I'm glad you didn't laugh at him, or do something like that. That happened to me once when I asked a girl out in a shoestore. I then left the store.

Thanks for the vote of confidence lucy I may just take you up on that. Have you thought of looking into a special needs program for him? it may help him make a few new friends. I know have hard it can be growing up with a disability, some of my best friends also have learning disabilties.

I Think you're right Forums. I can speak from experience on a lot of these things. I've had to read things a few time in school in order to compehend them. I've failed a few math tests in my time. I would still like to continue persuing higher education as I've been doing for the past few years now. Creative minds can have a hard time writing, but this isn't always the case, I've written stories and essays and I find that writing is a process, not a product.

Okay I've been on this site for a while now, I've seen threads about every kind of social issue I can think of,except learning disabilities. I have a mild case of dyslesia myself! how are learning disabilities viewed by people who don't have them? How much of a factor are they when setting and pursueing goals? i.e. higher education, career advancement, personal growth, etc.
I have found my learning disability to be a barrier to many things I want to achieve! Just wondering if anyone out there can relate to this?

Funny you bring this up! I'm just in the process of re-evaluting some life goals. I'd like to get some more school behind me in hopes of moving into a new career in a few years, but before I do I'd like to do a bit of traveling. I definitly want to publish a few novels before going to the grave.

Couldn't help but read this thread as it developes I too use games as a substitute for movies and T.V. and have been playing them since I was a kid. You're right games these days do privide stories and enterainment on par with T.V. and movies I might add. Here's a few of my fav's on no particular order.
Gaxigan, Missle Command, Super Mario Bros, Wild Gunman, Street Fighter 2,Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 More recently Starcraft,Diablo,Jedi Knight, and Doom.
Also liked Neverwinter Nights, have been playing Fate a lot the last little while as well.

I'll say my piece on this thread. As a kid liked He-Man and Transformers. Once I got older I started with Star Trek (TNG) which is still my favourite of all time. Now I watch the occasional episode of CSI.

DATING MEN WHO ARE AT THE SAME Standard and stage in life as you are??????
Posted:
11/18/2005 10:02:57 PM
Hi Again Folks
I like the opinions which have been expressed on this thread. Certainly we all need to find the line between attitude and ambition. I'm personally trying to find it! A lot of views expressed on this thread are good. Another thing which I think needs to be adressed here is "changin with the times" As we all know society is different today than 30-40 years ago (longer work hours, less long term marriages, miniuminal job security, technological change, etc) and unforuately some have trouble adapting to change, unless it is forced upon them! Some relationships can end for this reason if one partner embraces change and the other doesn't.

Gilmour You Should read my post under "she never said she had a boyfriend" for my two cents on this! Also you may want to think about changing jobs or arranging a transfer, to avoid contact with her!

Hi Folks
Couldn't help but read this thread! I'm Currently in a situation where I'm going to have to pick between continuing with the job I've had for the the past seven years, or getting back into school and pursuing a new career at 29 years old! I've always wondered how people can have both a career and relationship at the same time in the World Today, but they seem to be able to! You'd probably be better off in the long run with someone who has the same values and goals as you. Provided they're realistic goals!

She never said she had a boyfriend
Posted:
10/26/2005 12:29:13 PM
I've had this experience myself, when I was taking some classes at a local college. Anyway there was a girl in one of my classes who I was attracted to, and by the way she was flirting with me(i.e. starting conversations, looking at me and smiling) I think she felt the same way. I talked with her casually before class for a while, then at the end of the semester asked her out,and we exchanged emails. I got no replies for about a month. I had gone away to Thailand for a holiday (something I spent two years planning previously) Then when I got back I visited her at work as she told me where when we were in class. She looked happy to see me, but only after I showed her pictures from my trip did she tell me she had a boyfriend. I don't have to say here how I felt about the whole episode! That's my story.

I can totally relate to this mrmystery, I'm still trying to completely get over a few similar experiences I've had recently. Just hang in there, find something to get busy with set a goal that is non romance related!
