explaining death to 4yr old

Hello everyone,
Again thanx for all the kind words and advice. Just thought i'd tell you about us puting balloons with notes atached in the sky. I had told ameilia we'd do it whenever she was ready. I actually though she'd forgotten about it so didn't say a thing.
But this morning she looked out the window and saw a beautiful sunrise. the sky was pink. she said "we should put the balloon in the sky now because it's beautiful" so we did. we wrote on the balloon, "this balloon is for you so you won't forget me and I won't forget all of you" "I love you"! she thinks the balloon will go to heaven to God and he will give it to them.
I was really moved by this and was crying Ameilia asked why i had tears? and said that it was ok to be sad. she was actually happy about the whole thing.
god bless all of yo for being gardian angels to me!

I have always been very honest with Ameilia, and not kept anything from her. Of course with our friend dieing we are waiting as he could die in another 2yrs and why put her through that now?
although she hasn't said this i do suspect that she is thinking that her daddy's dad died, that her daddy will leave her too. I havn't talked to her about it as I don't want to put thoughts into her head that she isn't thnking. she is a real tropper though and every day we talk about grandpa and the memories we have of him. another pof member suggested sending balloons up in the sky with notes attached. Ameilia is excited to do this. we are sending 3 for both her grandpa's and one for her uncle. thanx everyone for posting t has really helped me. I come here almost every day and read a few posts they comfort me. god bless you all!

thanx for the post Lady. It's true we can't make it gloom and doom. We told her grandpa is in a better place (Heaven) Happy and no more pain like he had.
My daughter thinks all people that die are behind the moon, go figure. she is so worried that if her daddy's dad died, her daddy will die soon. that is why i haven't told her our friend is going to die. eventually we will. but he could live 6nths or 2yrs only god know. we just wana give her time to get over grandpa before we tell her.
also my best friend of 32yrs her dad died 2mths ago and he was like a dad to me so i was ery upset ameilia knew this. It's just to soon to make her deal with another person rite now.

Hey all, was just looking at all my forums and came to this one. and i guess I'm thinking how hard life has been on my 5yr old. my father in law died last month. Ameilia her dad and i helped take care of him till the end. Ameilia has taking ths so hard. She wanted to put her cabbage patched doll in the coffin with him. I told her she couldn't because it would be burried with grandpa for ever. Now our best friend old us he has cancer. I don't plan on telling my little girl I will keep it from her as long as i can. It just breaks my heart to see all she has went through in 1 1/2 yrs. She is one tough cookie. anyhow thanx for listening once again.

Hmm...things that touch my heart. getting a massage with nothing else exspected. asking for a hug and not being asked why do you need that?
But what really touched my heart happened last friday. It was my father-in-laws funeral and they had a viewing of the body. My 5 yr old girl was very close to him and she wanted to put her cabbage patch doll amanda (she takes her everywhere with her)with grandpa in the coffin so he wouldn't be lonley. then she said when i die i want to be buried beside grandpa so i can be close to him and amanda.

THE WOMAN
Looking at the reflexion
I see a ghostly image
A meir portrait of a woman
Once an individual with excileration
Now a child intimidated by what lies before
I look in the mirror
Searching for a means for direction
Where did it comence?
Where's the conclusion?
In the shadows
A configuration of a woman
Of a reflexion of
A woman in a mirror

Thank-you for all your posts. Today was the funeral. Ameilia hasn't
said to much except that she didn't want to go to the funeral.
So i aranged a babysitter for her.
I do know she is very sadened by all that is going on. She seems
to have the need to give lots of extra hugs and "I love you's" which
is how she acted when her uncle died.
We spent fathers day with her grandpa as he isn't doing to good.
When I asked him how he was doing he replyed I'm here for today
anyways.
All in all kids seem to get through almost anything. Some kids do
better then us adults.
Blessing to all

Again we are going through anouther death. Our good friend
choked on some food at a bar and it seems no one there knew
what to do. So they called 911 and by time he got to the hospital
he was in a coma. they found out yesterday he as brain dead so the
family took off the ventilator yesterday.
Our daughter is very upset again and is scared that me and her dad are
going to leave her to.
Also my father inlaw just told us he has lung cancer and is dieing. He is
refusing an operation and kemo. I haven't told Ameilia this as I don't think
she will handle this news very well. I am thinking that after she has gotten
over our friends death that maybe we should tell her that grandpa is very sick
and is dieing. Or maybe we should just wait till he does die to tell her.
How can we expect a 4yr old to understand all these people dieing in such a short
time? I am heartbroken for me and for her.

