The Next Republican Attempt at Fearmongering
Posted: 5/8/2009 6:31:22 AM

IMO, they're making a big mistake in thinking that 9/11 fearmongering is going to help them. People will not react warmly to this fear

Sadly, I don't think they're mistaken. 9/11 booga-booga-terra! Fearmongering has gotten us stuck in Iraq, gotten the unconstitutional Patriot Act rammed down our throats, etc.

The American Sheeple are stupid and cowardly. They've already proven this is a succesful formula.

Jesus was a Socialist
Posted: 5/8/2009 6:21:24 AM
Jesus advocated abstaining from any entanglements with the state. Socialism by definition requires a state, and further it requires the state to perform those acts which Jesus said we as private individuals should do. Hence, Jesus could not have been a socialist.

Military to Run UK Schools
Posted: 5/8/2009 6:13:18 AM

The Armed Forces will be drafted in to run state schools under plans to drive up discipline and respect in classrooms.
Ministers are in talks with defence chiefs about taking over a handful of schools and turning them into military academies.
Alongside daily lessons, pupils would be expected to take part in activities such as drills, uniformed parades, weapons handling and adventure training.
The first state schools set to gain 'military academy' status are understood to be based in Portsmouth and Colchester.
The controversial scheme will initially be in areas where there are a large number of military families, but is set to be rolled out across the country.

LOL!! If it happens so often, why can't you provide a link to one example??

Probably because it's so common it's not newsworthy. That type of desensitization was, I believe, the reason Snopes.com speculated for the lack of coverage regarding the heinous crime I mentioned earlier, was it not? Sounds reasonable enough to me.

You can't back up what you say, and you think blustering about it will cover up your inadequacy.

I can't "back up" that racially-motivated crimes sometimes happen to white people because I can't/won't bother to find you a link to an example? I don't know how things are where you live, but I think you will find few people in general who agree with your stated belief that racially-motivated crimes against white people just don't happen.

That said, Reginald Denny did pop into my mind, although I assume you'll claim that attack wasn't racially motivated, either, unless I find a link with a quote specifically saying it was, amirite?

To call me "blustering" because I'm unwilling to go searching for links for you looks silly, IMO. Further, to your apparent belief that something is not real or does not happen if you don't see an Internet link describing it is, IMO, of questionable reasoning and screams for someone to name a logical fallacy after it.

So...same crime, races reversed...do you think there would be a hate crime prosecution?

No

Wow. I'd bet money on it. No point in either of us arguing what may happen in a hypothetical, I was just curious what you thought...I think you hold a higher view of our justice system than it deserves.

Again you speak like an expert with nothing to back it up. Please post a link that shows such crimes have occurred.

OMFG...do you REALLY think white people don't get called "white motherfuckers," "whit b*tch" etc sometimes when being assaulted by minorities? Are you REALLY claiming such is not the case if I don't find you a link? Christ, I bet people here on these forums could relate stories...hell, I remember it happening in my friend's daughter's friggin elementary school. No, I don't have a link, ROFL.

Just to clarify, you're claiming that racially motivated crimes against white people do not happen unless I find a link...that's what you just said up there, right? Holy cow, man. Sometimes you have to acknowledge a counter-point, LOL.

"There is absolutely no proof of a hate crime," said John Gill, special counsel to Knox County District Atty. Randy Nichols. "We know from our investigation that the people charged in this case were friends with white people, socialized with white people, dated white people. So not only is there no evidence of any racial animus, there's evidence to the contrary."

I asked for a crime that was motivated by racial bigotry. As usual, you can't deliver

Did you read what went on? As one victim's father said, "you don't do such acts without hate."

I ask you again, had it been 2 black victims and 5 white perps do you think we'd see a hate crime prosecution? I do...I want to know what you think, as I think that hate crime laws are frequently applied to white-on-minority violence even when "there is absolutely no proof of a hate crime."

So...same crime, races reversed...do you think there would be a hate crime prosecution?

Unlike some people I do not feel my rights superceede this nations security.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin.

This is not the only point on which brainwashed neo-cons (notice I didn't say "conservatives," because they're NOT) disagree with the founding fathers of this nation, but I'm glad you at least admit to one instance of antagonism with them.

This country was NOT made great by a prevailing attitude of "safety first," but one of "liberty or death!" Remember that.

If you are a the victim of a crime and the perp is motivated by racial bigotry (ex if a white-hating Asian attacks you) then they will be charged with a hate crime.

