How to login when the system can find you only when it wants to
Posted:

I tried to change my username and password one night followed by an attempt to login the very next day with my new chosen username and password. Since then I have not been able to login at all. POF tells me that "there already is someone in POF with my email address" and on another instance tells me that my "email address is not in our database". How have you repaired this problem beside contacting the moderators?

Meeting Strangers
Posted:
10/31/2009 7:55:36 PM
Of couse it's unacceptable. What I would like to know is, are we expected to Q & A back and forth with a total stranger and then meet. Seems to me that there is a progression that should be taking place first, right. fFrst there is the physical attraction then a sew flirtful questions, then you meet and ask a few more questions of each other to see if you even like that person and want to spend any time with them at all. So now you are curious and so on .... I noticed this early on at POF. This is how most of us experience it in life growing up I do believe. Fine if a person is only here to find someone to take them to the bar, but seriouly the internet dating thing does have serios flaws it seems to me. Or maybe I am just stubbornly old-fashioned. I don't think so. I think the op is at least being honest and to some of us that still means something.
Some of us have not been following the moral decline as well as others. I am just moving here to SK and have noticed that comparred to most of the rest of the country people who grew up here seem to have kept thier moral standards and principals better gaurded than others elsewhere.

Why is it that whenever I post to a thread there is this (delete post) just below my post? I don't see this on other people's posts in forums. So what's the deal? Maybe I should be enlightened then eh.

5 to 1 ratio of women to men in Vancouver
Posted:
10/30/2009 11:00:30 PM
And as well, Vancouver has the earliest spring every year in the whole counrty which seems to last until late in the summer and tends to work against men who are sincerely looking for more than just sex but a lasting relationship. I now understand why so many in the GVA have a problem differentiating love from lust. Sex, by the way is a commodity that can be bought, especially in Vancouver. Love on the other hand needs to be intentionally nurtured and few have the patience to go through the whole dance from first glance to first kiss. If you do not have the patience to spend Enough time in courtship but rush straight to the mattress you may never experience Love. And That Is a Grand Loss. Love cannot be bought anywhere on this planet. Not even in Vamvouver. Sorry.

Wow! "every man a potential rapist". Sounds pretty viscious a statement to me. How many of us does the author of that article actually know personally? Sorry but I dom't take such statements lightly. I suscribe to the "rotten apple" theory of society. Some of us left the basket long ago. Tis a great shame that those of us couldn't unite somehow. There ARE some beautiful souls out here ya know. It's almost time to rewrite my profile I guess. Stay tuned ladies. I am in the proccess of installing a non-Microsoft OS. I will return in a couple of weeks. Been absent from POF since April. (2x now) have had to have windows reinstalled. The last time I had it reinstalled was a week ago and am having trouble....BIG TIME! i I can't even find their Canadian support number now. It is hidden. Nowhere to be found. The other day someone told me Bill Gates has sold Microsoft but still works for them. Anybody have the support number in Canada. I don't have the money for a new Laptop right now and if I did I would rush out and buy a Mac or even some other OS like linux. ME:

Women in they're 50's behaving like sex starved teens
Posted:
5/13/2009 10:10:19 PM
I live in Canada and for some time have been surfing POF on the west coast of Canada, specifically, the Lower mainland of Vancouver searching for a mate, a partner, a dear close friend and all I seem to be running into is women who base thier relationships on sex. And that sts off my alarm bells big time. Good sex can be bought in any city in the world. I believe a woman who is serios about a lasting long-term relationship needs to offer a bit more to a prospective mate a LOT more than just sex. How about friendship? No. Make that "best friend" friendship. A good serving of emotional intimacy, trust, companionship, shared common values and princippals etc etc. One woman even laughed at the mention of these factors of relationships. All I find is women who go, "huh?" when these terms are mentioned.
What could have possibly gone wrong in they're previos marriages? I feel like I am in a sleasy bar at times. (i hate bars for thier cheap superficialness). And all I am seeking is friends. That is friends first. I know women run into the same shallowness in men too. But rest assured we are not all bad apples. Perhaps I am not looking deep enough into the lists of members do you think?

