Windows Vista vs. Windows 7 PCs sales thus far.

They didn't cut corners at all. This is perfectly in line with their business model.
They brought out Windows 95 with lots of bugs. Then when the customers had effectively tested Windows 95 and found the bugs, they brought out the finished version and called it Windows 95.
Then they brought out Windows 2000, let the customers test it, and then brought out Windows XP later as the finished version.
Then they brought out Windows Vista, let the customers test it, and then brought out Windows 7 as the finished version.
It saves them millions, because they don't need to test it themselves. They get almost double the income, by lots of consumers buying both versions. They've done it 3 times and every time, their customer base have accepted it.
It's a successful business strategy. You cannot blame them for making money with a strategy that has been successful again and again.
It's us consumers who are willing to fall for it. We're the mugs.
I thought that what beta testers were for. But I would not doubt they would do that. But then again I have not used Microsoft for the last 5 years now.

If she is 45 to 60 years old, the judge knows she will face age discrimination in the job market. If she hasn't worked outside the home for 23 years, she will face lack of experience discrimination and lack of recently upgraded skills will be another factor
They have laws against age discrimination pertaining to employment and no judge worth his salt should not take it into consideration.
I don't believe in lack of experience discrimination as either you have it or you don't.

What we women do for a date..

Lesson of this thread is that men must be very cheap if they care about paying for dinner when women pay so much for personal appearance things like all that has been mentioned on this thread and men pay comparatively little.
A woman can go out on a date and not have to spend a lot just to look presentable. Does she really need 30 pairs of dress shoes or 10 pursues or does she just like to shop? Does a man need to be compensated if he drives a Mercedes so she has a nice ride to be taken out to eat?

I don't see how the shortage would be due to upgrading from Vista to Windows 7. It uses a lot less resources & memory then Vista.

correct me if I'm wrong...but don't most of you single ladies do all that stuff on a regular basis regardless of whether you have a date or not???
I know very few women who will pass up an oppourtunity for some retail therapy or pampering just because they enjoy it...aside from the ouchy parts.
Men would spoil themselves the same way except our kind of therapy involves either exotic or antique cars...and that doesn't leave much left over for that date we're expected to pay for.
I'm with you on that. I've debated on this before and believe it is something they primarily do for themselves. Obviously they are not always going to be dating and continue to do the same things regardless. Which when you see what the OP says only shows it supports that idea.
okay Big Daddy... we all fall for the hype that sells everything from cosmetics to perfume, lingerie silk stockings, and stay ups.. but you know what? I like putting all that on for me, so I can feel feminine and sexy for my guy!

Ubuntu Linux.....Easy -or- Difficult ?

Only if they change the version # or model name...They do not make Wifi Adapters with the same exact name but different chipsets.
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/wireless/?p=128
Unfortunately, manufacturers, including Belkin,
sometimes vary the chipset on the same model Wi-Fi card
. Since discovering the Belkin card, I have visited three different Walmart stores and found three different versions. Version 5100 contains the Atheros chipset. The version number is printed on a white sticker located to the right of the barcode, see Figure B.
I have tried other versions of the Belkin Wireless G Desktop, but all have failed
. If your local Walmart doesn’t carry this specific version, I have also found the card at Staples.
Another good example is my Belkin PCMCIA Model F5D7010 wireless card. At least two versions are available with the exact same Name & model number. One that uses a Broadcom chipset the other a Atheros chipset that is supported in linux.
I'm getting indications other wireless manufactures change chipsets without changing the name such as Linksys and Dlink.

For example, a lot of girls like to date within 5 years of their age. I myself know a large number of females that think this way. Friends, co-workers, relatives, etc. You can read forum posts from females of all ages explaining that they don't want to date someone 5, or 10 or more years older.
Have you been on the forums long...lol
A recent study in the US showed that almost 1/3 of women aged 40-69 were dating men ten or more years their junior

Not saying they do it all the time, but it does happen. I found that out after I was searching for a wireless card for my own desktop. One well know brand an earlier card was supported before they changed to a different chipset.
The one I'm using is the Linksys Rangeplus PCI wireless card ( Model WMP110 ) It uses the new wireless-n protocol but is backward compatible with wireless-g ect. Walmart had them on sale for $40.00, wish I bought two while I had a chance.
I just put it in and it automatically installed drivers. It detected several access points so I picked my wireless router and I was good to go.
Oh, I also use Ubuntu 9.04 too, so that might be helpful.