Doesn't happen. I'm sure there are many white victims of violent crimes who can attest to being called "white mother****er," "white ****," etc during the commission of the crime. I'm sure you are aware such things occur. Find me 1 hate crime prosecution for it.

And I should believe you, a stranger on the internet, because why???

I don't care if you believe me or not, I'm stating an opinion and why I have it. But since it was easy to google:

Hate Crimes Proponents' Silence on Knoxville Rape, Torture and Murder Case is Deafening.

http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474977003815

(found by googling "knoxville rape torture" without the quotes...plenty more where that came from)

Further googling the victims' names will give you all sorts of gory details.

There is no hate crime prosecution pending. Had such brutality been performed on 2 black victims by 5 white men, do you think we'd see hate crime prosecutions? I do.

As the email quoted in the below linked snopes.com article asks, "Why hasn't the FBI been called in to investigate this as a hate crime? Oh that's right, the victims were white."

Strait.
White.
Second-Class Citizens.

EDIT: Here's some more info on the case:

Big brothers lack of ability in protecting our personal and private information will be a selling point when the time comes that some "expert" tells us that implantable RFID chips that contain all of our personal information

You're exactly right. Some folks are even calling this a "false flag," to make that very point. I say we turn the logic back on them..."if you couldn't keep the data secure before, why should we trust you to keep it secure again? You can't keep your own computers secure and now you want to inject me with your chip?"

So you think this 16 year old kid was a threat to America?

No matter how many planes they fly into buildings, no how many bombs they detonate, no matter how many they kill, no terrorist can kill the United States, what it stands for, or "our freedoms." Only our own politicians can do that, and they've been doing a very good job of it lately. Since the terrorists "hate our freedom" I guess that means the US politicians are "with the terrorists." They're giving the freedom-haters exactly what they want, no?

Hate crime bills make second-class citizens out of those of us who are not offered "protected" status. Somebody beats me half to death or kills me, and they get a lesser punishment than had they done it to someone who was a minority? How is that equal protection under the law?

edit:

Please note that there is no legal restrictions on who can be a victim of a hate crime. Everyone is covered.

When/where has there been a single hate-crime prosecution when the victim was heterosexual and white? There was an obviously racially-motivated double rape/torture/murder here in Knoxville a few years ago...no hate crime prosecution. I don't think it ever happens.

VA "Health" Database Hacked, $10m ransom demanded

The Virginia Prescription Monitoring Program has reportedly been compromised, with those responsible deleting records and now wanting $10 million before the records are restored, Wikileaks.org discovered.

"I have your [expletive] In *my* possession, right now, are 8,257,378 patient records and a total of 35,548,087 prescriptions," the hacker said in a ransom note. "Also, I made an encrypted backup and deleted the original. Unfortunately for Virginia, their backups seem to have gone missing, too. Uhoh :(For $10 million, I will gladly send along the password."

The Virginia Prescription Monitoring Program website is used to help pharmacists track prescription drug abuse, and has the records of 8 million state residents available through the network.

suppose this kid IS guilty?..........just because hes 16 and a citizen, does this mean he couldnt kill ssomeone?.where are all the voices of the anti gunners who say."if is saves just 1 life.........its worth it?

i havnt saw or read the story....and for the kids sake..i hope he is innocent...............but what if he isnt?

Even the guilty are supposed to have a right to due process in this country. Now bear with me here, as a lot of people don't like to hear that, but there's a very important reason for that:

Sometimes innocent people are wrongly accused of crimes. If we don't guarantee due process for EVERYONE, we may be denying it to innocents. Maybe one day ourselves or one of our loved ones.

The Patriot act is unconstitutional and every single member of congress who voted for it along with the arse that signed it into law are guilty of treason, IMO.

At least two people, Cheney and former CIA head General Michael Hayden, beg to differ ....

So the director of the FBI says it was useless, and Cheney (who has no practical first-hand knowledge) and a former CIA head says something different.

Either way you cut it, somebody is full of shit / lying. Since two government sources are offering opposing positions, and since only 1 can be right (meaning the other is full of shit) I hope that rational-thinking people can conclude from this lesson that sometimes the government lies and/or is mistaken/full of shit.

72 Hours -- Are You Ready?????
Posted: 4/28/2009 8:54:13 AM
No, I live here. It is all about white people. Go to the courthouse and check out the deeds and the money and it is all about white people. Google "Brent Warr", the Republican mayor of Gulfport. He got over 200k. He's a multimillionaire.
Not a dozen black families got housing grants -- it was all about white people. Our Governor, Republican Haley Barbour saw to it that the traditional ethnic neighborhoods got nothing. We have entire sections of town with 3 and 5 thousand houses missing. All inhabited by asians and blacks. Pretend all you want. I live here. It's all about white people.

