Dale - Laura - you ladies did such a great job with the party tonight! I wish I had gotten down there a bit earlier to get more pictures of everyone. Thank you so much for the hard work that I know goes into putting one of these together. This was one of the best - especially all the fun we had out on the patio... I didn't use the IM feature often at all, but I had to find this thread to figure out it was POF that had killed it, not a browser/java malfunction or some setting I had inadvertently changed. You might want to update the "HELP" section so others can more easily figure out it's been turned off: http://www.plentyoffish.com/faq.aspx#19 It still reads (in part): "You can use the instant message feature with any other users online for free..." Dale, Yet another great party and fun night for all hosted by YOU, Miss Dale! :) My first time down at KIS - what a crowd! And the band was most excellent, too. What a great trip! As Pami said - the bluegrass music afterwards was a perfect ending to a beautiful night. Thanks to my illustrious (and well synchronized! LOL!) partner Martie (sunpass) who cohosted this event - thanks to Kristen and Mike for an incredible job with the food (I should have snagged some extra cookies for the ride home though - they were good! heh heh!) and mostly - to the fishes who came out to enjoy the night! Important launch site and trip information! We are going to be launching from within the park: John D. MacArthur Beach State Park - (561) 624-6950‎ 10900 Jack Nicklaus Drive North Palm Beach, FL 33408 Directions: 95 to PGA Blvd - go east. Stay on PGA Blvd and you will cross US1. It will swing to the south and becomes Jack Nicklaus Drive (used to be called State Rd 703) – go to Park entrance which will be on the left – pay at the gate - $4.00 per car) – ask the Ranger on duty for a map to Kayak launch. You should arrive no later than 4:00 p.m. as we will be launching at 4:30 p.m. sharp. Of course, you can come earlier. Mike and Kristen are bringing finger foods, appetizers, cheese, etc. – bring your own beverages in plastic bottles. No alcoholic beverages please! Cash or check only for payment. Wow! I just called the Park and here is the deal on the concert they are having Saturday night: They are having a special Bluegrass concert to honor Bill Rich who recently and unexpectedly passed away. He was formally with a band called Bill Rich and the Untold Riches. His family (sons and daughters) along with a variety of other Bluegrass musicians will be playing that night to pay tribute to him. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. Additionally, they are having an informal stargazing session during intermission which starts at 8 p.m. We should be finishing up our kayak adventure right in time to catch the stargazing and second half of the show! Kathryn (who runs the nature center at the Park – 561-624-6970) told me that people usually come down with blankets and/or lawn chairs and picnic type foods to enjoy along with the show, so feel free to bring whatever you’d like in that regard. The cost to get in the Park for the concert is $5.00 per person payable at the Park gate entrance (after our trip). Directions and entrance to the Park for the show is the same as above – basically follow PGA Blvd east all the way to A1A and the entrance to the Park. One more thing – I spoke with Kristen this morning and we will have a launch location for our kayak adventure in the next couple of days which I’ll post directions to here, so keep an eye out for that. Note: As of this morning Kristen has 8 people signed up for the trip. There are 12 people who have signed up here on POF. It’s imperative that you call her to sign up for this trip if you haven't done so already as she is only bringing enough kayaks for people who make a reservation with her. We would hate to have someone arrive at the Park expecting to go on this trip and not be able to go because they didn’t call her. So make your calls if you haven’t done so already! Thanks and looking forward to seeing you all at the adventure on the water and some good old timey music afterwards! Chris P.S. Here's what's usually in my "go kayaking" dry bag: 1. Um, for starters, a good dry bag to put all the other stuff in. If you're not sure what a dry bag is, use "the google" and search for keywords "sealine dry bags". 2. 100 percent DEET (mosquito repellent). This time of year shouldn't be a problem, but I keep it in the bag just in case. 3. I toss a change of clothes and a towel in the car in case of an inadvertent "ker-plunk" into the water. I've done it. It's fun to have dry clothes to change into. :) 4. A bazooka to ward off the alligators who might mistake you or your boat as something it might breed with. 5. OK, well, harsh language will hopefully work on the alligators, so scratch item #4. 6. An LED headlamp with a red or green filter for night vision. Not a must, but again handy to have in case you need light and don't want to blind yourself (or others) with a regular light. 7. Water is my primary beverage of choice, so I bring a couple of bottles of that. 8. If you do wind up being chased by a gator and you're quick on the paddle, then a rod and reel so you can go trolling as you try to escape becoming part of the food chain. ;) Hope this helps! :) Chris

Not kidding at all - the Palm Beach Post has a sub site called "PostPix" where you can post pictures of events around town. I post my POF pics there as Ron usually posts his there as well. That's how I found out about it. If POF had a better mechanism to post pictures besides uploading 2 at a time, I'd post them here, but that's a bit too time consuming and labor intensive considering I'm uploading over 60 pics from this event whilst I type this. I wish they would fix this. :( Does anyone know why they can't or won't?