Thanx everyone for the great advice. I know I will try alot
of the things mentioned here.
She has been as good as gold yesterday when I threatened
to take her birthday party away. She probualy has done alot
of thinking since then.
I am thinking she is trying to earn it back lol. And she just might
get her party depends on what happens between now and the
party.
Again thanx

Posted:

My daughter is almost 4yr's old. I am getting to the end
of my rope. She won't listen to me no matter what I say or do.
She has a very bad additude like her dad.
She gets into things she gets into everything eg: today she has
spilled the sugar on the table spilled my conditioner on her her rug.
I take things away from her when this happens but it doen't seem to fiz.
eg: No tv for the day. No playing with her friend.
Her birthday is in a few days and I told her she will not be getting a party
if she doesn't start behaving better. I pretended to cancel the cake at
the bakery. she was very upset after I did this and thats when she spilled
the sugar!!!
any advice would be appreciated!!!

Lmao @ Hammer! Well I crumpled for the first week and used 2 rolls
of tp. The second week I folded and only used 1 1/4 rolls of tp.
So I have just proved that folding is the way to go. You use less tp
there for save $$$!
As I was folding I was very aware of how much tp I used. Thinking if
I had enough or maybe I had to much.
I still love to crumple but...either way I have now converted into a
folder lol. Maybe while visiting other people I could get a few crumples
in . But at home I will now be a folder.
How did you do nosoup?
p.s. Road Hammer, You can come to visit me,
I am nolonger hiding my tp!!!

^^^^^^boy can I relate to that! Hubby came home awhile
ago and gave my girl a gift to give to me. She was so upset
she wouldn't give it to me. And although it's a nice gift she did
not pick it out. So now he just left to take her to buy me a gift.
It's kinda funny cause now he's spending more than he had planned
because he had to buy 2 gifts lol.

Well it's mother's day and hubby has let us down yet again!
Our daughter has been waiting almost a week to go shopping
with him for a B'day and mom's day gift for me.
It's not about the gift it's about doing something special for
her mom. Me and my girl are going to spend some time with
my mom and sister for the special day. And yet again it's me
making the planning for the day.

Looking, I see we both married the same kind of man lol.
No I don't need an expensive gift or any present at all for
mom's day. But at least he could cook a meal for me or do
something special for me on this special day.
Three yr's ago I celebrated my 1st mom's day and my 40th
b'day on the same day. I asked hubby to do something little
for me as it was extra special being my b'day and all. He chose
to spend most of the day with a friend instead of with me and
his daughter.
Anyways Happy Mothers Day to you all

Nope my girl is almost 4yr's old and I do have a man around
the house. (her dad) But he has never gotten me anything
for mom's day.
Rite now I'm really pissed off at him. I had a b'day yesterday
and he told our daughter they would go get me a little gift.
He didn't but what really makes me made is he got his best
friend a card and small gift.
So now in 3weeks he has a b'day then fathers day and you
can bet that I will make sure he get's.....nothing. Now he'll
know how it feels!!!

Naw I'm not counting squares. I will see how much is left of my
roll of tp at the end of the week. (if there is even some left) may
be I will need to start a new roll.
I plan to keep any leftover tp left on the roll and after the second
seek I will kno exactly how much more I used cruming or folding. I
plan to fold my tp all next week.
nosoup is folding this week and we can compare who used more at

darstude I can totaly relate to what you've said. When he cares to remember
special occasions and birthdays which he does. He just choses to ignore them.
Like one xmas i handed him a xmas card and he said wait I have one for you to.
He went and got an old one and cut the inside where the writing was and wrote
to:***** from:****I just laughed. One card he bought a week after my b'day
and it was from him and our girl. It said from the both of us very casual I think it
was ment for acoworker or something lol.
Today he read his horiscope and it said something along the line of chocolate
and candies aren't a good thing to be giving. I just laughed as next week is
my b'day and we shall see if he even remembers it. (I'll let you know).
He does have some good qualities he is back farming and I am staying home
with our daughter for now. but there also is some controlling issues to but I
have been working on changing me and figuring out how I got to be the person
i am today & the bad doesn't all come from being with him. they stem way back
to my childhood to. I'm not putting all our problems on his shoulders that wouldn't
be far. It takes two to make any relationship work and I guess through out the years
I slowly gave up because I was tired of being the strong one tired of taking care of
everyone else and not taking care of me!!!
He knows whats going on with me and sometimes he acts like he really cares and wants
to change and help me. Other times it's like I'm just around to take care of him as
I honestly he can't survive alone.

Hey sally, I remember the snow cones, bll balls, and wacky cards.

Hey spilly my parents had one of those corner stores when
I was a kid. I remember going behind the counter and taking
penny candy when nobody was looking. hehe,,,those where
the dayz!!!
I would help stock the shelves to and my dad would pay me 50cents.
I thought i was rich.

I have a friend that I've known for 31yr's. Not sure what has
kept us together but we are still as close as the day we met
when we were 12.
