There is the element of academic snobbery i have encountered since i came to Australia.
I fought many battles with mostly young degree educated academics that were given a 'license to kill' by their lecturers - who often never worked outside of academia.
21 years ago with broken english i was an easy target for those snobs, they thought.

There is definately a problem within some strains of academia that have lost touch to reality.
Some universities have recognised that those young motivated and creative people that enter Uni often leave as dis-illusioned and brainwashed snobs with a chip on their shoulder.
I think it comes about from the gap in our Australian society between blue collar and white collar.
A remnant of the old english model of society?

On the whole though i will give credit where credit is due.
I will not assume that someone who survived 4 to 8 years of hard work at university is dummer than someone who hasnt even tried.
Coming from big industry i have spent some time lecturing Engineering Graphics and Design to engineering students here in Australia.
In 14 weeks (one semester) they had 12 assignments to complete plus a final test.
That was just one full 8-point subject !
Most gave up after the first semester.
Those that came out the other end (~40%) with a degree and their sanity certainly had my respect.

Wondering if we are debating the 'tall poppie' syndrome?

How relevant is education level? .. And do people actually factor that in when they are considering meeting someone on line?

How relevant ? It is relevant on differing degrees for different people.
Whats wrong with that?
This is not about how valuable people are based on their education - its about how relevant this is for us.
And we all factor in the other persons education, attitude, determination, goals etc.
Not many girls here who would go dating a homeless guy or a 45 year old artist that lives off the women he dates and never held a job in his life.
Both of those could be very 'smart' people, but 'smart' just doesnt cut it any more when you feel mismatched, right?

It is fashionable in our society for the modern women to 'trade down' slightly and get with the tradie with the tool belt, open shirt and muscular six pack and a smirk on his face when he flirts with you, your collegues and your daughter.

So get down of your low horse and respect the fact that if a bunch of lesser educated people are 'smart' a bunch of more educated people is probably smarter - everything being equal.

We have a right to know what people look like before we are supposed to show interrest, so why shouldnt we know what survival strategy through life someone has chosen before i have an poinion?

Yeah yeah yeah -
girls with highschool are just as cute and valuable as girls with a degree and sometime - would you believe it - are smart and even smarterer.
They generally dont chat back and do as they are told, which are rare and sought after qualities in a woman these days.

In defence of the stuck up educated girls : There is a certain amount of satisfaction in meeting a longlegged well spoken woman with a PhD in molecular biology that holds a degree in physics and mechanical engineering and understands the construction of nano-tubes and is able to install her own car stereo . . . before bending her over the kitchen table and giving her a good hard rogering.
LC would surely know about that.

To put it another way: there is girls that try to share straight after your first quickie what irrelevant drama happened in Big Brother last night - and others that keep you and your mind stimulated for weeks, months and years to cum . . . come.

Intellect and Lust - what a combination !

Should the drinking age be raised to 21 in Australia?
Posted: 5/27/2008 5:01:23 AM
I have to agree with WG.
Its not an age problem - its a cultural problem.
I grew up in Europe where a 12 year old can have some wine when eating out in public with parents.
Beer, wine and spirits where and still are available in supermarkets and i have never been drunk in all my life.
We learned to respect alcohol.
I Australia young kids seem to think that getting plastered every chance they get is cool.
Following in somebodies footsteps ?

Many people dont measure up to my level of fitness, bodyshape etc.
Many more do and surpass me.
Those that dont measure up, i guess i can judge on their short-commings.
And i guess i often do . . . even though i know i shouldnt.

If somebody has a condition however, lets say . . . Down's Syndrome or such, any physical imperfection is more like to be a result of that disability than the result of lazyness or sloth.
I wouldnt judge that person and i am sure nobody in this forum would.
Because WE ARE ALL very understanding and tolerant when it comes down (oops) to it.

Natasha Stott Despoja and 'sexy' shouldnt be used in the same sentence i believe.
She reminds me of a womens lib . . . dont really know why.
Maybe because she hasnt learned to use the best weapons women have to her advantage ?