Girls Looking for the Nice Guy Ya Right!!!!
Posted:

Gordasitget, I can not argue your point. It is a good one that needs No defence. A lot of women need that to get there attention. Could it be that those ones were raised that way? They saw Dad thump Mom and...well it musta been okay because Dad did it. Hey Dad is Dad. He wouldn't do something that was wrong. No way.
Some of us Good guys were small at one time and were bullied a lot too. You know. Two or three times a week you were getting call out to fight after school across the street behind the church. By the time you half grew up you had learnt to fight pretty good since you were almost always fighting guys twice your size or one that were pretty good fighters. And never did anyone ever figure out the 'good' in the label 'Good Guy'. (ie: good scrapper'. Nobody wanted to side with the 'Good Guy's' otherwise they might also become a victim. And that included a lot of girls. They wanted to be with the Bad Boys (whom we have since learnt are really cowards in truth. Ever notice that none of em every picked fights with anyone who might give them a good go?)
The majority of those girls still grow up wanting the Bad Boy. At least untill he beats them up after they get married.
And believe it or not this is a part of human nature that has gone on sine the days in the cave. It's not abnormal. It's about Social Status. And the tool used is fear.
That is why my the heading in my profile says that I am looking for "One good apple" as opposed to a 'Bad Apple". Near all apples rot when put in a basket with bad ones.
The difference being that some have evolved and some never will to thier own detriment. Sux eh.

Kitty if I weren't so tired I would fill a page instead of the small post here with what and where else this sort of lunacy is carried out (ei: India)
It's a great thread and a very big can of worms to pick at/through.
Even the idea that many men here in Canada still beat thier wives as though they were akso men ties knots in my stomach it upsets me so much. I know that this is about much more than women's rights over there.
I will probably return to this thread later in time. I've much more to say here but am too tired right now and need the rest. L8tr.

Don't we have a place for the players? I think it's called, "Intimate Encounters".
And if all they want is sex why don't they just post thier profiles there?
By the way, sex IS only the icing on th cake. If they are so hungry for sex (and that is not hard to find out) I might even suggest they go to Intimate Encounters.

Ladies complain guys are bad
Posted:
3/7/2009 1:31:19 PM
The way I see it there is good and bad in both genders. Imagine that. But guys have learnt that 'good guys' easily get used so it is better not to show your "goodness" most of the time. Then there are the women who will settle for none better than the "bad boys". It's just human nature.
I seek intelligence, sincerety and honesty but in a world where these virtues have become vices what do you expect. The waters have become treaturous for those of us looking for a really good soul of the opposite gender. So some of us tend to "catch and release" a lot. Women do the same. Perhaps better communications and detail in profiles will help but I doubt it. This is the world we live in. No I am not generalizing. This is the reality of living in 2009.

A long time ago I wanted work. There was none in my city so I went out to the highway with all the neccessary clothes and stuff and hitched a ride out to Alberta and found work. If you wait for the work to come to you you could easily starve. So you have a family. Lots of people came to Alberta over it's history with families and without a cent. Don't want to leave where you grew up? Oh well. But do not expect the work to get to you while you sit idle. Sure it sux to work far far from home but it pays.

3 Police Officers Beat Man
Posted:
1/25/2009 7:56:59 PM
Ha! This brings to mind an incident in Toronto where early one morning police were called to a 7-11 store because of a disturbance where a gentleman was becoming very verbal with the store attendent. Three officers appeared at this 7-11 and beat the man who caused the disturbance to death . Those police officers claimed that the gentleman was weilding a 2x4 and had to be subdued by force. How is it that it was easier and more appropriate for the three burly officers to kill the defendant rather than wrestle him to the ground and place the cuffs on him.
As it turned out the dead man had a history of mental disorders and dwarfed the smallest of the officers? They were also acquitted. At the trial the dead man was made to look like a very very dangerous person which was quit contrary to the truth.
Have you ever seen a man experience "roid rage" (steroid abuse)? It's not a nice thing.
hint hint.

