Do you believe in Astrology?
Posted:
7/1/2009 3:57:39 PM
Heh, if only those con men who suckered ancient kings would know people were still buying it now!
Chalk it up under the heading of "hippy crap" for me.
In those days they werent seen as con men at all. Astrology and astronomy underpinned life particularly in renaissance europe. It was all about interpreting Gods universe and his plan. Its how people in that time period thought about life, its links and resemblances
Dont forget in those days, there was no science, it was 'natural philosophy', with the need to understand the universe.
If anything astrology was seen as an 'interpretive science'.
A couple of really good books I'd recommend for anyone wanting to learn more about renaissance astrology and human thought are:
Thomas, K. Religion and the decline of magic. Studies in popular beliefs in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century England. Penguin books. 1991.
and Michel Foucaults book 'The order of things'
bloody brilliant the pair of them.

Do you believe in Astrology?
Posted:
7/1/2009 3:39:52 PM
Having done a search for astrology threads, of which there were billions, I thought I'd post in this as I tried to post in the most recent one but my post didnt show up??
So really..
Just wondering if any of you guys could help me out?
I'm doing 16/17thC astrology for my MSc thesis and would love to be able to place a birth chart in my work with its relevent discussion.
Would anyone be prepared to make me a birth chart? I'm not offering any money for this but I will acknowledge/cite you in my work for your contribution.
Also if anyone would like to PM me their thoughts and feelings on astrology and the role it plays in their lives, that too would be really useful.
Actually I would love to know how astrology is seen today by real people that believe in it. This would be a great contribution to my renaissance period work.
Also if anyone would like to read what I have written so far they are welcome to do so (Its not finished though, 1/4 done)
Please PM me if you would like to help, and my birth details are: born 6th July 1973 at 6.59pm in Welwyn Garden City, Herts. UK
edit to add: I dont believe in astrology but I am widly fascinated by it.
Thanks.
Also can I ask you to cast your votes in my very short poll? Will take no more than 20 seconds!

Thanks again :)

If you are a smoker.
Posted:

I am a smoker, my boyfriend isnt.
I asked him if he thinks I smoke too much or if he finds it yukky. He said he thought he would do, but he accepts it as one of my pleasures and if you love someone then you accept them wholly, and actually finds it quite erotic watching me smoke. He says. Although I am conscious of not smoking too many cigs when I am with him.

Christ I havent heard my hamsters running around in her wheel tonight, I ought to check in case she's hanging from the curtain post or something. Best check on my fishies too incase they've tried to drown themselves. Although I know my cat is alright, she's snoozing on my bed. The lazy arsed bugger.

Do you have what it takes to answer this question?
Posted:

For starters, a 'graviton' particle has NOT YET been demonstrated to exist.
The way Einstein pictured gravity is like putting a heavy ball onto a rubber sheet - gravity is a deformation of space. Like riding a bicycle into a valley, you gain speed as you go down the slope. Most bodies have gentle slopes, so attraction is relatively light. But a black hole would be like trying to cycle down a mountain.
Sounds like someones watched Einstein & Eddington :D

why do men wear nappys
Posted:
12/11/2008 4:28:08 AM
I am going to try and say this without disrespecting what you believe to be ok!
Anything I have ever seen on this subject is the same story each time..yes they might need to feel safe , but the end result is the same all the time!!
"little billy" ends up with "mommy" giving him a ham shank or the next bit you see is "mommy" in the cot with "billy" riding him all the way home !!!!
its sex ..its fetish ..these geezers who call you (seriously) your saying they havent get their muddy paws wrapped around their fella !!!!
Feeling safe and secure??? pathetic , get a grip .. we all have moments of weakness , I had one the other day ... I didnt put a fricking pampers on and latch onto my neighbours tit for half hour!
I am not as open minded as I thought I was ... in my mind ..up to the individual ..but all this poor liitle baby needs to feel safe and secure
poor big baby needs to cum !!!!!
Hang on a sec, did I give the impression that I dont know what theyre doing with their****?
I know exactly what they are doing, and quite frankly I dont care. So why is it me that needs to get a grip? Interesting how you attack my post, yet the leave alone the guy who openly admits to being an adult baby? Thats a bit back to front. But its easy to see why fetishes are kept so hidden and taboo - we have people like you around driving it further and further underground. For all you know your kids class teacher might have a secret fetish such as this, or your landlord/mortgage broker/doctor/dentist/partner. You'd never know.

