Favorite Dog Breed?
Posted: 3/17/2007 10:40:43 AM
I've had a lot of dogs throughout my life, but my favorite was one of my Goldens. She and I soooo bonded! I've had a collie, beagle, sheepdog, goldens, terrior, border collie. Suprisingly, my Goldens and even my terrior mix had way more personality than my tri-color border collie. He was obsessive/compulsive, but a good dog, nevertheless.

Next I really want a Pembroke Corgie and a Golden together. I think Corgies are so funny looking in a really cute way and my vet tells me they have the outgoing personality of a Golden, so I think a Corgie and Golden would be a fun combo together. So many kewl breeds and so little time. I'd love to have a Bernese Mountain Dog, Clumber Spaniel, Bearded Collie and so many more. Just not enough time to enjoy them all in one lifetime!!

Oh Sweet, it's maddening! I return to POF, look at the mens' profiles and remember that all the men I've met here are losers! And there's been a lot of 'em! So disappointing...

How long does it take for you to “size up” someone? How often are you wrong?
Posted: 1/14/2007 7:26:33 PM
Those of you that say you're usually accurate in your quick decisions of others have yet to answer One Beach's queries about how you would possibly know unless you continue to communicate with them. I find that her queries and points are well taken. I also have to side with D6 when I weigh in on this subject. Of course, we all have distorted views of our abilities and selves, and we like to think we evaluate others accurately and quickly. I think the truth is that we pigeon hole others and make quick decisions. I find that some folks put out "red flags" immediately, but others, you can't tell that they'll stand you up for your next meeting until you actually keep it! It can be maddening!

Hi Thud,

I find that when I have a "meet & greet" with men, the men decide that they like (or dislike) my looks very quickly. If they like me initially, they start asking me what I think. I am ambivilent to answer because I don't base my opinions all on looks like men often do. Personality is much more important to me, so I tell them, "I'm still evaluating." It seems to put them off a bit.

Then they start pressuring me for some groping action or even more explicit action as soon as they determine that they like me enough... even though I'm not ready for such a step yet. How do I stop this vicious cycle. I like some of them quite a bit, if they'd just back off and treat me like a lady. Men need to learn how to finesse women rather than just try to bole them over!

The most bizarre thing ive encountered with a girl
Posted: 12/31/2006 9:22:35 PM
So if this is the most bizarre thing you've ever encountered with a gal online, then you need to become much more savvy in online encounters. Folks take each other for a ride all the time here. Be more careful, ya dork!! Don't just throw yourself out there to be chit upon by folks who are less than courteous. D'oh!

If you think there's any chance that your rib is puncturing any organs, than you better get it checked out, but if it's just broken rib, WTF, it will heal on it's own I suspect.... Of course I'm no doctor... I only play one online. ;-)

Does a guy's voice matter?

Blaze, I understand totally, but I think you're being really shallow. I, of all people, am totally turned on by a sexy voice, but I would never make that a deal breaker! Likewise, I try not to make looks a total dealbreaker, but try as I may, chemistry is a consideration. BTW, check out the voice of "The Last Real Man." OMFG..... sexy sexy sexy!!!!!

Unusual pets...
Posted: 9/30/2006 5:04:05 PM
I'm sorry for your loss of Frank. Poor lil fly, but according to Animal Planet, flies are the grossest extreme beings on the planet, so I can't feel too badly about your loss of Frank.

He has probably alighted on dog chit and then carried that dog chit into your home and dropped some on you food. Lovely, huh? In addition, flies spew goo on their planned feast before eating it. Oh joy! Not to mention their newborn maggots, which we all know eat ONLY dead and decaying flesh.

Now when it comes to unusual pets, I had a boyfriend back in the '70's who had a great dog with, coincidently, the same name as mine—Sara. He used to call "Sara!" and we'd both come running! So I got a hermit crab (college apartment, ya know?) and named him Dave in honor of my boyfriend.

I think Cougar has hit the nail on the head. Quit playing with his affections, girlfriend. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to just have a fook buddy without dynamics changing over time. One of you is bound to become enamoured and then someone's feelings get hurt!

Bill, please forgive me. I know I got weird on you. Please don't block me. I will make amends and show you that I'm not totally wacked! I was having issues and I know that what I said to you was way weird from your point of view. Of course, your gender has nothing to do with good and bad men and women! Although you may never talk to me again, you'd know if you gave me another chance, that I'm really a fun person who's relatively adjusted, despite what's transpired. I think we all know that on occasion, the opposite gender does things that just push us over the edge. Please accept my deepest apologies, Bill.