Cool dude I hope you're kidding, either you need new glasses or you don't know how to apply thermal paste.
I am neither kidding or need new glasses. The max safe temperature for a Intel core 2 duo is 212 degrees Fahrenheit ( Depending on model ) Perhaps if you did a little research before posting you would know that too.
I see too many posts on how hot the macbooks & macbook pro tend to be explained away by bad application of thermal compound. Unless these laptops are constantly shutting down due to the thermal protection circuit, I don't think it would be a problem.

As far as wireless...
Keep in mind manufacturers often use different chipsets for the same device. So while a card is known to work in Linux, if they switch chipsets to a different one, it may not work. So version numbers might be important.

they'll have totem installed and ready to play a limited number of media file types
Usually if Totem has a file that it does not have a codec for it automatically brings up a window and gives you a few choices of what codec to use. A few clicks and your off playing your video. It uses a lot of the gstreamer plugins that work well.
But, the problem is, as those of who use Ubuntu (or any other distro) know that these free apps are not as powerful as the "real thing" - real thing being those over-the-counter products.
The majority of users will never use Photoshop to its full potential, if at all, so Gimp is usually more then enough. Still a few of these more powerful programs are available for linux, like Maya, Lightwave 3D, Houdini master. Mostly 3D graphics software
There are still some commercial software that is available for linux just like you have in windows...Firefox, Opera, Skype, Realplayer...ect. But not nearly as much though.
Of course Envy has made it easy to install video card drivers, but even then you have a ton of work to do.
If the video card is ATI or Nvidia, installing or setting up drivers are pretty much a non issue. Ubuntu automatically detects it, gives you a few choices and recommends the best driver for your system. A few clicks, its installed, then just reboot and your done. You even get a pretty good video card control app where you can change resolution, set up dual monitors and even overclocking. ( Yes, you have to do a bit of text editing )
Commands make it difficult to use too. sudo apt-get install xyz.xxx. Dealing with repositories, so on and so on.
Every operating system has its command line, even though you may never see it. Linux has almost a GUI application for nearly everything now, so you can use command line, Application/launcher or combination of both.
A command line has saved my butt more then a few times if an app locks up ( Or even the whole window-manager for that matter ) Drop to a command line to kill the offending app, and back to a graphics display.
Of course "sudo apt-get install" is just a command line version of Synaptic package installer gui. Its the users choice what to use.
I would love to get rid of Windows completely. But, until I can install a game, an app, or whatever in a few minutes (with WINE if necessary) and it work out a hitch I'll be forced to keep that damn 2 gig virus installed on a seperate partition. And,yes I realize that it is often not the fault of Linux that mainstream companies refuse to write or port their products for Linux compatibility - I get that. But, the more user friendly... I mean truly user friendly Linux gets the more popular it will become and the more market share it will take.
You don't have much to choose from to get away from windows. You could go to Apple MacIntosh, but as I'm finding out it has its limitations too.
Key point its pretty easy to use once you get use to the interface. But even with gaming you are still limited on the selection. They have some good games ported over to it. I just bought mac version of UT2004. I could not get past the installer screen. Turns out I had to download an updated installer and once I did no problems at all.
I thought by going Apple, I would have more software choices then Linux, but in many cases, not so.
I've been finding out many of my commercial software I enjoy in Linux is not available for the Mac.