why do men wear nappys
Posted:
12/11/2008 1:08:56 AM
Ok... allow me to clear a few things up. I have actually looked this up on the web.
There are many reasons why guys wear nappys and enjoy it. One of the reasons relates to bedwetting til teenage years, some maybe further. It's something to do with the soft, moist feeling around the genetalia, hence women do it aswell. because it is being worn through the night in the comfort of your bed when you are more relaxed. This can cause a secure feeling and can cause arousal.
There are lots of others who do do it for the feeling of regression... not to sure about why though...
The above that i explained though is true... i know, im a closet wearer!
It's not so much a regression thing with me and i dont fully understand why, but it turns me on hense the research. i only do it on occasions and i don't crap in them, thats just too wierd
What a very honest answer. :)
I have a few adult babies phone me up for phone 'mommy'ing'. And like you they are perfectly normal but like the feeling of being safe and secure.
Its all harmless in my book

i think in the future you will need a masters to get on
I am chartered in my profession but would now need a masters to become chartered where in the past all that was required was a suitable degree and I have come across other professional registrations that have the same requirement.
Maybe in 5 years or so you will end up competing for the next job and find that the masters is just next tick in the box to keep yourself competitive in the job market.
Its been a wake call for me
P.S intersting provider referance you made in another post
Yes I agree - had I still worked in a lab then I would need a medical masters to even get promoted to senior scientist! It would have had to have been in pathology something else cellular based.
But this one is for my interests, its still science based and with a nice fat chunck of histroy of science thrown in too. Well, to give it its full title science, communication and society. So also a lot of science writing/journalism thrown in too.
ps - couldnt get any funding so had to.
The good thing is the lecturers have said about us applying for funding for the pHD places next year also, so if Im lucky I'll get a place. But who knows.

^^^^ i have applied for children's nursing maybe its so i can sing 1,2,3,4,5 once i caught a fish alive, and read the night garden to them in my spare time while nursing
i know a few people who have had to take them and they have said they are only basic test to make sure you can add up and read write etc so fingers crossed there are no algebra questions or else im scuppered
heheh and can you sing it all the way through?
If its only a basic test I would prob grab one of those revision booklets from whsmiths then, or a book on grammar etc
lets us knowhow it goes :)

this is nothing to do with the o.p but i couldnt be bothered to start up a whole new post to ask my question hehe,
HAS ANYONE ON HERE BEEN FOR A UNIVERSITY INTERVIEW AND HAD TO TAKE THE MATHS AND ENGLISH TESTS??
if you have can you tell me if there is a web site i can look at to know what to expect or give advice please, my maths is terrible but my English is ok but will need to have a practice at both really if i can
blimey how come you have to do a test? I've never heard of this being done. What course have you applied for?
I dont know of any websites that you get you to university standard, but there are some excellent books out there that talk about studying at uni, also about spelling/grammar/maths etc etc and how to go about doing your research/gathering evidence and applying your knowledge.
Anyway, for me. I needed to have my degree to do my job. I did biomedcine part time and worked full time in a lab, graduated, finished my training and got state registered and can use a protected title.
Just finished my first semester of my masters degree. I dont *need* a masters, but I jolly well want one. And its so very different to undergrad studies, I've really had to up my game now.

Ive never worked in a supermarket though - maybe I should pay more attention to the Sainsburys men in future.

Why dont you just talk about other stuff then? Its not difficult to have a laugh and get to know someone by just talking about normal stuff. Theres nothing wrong with a bit of saucy talk, but my feeling is thats you may have led him on a bit and now you're getting nervous!
So I would just say just talk about something else for a while, and not jump into sex talk so quickly. Or, just be honest and up front and say you rather like him and you're not thinking about sex as the be all and end all, and certainly not on a first date etc

God damn anyone who nabs our local chippy (which is 1 min away from our local school).
I have to say, when my lad goes to big school next year he will be having a nice hot lunch everyday. That school has the healthy eating badge (thingy) and ALL children have free school meals, no matter what. I think thats a great idea, and glad its not something thats just given to doley kids.

Josh Groban - A collection
Posted:
12/7/2008 12:02:21 PM
Having found out that Amazon are doing MP3 albums for 3 quid I rushed over there and listened to a few samples of tracks.
One artist I came across for the first time is Josh Groban, American born singer.
Oh my Lord I instantly fell in love with his voice and have been playing his album to death all week.
He's been going for a number of years now, but I only found him this week - and I am so impressed.

Cover versions that ruin the original - Are the original artists really that hard up?
Posted:
12/7/2008 11:57:22 AM
Its easy to see why original artists allow samples or their tracks to be re-recorded - royalities from sales and of course their musical profile is highlighted. Not forgetting a lot of A grade artists are tightly controlled by their management and often have little say in what happens, even how their musical style is dictated.
Having said that, there are a few atrocious copies around, conversly there are some excellent ones.

Lol I've never been called one of those before but knock yourself out.
(anyway thanks Dan for keeping my anonimity, but yes I sent him the message [he is hawt afterall].)
But as I've metioned before this is something I do, and I dont do it for sexy fun times, I do it because the pay is phenomenal and indeed its just paid for my MSc fees - all 3.5k of it.
Does it make me disgusting or a whore? Who knows and really who cares? Not I thats for sure.

http://www.saynoto0870.com/
Pop in that IR number and it will give you an alternative, either a free number or a local number!
edit/this is the alternativer number to the 0845 number above - 01582 706907 or you can use 0191 2037178
These are our pennies!! Lets look after them xx
eidt/but you dont even need to phone anywhere, you can just print off the form, fill it in and send it off. Thats all I did.

yup Ive done mine, and got back 599 a few weeks back :)
but dont bother going through this so called agencies that claim to get it back for you, you can download the form straight from the tax website and send that in.
in fact the best thing to do is to go on the moneysavingexpert website and search for it on there, theres loads of posts telling you where the forms are and how to claim. it literally is a 5 minute job.