Best wishes,

Posted: 5/6/2006 7:43:18 PM
I almost always respond, and I'm almost always very courteous. I see no reason not to be. I simply say:

Thank you for your nice message. I'm very flattered, but after reviewing your profile, I don't think we'd be compatible. Nevertheless, I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your quest.

I rarely have any problem with this response and sometimes men have even thanked me and wished me the best of luck as well.

Most romantic OR strongest couple bond you know of .....
Posted: 4/6/2006 8:29:58 PM
How bout this one: My folks just observed their 55th wedding anniversary. My mother is in late mid-stage Alzheimer's Disease. My father was her sole caregiver for about 5 years until I moved in to care for both of them a year and half ago cause he is 80, has emphysema, and can't handle the demands on his own.

They still kiss and hug frequently and avow their love to one another every day. She still surprises us sometimes with witty things we'd never think she could still come up with, like, "Hey handsome. You gonna watch TV with me?" He tells people that when he dies, if they perform an autopsy, we'll know that he died of a broken heart.

Wish I could find love like that!

Hold on, Simply!!! You can do it. You ARE stronger than the cravings and the cravings pass!! Don't forget, you are NOW a NONSMOKER! And don't forget how disappointed you'll be with yourself after making it 7 days without ciggies! Do you really wanna go through this all over again? Hell no! So be strong and go do something to distract yourself.

MesNafugal? Squatting in the corner? WTF??

And Alun, actually "lie" would be the proper word there rather than "lay." Think of it like "sit" and "set." You sit yourself down but set a book down. Likewise, you lie yourself down but lay a book down.

Do I need to start a thread? Petunia's Grammar 101?? I'd love that! Maybe I will. Wanna help me, Eddie? We can invite POF'ers to pose their grammar queries to us there.

Okay then! I am an editor by profession, and you can all bet that I'm monitoring very closely your grammar and speeling. Had to check out your profile, Eddie, cause I find nothing sexier than a man that has great command of English! LOVE your pup! What a cutie pie he is!

OT: Steve's an idiot. Sam rocks, and I don't think for one minute Sam was attempting to deceive Bee. Just cause that poster gal above had a horrible experience with the guy who was a total slob and ate 3 pizzas, doesn't mean that that was the situation with Sam & Bee, FFS! Sam cares about himself and has be extremely sensitive to others' feelings throughout this ordeal. That goes a long way in my book!

Edit:
But I have to say, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when I read that line! That is someone who seriously had "dating malice of forethought"

I would say that.....ahhhh......he may have had a bit of a self-esteem issue there.....

Oh and BTW, I hope I wasn't the Barbie on crack you were flaming, even if I do post a pic of Crack Ho Barbie. And FYI, all you FranGal haters, she's always nice to me!

It's okay Jenn! I was there too about 3-4 years ago after my divorce, and I rediscovered my sexuality in the same way. I thought it was gone forever, and lo and behold, it returned when I jettisoned that huge anchor! This is a safe place to learn about what's out there, what it's like returning to the dating field and relearning about yourself! Have fun with it! Exploring does not make you a ho!

Beeutiful,

I don't think you were shallow to not be physically attracted to him, but you are shallow when you say he did it to himself. That's really shallow. For those that don't have eating and weight issues, it's easy to say that those that do have such issues do it to themselves. The truth is that none of us know the profound roll geneticism and physiology play in appetite and weight gain.

I had the gastric bypass 1-1/2 years ago. I've since lost 150 lbs. Of course, I've had very little appetite over the past 1-1/2 years, but guess what. After all I've been through and the enormous changes in my entire gastro system and eating habits, I'm stunned that my appetite is returning again with full force! Is that my fault? It's fooking scary for me! Perhaps he has an appetite or cravings that you can't even fathom. Things like appetite, I'm convinced, lie deep in our genetics and physiological make up. Give the guy a break, for Gawd sake!

I agree he certainly should have let you know his size before meeting you. I always did when I was big, but to say it's his own fault that he's fat is just shallow.

Is it just me...or do woman lack confidence?
Posted: 3/8/2006 12:14:41 AM
Garofalo, I think you've most likely only been with young women. I can tell you without doubt that as we women mature, we gain a lot more self-confidence. None of us have perfect bodies. At my age, I don't really care if I'm not perfect. In fact, I embrace imperfections in the men I adore, and I certain don't ruin the moment fussing over how I look. I do what I can when I can, but when it's time to be seen nekky, there's certainly nothing I can do about it at the moment except have a great time! I think the confidence I exude in bed can transcend my body's imperfections, and if not, fook him!