Your original statement that I took issue with was that the bailout bills were "all about white people." You are once again changing your argument, which is fine - it's just an admission that you're wrong on the points you stop trying to defend.

"The Saudi Prince didn't get any money..the company he is a shareholder in got money."

And of course the infusion of 250 billion dollars into the corporation did nothing to affect the value of the shares that he owned.

In an earlier post you divided the $250B by the 3.6% share that the Prince owned in the company and then compared that dollar figure to the amount of money given to Katrina victims. Once again you're changing your arguments, LOL. Your continual argument-shifting reinforces my opinion that you have a single-minded race-based agenda. I call that racism.

Influencing another's faith.. where to draw the line?
Posted: 4/27/2009 10:21:02 PM

people are exactly where they're supposed to be (karmic) in regards to what faith they're following

I don't see this in terms of karma necessarily, for that would remove the element of choice, but I most definately agree with the essence of it..

Ahh, but karma is nothing more than the consequences OF our choices. Without choice there would be no karma

I believe our spirits lived (maybe in bodies, maybe not - depends on who you ask, and I don't feel it necessary to this discussion to give my opinion) before this body... we are where we're supposed to be in terms of our own spiritual growth.

"The universe (and by extension each individual's current place in it) is in order." This, IMO, is truth.

IMO, karma and free will are not exclusive. Rather, they are forever intertwined within the universal law of cause and effect.

You brought the Saude prince up, not me. Can I help it if you injected into the discussion that a Saudi prince got about the same amount of money as the entire city of New Orleans. You expect me to ignore that?

I expect you to either admit that your "all about white people" remark was indeed racist or to refute my factual evidence that it was NOT, in fact, "all about white people." When you attempt to change the subject of a debate while still pretending to be engaged in the same debate you are committing the logical fallacy known as the "straw-man argument." Perhaps you should google the "handbook of logical fallacies," although common sense and logic (and indeed, I have broken down point-by-point our little debate for you TWICE now) should suffice.

BTW - The Saudi Prince didn't get any money..the company he is a shareholder in got money. When a company receives bailout money (which I agree they shouldn't get, but hey) the shareholders don't get a check for their share of that money, the company gets it as "working capital"...just FYI. If what you are claiming were the case people wouldn't be bitching about their retirement accounts (401k's, etc) being wiped out, they'd all be cashing their individual bailout checks. That you don't understand this basic fact goes to show that you're wholly unaware of how things actually work but are instead blinded by your very overt racism.

Swine Flu and the FEMA caskets in Georgia
Posted: 4/27/2009 9:38:28 PM

Some months ago, long before any rumor started about swine flu, a truck driver friend who lives outside of Atlanta confirmed something I had seen online. There was a YouTube video about FEMA buying hundreds of thousands of caskets and storing them outside of Madison, GA. No reason given, they were just....there all of a sudden. Row upon row. Like Rubbermaid's answer to a plague.

Seemed a bit like overkill...if you'll pardon the dark pun. I mean, there was nothing REMOTELY happening in the world at the time to justify that kind of purchase.

He and I speculated at the time that a new [fill in the name] virus must be in the offing.
But we didn't really want to believe that there was any kind of advance preparation for something that didn't exist...yet.

It was just too weird to contemplate.

Look for yourself. This video was added to YouTube August, 2008.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG7rV-mAcsE

Especially disconcerting once you read that many experts are saying this bird/swine (no infected pigs found ANYWHERE, BTW)/human flu mix HAD to have been created in a lab...

"how much money Katrina victims got compared to how much this Saudi Prince"

I said nothing about a Saudi prince -- you brought him into the discussion. Don't open the door if you're not prepared to deal with the horses stampeding out.

OK, let's go over this again...You said the bailouts (which I have very vocally opposed on these very forums, BTW) were all about white people. I said that was a racist remark. You then "back up" your remark by claiming that 90% of the shareholders are white. I refute this claim in part by mentioning the Saudi Prince. Your reply in msg 78, and I quote:

Oh wow, that's comforting. 3.6% of 250 billion dollars-- would that be about 10 billion -- the exact same that several hundred thousand families in New Orleans received. That sure gives me a warm fuzzy feeling -- the tax payers of this nation gave the same amount of money to one member of the Saudi royal family as they gave to 200,000 families in New Orleans.