Haha racer Matt - I know exactly what you meant my dear!!
Also who's 'about me' has been capitalised?
(Did you mean me? with this? - I totally adore music and my faves are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Killswitch Engage, Cradle of Filth, Kid Rock, Black Sabbath, The Delays, Megadeth, Muse, Avenged Sevenfold, QotSA, ZZ Top, AC/DC, GnR, Velvet Revolver..and so many more. The louder, the better...You just cannot beat a hard and fast riff!!)
Names (of towns, bands etc) are always started with a capital letter, it's just basic grammar. Plus QotSA is a well known shortened version of Queens of the Stone Age.
Well then Holeinthewall, we'll call it something else ahaha
But you know, I must emphasise it isnt allways about sex, for instance I spoke to someone last night for just under an hour and as we're both big into history. This is what we talked about, he told me about his trip to Gettysburg and I told him my passion for 18c scienctific displays.

haha racer matt you're a cheeky one! A deal might be considered ;) haha
In all fairness I do have some 'special offers' as I like to call them haha some of my regs buy me something from my amazon wishlist, and I'll call them up for free for say 20-30 mins or cam for them etc. Its all about looking after your customers. I do this in my day job in medical sales, so I'll naturally do it to my adult callers also.
crikey, had a guy on the phone just now for nearly an hour, we talked about history. And our favourite historical eras see its not always about gettings ones rocks off at all.

Oh god I would put the phone straight down.
And certainly the company I work for are extremely strict on that sort of thing. We check ages, and any hint of anything illegal we hang up, do 1471 to get 'their' code number and we report them to the company who deal with stuff like this.
But I'm glad to say I havent had any illegal stuff come in on a call, most of the time they just want a female to talk to while their tugging one off. Conversely I've had calls about travel topics, music interests and have also councilled a man who was a bit on the shy side with his girlfriend. Likewise I have also been spanked down the phone, whilst I am laying there playing with whatever - which is utter rubbish because I'm usually sat at the pc studying, in my PJs. But hey we all know its BS, and the callers know its BS also.
But this sort of work has really opened up my eyes to the kind of men who are out there, and some of their more 'interesting' ...well..interests really.
I have to say though, how the hell I stifle my laughter I do not know. Unless of course they have specifically asked for laughter/humiliation then I sit there rip it out of them and laugh my head off.
Well, too bloody right, do you know how much masters degrees are these days? Anyway I've paid that now, so this is just extra on my normal wages. Some of my study books are bloody expensive.

Lego! And lots of it! Star Wars lego is on my sons list this year.
Pricey but he'll play with it everyday and get huge enjoyment out of it (he's 10)

I've been doing it for about 4 weeks now. I decided it would be the quickest and easiest way to finish paying for my masters degree. (I tried hard for post grad funding but couldnt get any).
I started off just doing phone chat, then found there were a lot of men who wanted to see a more curvy lady on cam, so I started doing a bit of that too.
I tend to mostly stick to phone calls though, especially ones that are as a mistress, whilst in real life I am not a dominant b1tch type of person, my telephone persona would whip you to bits. And so I've built up a few regulars, and some of them are very nice individuals.
Sometimes we talk about regular stuff, and it comes as no suprise that women who do phone work are stereotypically seen as being a prositute. So imagine their surprise when they learn that Im a professionally qualified scientist and Im doing a masters.
But I dont log on everyday to do it, only when I can be bothered or Im not doing my normal dayjob or studying.
Its a bit of something different and it pays really well. So I'm fine with it.

haha most guys are pervs. They call my personal chat number and prove it most days. Not just pervs, but downright odd. I'm so glad I'm single, I'm saving myself a right load of grief for sure.

haha I see a few whiggish historians are out in force!
Imagine that we could engage in a discourse with a well-educated Christian of the 15th century. He would prove to be ignorant except on matters of faith. His beliefs about science would even embarrass a child, but he would know more or less everything about his faith
I'm sure the natural philosophers of the 15th century would be rather disappointed with todays science and society.
And indeed his beliefs on science and religion have to be looked at for what they were in HIS day, we are not to view their thinking by our standards of TODAY. What was acceptable to them? their standards and their way of thinking? To judge our modern day standards is whiggish history and extremely poor show.
Me? I'd loved to have been about in the 18century. Only as an 'English gentleman'** though, not as a female. And I would have had the sexiest cabinet of curiosity ever!
**Anyone who's read up on 18thC natural philosophy will know exactly what I mean here.
But has anyone here actually read Darwins On the Origins of Species? Its a surprisingly easy book to read, and funny as hell in places. Chapter 4 where he goes on about purple plums and yellow plums had me in stitches.
