If being fed up with men is all it took, there wouldn't be a straight woman in the world.

Call Girls Vs Strippers?? What do you believe?

I think it is very possible that he just had a strip show. Unlikely, but possible.

To me, the real question is: Why are you snooping through his bills?

sleeping around on vacation...
Posted: 12/4/2008 9:45:16 PM
I would say that the person that does not cheat is the exception.

Anyone that has ever worked in the vacation industry could tell you stories all day long that you would never believe.

People on vacation do the things that they can't do or are too embarassed to do at home in front of their families and friends.

The whole "what happens in _____ stays in ______ " is definitely true.

To be blunt, you can get away with being a slut (non gender specific) and many take advantage of that.

Sexual needs and escorts
Posted: 11/23/2008 3:33:16 PM
One could argue that seeing escorts isn't really cheating.

And yes I concede that women cheat too, but this thread isn't about cheating, men and women being equally immoral, porn addiction or blaming a man for turning you into a fat burnout.

Sex is just sex. Generally speaking, women do not pay for it.

North Americans, or "Western" civilizations if you prefer, have to be the most closed minded, and short sighted about the whole thing.

Get over it.

Guys like to have sex with new women. Face the facts...the older you get, the less likely you are of pulling in some hot 20 year old unless:

a) you are loaded
b) she has daddy issues

and who needs that?

Men also have the wonderful ability to separate sex from love.

The world would be such a better place if women would just accept that men will cheat. It doesn't mean that we don't love you.

I have no problem with escorts or the people that use them. I never have yet but I am sure that one day I will.

Santorini (Greece) is my next option. Any thoughts?
Posted: 1/16/2008 5:54:22 PM
I agree with everything above.

There are also some black sand beaches in Santorini. Too hot to walk on. You can rent ATV's and go wherever you want.

Another island worth seeing is Rhodes, if you have time.

Egypt cruise anyone?
Posted: 1/16/2008 5:51:21 PM
Been there. Where the ship docks is a little hell hole called Alexandria. Quite possibly the worst place on the planet. The Pyramids are about 2 1/2 hours away. Once there you will get harassed like you could never imagine to buy overpriced or "free" trinkets. Camel rides for $5, a picture with a camel for $1 etc...

They really rush you around the pyramids too. You make 3 stops of about 20 to 30 minutes each.

It's worth seeing but its a tough day. I was completely worn out. The bus ride back to the ship had a lot of sleepers on it.

Waikiki beach was a lot smaller and a lot more crowded than I thought it would be.

Now, if you want to do something a little different...try skydiving.

I went to this place on the north shore, and it is easily the most amazing thing I've ever done. The best scenery too. North shore of Oahu from 13 000 feet.

Cruises
Posted: 4/28/2007 12:49:30 PM
Don't worry too much about your safety on a ship. Right now it is just very popular in the media to bash cruise lines.

There are always at least 3 qualified captains on at all times. The ships are inspected by the US Coast guard at least every 6 months. If there is a Norwalk outbreak, the CDC gets involved and they are very strict with the sanitation guidelines. The truth is, the passengers are the ones that bring Norwalk on the ship. You don't get it from the ship itself.

USPH (United States Public Health) inspectors inspect the galleys all the time. The standard that a cruise ship is held to is at least on par, and probably a higher standard than a hotel/restaurant is on land. In North America I should add.

People eat off the ship in these little islands that have live chickens running around everywhere, or in Mexico for example where they have no health standards, and sometimes they get sick. If you have anything that resembles Norwalk, you will be quarantined to your cabin, and if you refuse, you will be disembarked.

Believe me, I've been on ships for a couple of years now, and there is no way that you can just "fall off." People get drunk, and people get stupid.

Another thing you have to remember is that once you leave the USA, things change. Laws, civil rights, all that wonderful stuff, is not the same in other countries. Ships are usually registered in foreign countries, like the Bahamas, Panama, etc... and once you are in International waters, its a different ball game.

However, that being said, a lot of companies do have a policy to notify the FBI of any situation regardless of where it happens. They are not required to, and certainly some cruise lines do not.

There are some inherent risks to cruising. You are on a boat, you are in the ocean, you are travelling to foreign countries, and of course on occasion, accidents do happen.

When you hear of some drunken idiot jumping overboard, or a ship running aground and ultimately sinking, just think of how many cruise ships are out there everyday. Hundreds or more.

It's very unlikely that anything will happen to you. Go have fun.

Female driving from Canada to Cancun - am I crazy??
Posted: 3/5/2007 2:10:44 PM
I think it is a bad idea all around.

I kind of agree with the aforementioned stereotype. Girls in resorts, or on vacation (in general) are free to behave in a way that they never would at home, and many do exactly that.

I've wroked in the tourism industry, I've seen it and experienced it firsthand.

Count your blessings. Ship doctor's are well...ship doctors.