That is what's known as a straw-man argument. You are now attacking the amount of money the Saudi Prince got vs. the amount of money the Katrina victims got when up to that point our little debate has been whether or not your remarks were factual or just racist tripe. In other words, you changed the subject...you built a straw man to attack, backing off from your original claim that you weren't making racist remarks because "90% of the shareholders are white."

Nice try.

I am tired of reading about this disaster and that disaster and the whole thing comes down to people buying houses they could not afford.

Actually my mother developed systolic heart failure (her heart now works at 33% capacity) and then on top of that 6 months later had to start taking chemotherapy for lymphatic cancer, so she became (and still is) quite unable to continue working. EDIT: BTW her insurance company denied her disability benefits and so far so has the Social Security Administration. She's worked hard as an RN her entire life and now has no income, not even the insurance (or Social Security) that she's paid into for 30 years. Nice job on once again spouting off at the mouth without having an inkling of what the facts are. You're a real piece of work. No wonder you seem so angry - I'd hate having that kind of personality, too.

Now you're making a straw-man argument. First you claimed it was "all about white people," when I called it a racist remark you claimed that "90% of the shareholders are white," when I present evidence to the contrary it suddenly shifts to how much money Katrina victims got compared to how much this Saudi Prince got. In other words, I busted you for FALSE and racist remarks, you know it, so now you're trying to shift the argument. What a boor.

"Your implication that all the shareholders of these banks are white would be one. "

You want to bet on the numbers? I'd be shocked if ownership weren't 90% white. Come on, give me your estimate.

I bet it's not even close 90% Don't forget that a LOT of people's retirement accounts, 401Ks, etc, owned stock in these companies, as did a lot of foreigners. You specifically mentioned Citi, who's biggest shareholder is Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz al Saud, ROFL. He owns 3.6% of the company himself.

IOW, you don't have any facts (if you did you wouldn't have made such an erroneous claim,) you just say it's "all about white people" and you are demonstrably wrong. Your ignorant race-based assumption is the epitome of a racist remark IMO.

PS - My white mother lost her home in a foreclosure last year. Other posters are right, it's about CLASS, not RACE. Do yourself a favor and wake the fuck up.

Offshore drilling vs. Alternative energy time to voice your opinion!
Posted: 4/25/2009 4:12:52 PM

Let us focus on the economy first.

I agree.

Any new drilling they do now won't bring us anything for the next 10 years. I thought everyone knew that.

I'd like to know why this is the case. Check out this NY Times article from 2008...

http://tinyurl.com/cj23qd

...about a Brazilian company (George Bush asks,"whoa, how many is a Brazilian?!")

Petrobras, Brazil’s national oil company, shocked the oil world in November when it announced that its Tupi deepwater field offshore of Rio de Janeiro could hold five billion to eight billion barrels of oil. Analysts think there could be billions of barrels more in surrounding areas.

While the oil will be expensive and complicated to extract, Petrobras has said it expects to be producing up to 100,000 barrels a day from Tupi by 2010, and hopes to produce up to a million barrels a day in about a decade.

So in Brazil it looks like it only takes 2 years to get 100,000 barrels a day from a brand-spankin' new offshore platform, but it looks like full capacity production will take 10 years. Maybe this is why CNN started parroting the 10-year line? Maybe it takes 10 years for full capacity production, but as the Brazilians are claiming, only 2 years to get the ball rolling?

I honestly don't know, but if Brazil can start pumping in 2 years surely we can too? That's not to say that we don't need to start investing in and researching alternative fuels as the oil can't last forever, but I think we could certainly get a lot more oil to the marketplace than we are right now, and it looks like in a reasonable amount of time. Too bad nobody's going to make the oil companies do it, anyway. They're already shutting down some of their existing platforms. Hell, they may be the ones putting the "nothing for 10 years" thing out there.

New Strain of Swine Flu Reported In N, America...Where is the Tamiflu?
Posted: 4/25/2009 3:43:44 PM

did anyone happen to notice this came just after reports of viles stolen from a military base here in the us containg flu viruses

Ft. Detrick. The same place where the anthrax used in the anthrax mailings after 9/11 originated from:

http://www.ph.ucla.edu/EPI/bioter/anthraxmissingarmylab.html

Funny how, after the "anthrax scare" the mainstream media never deemed it important to tell the American people that the supposed "terrorist" mailings actually contained (the Ames strain of) anthrax that could only have originated at this US Army base. Who says the media doesn't follow the government's agenda?

More people need to read about Operation Northwoods. The idea of attacking our own citizenry is not new to our government.

