Girls making the first move???
Posted:

i noticed towards the end of this discussion board it became about messages as in pertaining to "online"???
approaching online is a given , women and men BOTH need to iniate contact
im more curious to see how guys like being approached in a more social atmosphere like in a bar
i noticed quite a few guys scope the entire bar , and pursue one or two girls they like continuously and quite persistently
and for the girls that dont notice this and got there sights on the guy(that are actively pursuing specific women) ,they unfortunently get rejected when they approach
im sure in bars alot of them are looking just for sex but i think some actually find dates that way
alot of the responses in this thread are quite surprising i've always believed men love getting what they want and when they see a woman they want really bad they almost always go in for the kill (even shy guys) althought shy guys tend to take a little longer to make a move cuz they have to think about how bad they want the gal
i've always believed that when i walk into a room ,men "see'' me , and if they were interested they would defit let me know
just my two cents

Extra large age gap between children?
Posted:
8/31/2009 1:57:28 AM
my oldest sister is 18 years older then me ,
second oldest sister is 13 years older
oldest brother is 16 years older
second oldest bro is 11 years or so
im the baby of the fam , were all extremely close, and get along good ,the only negative that i have found is that when i was born the two oldest were out of the house, so i only grew up around 2 of them and those two im very close and i can actually go in depth about their personality
my oldest sister and the oldest bro , i kno them but i dont reallly know them, i dont know any of their high school experience first hand, i wasnt around during first bfs/gfs etc, i didnt grow up with them
its something that i wish to avoid later on in my life with my own children , i want some years apart but not so many that you miss out on everything about them

Over the last year I have been very ill and gained a lot of weight quickly. My immune system wasn't working and eventually they diagnosed me with lymphoma. I have some large fat deposits in certain areas, especially the abdomen and my gland in my abdomen, neck and groin were swelling so severely I was in extreme pain.
They are now saying that they can no longer see the lymphoma, but I have a PET scan and more surgical biopsies scheduled to confirm that. My glands are still swollen, but not as much. I have lost a little weight. I feel better most days and never have the BAD days I have had all the last year.
I have tried Atkins in the past and it worked, but tried it again this past year and NOTHING.
I have tried mostly vegetarian and just always felt hungry and weak.
I know I have a sensitivity to wheat, so mostly stay away.
I know that chemical additives, growth hormone and antibiotic laden foods make me pretty ill, so I eat about 95% organic, wild fish and wild game. I do have the occasional steak or roast from a cow that has been organically fed, hormone free and antibiotic free for at least 12 months before slaughtering.
I do very little dairy and only 100% organic.
I only eat organically fed free-range eggs.
I do not eat a lot of grains and it is mostly quinoa, amaranth, rice, only rarely do I eat corn.
I am not a sweets person, so I very rarely have any sweets, unless organic fresh fruit and baked goods are the most rare thing I eat. Not even once every couple of months, less even.
I eat mostly berries and melons when I eat fruit, sometimes date and the more exotic fruits like pomegranate, or cherimoya, maybe pineapple.
Sometimes I have citrus fruit.
I drink pomegranate, acai, cranberry or tangerine juice about 4 times a week.
I am an Oneg.
I have not tried or read much of the Blood type Diet, but thought I might. I have tried the South Beach and NOTHING. Atkins NOTHING, Vegetarian and no weightloss and felt weak.
I drink a lot of water. I am bothered a lot by allergies.
I do not know what else to do.
I do exercise moderately.
If someone could fix me, I would be so grateful, but dang, I start to lose any hope that anything works.
i have experimented with different kind of diets honest i have found that if you excersize properly and BURN MORE THEN YOU CONSUME, you will shed the weight
i lost 28 lbs by cutting down soda, fast food ,carbs and sugar, i cut down i didnt give it up , you can treat yourself
in my mind if i eat 4 slices of pizza, im going a long bike ride the following day
if i eat couple of doughnuts, then 30 minutes of buns of steel later on
you say you excersize moderately , you need to push yourself , walking a couple blocks everyday is better than nothing but if you want to lose weight , you need to get your heart rate up and actually sweat
your half way there with your diet , just need to do cardio

I noticed you haven't been a member for very long. Is this your first post? I think they should have a warning before you hit the "post" button. Beware of bitter b*chas and b@stads. Most likely you will get those who will not read carefully, judge you unfairly or for reasons from their own past try to burn you at the stake.
Take what you can from the very thoughtful (not always on your side) answers you get and don't take the rest personally.
Oh wait. Do I really want to post this?