However 'sexy' and 'competent' are two very different qualities.
The only thing i look for really is competence in a person holding a position as important as that.
I love competent women in politics.

Should We Put Our Best Foot Forward??
Posted: 5/23/2008 10:37:55 PM
I agree fully with Faux Pa.

Also OP, you are proud of your boobs. Thats obvious from your pics and from your post.
Many girls here do the steep-angle-look-at-my-tits shots on their pictures.
And there is nothing wrong with it.
They have boobs they are proud of and they are looking for guys who appreciate that obviously.
Only putting their best foot forward and there is nothing wrong with it as long as its not missleading i.e dont get upset if guys that contact you will talk about your boobs.
That would be putting the wrong foot forward.

Or: Dont advertise if you havent got anything to sell.

OP, i too have migrated to Australia 21 years ago from Europe.

I a nutshell:

If you are migrating out of a sense of adventure, craving a new and different culture, if you are open minded and tolerant and dont take yourself and your past too serious and if you are looking to build a new future you will love this country and embrace it and this country and its people will embrace you.
You might have to work on your english though . . .

If you are looking for a solution to your problems (personal or work or family), are unhappy with what you have, are trying to escape emotional pain or people , or are feeling you have always been hard done by - and life owes you something . . . chances are your troubles will follow you to Australia.

Just something i have observed over the years.

In the meantime dear 'S' . . . WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA

Julia Gillard would have to be the 2nd Sexiest Woman in Australia,
straight after Julie Bishop.

Bishop would be the sort of girl you meet up with in a motel on a business trip.
She would wear a red corsett with suspenders, black stockings and high heeled black f*ck-me-boots. She would be totally waxed and rather kinky.
Now i like that in a woman - she holds my respect!

Gillard is more the horny redhead type that gives you a quickie in a public toilet during a lunch break.
Not a full lunch really . . . more like a juicy little snack in-between.

But what would i know . . .

philosophical question
Posted: 5/21/2008 9:21:54 PM
if a tree falls in the forrest, lands on your boss and kills him/her, but nobody sees it happen.....are they really dead?

Are they really dead?
- the tree: it fell so its most likely dead or about to die.
- the forrest: one tree doesnt make a forest, so the forest is most likely fine.
- the boss: him/her just got killed by a 'landing' tree, stupid.
- the nobodies:
a) just because there are no bodies doesnt mean nobody did not get killed.
b) if some nobody saw it happen that somebody got killed it most likely wasnt nobody because he was watching somebody getting killed.
c) just because nobody saw somebody getting killed doesnt mean he hasnt passed away since.

Which means the tree is dying, while the boss is already dead and the forrest along with nobody who was watching is most likely still alive.

Does that help? :grinch:

How fast can you fall in love?
Posted: 5/20/2008 11:15:01 PM
Phuck you are dangerous !
Here we have a five-foot-somethin blonde that never picks a fight, looks innocent like chocolate nuts wouldnt melt in her mouth and can pacify hardened criminals and stubborn taureans by deflecting their attention to 'that' romantic bone they had hidden in their trousers all those years.
You are good BioNic.
And you are a people collector.

Based on hlv's statistical data you only have a 7% window to apply concentrated flirtation because the other '55% body language' and '38% voice' you havent even tapped into yet.
Judging by what i have read (7%) you are quite capable of creating a bionic vortex that can devour just about any guy - complete with nuts and 'romantic bone' and all.

Are we in love yet Kobalt?

You certainly know how to corner a guy.
Based on my past i wouldnt know 'Love' if it fell on me.
I have spent the last five years of my life soul searching and increasing my level of self awareness - and i found that there is things i do better than anybody else.
But Love isnt one of them.

BioNic at which point in this conversation have i volunteered my nuts?
Or is that another matrimoNic strategy?

Either way, i have a question for you:
If you would get your hands on chocolate covered nuts, would you
a) bite into them and chew them up whole, or
b) lick the chocolate off first and then enjoy the nuts on their own
c) lick the chocolate off and pass the nuts repackaged on to your elderly neighbor for her birthday?

