Religion is the True EVIL in the world
Posted: 4/27/2008 1:48:22 AM
"In labelling others as "evil", all we are doing is creating a barrier and not only will we never relate to these people (an oxymoron), we will never try for fear of understanding them and doing "evil" ourselves..."

Interesting point. So, you don't think it's possible for me to, say, recognize that molesting children or raping women is absolutely evil, without "creating a barrier" between me and the rapist/ molester? All right, I guess that might be true, though I tend to believe that people can commit completely evil acts, and still be capable of finding redemption and understanding. But anyway, where's your concern for the decent people that often get hurt {to various degrees} by evil acts?

I don't like to think of individuals as "evil," but I do think there's lots of evidence for the existence of absolute evil. Society does not designate morality. Or, at least, not mine.

Christians belive that there is no hell???

I believe in a literal hell. The bible talks about hell as a place, and in very specific terms.

Heaven???
Posted: 4/27/2008 1:36:05 AM
Short answer to this entire topic {I don't feel like whipping out a Bible and playing 'Scripture Tennis' with everyone here}: Yes, Christians {and some Jews that lived before Christ came to Earth} are the only ones that God {Jehovah} said will get to Heaven. If we choose to admit and omnipotent God exists, we must also admit he gets to make the rules, and that includes religion. Jesus says something to the effect of, "there is no other way, only my way or the highway" and that's the choice you get.

Short Response to the 5.9 Billion people who disagree: Don't like it? Fine. Don't agree? Fine. But the "Christians are the only ones who go to Heaven" argument has more than a little Biblical backing, so if you're going to believe in Jehovah, you kind of have to get in line with this.

No sex outside marriage? what would you think?
Posted: 4/17/2008 11:42:33 PM
I can't really speak from experience {never been married,} but I think you should do whatever you want. The right guy will think you're worth waiting for, and such a rule may indeed weed out the people who only want a physical relationship with you. Pretty much anyone who's answering this topic with "I wouldn't waste my time on you" is a good example of this. You don't think it'd be worth it? Fine, somebody else will. I'm assuming this is about your beliefs, since you already have kids. And why let random people you don't know change your beliefs. Do whatever you want!

Easter - How can Christians celebrate a date that changes every year?
Posted: 3/4/2008 12:42:10 AM
To answer the original question of this topic, I don't really believe that it MATTERS when you celebrate Christmas. I'm a Christian, but I don't feel like the dates for celebrating Jesus' birth and rebirth are half as important as the fact that I DO celebrate it. Talk about missing the forests for the trees!

Why do men stare at womens boobs & think we don't notice ???
Posted: 3/4/2008 12:33:23 AM
You know, I kind of hate to say this, because of how lame this sounds, but sometimes I'm completely lost in thought, thinking about my Term paper or something. Then, all of a sudden, I realize where my eyes happen to be resting, often on an attractive girl's behind or midsection. While that was not my intent, I'm kind of oblivious when I'm lost in thought, so it's not unusual for me to be staring in any direction that might be considered impolite. Rest assured, however, that I always observe the "half- second glance" rule for anytime that I'm aware of my actions.

Who is on your favorites lists?
Posted: 2/13/2008 11:46:50 PM
I'm a little guilty of this. I plan to talk to them, since they usually seem utterly fascinating, but I want to get on with my other web- surfing or something. It's just a time- saver, since I don't have to bring up another search option or something. Sometimes I'm also just lazy. I suppose I'll try to be better about this, now that I know that it seems to bother women. In some cases it might just be that their pictures are smokin' hot, but they live 4000+ miles away.

Guys: What is your intake with Gamer and Computer Chics?
Posted: 2/13/2008 11:22:25 PM
Yeah, I find gamer chicks attractive. Just so long as they aren't completely into the life- swallowing MMO games... I'm a console gamer, but I guess I don't really play all that much anymore. A little Shadow of the Colossus or something, and I'm good for a while. But yes, gaming girls are VERY attractive.

Why are the young people on here?
Posted: 2/8/2008 8:46:33 PM
Well, I don't really like to party, I don't drink or smoke {and don't want to.} I'm kind of busy, and I'd rather get to know somebody before I go get a part- time job just to support the money I'm throwing her way {in the form of dates, presents, etc.} Yeah, that doesn't sound very romantic, but right now I'm more interesting in passing my WR 121 class than having a bunch of go- nowhere relationships out on the dating scene. I didn't realize that older people, who have the money, the stability and sometimes even the free time {kids grown up and gone} had to "resort" to this.

Dancing Christians and Sipping Saints
Posted: 2/8/2008 8:18:57 PM
Well, someone asked for an old- fashioned Christian, so here I am. Prepare yourselves all to commence the flaming, in response to what I will now write. Thank you.

The Bible is most certainly against drunkenness. And when are you drunk? Doesn't it depend on the person? If being drunk might send you to Hell {and there are more than a few scriptures that suggest this, even when not taken out of context, mind you} I find it better to just avoid the stuff entirely, especially since my father was an alcoholic.

Jesus was CALLED a glutton and a winebibber- that did not make him one. The people who called him those things hated him {the Pharisees.} If somebody who hates you calls you something, does that make you what he or she called you? Also, Jesus did drink some wine, but the wine in those days was fermented from grapes so that the people could drink something that didn't go bad. It was also not nearly as strong- at least, not the "new wine." Oftentimes, the water was bitter or unclean. Making wine was sort of like salting meat- it was an old method of preserving nourishment.

In contrast, beer and wine today is make for drinking and {speaking generally} getting drunk. Don't believe me? Look at the product. "Doesn't fill you up." Why is that good? So you can drink more of it and get more drunk, I'm assuming. What other benefit is there for beer that doesn't fill you up? When food doesn't fill you up, you tend to eat more, right?

I don't really know, I could be wrong. All I know is that for ME to drink a beer would be wrong. I don't feel like I'm denying myself some great fun, or that my life is torture because I believe what I do. I don't think people should force themselves not to do something, using only their own strength. I think when Jesus is really with you, he just makes you not want to do things that could be bad for you. Oh, and I don't believe that every single internal thought is a sin, or that playing outside on Sunday is evil. You should try to avoid work that can wait a day, though, I think.

Alright, I'm ready to be toasted.