Am i being selfish?
Posted:

one thing about these forums op , is you get the whole package , you'll get insulted, opinions and constructive as well as destructive critiscism and occasionally some helpful advice and alot of stupid advice
think twice before you ask for advice on here, i sure do
anyways op, i dont think your being selfish, after reading your post carefully instead of skimming it
i think where hes coming from is that he just missed his daughter very much , so let him spend some alone time with his daughter and catch up
ima assuming he could have made a big deal about his ex wife taking his daughter to australia to live but he didnt so he cant built a foundation with a budding romance ,YOU
so for quite awhile you have had him all to yourself, and you well got a little used to it
so talk to your man , let him know that you support some quality time with his daughter and as a family
all couples need "alone" time away from the kids ,in general, NOT one set of kids as oppose to another
so after he attends to his daughter how ever long that will take , you guys need to arrange babysitters or something and go on some dates or something , so everybody wins

Gypsy interlude
Posted:
8/30/2009 2:35:50 AM
i have too always been curious about gypsies they have a very different lifestyle
the way i see it, is if you google " how to catch a wild pig" it gives an interesting concept
the gypsies live outside of civilization to avoid that ,
one thing i've always found curious is they try to stay to their own , so i wonder how do they populate when they have such restrictions , i mean think about it , assuming the men and or women go into the city to meet someone how do they find someone to follow their path and live away from the city ,sure they come in to the city to sell and get what they need but other then that they stay away
so how do they find mates and have children? i've questioned whether gypsies truly keep it in the family , im positive there are hundreds of gypsies so they can avoid crossing the same genes but you have to wonder
i have a question for you NEBULA22 , you say you camped with them, did you notice anything? do they conversate about anything and everything like we do in the forums , do they talk bout their way of life and everyday occurences like how construction workers talk about what freeway they took home lol , or did you do most of the talking and they played music to fill the silence around a campfire

UPDATE:
i really didnt think this post would stay before the 5th page, thanks for all the replies
alot of it was helpful
as for my issues with my dad ,a little communication goes along way and our relationship has dramatically improved since then
as for step-mother, i am cordial and try my very best to be polite and i stay out of her hair and when she occasionaly gets out of line with her presumptions i call her out on it , i use to not say a word but being passive-aggressive is never good , since then i feel alot more at ease instead of wanting to hit her with a shovel ( i know that sounds bad go ahead and quote and unquote)
i guess my aunt recently had a conversation with her about me and said we need to work out our differences
and i guess she said '' ur right , i dotn kno why but we just have a hate relationship", (which im not quite sure what that means)
i think sometimes ppl just dont get along and for the sake of ppl you love your just gonna have to grit you teeth and bare it
all i know is shes my dads wife and at their wedding i personally came up to her and gave her a hug and said i was happy for both of them( at the time i was, my dad was glowing and looked extremely happy at the wedding) , as for her mental health its gonna take time , it can take years of combination of different meds to find what works for you , it really can take quite a while
she's not all bad all the time, she can be sweet, understanding ,generous and even fun to be around ..when shes not throwing pricey electronics and chairs

Eat Right 4 Your Type 4 Blood Types, 4 Diets-by Dr. Peter D'Adamo
Posted:

THE EXPERTS VIEW
"This is pure pseudoscience", says dr. stern." the blood-type theory has never been tested clinically with results published in peer-reviewed journals." One clue thats something's amiss: the idea that some people need les exercise than others based on blood type flies in the face of everything we know.
Another red flag is the suggestion that people with type-A blood dont have enough hydrochloric acid. ITs true that some people's stomachs produce less hydrochloric acid, but that goes with AGE , NOT BLOOD TYPE. and the problem with too little hydrocholoric acid is that you cant absorb enough vitamin b12' not that you cant digest protien

how to end it without feeling like a jackass
Posted:
8/28/2009 1:50:45 PM
simply say " im sorry but im simply not into you "
and if you dont want to feel like a jackass , tell her its because of one aspect of her "personality" that is the "turn off"
not the fact that you would like her if she was 40 lbs lighter , ( like in her picture)

how to approach girls on this site?
Posted:
8/28/2009 12:40:24 PM
i dont think your "approach" has much to do with y some women dont conversate with
you, in the online dating world you can get screened out no matter what you say
let me ask you this , the women that you message are they looking for "dating" same as you or anything less than dating?
if your messaging women that are looking for long term or serious
because you put down "dating" and it says in college and all your photos are of you having a good time with friends then you dont fit the bill for "serious'' or "long term" at least not off the bat
if you are messaging woman that have it ranged anywhere from "serious" to "talk/email" then i dont know what else to tell you