Good point - so why do men still complain about women looking for a free ride? Golddiggers? If they expect women to be independent,
And I agree 100% with you. But I just came back from a thread where a poster said (and I'm only paraphrasing here) that the only two reasons a woman would want to get married is because she needs to be financially supported and/or she wants to make sure she's entitled to half his stuff when she leaves.
And that's just ONE post...there are literally hundreds of posts that basically say the same thing over and over again...it's all over these forums!
There will always be men who feel this way on the radical side of it. But I don't feel that represents most mens view on womens independence as a whole or even the majority of them. You only see some of the views of men on an internet forum.
Then why do they place women in a position where they feel they need to defend themselves? As much as men should expect it - a lot of them show in what they say and how they act that they're still worried about a woman wanting what they have.
I see it as why a woman would feel the need to defend her position on independence when she did nothing wrong, and why does she need to explain herself to those small portion of men that feel that way? In fact, I would try to distance myself from those type of men instead of constantly trying to reassure them. I would consider them not quite ready to date yet.

Ok out of those four programs (just four off the top of my head that I have been working with) 75% of them have been nothing but a hassel to get up and running without issue. SEVENTY FIVE percent.
Looks like someone beat me to the punch already. Linux is NOT windows. Windows programs do NOT natively run in Linux & vice versa. There are workarounds like wine & virtual machines but sometimes it still may not be supported.
How about the programs that were designed to run in Linux? Do those run ok?
The four example programs I just listed as the very same type applications a typical computer user would want and need. Do you really think they're going to have the patients to sit around for three days trying to get the to work, when they can do so with Windows in a matter of minutes?
Agian, Linux is not windows. If you really need to run all those windows programs, you should be sticking with windows in the first place, instead of expecting all of them to run flawlessly in Linux.
With Windows? Pop in the disk, install and off you go. With Linux? Try to install, keeping trying, ok got it installed, now tweek this and tweek that, change this config file, change that config file - and most of the time it'll still run buggy as hell.
I've installed linux on many computers & never taken more then 20 minutes, often easier to install then windows. On my sons computer a Vista install took 50 minutes. Same computer 15 minutes Linux install and already on a desktop and with a 25 second boot time!
Linux is weak, it's always been weak. That comes with it being utter fragmented with 100's of variations.
If there was one word to describe Linux, it would not be weak. A better file system, better memory management, better security. As you can see with all the different distributions available, far more flexible too.
The point I have been trying to make is that until Linux becomes more user friendly - and don't give me this "most people just want to check email anyway, because that's total bunk" it'll never make a dent in the market place.
The idea is not to dumb down the operating system so people can use it, but increase peoples knowledge on how to use it.
It already has made quite a dent so far. 60% in the server market. Universities & colleges, Render-farms for animation and special effects studios. Most of the supercomputers use it. You will be surprised on the amount of home users run it. I have a video-chat show & constantly talking to different people who use it.

I have never heard a man say, "I'm independent, I don't need a woman"... never. Now that I think about it, I've never heard a man say, "I'm independent"... not once in 27 years.
By contrast, men have never had to clear that up, because men were never househusbands, and most women haven't been targeted by men for support/financial stability. It's a given that men are independent (or should be) because it's always been expected of them.
I would agree with you if you were talking about 50 years ago ( Well, literally, ending around the late 60's ) Now a days its hard for women not to work, even if married. where at one time it was encouraged for women to get married early and establish a household while the husband went to work.
I don't see how a man today that could not expect, at least some, independence from a woman. Especially if she is living by herself.

Endless Harrassments for a Variety of Permissions
It is a small price to pay for security and why most viruses/malware/spyware does'nt work very well in a Linux enviorment. Because even if one gets established in ones Linux computer, for the most part, it will wipe out a users account without taking out the rest of the computer with it.
Windows on the other hand is always in administrators mode, without having to use a password. And the main reason why its so vunerable to attack. Never had to worry about virus scanners/malware remover ect.
And I don't really buy the market share theory ( Linux does not have many viruses because it's not worth it for hackers to develop them as not as many use it. )
psychotic Directory Structures
Not psychotic, but different. If you mean never having to defrag my hard drive agian, then yes, thats psychotic...
Threads that go unanswered for Weeks if not Months and see if that all makes any sense to you.
As just like on here, people don't do thread searches first, and people get tired of answering the same questions over and over agian.
On a few occations I've seen software bugs fixed litterally over night, with downloads available the next day.
90% problems I've had with linux were fixed with online forums or a google searches without even having to post on a linux forum. Yes it takes time occationally.

