Ridiculous question.

I can't believe anyone would even engage in this nonsense.

what women want...

I wouldn't want to hear it, I like how mysterious women are and I like learning at my own pace.

phwoarr!

No matter what time of year it is, I have women wanting to feel my facial hair.

I sometimes ask if I can feel their facial hair, which 9 times out of 10 makes them laugh.

Would you say something or pretend you know nothing?
Posted: 4/27/2010 3:18:51 PM
That seems a very tough situation.

Would there be any consequences or comeback that you can think of by bringing it up? If it would make the situation worse then I'd bite my lip for now.

It all depends on what the outcome would be as people are just mad!

Iraq war was immorale?
Posted: 4/27/2010 2:20:58 PM
I can't go along with people who are happy for the US/UK to appropriate anything and everything they want around the world.

No matter how much you try to batter other people's view on this, the war was illegal and wrong.

The angels who are protecting the people of the middle east (and by that I mean indiscriminate murder) have done very little to oust President Mugabe in Zimbabwe or many of the other twisted leaders of many 3rd world countries. Why is that? Because there is nothing in it for them.

Pro war = pro idiocy.

I have had enough of reading this utter tripe, so I'm out.

Good luck, thug fans.

what makes a great forum contributor
Posted: 4/27/2010 2:14:36 PM
2 posts in the last 10 is such a restrictive rule. If the place is designed to self moderate so well then there is no need to limit people's posting so much.

It's a shame as there appears to be some decent people here.

Shortest distance on POF
Posted: 4/27/2010 6:59:38 AM
I remember sometime ago, a POF member's auntie came up to me in a bar as she recognised me from here.

I ended up having a right old laugh with her and her friend.

If this forum didn't have so many posting rules then you would all be in awe of my full glory.

As it is, I like to watch other people and since I only started posting yesterday I shall reserve judgement on what makes a great contributor on this particular forum.

I was doing a gig in town recently when a lady asked me "where do I know you from?".

I had no idea where from, then the next day I logged in and saw her pic. I haven't sent her a message though, I feel a little shy about it - having met someone BEFORE sending them a message.

I would love to live in America one day. However, I wouldn't message anyone who lived wherever it was I was going to be until I had solid details and could tell them what my schedule was.

Paul McCartney Bans Meat From Latest Tour

"Ok, didn't want to post a whole new thread for a little question, so I'll take a chance and go off topic here and ask, any piano players out there or someone that reads music that can tell me what "time" a song in? i.e. like 2/4 etc etc cept maybe harder to decipher .......maybe not! I think it's 7/8 time or 5/7 but probably much simpler...thanks in advance~ or perhaps a site I can go to and figure it myself???"

That depends on the song itself, and unless you have a basic knowledge of rhythms or note lengths then it is very very difficult to explain properly.

I'll try though.

2/4 means there are 2 quarter notes or crotchets per bar.

7/8 means there are 7 eigth notes or quavers per bar.

There isn't a note with the length of '7', so you wouldn't see 5/7.

You need to find out where the first beat or the '1' is, then count it from there. They tend to be grouped in a general way. 5/8 is a group of 2 then 3 or 3 then 2, so you'd count it "one, two, one, two, three" or "one, two, three, one, two".

7/8 you can count it as "one, two, one, two, one, two, three" or "one, two, three, one, two, one, two" (it can be felt the same as 4/4 with one eigth note missed off the end).

That's just a very simple way of explaining it though, as there's a few different approaches to it.

I hope that helps.

Overrated Bands.
Posted: 4/26/2010 3:52:10 AM
I think thinking like this is destructive. What is the point in listing bands you don't like? Think about the things you do like and just don't worry about the rest.

I do have to take issue with this;

"What did anybody ever see in Steely Dan ?

I know, some people love Tower of Power.
I think they are one of the most under performing bands ever."

1. Steely Dan - some of the finest musicians ever playing some very groovy stuff, and making it look very easy (it's not). You might not like them, but their music is not only harmonically amazing it really does groove.

I defy anyone on earth to not find 'Babylon Sisters' to have a really fabulous groove. Bernard Purdie is THE MAN.

2. Tower of Power - I've listened to them and seen them live. They were hot stuff when I saw them. The only issue I have ever had with them is that their slower tunes become a bit arduous at times, so I can sort of see what you mean but they were/are still pretty great.

Paul McCartney Bans Meat From Latest Tour
Posted: 4/26/2010 3:45:54 AM
I heard he has almost exclusively hired vegan musicians for some time now, or maybe they just pretend to get the gig. That would be one hell of a money spinner doing a world tour with Paul McCartney.

I would certainly eat a vegetarian diet if I got the gig with him - it's not exactly going to kill me is it?

I prefer to browse this site and balance that with having a healthy social life too, which I hope someday will lead me to the right person.

Good luck though, and I'm sure everyone here would be very interested if you posted some of your experiences with these agencies.

Iraq war was immorale?

There is too much of an agenda in this thread for it to be a real debate.

Comments like: "The world is a safer place without Saddam and i wont bother talking more about it because your left wing political bull makes me sick." suggest a closed mind to me so there is no point even discussing this.

War - what is it good for?

On old friend told me he is in love with me last night, what to do here?

You also have to be careful of people you think are being 'there for you' aren't trying to get in there with you.

A woman I know did that and made her move when I was on a night out with loads of people and I was drunk. It takes two to tango of course but after I sobered up I felt like she hadn't been there to give advice or a soundboard for my frustrations, but she may have had her eye on me when I wasn't single.

Just a bit of free advice for you there.

How long before you give up on looking

I am going to go with the general tone of the replies here in that basically just relax a bit and go with it.

I don't get loads and loads of messages or responses but when it does happen I try not to invest too much hope in a person no matter how great their profile may seem.

You'll be alright, I'm sure.

In my humble opinion you should steer clear...for now.

When I split with my ex about 2 and a half years ago I wanted someone else straight away as the feeling of being in a relationship with someone I loved was gone in a flash and I wanted it replaced immediately but I was misguided in thinking that was the solution.

Thankfully I didn't proclaim my love for someone and I gradually got over it, but I think right now you're both probably a bit upset and if you do go down this path you may lose a friendship.

However, I get the impression just from reading your post that deep down you will already know what to do :)

Good morning people,

I hardly ever use the forae here but thought I'd give it a go yesterday after a friend sent me a link to a thread he started.

I am a fairly savvy guy when it comes to technology but I am pretty confused about using this forum as;

1. I can't seem to post without it quoting someone else, how do I remedy this?

2. I seem to have the 'powers' of a moderator but I don't know why.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

See you there people!