A buddy of mine had his appendix blow up and spent a few weeks in the hospital in the Bahamas.

Assuming that you are looking for work in the spa, the company that hires RMT's and beauticians...whatever, is called Steiner.

http://www.str.co.uk/us_canada_form.asp

They also have a training environment where they simulate living conditions onboard a ship. They are based out of London, England and I am pretty sure you will have to fly there once the ball gets rolling.

If you are interested in another line of work, there are two companies that I know of that recruit for cruise ships. They are free (there are a million scam sites out there)

One is www.cruisedreamjob.com that is Ontario based. They did have a west coast affiliate in Vancouver but I can't remember what it was called.

They hire mostly for Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Cunard. All that info is one their site.

Another one is www.pmcmarine.com ,they are based in Vancouver.
PMC hires for Princess and Holland America (among others).

Both these companies do travel now and then.

Steiner hires you independently and you could end up on any cruise line because they run the spa's everywhere that I've ever heard of.

Hope this helps you out, and if you do get a job, and I do see you, I will probably expect sex.

Just kidding. Good luck, and feel free to ask me anything else you are wondering. I've been at it for 2 years now. Beats the snow.

Your experience in Nassau is all too typical. It is not a nice place. One good thing about taking a cruise is that you can get a feel for a place you might like to spend more time at someday.

On the flipside, you know where you'll never go back to as well.

The Bahamas sounds great when you've never been there.

If you caught an "intestinal bug" on a cruise ship, you are very lucky you weren't quarantined in your cabin for 3 days. On most cruise lines you would have been.

Mexican vacation yes or no?
Posted: 2/8/2007 4:32:58 PM
I see it all the time too. I know some Americans buy Canadian disguises as well, I just don't think it makes a whole lot of difference.

Is a terrorist going to let you off the plane because you aren't an American?

Is a flag on your backpack going to make someone not rob you?

I know violence happens everywhere, but this is not some whack job murdering prostitutes. There is a renegade militia attacking government offices, decapitating police officers and leaving their heads along with threatening letters in front of government buildings.

Jail guards and judges being murdered, tourists getting killed or wounded by stray bullets.

Acapulco is a big mess right now, its just not safe to visit. I am sure most Mexican people are good natured, and hard working, and trust me I am the last guy that is afraid to do anything or go anywhere, but I would never go anywhere near the south western coast of Mexico for a vacation.

Maybe Cancun and Cozumel are ok, but if you just want to hit a resort or lie on the beach somewhere, there are a million better options, in my opinion.

and then yesterday "Attackers kill 7 in Acapulco: More than a dozen armed assailants staged and videotaped simultaneous attacks against two offices of the state attorney general in Acapulco, Mexico, on Tuesday, killing at least seven people in this Pacific resort plagued by drug violence."

I was just there on Sunday.

I think that what we are really advertizing is that we are not American. It is a common misperception that anyone distinguishes between us in other countries.

Murders and violence do happen everywhere.

Aruba, for example is one of the nicest islands in the Caribbean, but had a really bad rap for a long time because of the Natalie Holloway case. The same thing happened in Bermuda with a Canadian girl, Rebecca Middleton, in the mid 90's.

Both cases are tragic, obviously, but how many people were murdered in Detroit, Toronto....Los Angeles...wherever on the same day.

I didn't mean to suggest that Mexico is a dangerous place, I've never felt unsafe there. Well, maybe in a cab in Acapulco...

The fact is though, if you are white, or obviously a tourist, in any touristy place, you will get swarmed and constantly harassed, or followed everywhere you go. I understand that this is how a lot of people make their living in Mexico, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

To get from the Cruise terminal to the main street in Acapulco, which we called "running the gauntlet" you have many obstacles.

1) red Cross lady asking for donations at the door.

2) cab drivers run at you offering:
a) a cab
b) hookers (male and female)
c) drugs

3) the kids with chiclets, and all the people selling crafts.

So you finally do make it to the street, and cabs will pull up along side and continue harassing you.

Then no matter where you are, or what you are doing, you ALWAYS have to argue and haggle over price. Everywhere you go, stores, restaurants, cabs, bars..all try to overcharge you.

And try to get some USD change anywhere. Almost every place will give you Pesos as change, even if they have 3 cruise ships and 8000 Americans per day spending USD.

There are other places I wouldn't ever go on vacation as well, I don't mean to dump on Mexico specifically. I did 2 years of Mexican Riviera cruises and I've just had enough of it.

There are definitely some nice places and friendly people.

I would do a Southern Caribbean or Eastern Caribbean cruise.

Western Caribbean is nowhere near as developed in most places.

Cozumel is alright, but whoever said to avoid Nassau has obviously been there before.

I don't get the horn honking thing either...

If you want a nice cruise, wait until May or June and hit Bermuda.

30 year old men - why are they not self reliant and responsible??
Posted: 12/31/2006 3:38:54 PM
Dr. Phil just tells the people that watch his show what they want to hear. He's getting rich off of stupid people...good for him.

