Anyone Fancy a Meet in the South West??

I'd be up for it. Bristol or Bath would be better than Weston from my point of view, just because they're more accessible by public transport, and for the same reason a daytime meet would probably be better than one in the evening for people traveling from other towns.

Go into a word processor with 12pt times new roman with 1 inch margins, paste your profile into it(which happens to be just about 2 pages long when I checked), and trim that down to about 1/2-1 page long.
Edit: I should have specified this earlier, but when you copy it into a document, I was referring to US letter-size (8.5"x11"). Sorry, forgot you were overseas and you use different sizes of paper.
That turns out to be very close to A4 (the default printing size in the UK), so that's the page size I've used. I've cut out quite a bit, particularly lists of bands, authors, comedians etc, and the politics section is gone completely, seeing as there are probably enough hints elsewhere to give people an idea of where I stand.
I've left in the section headings for now. I suppose I'm doing this because on other dating sites I've looked at, and also most social networking sites, instead of one great big "about me" box, there are usually a number of smaller boxes for hobbies, music, who I'd like to meet, etc, and I'm trying to reflect that sort of structure rather than having an amorphous block of text. Is that the wrong approach to take?
If I were to take out the section headings, then the profile would now be just under 1 page long instead of 2 pages, so hopefully it doesn't count as too long any more.
Further comments and feedback most welcome...

Thanks Palo1, quite a bit to think about there.
And thanks for the pointer on adding captions to my pictures - I didn't realise I could do that!

Perchance its just me and my american ways, but I'm really hitting my head against the wall in relation to your picture. What are you wearing, exactly? Yes, I know it's paint (at least that is what I think it is), but for what purpose? If you had kids, I could probably put two and two together, but I'm just having a hard time getting around that.
True, I haven't explained that. I'm wearing dayglo face paints, which don't look anywhere near as good without the UV lights. I took that pic after returning home from one of my rare nights out clubbing, because the pics I took with my camera phone while I was there all turned out rubbish. Maybe I should explain that in the profile? But then if I change my profile picture and forget to change the explanation in my profile...?
Also, I have to agree that your profile is a bit too long. I usually try to keep mine no more than 1 screen full, so there is enough there, but enough that is not for those who are interested in you. That way women are tempted to message you more, rather than "Okay... he sounds interesting so far... oh, he likes/doesn't like this, next person."
Being pedantic for a minute, define screen. Are we talking a laptop screen, or a big desktop monitor like I've got?
But seriously, I take your point about saying just enough to capture their interest and make them want to message me to find out more. Do you think that women might be put off by the fact that I say I like or don't like a particular band / author / comedian / political viewpoint / whatever? What is enough to get them interested, and what is too much? Specific examples from my current profile would be helpful.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look and post your feedback.

I think your profile is too long. I would take out all that explanation of your job.
You need to make it shorter, one way or another. Did you read the profile writing tips?
They are very helpful.
Thanks. I've trimmed down the bit about my job, although I wanted to convey the impression that I'm gainfully employed and solvent. Maybe there's a better way to do that?
What else would you cut out or reduce to make it shorter? I know sometimes I'm terrible for writing over-long sentences, although I think I've managed to avoid that here. Sometimes I go into too much detail as well, because I don't want to leave anything important out. It's difficult to find the right balance.
I did read the profile writing tips several times before I signed up, but applying them is a completely different matter.

Hi everyone. I'm new to POF and have spent a few days editing and polishing my profile. Now I think the time has come to ask more experienced fisher folk than myself whether it's up to scratch, or how it can be improved, before I attempt to go
Please, be gentle, but honest
Carrot.

Can you re-take the Personality test?
Posted:

And when the test produces results that are patently WRONG?
This is what I found on taking the chemistry test. One of the things it says about me is
If you have children already, you enjoy spending time with them very much and work hard to be a good parent. If you don’t have children, you very much desire having children in the future.
Except I don't have children, and I'm absolutely sure that I don't want any. This is too critical a thing to get wrong.
OK, so I can hide the results of the chemistry test so that only I can see them, although that seems a shame. And I could delete my profile and start over seeing as I've only just created it and haven't actually made contact with anyone yet, although that's rather a hassle.
I appreciate the point about not wanting people to take tests over and over again until they get the "right" result, but that's not what I want to do. I'm not interested in trying to produce results that look good but aren't an accurate representation of me, I'm more concerned with correcting something which isn't an accurate representation of me.
