Traveling Alone?
Posted: 9/18/2009 3:12:19 PM
I'm off to New Zealand for four weeks on my own, would have loved to share that with someone, but being on my own isn't going to stop me!

Do you like your partner's intelligence to match yours?
Posted: 11/14/2008 11:51:23 AM
I have to say I prefer my partners to be smart. That doesn't necessarily mean the have to have a great knowledge of everything under the sun, but an open mind and keen intellect is very attractive to me. That said I do tend to gravitate towards the smarter girls, a Doctor, a Lawyer, an Accountant, a Microbiologist and an Artist amongst them! ...and they would all probably give me a slap for calling them girls.

Travelling Experiences
Posted: 8/8/2007 11:28:33 AM
Just because you travel on your own, doesn't mean you have to be on your own, I went to Japan and had a great time and met some fantastic and funny people. Highlight was me running after a group of Japanese business men at two in the morning with then screaming "Godzilla!!" We all had a good laugh and lots to drink.

First Meet - Unattractive etc
Posted: 8/8/2007 11:21:24 AM
I can see past most physical shortfalls, after all no-ones perfect no matter how much they may think so, and I'm certainly not. The only thing that would, and has made me run was a complete self centered, selfish or bigoted person.

Luckily I've not dated any women with bad hygiene......yet.

Working Away From Home
Posted: 8/6/2007 4:04:35 AM
Well, I usually get year long contracts, and they tend to be abroad so I usually put that I'm in a different country. Anything under a year I usually put that in in so-and-so until whenever, but that I will be back. But if I met the right girl then I would probably revert to UK contracts only, but thats a whole other issue!

In short, be honest. After all, if you are looking to start a relationship with someone, deception from the offset is probably not a good idea.

Old wive's tales
Posted: 7/2/2006 1:39:47 PM
Geordiegirl

I think the original findings of a trial concluded that regular consumption of local honey can desencitise a person in 25% of cases. In short, if you're lucky it may help a little, but probably not until next year!

The top 11 simple measures to combat hay fever!

1. Remain indoors when pollen levels peak and when the grass in being cut.

2. Take antihistamines starting two weeks before the pollen season starts.

3. Apply a little Vaseline to the lower nostrils to protect and trap pollen grains from entering the upper nose.

4. Wash or douche the nasal passages with a dilute salt water solution or use commercial saline sprays available from all chemists (Sterimar).

5. When travelling, make sure the car windows are closed and switch on the air con which will filter out pollen grains.

6. Wear protective "wrap around" sunglasses to prevent allergic eyes.

7. Keep the bedroom windows closed during the day to keep pollen grains out.

8. Rather tumble dry washing and do not hang washing outdoors during the day (it acts as a pollen trap).

9. Shower and wash your hair in the evening as soon as you return home from work or college to remove all pollen.

10. Change into fresh clothes as soon as you return home from work (pollen will have become trapped in your clothes).

11. Consider taking a teaspoonful of local honey everyday starting a few months before the pollen season starts - this may act as a form of oral desensitisation (the honey will have been contaminated with pollen)

What`s the most romantic thing you`ve done on valentines day
Posted: 2/2/2006 8:45:20 AM
Took the friday off, got a friend of my girlfriends to pack a weekend bag for her, went up into town to see her at work with a dozen roses, took her off to heathrow where we flew to Paris. Checked into the Hilton, in a penthouse suite overlooking the Eiffel Tower....

...and she complained because the marble floor in the bathroom was cold.

There is just no pleasing some people. I am a bit of a romantic at heart really.

Ex-Pat?Ever Been One?
Posted: 1/8/2006 2:32:46 AM
Ex-Pat? I am one at the moment!

In the last four years i've been..

Madrid, Spain.
Chennai, India.
Aberdeen, Scotland (Yes, I count that one)
And now Stavanger, Norway.

You get to see loads, but it's lonely, women are not interested in someone who is going to dissapear in a year or six months time. Hense I'm staying in Surrey from June and only taking on contracts abroad if they are 3months or less. Only 5 months to go!

Where were you when the world stopped turning?
Posted: 1/7/2006 2:35:29 AM
Assassination of JFK - Not born!

Berlin Wall - In a pub in Richmond.

Live Aid - Can't remember, probably at home, I was young.

Death of Diana - Asleep, woken by a call from a friend telling me to switch on TV.

911 - In a plane on the way back from Madrid, we were not allowed to land for four hours, nobody would say what was going on.

Personal World stopping event - My ex told me she has miscarried, on my 20th birthday, then told me it probably wasn't mine anyway. Ouch.

Would you step in???
Posted: 11/28/2005 3:37:07 PM
I've done it twice now..

1st When I was 18, I went to the aid of a policewoman who was being attacked by two guys, everybody just seemed to be looking on and doing nothing. I was joined by a couple of other guys after a few seconds. Glad I went to her aid, but wasn't very happy that the police had to take me into the station just in case the thugs wanted to press assult charges! They didn't.

2nd When I was about 27, went to the aid of a barmaid in my local who was about to be hit with a barstool, this time, after the other bar staff had him restrained, I didn't wait around for the police. Luckilly the bar staff knew me, but swore to the police they didn't. Again, happy to help someone in need, tell the truth I don't even think sitting by and ignoring it would have ever been an option.

Motorhead at the Guildford Civic Hall when they retook the "Loudest Gig" world record, I made the mistake of standing in front of the stacks! Couldn't hear for four days, I thought they had done permanent damage at the time, but all's well in the end.

Posted: 11/8/2005 10:49:37 AM
Ultimately it poses the question, "What would you be willing to give up for someone you love?" Would you have done what Donnie Darko did?

Alternatively it explores the possibility of parallel universes...

...or maybe the script writer was on acid?

Strange, but a great film.

MP3 Players

Depends on quality of the rip, I would guess at average quality and an average of say 3.30min songs, probably about 150 -250 songs, but don't hold me to that. The blurb you read says 345 songs, but that is probably low quality wma/mp3. Look it up on Amazon, or the creative site, it should give you more info then I can supply.

Zen Nano by Creative are very good, better sound quality than ipods, a 512Mb one will cost about £60 on amazon, maybe less if you shop around. Bought my nephew (9) one for his birthday and he's very happy with it.