2)ask me to show you where my hottest friend lives ( like wtf???)
3) take me behind "kohls" and try to "get some" and be shocked when i demand to be taken home
4) slyly sneak out your****which is aleady wearing a wrapper
5) bring a friend without any warning and ask me to get one of my friends for him without moments notice
6) beg me to sit on your lap during a movie at a theatre
7)wolfe down your food like your never going to see it again , its not going anywhere TRUST ME ( by the time i finished assembling my burger and cutting it in half , he was done eating fries and all)

i think ur over analyzing , first date sucks!! even more with a third party , studies show people believe the first things they see is true , im not talking bout naiveness but im talking bout first impression, she basically made a bad impression from what it sounds like, by the 3rd or 4th date you should have a clearer picture of who she really is , good luck

What could she be thinking - a 3rd date after not seeing each other for a month
Posted:
2/17/2009 5:59:25 AM
i've had something similiar happend to me
and i've also had it other way around
i agree some people can be very fickle and others need assessment and time to think bout what they really want
i remember once talking to a guy who clearly expressed interest in me, i told him i only saw him as a friend as i continue talking to him and got to know him a little better , he started to grow on me and i told him i changed my mind bout him
i think personality really plays into it, it takes awhile for someones personality to really shine

What do u do when the 'parents' dont approve
Posted:
2/16/2009 1:02:01 PM
OP , i dont think his problem is not being able to stand up to his parents
i think what it is , is that he agrees with his dad
he has considered that your age different would be a problem in the future
if i were you i'd call him and ask him point blank if the age difference would be embarrasing for him in the near future
if he says yes , dump him
if he says i dont know , dump him
if he says no, consider dumping him anyways but give things time to see if thats what u want for sure
good luck op

The 8 month old daughter and the menu at Denny's is funny but maybe what the waitress meant was there was a separate little tots' menu and you wanted to order from that? Okay so she's only a baby - this girl obviously has no experience with infants! Give her a break!
the third menu in her hand was not a little tots menus, it was the same as ours
i didnt have no experience when infants when i was 8 but i still knew babies cannot read lol
after coming to the same dennys a few more times i concluded that she is a gorgeous teen with no brain
and i dont know if its a trend but ALL the females that work there wore funky eyeshadow im not exaggerating im talking like dark blue with glitter or hot pink all over the place
but the hostess is defit the twit
lol

Why do women put themselves in this position?
Posted:
2/10/2009 5:51:34 AM
I walk down a rode an fall into a hole. It is cold and damp and I feel scared. But I know this place and I find comfort in knowing this place. I stay for awhile and I become desolate and I despair.
I crawl out from this hole and see the light. I am happy and walk away.
The next day I recognize this hole and remember the comfort and jump in. It is dark, cold and damp. I feel sick and I despair. I decide to leave this hole and crawl back out.
I walk by this hole and it intrigues me as it looks a little different than what I I walk on a road that has a hole in the middle of it. I remember everything and think I am a better person and I can change that hole and make it a better place. I scramble down into the hole with the intention of making it a better place. And for awhile I am successful but the hole is the hole and it reclaims itself and is dark , cold, and full of despair. I am feel worthless and ineffectual. I realize I can't change this hole. I feel bad that I have failed and despair. I am helped by someone and I eventually crawl out of the hole.remembered. I take a closer look and fall in. I recognize the cold and dark. I recall the despair and do not wish to feel that again. I scramble out as fast as I can muster.
I walk down a road and see the hole. I recall my failures and I recall that the hole will never change. I decide to take a different road.
I am walking down a different road and realize that not every road has a hole filled with despair and darkness. I forgive my failures and enjoy the walk down a different road.
i love this , its beautiful

I'm Chris. I'm sick and tired of writing about me because its pointless and no one reads it, and if you do...well, whoopeedeedoo! want a cookie? If you want to get to know me then YOU message me and we can talk. Otherwise your loss, because I don't give a shit. I've got better things to do and I'm fine with being single...
could you be any more negative
If you want to get to know me then YOU message me and we can talk. Otherwise your loss
i'd be completely shocked if anyone did msg you because i sure as hell wouldnt
because I don't give a shit. I've got better things to do and I'm fine with being single
oohh dont tell me you just curious but you dont really care, you fine being single but your on here anyways cuz you would like to change that someday right and you know damn well yourself your profile needs a makeover even though u like it just fine
that first paragraph i highlighted...take it out ,out out off you dont need it and you will not find the girl you always wanted with that stupid introduction
being raw and honest isnt always attractive