Apple is even worse than Microsoft.
At least Microsoft like and allow other developers to develope software for their platform, Apple usually allow you to submit an idea then seal it from you, or say its not good enough and then go on to develop it and claim as its their development money and you didnt patent it its all theirs...
Apple has plenty of third party software available written for the mac. Both operating systems have people submiting requests for features & fixes which is voluntary. If they spent their time and expense of software engineers to develop these requested features, why should they not claim it as their own?
Seems all new windows computers don't come with restore disks anymore. They want to put a restore partition on your hard drive, making your availible disk space smaller then advertized. Unless they burn recovery disks right away, a potential virus can wipe out partition that has windows on it. Thats what happened to my wifes computer. Kept on looking for windows disk, but there were none. Then they want to charge me for disks when it should come with it for free?
Never have to worry about install disks on an Apple computer, they always come with it. Even when my new Mac pro came with an older version of Mac-OS X, they included Leopard Snow ( Along with the original install disk ) unlike having to still contact Microsoft or the PC manufacture, even if they are free.
Like to upgrade your computer a lot?, too many times and off to phone MS to get it reactivated agian.
If you put another operating system on your pc and try to run the same windows in a virtual machine on the same computer? You still have to call Microsoft to get it reactivated.
I don't need a paranoid operating system. I need an OS to do what I need it to do without it constantly questioning if I'm doing it legally or not.

It would totally piss me off if my man would add people to his facebook or myspace or whatever account. What's the point of having an account for the public to view? Set it to private or close the account; both of you. This way the problem is dealt with. Case closed.
If one is so worried about privacy, the Internet is not the best way to go. Why bother to have any account in the first place?

The annoying security popups people complain about? Oh, sure, annoying....but next time a malicious advert tries to infect your computer, you'll be glad it alerted you.
If you overuse the security pop-ups, people will start to simply ignore it. How about a security pop-up when there is an actual threat? Now thats something that is really needed. Not something to question a persons every move, that in itself is not a security device

"Dependency" is a COMPARISON, not a quantifiable measurement. I do agree that those who "define" themselves as....easy going, reasonable, romantic, sensual....or good kissers!!! LOL! ARE making subjective comparisons of themselves and would be much more accurate if they stated " I have been told that I am.....blah, blah, blah...whatever".
Good example. I never put descriptions of my personality in my profile because not only does it sound cliché, but everyone has their own interpretation of what it means. Its better to stick to facts and not try to describe oneself to much.
If someone describes themselves as independent yet is receiving alimony or child support from a stepparent, does not strike me as independent.
People will make their own observations & base that on what they see, no matter how much you try to describe yourself.
Anyway, the topic of this thread isn't about independent women per se, it's about red flags on women's profiles, but either way, BOTH topics are redundant and biitching about other people's profiles is a no-no and is used in the Rules and Regulations of this forum as an example of what constitute an invalid thread.
Nice try, you don't like the topic now, so lets get rid of it. While there are plenty of threads themselves about red flags or independent women, Combining both reveals a topic quite unique. At least when doing a thread search.
Discussing what in ones profile is perfectly legal as long as you don't flame them about it.

"I do NOT need a man"
I believe it's actually 'I do not NEED a man'. Again, a nuance can mean a great difference.
The point which you seem oddly reluctant to acknowledge is, however nuanced, both are still negative sentiments.
Besides that, it seems to be rather hopeful to expect someone to place the same nuance on it, especially if we need to resort to all caps to make the point.
I agree with Margo, its all semantics, no matter how much you try to repackage it, it means the same thing....

Some people think it as a date, some not. But in end, why does it really matter? Either way your still trying to see if it might work out.