OP, does the government give money to small businesses in Canada when, (by fault of the those business owners) they can not compete or their product will not sell? Does the Canadian government hand out money to a small business when they go broke because they took risks that failed? Does our Canadian government hand out money to small businesses when their product will not sell because of intentional design flaws created the make their companies money at the cost of their customers.
For years the Big Three Auto makers of America have been building vehicles that the public didn't want. They had been designing inferior vehicles that broke down fequently and reaped the benefits after the sale in repairs.
Does the Canadian government hand out money to Small Canadian businesses who break the law?
NO.
Then why should the Canadian taxpayer shoulder the brunt of the problem????
This all began with a bet between investment banker on weather or not a "bad credit risk" could actually pay off a mortgage. YES!
The laws say that you can not offer a mortgage unless you provide the financial backing in case the loan goes bad which they did not. The broke the law. And now the taxpayers and wage earners the world over must pay these company's debts??
It is my opinion that we should let them pay this off with thier "golden parachutes".
And we in Canada (and elsewhere) will pay for America's corrupt system? I believe that there are heads that should literally be severed from the bodies that caused this.
This is a manufactured recession. And should it ever end up in a depression I hope that someone out there will beging the retreival of the resources the right way as it happened in Russia in the early part of the century. The pigs are now rip and ready for the slaughter. America and not the world must pay.

Kicking back ocean side on a quiet beach with a glass of wine works but nothing will relax you as much as a mutually satisfying midnight romp.

How long must you abstain before having sex with another?
Posted:
12/7/2008 10:05:22 PM
OP, there are all kinds of sex. For some, cuddling is sex. And I am sure that for other just being physically close is sex. For others (I am sure there are some) playing with their feet is sex. It's all good ya know. THe problem is why should anyone have any right to dictate when and with who you have sex with anyhow. I am sorry but I do not believe that anyone has a right to impose their standards or ideology on others. What I do behind closed doors shouldn't be anyone's business but ours (me and her).
I don't believe there is a stendard length of time for that for anyone.
Besides if you build a relationship based on frequency of sex you can be sure that when the sex becomes that much les frequent the the relationship is on it's last legs anyhow.

Age is NOT discusting. Age is a good thing. Older people know and have seen lots and therefore have a lot of advice to share. EVery time I come across a car moving really slow in traffic I remind myself that may be my style of driving one day much later.

What is Your Order of Building Relationships?
Posted:
12/7/2008 9:20:19 PM
I am still recovering from a short relationship with a puma months and months ago.
The woman wanted nothing but to jump my bones. On the night of our first meeting we were in bed. I explained over and over (as did her friends) that we were going too too fast. Me thinks she (just divorced for a year at the time) was still in her 'catch up one sexual variety' post divorce mode at the time. She now has had much more time to mull it over and realizes what I was saying and was right. Her kids were the problem as anyone who had come from a broken family will relate too.
My order is the same as it was at twnty years old. Slow and deliberate except today that has a second reason....to savour it. Those things are priceless.....even for the lasting friendships they produce. Never regret an attept at romance in your mid years.

Dressing up dogs! Pure silliness?
Posted:

Almost evry single time I have wittnessed a person dress up their dog I see the same thing.....the dogs look up at their master with a 'what did I do to deserve this' look and one of utter embarassment. Nobody can miss it. It's too obvious. Your dog hangs his/her head in shame. Just like when you shampoo your dog. First thing he does when he gets outside is look for the smelliest thing to rool around in. And soon as he/she gets up from it the tail is wagging and does it again. By the way most fur bearing animals usually use dirt to get clean. The dirt/mud/whatever dries up and they shake themselves off. The dirt lies in the oils of their fur and the dirt takes it away without them loosing their scent. Remember these four-legged creatures are all about scents.
If I could concoct a mud based shampoo all of those dogs would be happy customers I am sure. I have watched wild horses do it and dogs too.
Booties in the city to protect them from the salt? Yes they do figure that one out becuase the dalt doesn't hurt their feet any more but clothes. Big no no.
But those are my lifelong observations.

