I used to wonder how my Dad
could drink coffee in the midst of summer sun
slurp it right up and be glad
with the vile brown drink and a buttery bun
just a moment for reflection
a small break in his day
a brief yet tidy introspection
out in the field cutting hay
now I am older and I
enjoy a cup of joe,but hey
in the morning when the sun isn't high
and I think I know what dad would say

Ft Hood Incident Highlights Dangers of Gun Control
Posted:

what about the "alleged "reason for perpetraitor to have a plan of action to keep from being sent to the "war zone" in the first place?
treating the symptoms without curing the disease.
If only someone would have been more aware of this guys mental well being
he may well have been discharged or kept out of active duty status in the first place.
Is it a symptom of needing "bodies to fight a war?"

the sand I am seiving gives gold nuggets for you
the hand I am holding recieves the ticket
for what show we are hoping to view
the movies,too costly so fricket
its cheaper and more amusing
to watch people at the mall
all scurrying and perusing
and getting really nothing at all

the one who will never read it
is the one who sleeps easy
his concious thoughts don't feed it
her raucous thought so teasy
her innocent ambivilance
her vision of herself patterned in hoar frost
a page of words,poetic contrivance
the book of a life so burned and so frayed
but all is not lost
and all is not paid
talk of religion,betrayal,and corruption
is life:pardon the interruption
we now return to the regularly scheduled program

life ,so confused by it all
I come home and throw my troubles at the wall
lie back and spout about how I am feeling
but what good does it do to talk to the ceiling
I hurl obscenities at the door
does it hear or care anymore?
and the poor hard floor accepts my pacing
other than that it is ignored
even though it waits safe and solid for my feet
thanks floor just for being there

take away sin
nothing to believe in
wouldn't it be nice
to live without vice
no beliefs to defend
just being a friend
no echo so hollow
no words to swallow
no heaven or hell
wouldn't life be swell

each conspiring to gain monetarily

how real is that? And do we really care?
about other peoples emotions
can you frightened by a dare
can you kneel in devotion
can you sympathize with disaster
if you aren't the victim
can you be slave ,servant,master
the lights are dim
as the electric cosmos lights the way

wanting is the solitary suffering of man
need is just a shade of greed
giving a fraction of an inch
leads to self destruction
time in need of a pinch
teaching not a fortê, I desire instruction
all men/women have dark sides
temptation led to frustration
I rarely get involved in trivialities of human condition

You could really do it
if you put your mind to it
tonight love may fall
down thru layers of black velvet
smoldering embers
the heart reveals what the eyes cannot
too many years stacked
on the face
too many years wasted
on the rat race
to catch
whatever falls
anonymity wins

No desire for elation
but desire to be
heard ,loved,held with fascination
by the fire in a few words
what is a picture
long hair ,teasing eyes and empty smiles
for a camel; I'd walk miles
to drink from the cherished well
of inspiration

wildest romance starts in the minds of people
we never have known
ice forms on the town clock and steeple
dream lover so noone dreams alone

its dark at 7 am

The day I first learned,HURT
so I built that wall
brick by brick,immune, inert
to pain, the wall grew tall
until she came and started
to tear it all down
pictures of her plastered over
what is left
will the wall crumble?
or will I start to rebuild
the fortress of my heart

the air is filled with sound
all the electronic gizmos
that the earth is floating around
someday someone will decipher the cosmos
Carl Sagan came close
but perhaps the one voice
you listen to by choice
will be full of answers to the quest
you need to spend to invest
it all takes time
and nothing is as serious
as it seems to be

the dust danced on the road as the wind picked up
the place so dry you could drown in a paper cup
the dog lazes in the shade of the old tree
and for my love I wait, to see
my special one is overdue
walking from the track with a well worn shoe
she smiled as the heat came down
she'd hold my arm as we strolled thru town
but my love where are you?
where are you to hold on these cold nights?
how far did you travel to see the sights?
I am standing and waiting dear
are you close by,are you nearly here?

chnage doesn't come easy
if changes come ever
over country roads lite and breezy
with a fulcrum and giant lever
I moved the world,or the world moved me
I am never sure which
because sometimes stuff just happens
time steams by in a blur
and if I am lucky and not caught up in change
I catch a glimpse of a shadow of my life
memories good and bad
but memories are circumspect
are they real,or memorex?
to be continued.......?

