Sara,

Wish I could join you and others... Have a commitment for Saturday/Sunday - grand son's birthday!

Would like to meet for coffee... but your settings exclude my ability to email you!

Has anyone been brave enough to meet someone with no pic at all?

Got on this site soon after my wife's passing, at the urging of my stepdaughters... Believed everyone to be honest, as I am.

Without pictures, "Average" meant 100 lbs overweight - with one exception out of maybe 50 I agreed to meet.

With pictures, there were a few that were at least 20 years old (the pics - I do a lot of photography and one can tell). If THEY wanted to meet, THEY had to come close to my place... their wasted time, not mine!

Would meet ANYONE within 100mi/160 kms IF she appeared to have her head screwed on right!

how can you tell

I used to think that I could tell in 10 minutes... I fact, not that long ago, I was so sure that I had met the one for me that I called my closest female buddy to tell her... we planned gettin together again for the August long weekend and she called my house at lunch, knowing I was helping my buddy's b/f build a platform... she had the number but preferred to leave me a voicemail to tell me she wasn't coming, something had happened in her life that had changed her plans... took weeks before I heard the real story...

My advice to you is that while you are looking for the long term, you need to date a few time to get to know each other... not necessarily need to sleep with the guy... do things that are fun... a picnic if it's still warm enough, a walk along a river, a drive to nowhere... whatever you can agree on that's fun. Listen to what he has to say about people.

As sad as it may sound, relationships are a bit of a competition... the difference is you're competing with all the baggage your potential partner may have acquired...

Lastly the love of my life died 18 months ago... took me nearly two years to realize that she was the one for me... she gave me 13 years of the best years of my life even though the last two she was in horrible pain with her cancer... she died on the anniversary of our first date...

Good luck! I hope this helps you!

OTTAWA PARTY LONESTAR(EAST) APRIL 21 2006

As a resident of Ottawa for 53 years before moving to Ottawa, I am aware of a few places that could accomodate the type of crowd that's attending and more... problem is hotels close to the venue...

Two that are awsomw places are the Tudor Inn (near the airport) and St Elijah's Orthodox Church... we would have to supply the entertainment though!

Looking forward to meeting you all, even if I'm not a "country musiuc fan"!

The man from Tweed Ontario, mid-way between Ottawa and Toronto
