike and riding around the UBC Endowment Lands, or the Riverview forest!! The air always feels so much fresher when you're out in the woods!!
I am fortunate where I live. I have a 10min walk to burnaby lake where I can walk around the lake, or stop by the nature park to feed the ducks. It is so peaceful and serene to be surrounded by nature, taking in the sights and sounds of it all.

if you saw a car accident?
Posted: 12/30/2009 8:47:12 AM
I saw an SUV flip onto its roof at Main and Terminal at 3am on Halloween night. I called 911 right away, and the medics were at the scene in no time! I couldn't see if there were any casualties from where I was standing.
I am a good samaritan, and I act as how I would hope others would act if "I" was in that situation.

Lotto Max
Posted: 12/7/2009 9:30:01 PM
I usually only buy one ticket per month. I've been on a streak now for the past few weeks where I keep winning a free ticket or something. I won $20 the other week, and that was better than a kick in the pants! But still, $5 for a ticket is asking a bit much, especially when the guys who NEED to win a large jackpot can't usually afford to blow $5 on a lotto ticket:p

INSTANT Turnoffs?

I've read through a few of the messages, and I agree with most of what everyone says.
The real "deal breaker" for me is if she chews with her mouth open!!!
that is one of my BIGGEST turnoffs
I'm sure I make some noise while I'm chewing. Heck! Everybody does!! But whatever noise I make doesn't bother me as much as when someone is sitting across from me, munching away like a cow chewing on some cudd!!
hahaha

Tara Reid to bare all for Playboy

I signed into msn, and the window popped up with a headline that read "TARA REID TO BARE ALL FOR PLAYBOY"
Does anybody even care??? I mean, C'mon!! We've all seen her pictures already. They're all over the internet, with stories about her "botched boob job", etc...
Maybe Playboy will airbrush her pictures enough so that they'll look somewhat normal??

80's PUNK
Posted: 11/13/2009 1:17:45 PM
I was born in HARDCORE 81, but I never really got into punk rock until 94 when Green Day and the Offspring first got popular. I love the older punk rock from the late70s and 80s like D.O.A., Bad Brains, Operation Ivy, Bad Religion, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and all of the other bands featured on the punk rock documentary AMERICAN HARDCORE. I love the sound of 80s punk!! The new stuff from Bad Religion is awesome! But just the "Sound" is way too clean and clear to be "punk rock" HAHAHA. Now that punk rock is gaining popularity, the bands are able to put more money into recordings. I actually prefer the sound of the earlier punk rock by all of those bands I mentioned!!

Is it possible to be romantic without opening one's wallet?
Posted: 10/18/2009 5:01:42 PM
"romance" isn't buying a girl things.
it's measured by your actions. what you say to her, and how you treat her.
If the woman you're seeing complains that you don't buy her stuff like chocolates and jewelry all of the time, and says you've lost your "romance", she's not the type of girl I think that ANYONE would wanna be dating.
Me, I speak from the heart, and treat women with the respect they deserve. Some deserve more respect than others, and that's just how I will treat them when I am around them.

Playoff hopes for Vancouver Canucks for 2009-10 season
Posted: 10/16/2009 6:29:34 PM
there are hopes for a playoff run each and every season!! The nucks start off the preseason good, and then the hopes always come crashing down as the boys choke on it as soon as the games start counting for anything. When was the last time a vancouver team won the stanley cup??? wasn't it like, in the 1920's???

So whats your plans for this weekend? Any POF dates?
Posted: 10/16/2009 6:20:58 PM
got a date with a lot of friends tomorrow night.
Tomorrow marks the 10yr anniversary of the day should've died.
I had a really bad bail while mountain biking, and spent 2 months in a coma.
Some of the friends will have been there to experience the craziness, while some of my newer friends will discover just how crazy it was for everyone!!
We'll hang out at my place and relax with some burgers and snacks before heading out to the pub for drinks and craziness!!

Songs that strike a personal chord....
Posted: 10/16/2009 2:04:10 AM
I love Eddie Vedder's cover of Last Kiss. That song always chokes me up whenever I try singing along.
Another song that strikes a chord with me, is the song SOMEONE'S IN HEAVEN, by the Reverend Horton Heat. They usually have rockabilly songs about beer, cars, gin&tonic, women, martini's.... but the Rev wrote a nice slow song about his mother passing away, and being reunited with his father in heaven. I'm not a religious man, but I am spiritual! When my grandmother died, I played that song at her funeral. My mom thought it was too bizarre how that song suited everything about my grandmother and my grandfather. I still get choked up whenever I listen to that song, thinking about her.

Favorite Hike?
Posted: 10/16/2009 1:57:12 AM
I like to just walk out my back yard, and walk around the Burnaby Lake trails. There are no uphill battles along the walk. It's nice to just get out of the house and away from a lot of the civilized craziness for a while!! There are lots of Mallards, Wood Ducks, and Canadian Geese at the BBY Lake Nature Park. It's cute in the springtime when all of the hatchlings are out with their parents!!

