Nope, up here in B.C. Liquor sales are from either Government approved "cold beer stores" or from the Governments own stores. I've rarely seen singles at a "cold beer store" but I suppose they have them from time to time.
Unlike the US where you can buy beer at any convenience store. Not so convenient up here.
or as inexpensive!

You are in B.C. so just go to a Government liquor store and ask if they have any singles. Often times because of breakage they will. Most often they are imported brands and you can buy just one. Tell them you want it for a marinade and ask their opinion on which one to try. The darker beers have more flavor ...to me.

Just wonderin'?
I flew across the country (Canada) to meet an online lady and it didn't work but I am glad I went. What I am wondering, is if any of youse peeps have ever met an online friend or Forum poster when you were traveling\holidaying? Just curious.
I tried to search this Topic six ways from Sunday and couldn't find anything. If there is I am sure the self appointed Forum police will advise me in short order.

You ever feel guilty because you MUST be attracted to a person?
Posted:
3/17/2009 4:42:35 PM
I have.
I went out with a lady for awhile and while I like\liked her a great deal I just wasn't attracted to her. Made me sad. I felt slightly shallow as well, even knowing we all have our preferences.
Met another lady and I am not HER type. Wish I was, as I like her a lot, but I'm not. So there it is. Goes both ways

Posted:

I have read it on more than a few profiles and I wonder. Is it people who are afraid of aging and wish to justify their preferences? Is it merely the fact that we are all expected to live longer? I am almost 50 and I can assure you I don't feel 40 anymore.
What are your thoughts on those comments?

I tried eHarmony many years ago and I'm an atheist. Didn't get rejected. But if it works so well they wouldn't have to advertise so much ... in my opinion. Was matched with a lady in Michigan which, when we spoke, turned out to have NADA in common. I turfed it immediately

He, no doubt said that to you to further ingratiate himself to his wife. Whose side did you expect him to take? Yours? Really?
Be glad to be rid of him and move on with your life. Should he ever contact you again, tell him to leave you alone or you will get a court order against HIM.

People irk me. Well, azzhats do anyway.
I once had a young guys car break down near my house in the country on his way to work on a rig. I pulled his car into my yard and took him to work. A 70 mile round trip. He came back for it 2 weeks later with some friends and never said a word of thanks to me. About an hour after he left a guy came walking into my yard whose truck had broke down. It seems instead of stopping to help him they threw beer bottles at him. Nice huh?

Husband of 26 yrs. Left for a girlfriend 15 yrs younger

"Actually, there is a big difference between 7 years and 15 years, when it comes to choosing a romantic partner. Someone 15 years younger is very close to being young enough, in fact is biologically young enough to be one's child. 15 years is more than a generation younger. A big difference."
I wasn't bone picking but more commenting on the fact that both seemed to prefer younger people, historically speaking. My guess is that he traded up. Up as in slimmer\younger. Doesn't make it right but we don't know if there wasn't someone in her life when SHE traded up. Nes't pas?

cast iron frying pans
well seasoned cookie sheets
but my fave is my Grandma's toaster. Still works well and sits on my counter
My Mother asked me once why I didn't just throw it away. Somehow, in her mind, old things equated with being poor. Sad.

Hmm, okay. Well send me an email with your personal info and I will ask my friends Dad about a possible block for you. He is an old Master mechanic and has fixed up, literally a couple hundred tractors since he retired. He knows where to go all across North America for his parts. Or you could just start hitting all the auctions in the North Thompson and buy a twin to yours.
You sit out there because you want to. I'm glad for you. I wouldn't go back to those days if you paid me. The lines in my face in the mirror are enough testament to the hours I've spent in those conditions.
Spell check is for us readers, not you. It is painful trying to decipher your lack of spelling prowess.
What? "modern computerized advertising and impersonal networking system." You are asking on the Internet, it ain't "asking around", make up your mind lol.
POF isn't a social networking site, it's a dating site.
The dichotomy of what you wrote is astounding.
"Oh and if modern farming is so good, why is food so friggin expensive. Obviously the farmers are not getting a cut of the mafia's action there."