It seems to me that a fair analogy is that Fascism is Supra-Statism, and both the extreme left and right are guilty of this.

Is it wrong to report / turn in illegal Aliens

^^Because we're not a political party, we're independents who happen to believe in fiscal conservatism and social liberalism. That is the definition of a little-l libertarian. Of course we all have individual opinions on some issues, too. Part of the reason some of us (myself included) DON'T support the LP is because it is a party with a platform (some of which we can't agree to.) This is one of the inherent failures of parties in general, and the partisan system as a whole has been wholly destructive to American politics, IMO.

If I were going to play the lesser evil game I would (personally, just my opinion) put the Constitution Party and then the Libertarian party out there, but again, these very forums show what ignorance (literally) is bred by blind partisanship. Some people are very passionate about spouting things which can be proven to be simply untrue. Like I said in another thread, the whole country goes to hell while they chant "my party right or wrong, my country suck my dong."

EDIT: I voted for Ron Paul (in practice a libertarian) in the GOP primaries and for Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party in the general election last year. That a GOP slogan-repeater would call someone who votes for the Constitution Party a member of the "worldwide communist conspiracy" just goes to prove my point about the true nature of the GOP these days. Or do the diitoheads now think that wanting to restore Constitutional limits to government is a communist plot? Wouldn't surprise me. Spend and grow government like a commie while calling all of your opponents commies. At least it keeps the rank and file too busy name-calling to actually research who and what they're supporting, right?

Libertarian is a guise for World Communism

LOL. Libertarians are far more conservative than the liberal-spending Republicans could ever claim to be. Good job on twice-electing the most liberal spender to ever curse the White House. This is why the GOP has turned into such a joke these days. They're more liberal than the dems in the spending and growth of government departments. Shame on them!

That said, people need to learn to distinguish between the Libertarian Party which we call "big L Libertarians" and "little l libertarians" who don't support the libertarian party at all but who believe in fiscal conservatism (unlike Republicans) and social liberalism (unlike most democrats.) I myself am a "little l" libertarian. I am at odds with the LP on many issues, immigration being one of them. That said, the LP doesn't support a single one of the numerous social programs that illegals benefit from, which is REALLY the reason illegals are a problem right now. You'll not find ayd LPers supporting welfare in any form, and on this I agree with them. Shut down the gravy train and illegal aliens are a far smaller problem than they are now. It is a FAR less costly solution to the problem. See, libertarians like to actually save money rather than throw money at a problem. This is why so many former Republicans are now libertarians. The GOP talks the talk but demonstrably does not walk the walk. The GOP is no longer the party of conservatism.

And Splendere, once again you speak without being informed. I doubt you'll find a single libertarian who voted for Obama, for the same reason you won't find one who voted for the GOP candidate - We don't believe in leftist spending practices. Furthermore, your resorting to calling those who oppose your LIBERAL GOP as communists is oh so cliche'. If you want to look for the hidden architects of worldwide communism look no further than your own party. Try looking at spending records instead of listening to rhetoric for a change. Your party spent more money and grew the government more than any other president in history. No longer are FDR and LBJ the leftist boogeymen. Now it is George Bush, who soundly beat both their records while magaing to eviscerate the constitution at the same time. Communist, indeed!

People often embrace a party they know nothing about

Stan Jones, a Montana libertarian widely known for his peculiar blue skin, can arguably be said to have recast the political complexion of the U.S. Senate, turning it from Republican red to the same color as his face.

*snip*

He is also a man who accidentally turned his skin blue by drinking a homemade antibiotic laced with silver.

Reading about that guy was what stopped me from jumping on the colloidal silver bandwagon. I was close to buying one of those little gadgets to make it till I read about the smurf effect.

EDIT: There's a picture of him in the article I linked. Poor guy.

Influencing another's faith.. where to draw the line?
Posted: 4/25/2009 8:53:19 AM
I, too greatly enjoy spiritual discussions with people who are not of my faith. As a student of classical gnostic philosophies I really enjoy pointing out the parallels and similarities to many other faiths, Gnosticism being a "syncretic faith." That said, I don't feel like it's my job to try to convert anyone. As Valentinius said, (paraphrasing) people are exactly where they're supposed to be (karmic) in regards to what faith they're following. Besides, I don't believe there's an angry god who punishes people for making "mistakes" in regards to what books or people they've believed, so what's the point?

Maybe, Rush is the new Hitler.

Nah, he's too stupid to be a new Hitler. Rush is a buffoon, IMO. If Republicans had any sense they'd be trying to get the guy off the air before he damages them any more or makes them look any dumber.
