I think I will cry
But I know you are strong and you will be better than ever.
Don't delete your profile though you might want to take a peak ever once in a while.
I do feel you are my sister that I never met and my feelings are deeper than you know.
I wish you the best with all my heart and I know that you are a true survivor.
Good luck and hurry back

Even though it wasn't the question,
the most important line in this thread is the header:
IF YOU WANT TO BE LOVED, BE LOVABLE
and then everything else will fall into place.
Treat others as you would like to be treated and they will respond in kind.

I like that line
I may put it on my fridge.

edit: couldn't make it to the fridge, put it in my profile (I hope that's ok?)
Indy, you are so right!

Pre emptive dumps - is it a chick thing?
Posted: 9/10/2006 11:53:07 AM

To my experience, women are always too busy looking for signs, analyzing things and worrying about direction, outcome and the return value in the their emotional investment once they decide that they really like the guy. That brings a lot of stress to the relationship and takes the fun out of it ... and when testing, if the man is not prepared to say yes right there and then .. huff and puff and do a preemptive dump .. and I don't mean the number 2.

i agree with this 100%.
and i do not like it either
it is caused by insecurity
not neccessarily able to be corrected by communication as if you are at this stage and that uncomfortable communication could actually make it worse. don't ask what you don't want to know.
men that understand women would not allow the woman to feel so insecure unless that was his intentions to start with.
when a man makes a woman secure she should never have any reason to question what the man does
and the same would hold true in reverse.

no one wants to be dumped first or last, but there is something to be said about woman's intuition.

Does anyone use the telephone anymore ???
Posted: 9/6/2006 8:15:59 AM
it is hard to find time to talk on the phone

people are too busy for the phone anymore
even with cell phones
with work schedules and other calls it is hard to find a minute to talk
i think text messages by cell are great
i always miss phone calls
but text messages are there waiting for you to read them at your convenience
anytime night or day you can get your messages even if you are asleep

usually text are followed with a phone call for clarification
i would prefer to save talking for face to face

the phone is good for taking pics though

The Definition of a FLIRT/GOLD-DIGGER
Posted: 5/7/2006 11:51:28 PM
Not a damn thing wrong with flirting, it's all in fun.

Anna Nicole Smith, she made that old man happy until he died, who knows maybe she even loved him. And do you think it really mattered at all to him?

It used to be that women looked for men to support them, now society has changed to the point that women are supposed to be equal breadwinners along with having feminine issues, and usually left raising the children themselves. Then when they ask for a small amount of money for child support they are thieving ****es. Most child support wouldn't even cover daycare let alone raising children.

If a rich man or woman finds themselves with what they consider a gold digger than maybe they got what they were truly looking for. And at times it takes work from both to achieve that.

Generally it takes a smart man to make money, it is his decision on how he wants to spend it.

And I do have to say funny thread from an 18 year old.

I was in a reverse situation, but nontheless painful. I fell for a man whom later I found out had money, and then tried to lure me in with money. If he had none it would not have mattered but apparently he had been previously burned by a golddigger and felt a need for me to prove myself to him. He wouldn't let me just love him for him.

I'm Not Attracted To Men My Age....
Posted: 5/7/2006 11:20:03 PM
I am attracted to men that I am attracted to.

I understand the OP's point and I find it a shame how people have let themselves go, look at teenagers even, I think when I was a teen I had too much pride not to look good and junk food has definitely taken a toll on many. What will they look like when they age?

As I am much older now, I am still vain enough to look as good as I can, fortunately my teen age daughters have perfect figures and I have taken care of myself enough that I can share clothes with them.

Like attracts like.

I would not be interested in anyone that did not attract me or I did not attract them. This is not being shallow, this is how it is.

Age is not the issue, but can become an issue when you are attracted to someone that is extremely hot and 15 years younger. Because the maturity level of the younger one is more than the older one, age does not present a factor. Being a woman though, the insecurities are there even when they are unfounded.

POF Profile Translations

I had to check your age on your profile twice...
it seems to be something off of myspace.

I looked for the box that said do you like me check yes or no.

The first thing you knock is "artist", and yet the only pics in your profile were made by an artist???

and previous poster on definitions of dating and friends, to some dating is high school, which is why they are looking for friends.

All of this thread is personal interpretation and not to have anyone in agreement with anything, if they are not offended.

An occasional drinker does not mean a former AA member, could but it may be just someone that likes to have an occasional drink.

Why are all the experts those that have been on here for less than a week anyway?