Should expectations of optimal shape at 50+ differ from 45?
Posted:
12/21/2008 10:05:26 AM
I would think the difference between 45 and 50+ would be minimal. It would depend on the dedication you give it ... to some degree. I've read that from age 30 onward we lose 1/3 of 1%\year. So maybe we can't get to the same stage we were at at 30 but we can certainly get to top shape.
I had a house keeper who would do 2 hours of calisthenics every afternoon and run\jog 14 miles twice a week. She had a shape most teenagers would envy. Particularly the teenagers of today. She was 62

A question about dogs and the cold weather...
Posted:
12/21/2008 9:47:11 AM
It depends on the breed obviously. Some, such as Malamutes\Huskys would be uncomfortable in a house at most temps. I built an insulated dog house with a protected light for heat that kept it above freezing. My dogs never used it but would dig in and curl up in the snow outside it. Any short haired dogs should obviously be inside if too cold

Massey Harris Ferguson tractors....
Posted:

Where to start?
Firstly you said something about software. Most any WP program has a Spellcheck. Know it, use it, love it.
Secondly, you can get rebuild kits for most popular old tractors or you can buy the pieces
individually from many providers if you know the specs. If the block is fine and it's just the internals that are FUBARed. No problem.
There are literally 100's of different sites online that cater to enthusiasts such as yourself where you can get info on parts etc. POF is a poor place to ask.
Thirdly, anyone who grew up on, and later farmed will tell you that the "good old days" were better, is absolutely bonkers. Simpler yes, better no. I went from cab less tractors to GPS controlled Autosteer units and can unequivocally state that today's units are less stressful and more comfortable. Something you'd appreciate if you ever HAD to sit all day either broiling or freezing on them.
Farming has ALWAYS been a business. Now it's just BIG business. My brother still farms and he seeds about 7-8000 acres a year. He has to as the profit margin per acre is so slim it's silly.
I'm glad to be semi retired!
Anything I can help you with I would be glad to share.

If you are getting bombarded with mail and the task to reply is daunting, perhaps just adding a line to your profile page that states " If I don't feel we are a match, I won't reply" may do the trick. Some ladies receive literally dozens and dozens of inquiries. I don't feel that it should be a burden to be cordial. If they don't read it and\or don't like it ... too bad.

Wow, nice reply! Bitter much? Or perhaps you've just not met many men who know themselves well. Most "mature" men (of any age) if wanting a solid long term relationship, will wait. The sexual part is a necessary part of ANY good relationship but it isn't the ONLY part. Perhaps the man in question has realized this and doesn't want that part to be the deciding factor in any long term commitments.
Or maybe he is a controlling dyckhead. Who knows.

Wok Cooking
Posted:
11/25/2008 9:22:30 PM
I live by my Wok.
I tried many recipes and they all take time. Usually short in my life. So I fall back on the tried and true. It works with any meat or veg.
A dollop of oil in a hot wok.
Add sliced onion, garlic and ginger.
If doing meat (any kind)marinate with your choice of hot, sour, sweet, salty ingredients, for 20 minutes, stir fry quik and remove when "mostly" done.
Set aside in a bowl in the oven.
Quick whisk clean of wok, then when heated again, a dollop of oil, more onion, ginger and garlic and put in frozen veg or fresh or whatever. Add a little stock (veg, chicken, beef) and some frozen seafood. Cover with lid and wait for steam to escape along rim. Add meat back in and heat through, tossing together. Pull up along the sides and add a mixture of corn starch and water to it, wait till the mix is thick enough to coat your utensil, then toss to give it a glossy look. Serve.
Works for me .... but I'm lazy
Hi Classy Chassis
Hows BC treating you?
EDIT: Stainless steel? Hmm. Mine is a hammered carbon steel wok that I keep oiled so not to rust but is "seasoned" so well I rarely need to.

All the posts are very cool and I "get it".
But as someone else so wisely pointed out. How can you be "proud" of something you had no hand in accomplishing or obtaining? It isn't like YOU did anything? It is just where you're family emigrated FROM or from whence your bloodline comes from. Are you not NOW American\Canadian\Whatever? I understand keeping your cultural traditions alive as it gives you a sense of "place". But to be proud?