Dear neighbour, abouts what's going on in Canada

I suspect that Mr. Harper may have taken directions from George on how to steal an election. Remember how Stephen was going down there to talk to George W. ?
WHat did they discuss? Was Mr. Harper taking instructions/orders from the enemy?
Hey! We ARE at economic war with them still. Does anyone remember how they paid for the lumber in full? And how long it took to get that out of them?
Does anyone else remember how the EU turned America down for a loan?
Does anyone know how Mr. Buloney signed an agreement to share all of our resources (at Cadaian's expence when Mexico said screw that?
Mr. buloney is clearly a treasonist and we all know it but can't seem to prove but one day down the roadf it'll all come out.
Conservatives have a long record of giving my and your resources away to other countries. They're crooks.
Still an excellent thread op.

A guy you meet is not allowed to have his daughter stay over

Whenever I hear the 'what went wrong in the marriage' story from someone I alwats remember this: Usualy the aretwo or three versions of the truth. His, hers and the truth. Sometimes her version id the truth. Sometimes his version is the truth and sometimes the court's version is the truth. Yes I know that is a different thing. And then if the first version you hear is the only version, then you get another version from someone else in his croud that collaborates his version, and then someone else tells you a whole different story. WELL. Now thats another story.
One thing for sure about a person's lies is this.....if they tell one lie they have to back it up with another lie and then a third to back up the second lie and so on and on and on.
And the last thing is that it's very difficult to keep that order of lies consistant. Of course there is the body language that accomadates lies.
But yes, your situation is one to be concerned about. Riddle him with questions on more than one occasion and see if he keeps the lies in the same order consistantly.
And of course the odds that his ex is likely to say nice things about him are quite slim anyhow. I'd say riddle him too. But if it causes you that much concern remember that there are good fish without that kind of suspicious baggage around the corner.

For me? All I want is about 100 acres in BC with a river running right through it so I can use the current of the river to generate enough electricity and get off the fat cat's grid.
Then I would build a retreat for really really decent people. Actually I want to build a modern commune there where people could grow old together and enjoy the fresh air, grow our own food and die with dignity. I look at the concept of 'old age homes' knowing it's a bad concept that was created just after ww2. What have they renamed this concept? I think someone changed the term, "commune" to "co-housing.
Actually all I want is lotsa happiness. That IS our purpose of life on this planet appearently.

Does anybody here realize what Harper has in mind or WHY the other parties ganged up on him? I thought I knew. Now I do know. He wants to change the rules so that the paties have to rely on 'personal' contributions as opposed to 'corporate' contributions to election campaigns. AND. He wants to take away our right to collective bargaining.
At the moment Mr Harper gets most of his party's contributions from personal contributions while everyone else get theirs from corporations and unions.
Mr. Harper doesn't like unions. Excuse me, it's the people who contribute to his party with donations who really Don't like unions. These are business people. Why? Because unions give workers a say in their future. Unions support collective bargaining. Collective bargaining gives us the power of "Numbers".
Look what happens in other parts of the world when the workers are pissed at their leaders. General strikes are becoming more common every day. A 'general strike' is when everyone, union or not goes on strike shutting down everything.

I did a bit of research on goats and this is what I found out:
Goats can Not be hearded easily. Their favorite food is phallaris grass. Phallaris grass contains DMT which as it happens is the world's strongest halucinagen. Yes goats Will eat anything. (No No NO. That was not a sexual connotation. Get your minds outta the gutter)

Wait a minute here. I just read something that makes a lot of sense that I'd like to share.
"Getting old is mandatory. Growing up is optional." What an ironic truth.
I can't help it if a twenty-something girl warms up to me or even comes on to me but that doesn't neccessarily mean I would follow through with it, unless of course she is very mature for her age.
While so many here allow 'sex' and/or ' social status' to rule who/what they are here seeking, some of us others are now finally seeing relationships as a lot more than just about sex or being on a very attractive 'other's ' arm. (I am not a car nor am I a peice of meat. I am a human being.
Personally I miss being with someone who's company (in a private situation) is warm and there aren't the usual sexual pretences present.
I believe it to be mandatory also to be able to view a person of the opposite sex a a human being as opposed to a peice of meat. I miss cuddling with someone who fits so good to the point that words need not be exchanged.