alright since you asked
i love/hate it
the pictures are great they are not boring and eye catching
then after reading the "first date "section , im thinking wow this is not an ordinary guy
then i read what you put down as the interests now im thinking maybe hes not that different since your interests are soo common
then i get the impression you wrote what you wrote on purpose thinking that woman are going to see your interests and think "wow thats unique....NOT'
then see your date section and think hmmm how funny this guy got a sense of humour and creativity
anyways maybe i analyze too much but with your headline and with alot of your contents, i dont know if your confident or a tad bit narcissitic
if i were you , i'd put in more interests and change the headline

I have very strong family ties, I come from a small one so they kind of grew on me over the years.
with that being said and all the stuff you put in your interests gives me the impression you could very well still be living with your mom
while being a kid at heart can be fun , you seem to be really a big kid
kinda like tom hanks in big
not really what i see as a potential mate (if i was looking)

Why do women put themselves in this position?
Posted:

i know exactly how u feel, i think i posted a thread like this but for whatever reason it got deleted
one thing i learned bout people that are in these kind of relationships is NO matter what they tell you , they just want you to listen they dont want your help and you shouldnt give them help unless they ask
im the type of person that just cant give upm, i will give it all i've got before i walk away , that way i know i did everything i could so when i walk away i'll never look back, i'll never have regrets and i'll never spend my days wondering what if
you have reached the point where u did everything u could, im not saying you should abandon her but you defit need a new friend a potential bff to hang out with and leave her to her own demons
i think your friend actually loves the guy for whatever absurd reason , its called blind love that makes people stay in these kind of relationships

DOG attacks !! i wanna know your stories
Posted:

sooo one morning , our dogs were barking like mad because the mailman was outside(we have always been dog owners so we actually ripped off the mailbox that was attached to our house and string it to the outside of our fence for the comfort of our mailmans)
now since i was expecting a package any day now i asked my husband to go outsite and get it, i watched from the window and saw the mailman go to his truck and grab the package and threw it , i wanna say tossed it quickly but that was not the case, he threw the package over the fence to my husband
i had the same thing happend to me, i know for a fact the mailmans in my town are terrified of our dogs, they will quickly put mail in the box and rush back to their truck,
throw packages at me or my husband, and recently they left a package on top of our car , and once a ups man left a box like 4 ft from our gate
it honestly astonishes me how terrified they are, i cant help but think they must have had some gruesome experiences with dogs
btw we also treat our dogs kindly so they are not agressive just very territorial, they may bark like crazy but they havent bitten anyone and prob wont in the near future
anyways with all that being said i want to know your personal experiences with dog attacks, i've never been viciously attacked by a dog as a kid or as an adult
if anything i've been viciously attacked by a group of ducks lol which might explain my borderline fear of birds

Borrowing/Lending money...
Posted:
2/6/2009 1:45:58 AM
theres a saying
"neither a lender or borrower"
whenever i let a friend borrow something, i come to terms i might never see it again
i personally hate to borrow, mainly because i hate to owe someone something so it really bothers me when someone i know is comfortable of borrowing something from me but im not comfortable borrowing something from them
i usually ask to borrow something as well , so i can kinda hold it for ransom lol
the best thing to do is let them know your terms
i usually tell my friends i want my shit back asap after done using, i dont want to wait 6 months to get it back and i want it "delivered" like a ****in ups , if i have to go to their house to get MY stuff back , they can never borrow again
i noticed the Close friends are the ones that dont really live up to their end of the bargain
i had an acquantence that would ask to borrow a shirt every now and then, She would come over pick out a shirt, then after she was done wearing it , she would wash it and fold it neatly and deliver it to me, i had no problems lending stuff to her because my stuff would come back in a better shape then when i lended it