This question might sound trivial to you, but let me assure you that your response will have a definate bearing on our future relationship.

To the OP's question i tend to agree with the general concensus that as we age we seem to be more in control of our emotions.
I suspect that we are manipulating our feelings all our lives, but never face up to it.
As bewitched said we have hopes and dreams and we tend to forge the people we meet into our dreams. We create our own little reality and as long as we can maintain that we are in love.

The sad thing is that we can fall out of love as quick as we can fall in love.
Maybe because something shattered our dream, our illusion or we replaced our old dream with a new one . . . and the person we loved has no role in that new dream?

Hey, i havent got a single romantic bone in my body. so what would i know?

Interesting analogy
Posted: 5/20/2008 5:26:30 AM

. . . It has been suggested I get a female chainsaw, that comes in nice colours, gets the job done and can even do two jobs at once! Problem is, they are very picky about their fuel and no man has ever worked out how to start them properly and keep them purring along!

I can understand your frustration, however consider this:

1 All female chainsaws will purr along without any complaints when you are testing them in the shop until you commit and purchase them and take them home.
2 Female chainsaws dont like it when you pull their chain. Males dont mind being pulled on a regular base.
3 Female chainsaws have a softer core which makes them become very blunt after only short use.
4 Female chainsaws tend to spring a leak every 28 days. Who needs that sort of slippery mess in the shed.
5 Female chainsaws do come in nicer colours but once they get knocked about a bit, they age very quickly.
6 Female chainsaws have troubles tracking - you tend to spend more time fighting with your chainsaw than getting the job done.
7 While Female chainsaws are designed to cut wood they seem very effortlessly being able to cut you down just above your knees.
8 Female chainsaws require a lot more accessories to achive a satisfactory outcome - some of them go through batteries like you wouldnt believe!
9 Female chainsaws tend to need a lot more lube and servicing as they get worn.
10 If you drop Female chainsaws the wrong way they have been known to cut you out of house and home. Same thing can happen if you replace them with a newer model.

four wheel drive's rock n the suburbs
Posted: 5/20/2008 4:20:50 AM
I owned a 4WD, took it offroad and to fraser often and really enjoyed it.
But most of my driving is city and freeway driving so i drive now a fast 2door sports car.
As far as security is concerned:
In a smaller fender bender between two vehicles chances are that the larger and more solid built vehicle will have the least amount of damage. That does not mean it has the smaller repair bill.
In a high speed head-on collision between a large 4wd and a medium to small sedan the heavier car will experience the smaller amount of negative acceleration (braking impact) while at the same time due to its higher centre of mass probably sliding over the sedan and getting airborne.
The people in the sedan dont have much of a chance.

While that scenario is about as popular as being eaten by a shark it is similarly as unlikely. It is not the scenario for most fatal car accidents.
The reason for fatalities is less often caused by other vehicles and more often by drivers running into static and solid objects like trees, concrete walls, powerpoles and such.

Facing that sort of merciless impact, 4wd have lost all their advantages and are less safe than well engineered road cars with safety cages.
Their increased mass becomes their disadvantage.
A higher centre of mass and being badly balanced (front/aft) when cornering fast makes them a lot more likely to run off the road and hit a tree for no good reason.

Having said that, i wouldnt mind owning a twin turbo Cayenne that outruns a 911 turbo!
And no, i wouldnt feel guilty about anything because all the issues discussed here so far are just percieved problems.
Everybody here will place their own safety and enjoyment above other peoples safety and enjoyment and we all will drive what we can afford for as long as we can afford it.

18 year old girl marries a 40 year old man?
Posted: 5/12/2008 11:26:16 PM
Nice scenario, OP.

I remember when i was 20-25 wondering about couples where he was a lot older than her.
He would have to be an old pervert and she stupid, desperate or just ugly i thought.
As i am a 45 yo male now, never married, no kids i tend to see things differently - funny that.

1 Young girls versus older women is one trade off to be consideret.

2 Matching of large age differences is another thing to consider.
Having had my fair share of relationships with younger and older women than me throughout my life i believe to know the difference.