Trust me, I figured it out a while ago, but...I did walk around for a couple of years believeing all the BS I had been told by counsellors. I was convinced that I was to blame for the breakup. If only I had done _____, it wouldn't have happened.

If only I wasn't ______, it wouldn't have happened. It took me years to get over.

I'll tell you about the day I figured the whole thing out.

I was sitting in my apartment one summer afternoon, and my ex called me up and said she wanted to meet me to talk. So, I said alright, went and met her in a park where we sat down for a few minutes. She told me she was sorry for acting the way she did, and that she felt bad about how immature she had been at times, how I had deserved better from her...I'm sure you know the drill.

Then we chatted a bit, and eventually went our separate ways. On the way back home, I decided to stop off at a bar and have a beer.

I was sitting there, confused about what had just happened, and I finally realized the whole meeting was just her way of easing her guilt. It had nothing to do with me at all. She was just trying to make herself feel better.

I also figured out that all the counselling sessions were also a complete waste of time. Her mind was made up before they ever started. She just needed to make herself feel better about wanting out of the relationship. She wanted to be able to tell herself she did all that she could before giving up. So, I wasted more money, time and effort for a lost cause.

I also had the privelege of walking around like a shattered zombie for the better part of two years, but you know, I am happy that her manipulating me made it easier for her, because that was always the most important thing anyway.

Incredibly, when we did split up, I discovered how many items in the apartment were really "hers". She didn't even leave me one fork because "they are in a set"

But, like I wrote earlier, things are going very well for me right now. It was hard to see it at the time, but her leaving me was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I was miserable, and didn't even realize it.

Sometimes I feel like e-mailing her, or calling her, just to let her know that I have figured out her game, but there is no point anymore.

I'm, that much wiser for next time.

I must echo the "living well is the best revenge." statements.

Or seeing your ex live with the choices she made can feel pretty good too.

"I guess things didn't work out so well with the weed smoking dishwasher that you went to Africa with to build a village so you could validate your existance?

That's really too bad!"

I completely agree. I would recommend that any guy that has had enough of the bs and the game, travel, take a job in a different country.

I worked in an environment that had around 60 countries represented among its' staff. People from all over the world. Men, and women. I have also travelled extensively.

Let me assure you, us "Western" men are the only ones that care what women think, let alone how they FEEL about anything.

The man is the boss, no question. And you want to know the best part? These "Western" women can't line up fast enough to be treated the way Mediterranean/South American/Eastern European men treat them.

They LOVE it.

It's quite an eye opener. I have dated one South American woman, and one Eastern European woman and the difference between them and the girls I dated at home is mind boggling. For one, they appreciate men. Foreign concept....I know.

None of the BS at all. Trust me, after being through what I've been through, I'd have to say that 95% (because I hold a faint glimmer of hope) of "Western" women are incapable of being good wives/girlfriends.

They just don't have it in them.

Most of my life I have been jumping through hoops, and running around in circles trying to please whatever woman I happened to be with, and no matter what I did, it was never enough, or it wasn't right, or the bar had been raised, and I needed to give more, do more, be more.

I've done the couples counselling, I've been told that as a man, I am not wired properly, I need to change to be able to have a relationship with a woman. I will never be happy, all the same issues will arise in every relationship I have in the future.

I walked around for years believing this. Then one day, I woke up.

It's not me.

I've never been happier.

I think I'll throw in my $0.02 here.

Being in my 30's, I think the 1st thing is that 30 isn't the milestone it used to be. Not for men anyway.

Life is expensive. Even if you do all the things you are supposed to do, (school, etc) you graduate with a big debt, never get a job that pays what you want it to. Then factor in a car, insurance, gas, bills, rent/mortgage...what would an average guy have to earn to live comfortably? $40 K +? Likely more.

Lots of those jobs around.

I've had times in my life where I had lots of disposable income, did what I wanted when I wanted, never worried about money, then other times where I was lucky to make ends meet every month, or had to take cash advances on my credit card. Our generation doesn't have the luxury of stability.

Some get caught in a debt trap. Especially those lucky enough to be divorced and making child support payments.

I'm 35, never been married, no kids, have a good job and owe nothing to anyone. I've been through 2 failed LTR's and honestly, I like my life now.

I'm in no hurry to find a woman, especially with all the expectations they have and the BS games you have to play to get one. I've been there, I've done that, it wasn't so great.

I think a lot of your 30 year old boys are a lot like I am. We've already played the game, and after recovering from it, we aren't in any particular hurry to do it again.

Why should we?

Us guys in North America have been raised to be pussies. That's why there are so many failed marriages, and so many single women that are miserable and still looking for the perfect man.

I think North American women have priced themselves out of the market, and a lot of us are tired of your BS.

Maybe what we are seeing here is a market correction.
