IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing

Whenever I try to Im with someone I get a round circle with a line going through it and the box disappears. I have already tried to do everything suggested with allowing pop-ups from the toolbar. any suggestions as to how I can IM again?