3 The scenario in the opening post is somewhat frowned upon in our western society, lets face it.
At the same time the same society (ours) has a success rate of relationships that is worse in comparison than other cultures that practice child marriages and arranged marriages.
So how much credibility is there in society's veto ? - not much i would say.

4 Questioning the maturitity, motives and wisdom of a younger girl marrying an older man, or

5 Questioning the maturitity, motives and wisdom of an older man marrying a younger girl is really no different of questioning anybodys maturitity, motives and wisdom marrying anybody else if we respectfully regard all reasons to be equal.

So, if a 18yo girl that takes my fancy would see anything in me, would it inflate my ego ? - you bet it would!
Would i hesitate being platonic friends with her in public ? - no i wouldnt, but i would be careful.
Would i resist the relationship growing into more than just platonic ? maybe a little.
Would i feel guilty ? - maybe a little.
Would i anticipate judgement and rejection from many ? yes, definately.
Would i have to make a difficult decision ? yes, definately.
Do i know what decision i would make ? No, i dont.

Whatever the decision was, i would have to sacrifice either the girl i love and want to have around , or loosing my status with family, friends and society as a whole who would never understand the difficult decision i had to make.

In the end its always easier to judge others from a distance, because our opinion comes cheap - when the tables are turned and we are about to loose something we want . . . we often change our mind . . . and if we try hard enough, even manage to justify our decision along the way.

At the ripe age of 98, when i am lying on my death bed - looking at my young and beautiful wife of 71 (yes 98-45=53 & 18+53=71) i will be glad to have followed my heart - because the life i had was mine to live.

Love Letters
Posted: 5/12/2008 1:01:11 PM
I was told i havent got a single romantic bone in my body.
Which was about right, because whe she told me that, i wasnt in love with her.
And that is the magic ingredient here: Being smitten, being in love.
Love letters only flow then.
Any other time they are just about impossible to 'create' i find.
Like Pookie said though, while love letters are nice they seem to be as permanent as our relationships.
Maybe us single people should develop an alternative - something like 'platonic friendship letters' ?
Hilly, 'platonic love' is a non-sexual affectionate relationship.
(she hates it when she doesnt know what we are talking about . . . )

Quick come back lines!

rainbowskin,
no of course i dont expect us all to agree - where would the fun go?
Just didnt expect a split between the camps so sharp along the male/female line if you look through the posts.
That really made me think - why would that be?

You see, the mohawk is a sign of the punk subculture, and the
". . . Punks seek to outrage propriety with the highly theatrical use of clothing, hairstyles, cosmetics, tattoos, jewelry and body modification . . . " to quote from wiki.
So if i run around dressed as a forest fairy, i would like people to think i pitched my tent in the 'other' camp . . .
If i wear a swastika on my jacket its because i want people to know i am a neo-nazi.
If i dress as a punk, i want people to know i share the punk mentality and ideology.
There is also a chance i am stupid and dont know what any of those mean, but wear them anyway because the blond chicks really dig it.

So if i seek to outrage society, looking as tough as an upside down steel brush, roaming the streets in packs and barking insults at old people that stare at me, why would i get emotionally jammed up because two old farts had a come back line ?

No, thats right, nobody ever had an issue with the hairstyle, its not a question about fashion or personal expression, who cares - its about the wrong attitude, provoking a reaction and when you get one, not be able to deal with it.

So you admit your campy Kobolt... thought there was something fishy about you.
Sorry sweetheart, didnt get around hitting on you yet . . . wait your turn!wink:

Actually, snappy lil vegemite, i am not gay, - i am hydrophobic . . . and mostly if people complain about the fishy smell its because i left my fly open . . . darn!

"Your f*cking hair looks like a broom" to which I quickly replied " And your face looks like an arsehole so f*ck off shit for brains" I will now add it is now purple, dark purple . . .

You was talking about your hair colour i take it?