for in simple form for eyes to see
the phalanx formed but its way barred
by misery that loves company
the accompanied regiment ;battle scarred
for still others oft unenlightened
at the time of vernal equinox
masses ran helter skelter very frightened
for on the land a paradigm, accursed blight, the pox
for when skin turns pale and grey
and rings form round the eyes
hidden from the light of day
another fellow being dies
its grasp like an iron hand
first a hundred ,again a thousandfold
its reach far across the sand
its might cannot be foretold
the greatest scourge upon the earth
nothing stays its icy doom
know your station,mark your worth
smoke,fire,and ashen plume
each one given a part to play
each one touched by Spanish kiss
truly marked the end of day
knowledge of ignorance is bliss

on the bank of the river
the siren sings her song
hoping someone will give her
a love that lasts long
her tresses soaked and streaming
and clothes sunk tight to skin
no one particular she is dreaming
just waiting for it to begin
her eyes like steel
her touch like fire
can't keep an even keel
as he feels her desire
he knowingly plugs his ears
to keep on paddling faster
told about it for years
never let a siren be your master
still he wonders what
it would be like to give in
to that feeling
and surrender to disaster

foolish thoughts placed randomly on the page
its passion that brings the word
even if it may express a rage
and cause a herione her loins to gird
is she brave none the less?
her tresses flow as she steals the breeze
her raiments flow as her heart may bleed
both in part as thoughts, boil and freeze
as she gallops along on her mighty steed
she is a hunter , a searcher for truth
who can blame her
born in the wrong time or place
but as the fable says
slow and steady wins the race

The old man passes my dooryard
If I am awake enough to see
head high,arms swinging hard
he seems he's got somewhere to be
I wonder where his path goes
and if I walked the same way
does he follow his own nose
and why is his hair all grey?
so I wait and watch carefully
to see when he comes and where he goes
so nonchalant and carefree
a bouncin on his toes
but no matter how I try
I just cannot trace his steps
nor even his footprints I espy
turning over every stone with forceps
so the man is an enigmatic mystery
I may never know his history

you can see the moon
even one the sun is high
washed out blue silvery spoon

the firelight beckons
and the moon calls
sometimes up half the night,I reckon
just staring up

They cut down the trees to till the soil
then they traded off their souls for oil
they stopped planting crops
and planted Wal-Marts
where people used to live and work
all in the name of progress
but in the process
they eliminated jobs
and eventually themselves
poor thoughtless humans

Gotta message from Jesus today
in an internet e-mail
bearing his image in the usual way
thought it was a joke or a note on how not to fail
It said if you love someone pass this on
how did he know I was even at home
so I clicked to pass it along
hope the pope in Rome
can get a message this way
Don't blame me I really did try
told him to advise all the sinners to pray
for the world to figure out just why
there is another way for God to doubt
is the word really gettin spread about
Because I gotta an email message from Jesus today

I am not great man
I'm not a proverbial nice guy
I have farmers tan
and a wandering eye
I see things through
or lay them to waste
I let bills get overdue
I may lie to your face
I may not call for days at a time
I may run thru the fields at night
and whisper back to the corn
I'll step thru the door at first light
I may cry softly, when I'm torn
or I may tussle with the cover
I'm a man not an easy lover
I won't drink too much
or curse in church
insist to pay the "Dutch"
while smile turns to smirk
I'm smug and often bold
watch TV too much
don't listen to you when you scold
still wherever I roam
I always miss you
you make me feel at home

I read the phrases about the heart
but unable to see between the lines
her loneliness worn like a dress
I think it would be fine
for a whispering mention
to be found on those lips
a fondness deserving attention
never to be mine
a wink,blink or caress
for the lonely places deep in the heart

If she were back in my arms would she be satisfied
to love singularly I have tried
friendship, then love may come for a spell
but something happens, and all goes to hell
so different ways I have chased amore
and always ask myself what the hell for?
Not enough money,too far away
will love true love find me sometime, some day?
maybe it's me after all
too picky ,too petty ,too big, or too small
always looking for perfection
using it as protection, when no body is perfect after all

but if a message gets out
life is not for the meager and weak
live life without a doubt
seems like the best advice ever given

A joyful refrain
are the tears of a paper thin heart
tenderest moments,whispers in the rain
quiet forboding and a tremulous start
the familiar well worn creases
of two worn thin by time
they aim to satisfy and it pleases

always feeling as if
I know I am young
but I've known for quite some time
my escapes with her are detrimental
when those images cross my mind
we all show some potential
and the clamorwhen I think of her raven hair
She sees the silver poking up
the truest pleasure
seems to return nearly every day
but this thing called love
has made many a fool
she dances around,swaying hips
brings a smile to my lips
her eyes burning into my heart
I may have another day ,another night
unable to use my greatest tool
todays smile is tomorrow's smile line
I know in my soul she will be alright

speaking of soft voices
of all gals I've seen
who make the painful choices
they may dream of meadows soft and green
and young lasses who cry
rivers
until tears run dry
it is so lonely and worrisome
but then tears stream;boo-hoo
on freckled faces of all the little girls who
will experience heartbreak and sorrow
tears today; smiles tomorrow

her crying sounds like
some small bird
maybe the coo of a dove
or lonesome whippoorwill
the tears roll from her eyes
as she stands alone on the porch
and the echoes fall from the surrounding pines
like snowflakes
she mourns for what was
and wails for what life brings

why bother with this love?
Its tennis,game ,set,match
an empty burner on a stove
from midair it's a snatch
like some tumbling trapeze act
we dare,sometimes we miss
and fall into the net as a matter of fact
and sometimes it goes all the way to bliss
and they lived happily ever after
we live ,we love,we fail
cause life ain't no fairy tale