In other words, your actions through dating will show them that you are not clingy or financially dependant without having to state so. Because that is the real and more accurate indicator of what your real intentions are going to be.
Your actions through dating will also show men you have a sense of humour (or not), are sarcastic (or not), like to go for those long walks on beaches (or not), are confident (or not), ad nauseum. So, why state anything in a profile at all? If you chose to believe all the smarmy sweetness that is put forth in profiles in order to attract men and it turns out these women wind up actually being cling-ons or total biotches, why is it any less difficult to believe that a woman who states they don't need a man and are independent could mean simply that they aren't a cling-on or a biotch who use men in a self-serving way? In reality, the one who states they don't need a man and are independent could actually be the more straight up, believable individuals from the get go. If you have a doubt of what they mean by the phrase, coummicating with them will actually provide clarification...don't communicate with them and you'll never know. It's amazing what people can miss out on by pre-judging and assuming. Just a thought.
I was initially commenting on what they were saying and they were the ones who were initially that brought it up.
But in a way yes. Ok, so someone puts I'm independent, I don't need a man, I want one ect, thats one thing. Then you have what I like to call negative profiles, that tend to go a bit too far into the independence thing and end up sounding like , I am woman, hear me roar, because I'm going to make sure you hear me.
So I am wary of a profile that focuses on independence too much.
I think people are attracted more to positive profiles without too much drama thrown in.

Now, had I used 'independent' in my profile, I would have done so to reassure the numerous men who are terrified of clingy and/or financially dependent women
I don't see the real need to reassure anyone as you can use just the very thing you commented on....
In other words, your actions through dating will show them that you are not clingy or financially dependant without having to state so. Because that is the real and more accurate indicator of what your real intentions are going to be.
The only way,I find, is to read , email, chat and then date for a while when it comes to on line dating. Yes you can glean some information here in the forums about what messages could mean but its up to each person to decide what works for them. IMHO
Well, hallelujah and praise the lord - a person who allows for the possibility of his own misinterpretation and is willing to enquire before judging. Sir, please clone yourself - the world needs a few billion of you!

Why would someone feel the need to state they are independent? Everyone should be able to take care of themselves.
I often see it as unresolved issues from previous relationships.

Use task manager find out which program is using so much of your cpu. That should help you track down, what is wrong.

Is your macbook too hot?

I looked at the pictures and really didn't see what the problem was. Before you say if something is too hot, you have to find out the design spec's of that particular system. It was brought up before if the newer mac mini's ( That use the Intel Core 2 Duo, the same one used in the macbook pro ) were too hot, but its normal for them to run at a higher temperature.

Are more of you purchasing MAC systems over Windows?
Posted:

I know apple dont support it.
If OS X is as good as you say apple wont need to support it will they?
After all its the prefect OS, so your point is rather pointless ;)
Thats because they are trying to run a Hackintosh. Apple sells computer systems, not just separate software or hardware. Thats why they work so well. An operating system that was programmed to work with specific hardware. Windows, obviously is designed to work with as many systems as possible.
Trying to get MacOSX to run on hardware it was not designed for, of course there will be more problems & subsequently no support for.
Even if one does get it to run on a regular pc, in the long run, it won't be as stable. After a few updates often breaks it. One would be better off running Linux on it.
GPU's have been available for mac's for quite some time now. Even mac mini's come with one now. Just not maybe the GPU's you are wanting perhaps.
I have been running Linux for 15 years now & for the last 5 years I have been windows free. I've never had a virus, or malware yet. Not to say it will never happen though. I would think macs would have similar results.
Just had a my sons windows vista machine over come by virus/malware already.

Admin has intimated that continual first contact mails ot Other Relationship will also trip the filter
Seems to be a huge grey area what this means and what others think it means. I've read many threads about what "Other relationships" suppose to mean and still have no idea for sure. If "other relationship" is considered the same, being treated the same way, as IE, why have both? Looking for "Intimate encounter" is self explanatory, Other relationship is not. Probably have many people flagged for the wrong reasons, I think "Other relationships" need to go then.

Suggestion: a CREEP filter
Posted:
9/9/2009 2:09:05 PM
Um, depends on what the woman thinks of what a creep is & is up to a lot of interpretation. I don't think anyone wants to be labeled a creep if all he does is say "Hi" & gets blocked because she is not interested and does not want any further contact. So now he has one strike against him just because he was interested. Better ways to prevent things like that, a report button comes to mind.

Should I keep the wireless router or go wired?
Posted:

Do you have your wireless encrypted with a password? Might have several people on your connection taking away your bandwidth away. Use to live in a building with other tenants. Noticed sometimes my internet speed seemed too slow for just two people running off of it. On a whim, I disconnected my wireless antenna and my speed went back to normal. Have hacks to often get passwords off wireless routers with packet sniffers or some such things.

