Healthiest Oil to use for Cooking?
Posted: 5/9/2009 6:05:46 AM
FYI.........
I avoid Canola these days it strips the finish off of the non-stick surface of many varieties of cookware. Take a look at the instructions that accompany the more expensive no stick pots and pans....

Just clean it and soak it overnight in milk... cutting it into rings is very popular but in Spain and portugal they cook it in large sections on the grill with olive oil and lots of chopped garlic!

Thank all of you for the websites! I use food network all the time but I can see that there are several of the ones you have recommended that are as good. I particularly liked allrecipies and RecipeZaar. Thanks again ... Good Cooking!

I need help with vegetable recipes
Posted: 7/29/2008 7:08:38 AM
Just for all you who have contributed I just found a great recipe for roasted root vegetables. Not only is it healthy but it's incrediblly calorie friendly. Here it is:

1/2 lb brussle sprouts halved
1 med turnip
1/2 lb carrotts
1 sweet potato or yam
1 large red onion
1T oregono
1T basil
1tsp tyme
1 tsp rosemary
Salt & Pepper to taste (I used it after I mixed the ingerdiants)
2 T oilve oil
I cut the vegetables into chunks tossed then in the oil added the spices salted, peppered and roasted at 400 for 40 min ....

and you will be delighted at the result. It is not your average fair adds a touch of class and tastes better than you can imagine.

One of my favs is ... 3 cups broccoli in a frying pan w/ toasted sesame oil and garlic, a 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes. Saute till aldante then pour into a bowl and add 2 oz of goat cheese and 1/4 cup of dried cranberry's. Believe it or not this is great! A real depth of flavor and it is calorie friendly!

Great BBQ Ribs Recipe
Posted: 7/20/2008 7:06:14 AM
I have made ribs for many years. I suffered the BBQ method until I got the message. Here is a fool proof way to make ribs, either spare ribs or baby backs.

I like to marinate my ribs over night in what ever sauce I choose. Look up BBQ rib sauce or a dry rub which ever your going to use ... Honestly ... they are all good.

Next day take 1 cookie sheet, I use the non stick variety, lay 1 slab if using spare ribs 2 if baby backs, coat again with your sauce or dry rub and cover tightly with tin foil. Bake at 325 for 4 hours.

Open then after about 2 hours and baste both sides, you will need 2 sets of tongs for this, and return to the oven.

At 3 hours I uncover and baste again. This will produce a beautiful glazed quality and a fall off the bone rib. You will no when to remove. They will be beautiful!

I was at a 4th of July party last night and over heard 2 women talking about the incredibly high rate of impotence among men over 45! Is this true? They claimed 75% had sever trouble and half were goners. This is news to me. I know there are products like Viagra out there but is the problem as sever as they claimed?

Great Low calorie recipies
Posted: 10/15/2007 1:34:23 PM
I have a number of great low calorie recipes. I'd love to share a few or trade. I have made a study of creating salads that contain 450 calories or less and I am looking for other dishes to incorporate into my routine. Below is a recipe for a basic salad that really is quite satisfying and calorie friendly"

1 head of romaine or red leaf lettuce
1 red bell pepper (interchangeable with green, orange, Anaheim Chilies or Hungarian Chilies)
1 yellow bell pepper
1/2 cucumber
1.5 oz Fetta Cheese
1/4 cup dried cranberries
2 tomatoes seeded and diced
1/4 cup Jickima
3 TBSP Trader Joes Sweet Seseme dressing (40 calories for 2 TBSP)
1 oz Candies Walnuts (to make walnuts ... cut nuts into quarters, wash toss in 1 cup of Splenda, 1 tsp of allspice, 1 tsp cinnamon , 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper)

Toss and enjoy.....
about 450 calories if you can eat the entire salad!

Great Fajita Recipe
Posted: 1/28/2006 7:37:52 AM
I make fajitas everyday.... why? Cause they are filling, healthy and very low in calories. I use the following recipe:

1 Red Bell Pepper sliced into spears
1 Green Bell Pepper sliced into spears
6 mushrooms
1 Large onion sliced
5 Cloves of garlic
1 table spoon oil
1/4 teaspoon Red Pepper flakes
1 white chicken breast sliced into strips or 10 shrimp (med to large) or a filet of soul or tapila
4 corn tortillas
Salsa

Cut the vegies and half the garlic... half the oil and start the garlic in the heated oil... as soon as the garlic becomes aromatic add the onions, peppers and mushrooms... saute till the onions clarify or start to brown.

Remove the veggies and start the second part of the oil saute with the remaining garlic and the red pepper. Add the chicken or which ever meat you prefer and in just a minute your ready to serve. Heat the tortillas in a frying pan with NO oil till they just begin to brown and your set.

The tortillas have about 50 calories each, the chicken breast is about 150 calories the oil about 100 and the vegetables negligable..... your full and happy for about 400 to 425 calories.

Bachelor food

Here is a favorite of mine..... it's tasty and low calorie so it fills the bill in several catagories. This is a chicken fajita recipe. I premake chicken breasts from a giant package I get at costco or Sam's. I prepare these either in the oven or BBQ and then freeze them to use as neccessary. This is nice so that if I am eating alone I remove 1 frozen and if I have guests I take more and adjust the other ingrediants as required.

Take a non-stick frying pan... saute a small amount of olive oil, a couple cloves of garlic, a pinch of red pepper. Add a sliced onion, julianes bell peppers, red, green, yellow or orange... the choices are yours and a few sliced mushrooms...... remove after the onions beging to brown.

I use the same skillet to heat corn tortillas till brown patches appear and they begin to firm up. I slice the heated chicken and VIOLA... a great dinner for about 450 calories, very filling and as healthy as you can get!

I like it hot so I often add Jalapenos, Anaheim Chilies or Pasilla Peppers. I use Chalula or the new garlic Tabasco as a sauce but you can use traditional salsa if your a light weight...

Enjoy

EROTIC POETRY
Posted: 1/16/2006 5:01:19 PM
She holds me in her heart and I live warm there
She teases me with her lovely hair

I touch her body and feel it stir
she moves to me and I embrace her

The heat is fierce the passion strong
Her skin ablaze her faucet turned on

My touch is welcome my lips desired
To taste her excitement and lighting my fire

The end in sight we move as one
To explode together is so much fun

While I didn't consider the potential liability for the perpitrator, I was aware that this was being done. I think it is MUCH more common that might be suspected.

Posted: 8/23/2005 4:40:28 PM
I was married for many years and had never been in love. But love found me and then left. Now I don't think I can live without it! that is exactly what I am looking for now. What an illusive commodity..............
