Agreed Maple, NHL players do receive playoff money based on how far they progress. The League/Teams get money from attendance, TV, etc, and based on collective bargaining, the players must share the wealth. NFL, MLB and NBA do as well. Sometimes it is a lump sum which is broken into 'shares'. A player will receive a full share while a trainer, stick/bat boy will get a partial one, which I believe is determined by the players themselves.

Killer, I think Bob is too well respected in Montreal to have to worry yet. Carbo had some bad press during his time there, remember him flipping the bird to some reporters at a charity golf event? So that may have hastened his demise. They have the most cap room of any team, but also the most players to resign, so I think the team will definitely have a new look come September and though not very popular in Nova Scotia, change IS good!

As much as I would like to see Sid bring the cup back to NS, and much as I dislike quoting wrestlers - 'You have to beat the champ to be the champ'. So I have to say I favor the Wings, but it will not be a easy victory by any means. I saw the cup here in 86' when Mike MacPhee had it at Macphee Pontiac in Dartmouth and a few times in between, and in a REAL shocker I'm going to agree with Maple and say - yes it will come down to goaltending!
I'd like to see Hossa win it as well, for me when he took less money to have a chance to win a cup, it sort of broke that Euro stereotype of them not thinking winning a cup was the Holy Grail and that Olympic gold was.

I am glad to see the cover charge rule change, I just felt bad it cost the girls an extra hour. Robbie will have to open his doors at 6pm...
Now I guess all that remains for me are 2 questions - 1) If they're only having the house DJ, why the $6 cover? Getting everyone there an hour early should account for something. Personally, even though I'm not a C&W fan, the bands always played lots to dance too...
and 2) If this is a singles site, why is Paige on here? She's made it obvious from her previous posts she has a b/f...
Because I can't reply again, I'll do it here. You should lighten up and stop being a victim, yes I know u have a b/f and yes he is my cousin it was all in fun but I guess you can't see that, so relax...

Well it's obvious we've agreed to disagree, but for those who aren't sure and would like to comparison shop...
1. Most Cups - Habs 24 (NHL Record all as Canadiens) Leafs 13 (1922 as St. Pats and 1918 as Arenas)
2. Most Pts season - Habs 132 (NHL Record) Leafs 103
3. Most Wins season - Habs 60 Leafs 45
4. Most Home Wins - Habs 33 Leafs 26
5. Most Losses Season - Habs 43 Leafs 52
6. Fewest Wins Season - Habs 25 Leafs 15
7. Fewest Home Wins - Habs 15 Leafs 9
8. Most Home Losses - Habs 20 Leafs 28
9. Most Road Losses - Habs 24 Leafs 29 (3 times)
10. Fewest Losses Season - Habs 5 Leafs 13
I could go into Personal awards/records but that would be way too easy...

Just because I thought you should know...
1. The Brothers Kostitsyn - They say temptation is the root of all evil and if you've ever been to Montreal after dark there are more than a few to choose from. Sergei got sent to the minors to pay his penance. Then again if every NHL player who made a poor late night decision was send to the AHL then I say bring back the Voyageurs!!
2. Patrick Roy - The media was involved in that debacle but I still point the finger at Mario Tremblay and his need to show he was boss and absolute ruler.
3. Koivu vs Kovalev - Probably close to 90% of the Hab fans I've spoken with said get rid of Saku. My question is how much can one person give to his team and still not have the respect of others? I would much prefer a player who shows up for all 82 games, than 1 who is a star in 35 and none existent in the rest. Doesn't loyalty and sacrifice mean anything these days?
4. State of the Habs today - They haven't made a decent trade since they sent the late John Kordic and his coke habit to Toronto for Russ Courtnall, look around at NHL rosters and you'll more than a few former Hab draft picks and prospects.
but with a top #3 rated minor pro system hopefully we can start relying on home grown talent again.
5. CFL in NS - Does anyone remember the Dartmouth Schooners/Sooners? It's been so long I'm not even sure of the name...
6. $6 - I was sure that I had made it clear that was an issue of principle for me? As someone who has planned and hosted POF events in the past and been involved in the operation of a drinking establishment I know exactly what is involved in hosting an event, so if you have a problem with that Maple my offer still stands...:wink
P.S. The reference to the trade earlier was by no means a slight towards Toronto, look at the Grabovski deal so I think we're even.

