Like most men I like women with D's....in my case that would be a Ph.D, Ed.D, ABD, MD, DO, OD. Okay, one exception, no one with a Psy.D ( I think that is the proper abbreviation)

I would have answered this sooner but I was --- ummm --- I was, okay, I was tied up. While I would like to give you a whole diatribe about my personal ideals, I find it hard, let me rephrase, I find it difficult to type while standing up and sitting is not really comfortable right now. That, and these damn clothespins on my nipples are distracting. Anyway, and I like to say here I hope everything is spelled correctly, because some B*tch ...err I mean someone deeply concerned with my well being, still has not taken off either my blindfold or her 4 inch stilleto's. Oh, my typing must be adequate because she just whispered in my ear that if I msispell OWWWWWWWWWWWW anything she will, as she just did, dig her heel into the top of my foot. I would like to thank her for her concern about my typing but I can only mumble with this ball gag in. I hate drolling on the fancy lingerie she has me in because tomorrow I know I will be hand washing it whilst wearing a big old butt plug. Maybe sometime later I can give you a better response but she just told me I was hungry and she is offering me a clam, as it was, to eat. Dan

Um, can I venture to give a grown up response? Your biological mating decisions are determined before you are born; both gender and gender preference are on a sliding scale and biologically they do not change. What does change is social acceptance of behaviors. So what may be acceptable or practiced now does not mean there has been change in the makeup of folks writ large vis-a-vis gender. There is no way of knowing specifically if the gender preference scale has changed at all over the ages. I suppose you could compare Kinsey's first study with the University of Indiana's last study but I think that may be useless because people lie about sex, and people lie on surveys. You like what you like; ain't no changing that. There are, however, options about your personal behavior. Personal behavior should just be that, personal. It only needs to be shared with whomever may be harmed. If we were roommates I would not give a damn if you drank out of the milk carton because I'm lactose intolerant. Keep this in mind, practice honesty.

This is a little off topic but would it not be nice if POF included mail stats when you mail or get mail from someone. Stats would include how many e-mails you received, how many you replied to, how many you read/deleted and how many you initially sent. I think the last would be especially helpful to the women, I think women would be more likely to respond to someone who sends out fewer letters as a opposed to someone who carpet bombs anyone within 25 miles or less then 3 years older then him. Just saying.

maybe one of the reasons women tend to admire them is because when we see a large, strong man's hand entwined with the smaller woman's hand, we think of protection. Absolutely. The protection thing speaks to us at a primitive level, the level of attraction that tracks back to cave-dwelling days when roles were very defined and protection was hugely desirable. Nature needs women to feel attracted to men, else as a species humans would die out. I think the protection thing is about anthropology and not sociology. (Actually, I think social standards are just the peace treaty men and women developed because we are so different). The oversimplified dichotomy is this; women either choose "bad boys" or "rich boys". Bad boys the thuggish/jerk type have shown a propensity to do things physically dangerous for fun. The theory is that if they do that for fun they will do that to protect their offspring. Rich boys I'll put you on a pedestal present intrinsically the idea of protection in a different way. You will always have a roof over your head and food on the table. Think back to HS..... most women like the QB or the guy with the nice car. Same idea. What does biology say about necks I don't know but there are two t-shirt tests. In one test women had their immunity systems tested to see what medical problems were more or less likely to affect them. They were then asked to smell t-shirts that men slept in for two nights and pick the smell they were most attracted to. The women tended to pick men whose immunity systems were different from their own. That would then result in healthier offspring. The second one is really spooky. A group of women were asked to grade men by their physical appearance. These men were then asked to sleep in a t-shirt for a few nights and then the group of women were asked to smell the t-shirts and try to decide what smell was most attractive. The women ranked them exactly the same both times.

DISCLAIMER: Last time I wrote about evolutionary biology on this site I left with about 7 rectums. If you are not open to new ideas read no further. One of the findings of evolutionary biologist when they asked "what do women find physically attractive in men" was symmetry. It's not something that is thought about its just years of evolution. The theory is that the more symmetrical a person is the healthier that person is; consequently that person is good choice for mating. In one test pictures were taken of men and women were asked to "grade" their looks. Then these pictures were taken and were "photoshopped" so that the person was perfectly symmetrical. Again the photo's were graded and all of the male subjects were then considered better looking when made symmetrical. The theory is that you look at hands (and feet too) to see if they match each other. On the other hand the women that men find most physically attractive are "average". There are some 225 different geometrical measurements that evolutionary biologist have taken of human faces. The closer women are to being "average" the more attractive men find them. Examples of measurements are the bottom of the nose and the bottom of the ears should be lined up; the center line of the eyes and the top of the ears should match; when looking straight ahead the width of the mouth should proximate the width of the pupils. You are all now allowed to yell, scream, and call me an idiot.