Manners when asking for Messenger ID

PER BARBEE 1970
"The rude response wasn't necessary. I don't like to give my IM out either. I think you did the right thing.
The problem I encounter is that men don't want to have an intelligent conversation with instant messenger. They always have to start thinking with their little heads(between their legs) and talk about sex."
I think Barbee 1970 was SPOT ON as well...
Instant messaging is not the problem, its the type of men using it. A mans real intentions are not going to change depending on the mode of communication.
If someone can't control themselves in a IM chat, I think that is something you would want to know right away, not months down the line. If anything, it will save you lots of wasted time.

Manners when asking for Messenger ID
Posted:

The way I see it that was a kind gentle way to say I didn't want to be asked for that information in a first contact email. Not everyone tosses out their messenger id...ALL of my friends are cautious about who they toss it out to...My instant messenger is reserved for friends and family...I do not want to go the trouble of removing someone if they don't have normal social skills...I don't feel it is my job to teach them either ...Grown adults should know what good manners are already...
Not everyone tosses out their messenger id...
And not everyone use's it just for family or friends. Don't expect people to use their IM the same way as you do or all your friends.
I don't feel it is my job to teach them either ...Grown adults should know what good manners are already...
A grown adult should not feel the need to teach others just because they do things differently.

Googling Before a Date ?
Posted:

When people google me they find another guy with my name. And my name is not common. He is in the same industry and we have a lot in common. The next six, not so much. I know people google me because they come up with the wrong info about me all the time
You have to be careful on where you get your information. Doing a Google search is not the most accurate way to get it. You would be surprised on how many people might share the same name. If you accuse him of telling you a lie when you are wrong, it just makes you look bad.

There is no such thing as right or wrong when asking for someones IM on the first contact. Thats because people have different opinions on it. Some people prefer Instant Messages to email and there is nothing wrong with that, it is just a different form of communication.
You were rude to him by saying it was bad manners for him to ask. So you received a rude response in return. Maybe you can use this as a learning experience for next time.

The last 5 posts in profile- didn't really care if they left as is or took it out. I have nothing to hide.
The main problem with the fave count being displayed was with some people's predilection for making assumptions based in ignorance.
Might I add, extreme ignorance...
Very glad to see that go. Based so many assumptions on something the user had no control over. Sure you could delete them, but some people would turn around and put them back on their favorites. People simply don't have that much time.

Single moms and pictures of their kids on profile
Posted:
8/12/2009 7:04:28 PM
I am now sitting here with a friend who just came to visit, who is a former police psychologist and has had a lot of contact with sex offenders, predators and other deviant personality types. (He's also the parent of two school-aged kids.) I showed him this thread and he was livid. He asked me to write this on his behalf:
"Anyone who posts pictures of young kids, be they your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews or the kid from down the street on an online dating site needs their goddamned head examined! This is highly exploitive, and downright dangerous. Even if these kids aren't in any imminent physical danger, do you want some pervert whacking off to a photo of them? Hate to be so crude, but this happens all the time. So I implore those who do this to knock it off, ASAP!"
Uh, I think he probably knows a little more about the subject than the rest of us on here!
Sorry, but most of us don't know who this former police psychologist is, know what his credentials are, how long he has been working with the police and in what capacity. So I am not taking this as a credible source.
predators do not need a picture to find a victim with children, all they have to do is read a profile to learn who does or who does not have children. it is foolish to think that having a picture with your children increases your chances of being a victim. predators will target the adult with the lowest resistance and that can be discovered in the first conversation with or without a picture.
Yep, saying yes, for children on dating site they already know you have children. A dating site is a rather hard way of getting access to someones kids. Still have to go through parents at a minimum.
The biggest problem is leaving your children on the Internet unsupervised. Often they join chat, networking sites often violating terms of service as they lie about their age. Adults often let kids have computers in their own rooms with Internet access. Its very easy for predators to have direct access to the child themselves, without parents knowledge through these means.