I would have said exactly the same thing as "the mohawk" actually I do so on a semi regular basis to people who are rude or ignorant enough to stare/point/snicker at myself or anybody else who chooses to look somehow different from what society considers "normal". Who's to say what's "normal" or acceptable and why should I care what you or your mate thinks, particularly if he would be so narrow minded to assume that because somebody looks different from you they are an idiot? Live and let live

I dont think any body assumed that "the mohawk" was an idiot initially - they just wondered in amazement how "the mohawk" was getting into a car, sleeping on a pillow, wearing a helmet on his push bike, getting panicked on a really windy day and what job he was holding down. You know, just your average mohawk wearing i-dont-conform-issues the average mohawk wearing individual is very proud to display.

The 'idiot concept' only came up when he the mohawk barked at him. "What th f*ck are ya lookin at?"

Well, what do ya think?
But you should know that as a girl - dont pick a fight unless you are happy to get your hair messed up.

Life the universe and every thing ?
Posted: 5/9/2008 5:27:31 PM
Even Monty Python had a go at that answer.

Instinctively i would look for the answer in the realms of philosophy - because unlike most other intellectual disciplines it does no restrict itself from the very beginning, eliminating too many answers early in the quest, and among them most likely the correct one.

People, including the educated ones - or shall i say especially the educated ones - collect a finite amount of data, process it into knowledge and voila develop a theory or belief to explain the Meaning of Life and the Fabric of the Universe.
Regardless how educated or knowledgeable they are - the result is more a product of their time epoche and level of technology than their absolut insight.

This approach might be to theoretical because unlike the three dimensional solutions suggested by creationists, atheists and agnostics that offer simple mechanisms like creation and evolution - my suspicion is that the answer is bigger than that.
Bigger AND simpler - because like often, the real solution to a given problem is often surprisingly simple . . . and thats the beautty of this universe we live in.

Unlike most educated people i assume that do not know everything, but that there is duplicate copies of each 'solution' aaround us, i.e. once you have an understanding of molecular physics, the concept of macro cosmos along with energy, mass and time becomes easier to grasp.
Our human tendency to assume that all solutions and mechanisms of the universe are linear is - i believe - our biggest flaw.
To me there is no evidence of linearity in any of the sciences . . . everything in physics and mathematics observed in our universe is rarely linear. Most things are cyclic from electrons, the carbon cycle, cycle of life ... all the way up to planets, solar systems and galaxies.
Yet we are still busy arguing about 'Creation' or 'The Big Bang'.
We are looking for a beginning and and end in everything.
And while we are fixated that there must be a beginning, we totally ignore what nature is telling us.
We observe time as linear - what if it isnt, just to throw some Einstein in here?

If we look at the general message and prefered solutions nature uses in all things we can observe and comprehend, we should be able to project those solutions to construct an answer that is still outside the realm of our understanding.

A little story:
In a two-dimensional flat world where rectangles and triangles lived, squares where the most advanced and wise rectangles of all.
Above the rectangles and even squares were the triangles - outranking them in simplicity, efficiency, knowledge and wisdom.
The supreme triangle was the Equilateral Triangle that was above all other two-dimensional bodys.
One day a dot appeared from nowhere in this two-dimensional world.
The question arose what that dot was and where it came from - but nobody, not even the mighty Equilateral Triangle knew the answer.
To everybodies amazement this dot grew into a small circle and proceeded to grow until it stopped and started to reduce in diameter and circumference.
It became a dot that to everybodys amazement disappeared the same way it appeared, leaving no trace.

The rectangles - somewhat simple - believed that circles must be gods that ruled over all rectangles and triangles, based on the fact that a circle is so much more sophisticated than even a Equilateral Triangle.
The triangles believed that if they waited long enough they would turn into circles themselves and based on their knowledge of two-dimensional worlds this was the only scientificly possible explanation.

In Thruth, a sphere fell through the two-dimensional world and wasent even aware of the drama it caused.

Have you been perving on me in my spandex catsuit again? . . .