Bass players thread....
Posted: 10/10/2009 1:00:53 PM
Jimbo Wallace, from the Reverend Horton Heat plays an amazing stand-up bass!!
First time I ever saw him, I was 17, and the Rev was playing on the Warped Tour '98. I had only heard one of their songs previously, (PSYCHOBILLY FREAKOUT, on Beavis and Butthead), but I was just amazed at watching him play. He threw the big stand-up bass up in teh air, caught it, and continued playing without skipping a beat. I've seen them play live many times since then, and I love when they play their song I CAN'T SURF, Jimbo lays the bass on it's side and pretends to surf on the bass while playing it!!
I have a cheap Epiphone Accubass, and I can't read actual music very well. I prefer to use tab

Should a 42 year old male email a 31 year old lady ?
Posted: 9/8/2009 4:29:44 PM
as you get older, the age difference isn't such a big deal anymore
there should be nothing wrong with a 42 year old contacting a 31 year old
a 32 year old messaging a 21 year old is borderline. It depends on the individuals
but a 22 year old messaging an 11 year old is just plain wrong!!!

INSTANT Turnoffs?
Posted: 8/20/2009 9:07:46 AM
Everything everybody has mentioned is on my list of things that turn me off, but THE biggest turnoff for me, is whenever someone is chewing with their mouth open!! I understand some people have nasal problems, and trouble breathing, so I try to be sympathetic towards stuff like that. But it is my biggest pet peeve!! Whether I'm at dinner, or just overhearing someone chomping on their bubblegum on the bus/skytrain. Hence why I am rarely without my ipod when I leave the house!!!

do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one?
Posted: 7/30/2009 10:45:11 AM
Too many people strive to be like what they see on TV and Magazines, because we are bombarded with pressure to fit a certain dress size, or look a certain way, People need to accept themself for their true beauty!! Looks will fade with age, and you can only go so far in life when you're relying on your physical appearance to get you by.
The sexiest woman are the woman that are happy in their body and mind and it shows in their eyes and smile.
^ that quote pretty much sums it all up, (minus the grammaticle errors)!!!

do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one?

Curves are all good!!
but it has to be proportionate
I've seen girls with BIG chests whose butt is as flat as a board. That just doesn't look right, and isn't the least bit appealing to me!!
I've got nothing against small chested girls, it's just that I have a preference towards curvy/voluptuous women!! Someone who is HEALTHY. There are two extremes that I see a lot of. Either pencil thin super-model, or obesity. I am not physically attracted to either, but I like a healthy medium! Someone who is proud of who they are, and is able to go outside and do physical activities. Biking/Hiking....
I've known girls with eating disorders like bulemia, and they have no energy to do anything more active than walking around the mall.

Cure for a hangover?
Posted: 7/27/2009 6:09:02 PM
I cure hangovers by PREVENTING them. When I go out and get bombed, I generally start off with a bang, and then pace myself throughout the rest of the night. By the time I get home, I'm usually stone sober. If not, I'll stay up and watch crappy late night TV, or play Playstation until I stop getting the spins whenever I lay down and close my eyes.
If that still doesn't work; as a last resort, I've had to do the ol' "two finger" method to get it out of my system. Just remember to wash your hands and brush your teeth afterwards!! You dont wanna be smelling or tasting that at night!!:p

Should they bring back Spandex?
Posted: 7/25/2009 9:42:47 AM
I've seen a bumper sticker that says "SPANDEX; A PRIVELEDGE, NOT A RIGHT!!"
Some people suit spandex SOO much better than others. Mainly "skinny/athletic people". Spandex looks great on the joggers who are always running around the seawall, or on professional cyclists. But some people just do NOT suit spandex!!! And those are usually the ones who are exercising their right to wear it, (the closest thing to exercise they do!!):p I don't think spankdex should be banned. There should be qualifications you have to meet before being allowed to wear it in public!!
You'd never catch me dead in spandex, so you don't have to worry about that!!!

Should a band change their name if...
Posted: 7/10/2009 9:23:31 AM
A lot of bands have reunited with new lead singers, like Queen, and I think even the Doors. Certain bands, you just can't imagine anyone else singing the songs but the original singer. In the case of Doug and the Slugs, where Doug Bennett IS the voice of that band.
I had the pleasure of seeing Doug perform at the Eldorado Hotel Pub a few times before his death. He performed under the title "Doug and the Slugs", but it was a new batch of Slugs. I can't imagine anyone else but Doug singing those vocals!

BIKE OR BLADE THE SEAWALL & LUNCH AT SYLVIA HOTEL, Vancouver, Saturday, July 18th, 10:00 a.m.
Posted: 7/7/2009 12:02:56 AM
I injured my back a while ago, at the end of May, (in a stupid shopping cart accident). I have been going stir-crazy, wanting to ride around the seawall all of this time. I'm pretty sure I can make it out for this ride, (my back will have healed by then). Now it's just a final decision of "do I take my big kid bike? or do I take my cruiser that I've got in my profile pics??" My arse hurts after riding on that banana seat for too long, but I might be feeling stupid, and ride it anyways!! I'm known more for my looks than for my smarts, and that is pretty sad!!