I agree 100% about the fans IN Montreal, but that's what happens when you get spoiled...
As far my posts go, I don't need you to proof read, police or attempt to justify them in any way, shape, manner or form. Since when are you a hockey authority?
Did you not notice my lol after the comment, it was purely intended as humor... So you can come down from your high horse anytime...and for a guy who seems to all about reading posts, did you not notice who mine was addressed to?

Robbie you're a Habs fan I would never slag you (my bad), my remarks were intended for the Leaf hate mongerer's...lol I've always said I cheer for the team crest on the front, not the player name on the back. Bob Gainey, though is the exception to that rule. Loved him as a player, liked him in Dallas and was happier than a pig in poop when he came home to Montreal.
I was shocked when they let Guy go. In fact a little traumatized even. Montreal's late season slump began when Robert Lang got hurt, and having a diva like Alex Kovalev doesn't help. Yes with all the UFA's they have, re-building will be the key this summer, but they do have a strong minor pro system and the experience the young guys got this year can't hurt.
Carey Price and other players must realize that Montreal fans and media don't accept mediocrity and never will. I think from what I've seen Mr. Price has the character to overcome this adversity. Losing you're number 1 D-man didn't help either, imagine if Chara hadn't played for Boston? BTW the fans had nothing to do with St. Patrick leaving, it was that idiot Mario Tremblay behind the bench.
As far as an NHL team in Halifax? I almost peed myself laughing when I heard that!
People here won't pay $14 for a QMJHL game or $80 for a pre-season NHL game so what makes you think this fan base could support any professional franchise?
Before anyone jumps on here crowing about how I'm making excuses, this post was directed to Robbie, Moe and the other Hab fans , so Kiss my Arse!
Vive le Glorieux!!

Now what? You guys gonna take long hot showers together?
You guys find a reason to criticize everything, it's always you didn't read this, you should have seen that. A million bucks says if you and Robbie weren't pals you'd have found something wrong with his post too.
If you want to compare teams, then lets! Along with this being Montreal's 100th anniversary they also named their 100 greatest players of all time, does Toronto have that? Shit do they have 10? Sittler, Salming and a few dead guys, so maybe a dozen. Plus their best player from their last cup won't even go the their rink anymore or attend any alumni events.
Why? Because he hates them too!
Montreal also has won 10 cups since the Leafs won their last one but that's not an excuse or a story, it's a fact!
Of course we brag about our past, we have one!

Moe no matter what you say about hockey a Maple Leaf fan will crawl out from beneath their rock/bridge and tell you you're wrong (especially on here). The fact is, yes Montreal got swept but I don't care if they lost them all 100 to 0, we got to the play-offs and that's the reason we play the season.
At least you guys got to see the last one...

Well after 3 highly successful events, it's about time we (as a group) ask for a little somethin' somethin'.
NSnowball should just ask for a few free passes or something to be given out at the pre-party.
Same rules - we have to be there prior to 11pm just like you ladies and is it too much to ask for a general area for us POFers? At least somewhere to meet? POFers in general go to meet other POFers, but we never know who is who because we don't have a spot.

Why not Sunshine?
I know it could be bad for your karma but single is single and what if that acquaintance turns out to be your special someone? It would suck to lose out because of someone else's feelings whether they are reciprocated or not. I personally would never go out with a friend's ex-wife or fiancee, but time waits for no man (or woman either).

All I know is that the only thing the Rodeo offers us as a group is somewhere to hold our event, it's not exclusive to POFers only and to them just another albeit busier day of the week. They offer no specials, no prizes, no cover charge discount (I had to put that in there) or other incentives to OUR group. So based of these simple facts we have no reason for loyalty to them.
If there is another venue we could try, why not? The Rodeo appeals me because its close to home and that's it, I mean how can you have a country bar and not sell Budweiser?
As I have said before I have organized events for POF in BC and would enjoy helping coordinate any in the future.
As for Mr C he is just telling his point of view. He doesn't like the Rodeo so nuff' said. Opinions are like arseholes - we all have them. So to each their own and unless you are being PERSONALLY attacked, let it slide.
I get as drunk as the next person at these things so I guess we have the rest of our lives to find something/somewhere we can agree on!

I have been there before on Fridays (POF functions and non-POF Fridays). Not wanting to sound too cliche but "The party is only as good as you make it!"
I have found POF people very approachable and friendly. The staff is nice but have changed almost 90% since my first visit in October.
Can I help it if I don't like cover charges?
Maybe I'll come early next time and set up a collection stand outside?
