this stinks

Oh ya ... it was useful alright ... for the guys who wanted to show us their "tools".

never ever did I experience that here.

the facts remain that a lot of users used the feature with success and would like (a better version of) it to return and that without IM the site is less functional and useful.

and admin it would still be helpful for you to either send out a note or make a notice on the front page. your users would like to know what's going on.

Does it count as an increase in traffic, admin, if I was back and forth here today trying to have a conversation through email over the course of four hours that could have been conducted in a half hour of IM?

Vegan/Vegetarian topic

and I grew up on a farm and support the lifestyle too ;-)

I'm not vegan... I just don't eat meat. I understand that there would probably be more ethical issues for one who chooses to be vegan. I just wanted to point out that you just might not have such differing points of view with all people who don't eat meat.

looking for new IM

This is a free site.

WE might not be paying for this site but it's hardly a hardship for a successful business like pof to do something to make the site more userfriendly. With success comes growth and improvement.

Userplane only worked 33% of the time anyway. I'm asking for an investment in the site's performance to still maintain functionality and have access to (a better) IM as it was a welcome feature.

I wouldn't immediately rule out dating a woman, just because she was a vegan.
But, to be totally honest, I really can't envision myself dating, or having a relationship with, a vegan.

It's not only about diet. It's about total lifestyle, and vastly differing points of view.

lone hawk, you might not have such vastly different points of view.
I'm a person that just doesn't eat meat. *shrug* If you want to, enjoy!
The only thing you will miss out by dating me is eating off the same plate.

a notice perhaps?

admin, it was a useful tool. I don't know the ins and outs of making a site run "effectively" but I would think the investment could be made considering the site's success, no? Limiting communication to the site (and IM) till you know someone better is vastly superior than giving out your contact details to Tom****and Harry.

If you really don't wish to do so perhaps a notice on the front page would be in order. The vast majority of your users don't come to the forums and are wondering why they can't IM.

Are we a tad spoiled by POF and a bit ungrateful for its services?

Does anyone really get excited by recieving these? It just seems odd, if they do. I guess I think of it as a bit high schoolish, myself.

I didn't want that teddy bear in Grade 8 let alone a pretend one in my 30's! lol sorry Marcus!

I'm not sure why I would pay for something that doesn't give me any increased functionality. As mathematically daunting as I am sure it is to slog through all that data, the current matching system is of little use to me. Finding someone here is a little like finding a needle in a haystack. Paying for more detailed specific search results or a better IM system seems logical. Paying for the promise of getting more emails from even more people that are illsuited for you doesn't appeal.

In short, I would love it if I would stop being matched with Intimate Encounter profiles or men who are already done raising a family cheers

huuuuuuuuuuuge prince fan here! well... I like the music. The little purple freak has really gone over the edge in the past couple years. I would be interested in *cough* discussing bootlegs with other fishies though!

I've only seen the mf'er once so he had better keep performing.

New Feature: Men/Women Who Think You are Super Hot
Posted: 1/15/2009 11:46:35 AM

How good are the results on the new Women/Men Who think you are HOT page?

admin... I'm not sure why I get results for both the "my matches" and this new feature that include men who are not interested in having children. It would seem that it would be rather important for both groups to exclude each other from being matched!

I'm sure all the algorithms are complicated and I appreciate that you are working on making the site more successful. I would appreciate it that much more if I didn't have to point out to these men that we differ in this very fundamental way so often!