No, not yet - but according to pictures taken with a tele-photo lens you have a very tight little arse.
I like that in a woman.
It reminds me of siberian garlic, only a handful but nice and firm.
And you cant get rid of the smell for days.
The only thing that still baffles me . . . in a tight little catsuit . . . where would you hide that cherry?

Drinkorexics?

Probably not qualified to comment . . .

I grew up in a society where binge drinking wasnt part of the culture.
At the same time an underage child (say 14) was able to drink half a glass of wine with its meal in public if accompanied by adults.
Beer, wine and spirits were available in the supermarket.
I started regular social drinking when i was 28.
I drink socially when i go out now, but i have never been drunk.
Am a typical 'cheap drunk' and not associating any sort of heroics with increased alcohol consumption . . . yes i used to play soccer too.

The male contraceptive pill...what ever happened to it?
Posted: 5/4/2008 7:17:26 PM

You see, you do have a choice. Wear a condom and no child, don't wear a condom, accept the consequences! . . .

In the absence of contraception a males choice by law expires when he ejaculates.
In the absence of contraception a females choice by law expires three months after the male ejaculated.

This might be hard to understand, so let me me put it another way:

Males have two choices:
1 have or have not intercourse.
2 use or use not contraception.

Females have three choices:
1 have or have not intercourse.
2 use or use not contraception.
3 complete or terminate pregnancy (opt out of 'motherhood')

(Yes i know, its HER body - but its THEIR child !)
Before we assume that 'he' is a **stard - consider cases where he wants the child, but she doesnt.

Wouldnt it be only fair and just if men had three months to decide if they want to be a childs father?

In the meantime, any form of somewhat reliable contraception (including the male contraceptive pill) is welcome.

I wonder what the name of the bottom 10% club is....because that's the one I seem to be in all the time.

BaronOz70 the bottom 10% that you are sharing with me is reserved for the aged, handicapped, balding but loaded gents.
We - because we have not the luxury of being choosy have to attend an ever increasing number of 18-21 year old size 8 nymphomeniac girls that are looking for a father figure they can confide in and cuddle up to.
Because they had a rough youth and never learned the difference between fatherly love and unbridled sexual excess, they are regarded as damaged goods and are in need of our emotional support.
I am not sure what the name of the bottom 10% is - but i know we are providing a service to society, nobody else can provide.

Mating Tips For Cavemen and Cavewomen

If you were tree and me were squirrel me put nuts in your hole.

Coal Chamber's variation on 'hide the sausage' game is 'hide the nuts' - kinky but quite safe, unless you forgot where you put them.

Climbing a ladder with no knickers on guarantees instant popularity.

Naams is referring to the pubic entanglement in dense shrubbery while up on a ladder - and the associated exposure of 'hairy lipped mussels and 'split peaches' (to borrow from LC's vocab.)
BioNicAngel is going to be preoccupied with aphrodisic potions and such - until one of Naams rohypnolosaurus' pees in her cup and she gets a good clubbing afterwards.
I love the way your minds work - dirty rotten scoundrels.

By the way,
do women that are under 5 foot 2 inches qualify as Matriarchs?

I too believe in intimidation, but surely a petite sheila standing on a chair demanding respect is not the same?

Two people become parents, not just one. With all the talk of child raising that goes on in these forums, being that the father also must contribute to the raising of the child, both financially and spiritually, it no longer becomes an issue of who carries that said child.

True, but that wasnt my point.
My point was that only the woman has a choice to become a mother.
She can make up her mind for three months after intercourse - legally.
A man doesnt even get an hour to decide if he wants to father a child - she will make that decision for him.

I dont know what powers the gun-toting jewish tax accountant might have but there is limited recourse if the father goes over seas. They can write and threaten but they have no legal ability to dock their tax in the UK for example.

Most likely true, but that wasnt my point.
A single stay at home dad with four kids chasing their biological mother for contributions in the UK would have the same problem.

My point was, when it comes to motherhood,
women have a choice by law to opt out of motherhood
- men dont have a choice to opt out of fatherhood.

Bad luck you might say, but wouldnt that be a good reason for a guy to see 'commitment' as a one way street?