Dear neighbour, abouts what's going on in Canada

Great thread Rozolyn. I am sure that a great number of the Americans who read this are probably thinking it's a joke. I personally know how ignorant a lot of them are with regards to Canadian affairs. I once told a bunch down there about my igloos and snowmobiles and dogsleds. It was sorta funy then it seemed sad that so many would believe me. Oh well. Thanks for this article. I just sent it to my younger brother in Rochester, NY. Good thread

Block and Banish the Bloc Québécois

Tyee, do you have a big problem with Collective Bargaining. I fear that Mr. Sharper may be taking orders from some of Mr. Buloney's friends down south. Well it sure seems like it. By the way, in America the internet is corporatized while in Canada the internet is "a free space" just like our airwaves. Canada compared to America is like comparing salt and pepper. I grew up in a demi-Socialist country called Canada and I am still here and npt going away and I am not going to allow someone like Mr. Sharper deny me the right to bargain for my livelyhood. The conservative party has to go. Sorry.

Whats the problem out here. The Bloc should not be allowed to exist. That is the problem with most of America. And the certain Arabs have a similar problem with the Jews. And a lot of other places on this planet there are large groups of people who decide that those who possess differing opinions from their's have not right to exist.
You sound like a bunch of 13 year olds. GROW UP!

What does your profile name mean?
Posted:

My profile name says exactly what I am looking for. Can't be more to the point than that. Others need not apply. There are 'good' men and 'bad' men. And there are 'good' women and 'bad' women. And then there are the one who want others to think they are either 'good' or 'bad'. Somewhere in there are the real ones and they don't advertise themselves loudly and are very hard to catch.
The worst friends you may make are the easiest to catch.

Men saving themselfs for marriage

ok. Lemme figure this one out. You have never met a man who you didn't ****?
Don't know any men? Or....don't know men you've not ******?
Things work out so much better when you 'talk to' men not 'about' them and certainly not 'at' them. You have to learn some communication skills girl. Either that or grow up cause you may very well find yourself with kids and no hubby like that. Good
I think another poster put it right......in your lifetime you'll have far more opportunities for sex than you will for a sweet guy
I hope he has a brain.

So, op, we can make this private so you could explain this one to me. (of course I can read).

Hmmmm. Men using toilet paper when the go to pee. Interesting phenomenon. So far on this planet it doesn't happen. Men have this thingy down there and...
Well men just pee. Thats it. And some of us even wash our hands right after but using toilet paper after? No. I don't think so. Why? You tell me why men should use toilet paper after we pee. WHy do you need to use toilet paper after? What the heck am I supposed to do with this toilet paper?
Sorry op but your request does seem a bit strange. Hey, no offence. But explain to yourself as though you were explaining this concept to a man what/how he should pee please.

How would one survive winter in Canada, Ontario, Kingston?
Posted:

-4 - 4 defrees? Ha! Don't count on it. Usual teperatures for Kingston? Ok, I won't argue. But it can get much colder in Kingston. I am waiting for -30 to -50 so I can work on a pipeline job. Well the money is quite good in that business if you are fit.
But there are a good number of pubs in Kingston to hang at. And there is the University too. And late night toboganning near the fort. Just layer your clothes and you'll be fine. Oh ya, in January some like to wear shorts even. Just kidding.

Good Toboganning Hills
Posted:

I know about some of the obvious hills in Vancouver and can get around. Ok, well I know about Cypress Bowl. Thats where I snowshoe. I've a difficult time imagining no tobogann hills in Poco though. I remember walking up to the holding pond up the mountain. Elsewhere in the Lower Mainland?
I am a bit on the "extreme" side of toboganning sometimes though... and then I like to just watch others have fun.