I'm not ashamed in the slightest. Why should it be my fault other people send these kinds of mail?

Younger men have spoiled me!!!
Posted:
8/8/2009 2:02:46 PM
Wow. This OP is from 2005. And some of the people that posted on the original string with the original poster are still on this site.
And bitter as hell. This is not encouraging.
Actually I find the OP the one that is bitter on older men her age. All you have to do is start reading her posts. She even admits to finding a younger man and admits to screwing that up.
I have said it in my 30's and now at 40. ..Men are finished in dating and love and sex when they hit thier 40's these days.
Women are in the driver's seat now, call the shots and have the power. Younger men will now be thier main choice, and only those who want to settle will take an old guy. Glad I am not dating at 40. I figured if I am single by the time I am 40, I will be done with dating. Well best choice ever. Younger men are the real men out there, truth hurts guys, accept it. Unless you got money then it is a whole different picture.
Women are in the driver's seat now, call the shots and have the power.
Women with control issues? No thanks, I'll pass. Probably why they seek younger guys, the older men won't put up with it.

Secondly, I am talking about Canada, the country I live in. Regardless of whether or not a website is internationally or not, for every nation it has users in, it must abide to that country's Freedom of Privacy rules & regs.
Good luck with that...
I'm not sure where you are from, but the Government of Canada is currently taking Facebook to court for negligence on this exact same topic.

Ever heard of the Gold Analogy?

However, do you REALLY want to build a relationship with someone who has never experienced life? Do you not understand that it is the hard times in our lives that make us strong!
I still agree with OP on being able to get through hardships is necessary and it allows us to learn how to deal with it.
But, since being formally married to a wife & her stepson that both turned out to be bipolar I have had enough drama & hardships to last several lifetimes.
My wife since passed away, but still on occasion still end up being caught between him & his girlfriend's drama which I stay out of.

But those with ``drama'' are those who do not learn from their experiences.
Great response, along the lines what I was thinking. . If someone is already in their 40's and still likes to contribute to constant strife, still has not learned or simply does not care too. I have meet some people like that, and stay away at all costs.

Younger men have spoiled me!!!
Posted:

I totally get where you are coming from. I think it's generational. I find men my age and older are sexist and patronizing, almost always have ridiculous double standards that grate on the nerves and regardless of being married or not they still want to jump my bones and are crudely open about it. However, the younger guys have way more respect for themselves and women in general. I'm generalising of course but I still think it's basically true that there is a huge change in attitudes between those born in the 60's and those born in the 70's. They are not controlling and domineering and don't act all superior all the time. They are also a delight to work with. None of the stupid power games the older guys insist on playing.
Its really all generalizations. The OP since long gone. She was making some rather boastful comments on how great younger guys were. But it smelled a little fishy. Upon looking at her posting history I found out that her comments totally contradicted her postings in other topics. When I confronted her about this she called me bitter and resentful. Here was my previous conversation to her about this in message 73:
In one of her other replys for another topic states the incredible amount of mail she is receiving from younger guys thinking shes desperate for sex just because shes an older woman. It sounds like it does not make younger guys as nice as she states in this topic.
Post 74:
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL hahahahahahahahahahaha.......reading that post only goes to show who are the ones that are bitter.....and if men only go with women for what they can offer, shouldnt we as women being be doing the same and YES WE FINALLY ARE and its not for the money hahahahahahahaha.....
I think it is all relative. Sure older women may like younger men for whatever reason. But just as many men look for older women for sex as well and vice versa. Its all just the process in finding someone that is comparable for you. So don't go by generalizations too much.

Douchebag Filter.

Don't worry, it's a choice for anyone to put a filter on thier profile. Just like "Must not have messaged users looking for intimate encounters or sex."
Ok, I misunderstood the meaning of this feature. But I have a feeling admin might nix such a feature.
If it were in effect, it might be counter productive to how the site works. If you reduce the flow of email too much, it will reduce the amount of customers getting replies. Too many unhappy customers not getting replies, means loss of customers & revenue.
I think I remember hearing a feature that allowed a member to block someone without receiving an email from them ( If anyone else can verify it ). But that was nixed also, I'm guessing for the same reasons.