i usually read books by the author
i read like 25 books from V.C. andrews, if you are a first timer i recommend heaven and then follow the series, gotta love flowers in the attic
in middle school i was a huge R.L.stine fear street fan , read dozens of his stuff
i also read alot of lurlene mcdaniels, most of her books are about cancer patients or deadly illness like crystic fibrosis and leukemia
HUGE fan of anne rice, she really writes beautifully
i also like ann rule, her books are pretty much a summary of true crimes of the west coast
defit a jane austen fan , i havent read all of her books but i love fanny price in mansfield park
i am defit a sucker for romance but im picky on the story line , its gotta be capturing
the first romance romance novel i read was Candle in the window i loved it
i use to read the fearless series by francine prascal even though its a little far fetched it is an interesting and very fast read and appeals to the "bad ass " side of us women
i like alot of self help books as well , i have read "hes just not that into you " and i'd recommend to any female esp the "nice " girls
i also recommend LOVE SHOCK to those with a broken heart , reading about what your going through can defit help
i also liked TOXIC people by lillian glass
The Heart of the Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman
i like any books that have to do with understanding people
recently been reading the J.R. ward black daggerwood series, its not for everyone but i like it because you like the characters
HUGe fan of charlain harris, and the sookie stack house series, they recently made a HBO tv series on her books called TRUE blood
im in the middle of the crimson petal and the white, by michael faber, i have not finished but so far so good,if you love history i recommend this book, he reminds me of anne rice, he writes beautifuly with lots of details

It can happen to men too - no photo should mean no date !!

i've had those kind of experiences as well but i dont let a profile with no picture discourage me
i met my husband on here and i was the one that contacted him, his profile was very vague and there was no picture, but i figured since alot has been unswered that would leave me lots of questions to ask him and in the process make getting to know him alot easier
well after a couple of emails i asked for his picture and he gave me the link to his myspace , this was two years ago
today just so happens to be our 1st wedding anniversary :)
anyways op i agree " no picture no date" , if you feel like taking risks, go for it
just go on the blind date with the perception that the person is very unattractive so there are no dissapointments

i'd be flattered, who wouldnt?
although i'd much prefer to take a great pic, and then for him to use the pic to sketch from,

i'll only eat hot dogs if its cooked a certain way
which is either BBQ or boiled in water
sometimes i'll just eat it plain
im not picky bout toppings it just depends on my mood
my combinations are usually these
ketchup,onions,mustard,relish
bbq sauce
mayo, sour cream, diced tomatoes.......the buns have to be toasted

Too thin for you?
Posted:
1/23/2009 2:44:42 PM
i dont mind really skinny guys as long as they are taller then me
if they are skinny and shorter then me ( im 5'5) then im defit turned off and truly do feel like i would crush them during sex
It just seems when it comes to weight women are more picky. Why is that?
OP you really just need to find girls that like your body type instead of thinking bout the ones that dont

Found out my partner is secretly bisexual!! Devastated!!
Posted:

He had a profile on POF seeking intimate encounters with men for oral sex. After doing more snooping...he has posted about how badly he needs****and posted dates and times of when he is "available"!!!
if he posted looking for a female , wouldnt you think he is looking to cheat ? wouldnt you leave him?
i think its perfectly okay to have fantasies in your head but when you go this far it is not okay
i can understand why he kept it a secret but he shouldnt have made the profile because of the profile he should have told you
he has broken the trust that was built in a year , hes gonna have to earn it back
i dont think u should dump him just yet, but you should keep your guard up he has given you reasons to ,and u have every right

Too Old, Too Fat, Too Ugly, Too Dumb!
Posted:
1/23/2009 2:20:24 PM
I am wondering how many of the people on POF have a self perception (either now or previously) that prevents them from making better choices?
Just wondering what your thoughts on this topic are? Do we all suffer from this
interesting thread and a good one at that
my perception of myself is like a yo yo it goes back and forth its never the same it always changes
when i was a kid from the ages of 7-11 i got made fun of all the time , the boys in my neighborhood used to call me fattty, fat cow, fat ass etc it got to the point where i got used to hearing it i got numb from it, to the point where it didnt even make me cry
i think when i was like 11/12 a boy i liked called me ugly , i bawled my eyes out for nights
when i was a kid i wasnt concerned bout my body , i was more concerned bout my face i felt very unpretty
now im more concerned bout my body and not really concerned bout my face i feel very pretty in the face but i feel disgusted with my body
i dont think i ever allowed my own perception of myself to make bad choices tho
i've been in a real toxic relationship before and it wasnt my lack of self esteem that stuck me to him , it was love
i didnt feel like nobody else would want me but him
i had the options to leave him for someone else i just didnt

Jealousy from Relatives.......I just don't get it
Posted:

Jelousy is resenting someone that has something you want and that you do not have
ENvy is resenting someone for something they have and you dont want them to have it
very closely related but a tiny difference
OP i have had to deal with the green eyed monster in my cousins as well...One thing i noticed is that if my cousin felt secure if she felt like she had more then me ...then she was very nice to me
as long as she thinks she has more then me there is no drama
its the only way i know how to deal , just let her think and feel shehas more then me and everything is find