Birthday gifts practical or from a wish list?
Posted: 4/5/2006 2:12:37 PM
I view birthday gifts in a different way.
More about memories.
Birthday gifts are to me something that I will look back on and say this happened on my 30th birthday, not what someone bought for me.

It is the wish list but the wish list is not necessarily material.

'Other relationship'
Posted: 4/5/2006 10:32:17 AM
Hides head in shame, I used other relationship when I first joined.
I did not know what I was looking for I just knew it wasn't listed.

I did not know what I was looking for, I didn't want to date, I wasn't able to conceive long term, Hang-out sounded to young, friends what kind of friends???

Actually worse than that, when I first joined I joined under initmate encounter and then went to other relationship.

I thought intimate encounter was something sweet and personal not a one night stand!

Posted: 4/4/2006 10:47:26 AM
He's scared

He is afraid you will find out he is not the man that he seems to be.

It seems everyone on here is looking for some kind of fantasy.

If you meet then the fantasy becomes reality and then there will be no more fantasy.
He does not have what he has led you to believe he has to offer, whether it be looks, availability, age, lifestyle or whatever. He just isn't what you think him to be.

Or he has been in prison for the last 2 years.

well if you were going to Spain that would be a once in a lifetime deal I would think. You would need to spend 3 weeks there because of the cost of getting there to enjoy yourself.

it all depends on where you want to be when.

moving in with a partner can be as big a step as getting married. I am comfortable where I am and untill I feel that attached again I will not move in. I might visit many nights but I like my house and having 2 teenage daughters I have no desire to let someone move in with me at the present. Too many issues involved and like I said I wouldn't move in with anyone that I would not marry.

Vegas
Posted: 3/25/2006 6:05:31 AM
I went last week.
Prices on hotels change everyday, one day the same hotel can be 89 and the next day 600.
It depends on how they are booked. I stayed at tropicana, it was great especially for the location. You can walk to mgm and nyny across the street. I went to the Joint at the Hard Rock and saw Korn it was one of those unbelievable concerts. And concerts must be better in vegas with the opening acts this one was 4 1/2 hours.
The bellagio great sights got some great pics of the water show.

Could you be a kept man\woman?
Posted: 3/22/2006 12:51:21 PM

I guess, for some, I should expand on how "I" see a kept person.

You are taken care of in the sense of having a place to live and nice things and a vehicle to drive. In exchange for this you are at the beck and call of the one paying the bills. Emotionally, sexually or whatever. It isn't about YOUR desires ... it is about theirs. I see some women who seem to have that confused with wife. Hardly the same

whose confused????

Could you be a kept man\woman?
Posted: 3/21/2006 4:49:35 PM
Women have been kept forever, that has been a way of life for many.
My mother was kept
My grandmother was kept.
2 of the strongest most independent women I know. NO they were not slaves, they were wives, how wives were previously conceived before men started tossing out the word "partner".
When a woman and the need to support them becomes a driving force for success.
My sister is "kept", she hasn't worked since she was 20 in the outside workforce but you ought to see her beautiful children and house. Perfect and immaculate. They are equals they are happy.

Behind every good man is a good woman, behind every good woman is a good man.

hell yeah!

Time to spill it...........
Posted: 3/20/2006 5:36:30 PM
rpburns as hard as it seems to believe says a lot of truth

I too have fallen
Women so want to trust
Some men do know what they can do and have no conscience about it
I also did background checks because my 6th sense said it was all fantasy I was being offered everything that I wanted
Background checks can show up zero if you have met up with a man who can pay cash for everything and fly under the radar.
Background checks can also be wrong if someone has stolen a piece of your identity.
You can trust the background checks as well as you can trust the person you are dealing with.
There are now services sold to protect your identity from those trying to do a background check on you.

Men and women leading double lives seems to be becoming more common, easier online, but the one I met was in person.
It became a challenge to me to know why was he doing what he did to me and why it was even more bizarre than just being married. I couldn't become "unbrainwashed" without knowing why someone would behave this way to someone else.
That is almost even harder to understand when you find the devil someone whom does not act as a normal person would act in a relationship involving trust and love.
When someone's fantasy is to manipulate you by becoming your fantasy and then you find that the reality is that is all it is, just fantasy.
But then when they have manipulated and created this big fantasy world and you stand up and try to expose them you are taking back what they have worked so hard to create and it causes anger.
It is good to escape, it is good to escape with your life, and to want to keep looking and living afterwards.

There is a reason for everything
I would not give up the ride for anything
and I am Still Alive.
