Revealing one's income
Posted: 2/4/2010 5:28:26 PM
What ...... We have here ...... Is a classic case of ...... GREED!!
I can think of three groups that would welcome this requirement ... let me outline them by influence, bottom to top.
(1) The group looking for a 'sugar daddy / momma'. These folk are the ones who want to be consumers, thus attracting advertisers, so they will lie about their income so as to hook the richest prospects.
(2) The governmental group, always on the lookout for more ways to collect money, and ways to catch those they veiw as defrauding the taxes. Seven hundred billion has to be found somewhere, and that is just one country.
(3) The advertisers group, you see them everywhere, thus they likely have the most infuence, most of the time you don't pay attention unless it is something you want, and to efficiently find what you want, they need to start somewhere, somewhere like your income. This group also would like to target more of the first group, the ones successful at being consumers, and so the loop is compleated.
Whether it is true or not, I think the lowest income setting would be the most advantagous to me because in the past week I have encountered several people, who would fall into this level, who where cheerful and happy in their profession, also I will avoid the ladies seeking a sugardaddy (sadly I'll also be missing the honest ladies that have been more succesful in thier careers), and for the targetted advertising, I will be getting the listings of schools in case I should want to find the pleasure of learning new things .... As the singer Meatloaf sang, two outta three ain't bad!
Just a few thoughts on this invasion of privacy!!!!

Social Anxiety
Posted: 5/2/2009 12:09:50 PM
Hey Halo, I tend to be quite shy as well, but I have been getting out to the events a fair bit and so I got to know a few people, including one older lady who described doing the exact same thing as you did with going to Clancys not long ago. It seems that going slow and getting to know people one at a time, and have something to do other than sitting and watching, is the most comfortable way to get invovled, I don't know if you will get over your problems, but even getting out of the house can be rewarding when one is shy. I have only missed a couple Clancy's events, due to enjoying playing pool, why don't you join me, and I'll make you my pool partner for the night (playing as a team) and maybe that would help you, we could put together more details in mail if you would like

DANCE NIGHT at the MARINE PUB BURNABY SEPT 6th 2008
Posted: 9/8/2008 8:13:41 PM
Stardust4u ... Thank you for the music to get those fishies on their feet, and to your band fellows as well. I think it is quite likely that we can put together another gathering of fish for your next playing date, maybe even a larger group, since there are so many that missed this time. Just to pique some fishies interest, I was both surprised and delighted with hearing you sing AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell'
Until next I see, and hear you singing ... Mysman

I think I might just have an interest in seeing a game, and I have a small propane barbecue I could dig up, and I even have found a ride for the barbecue. See you there.

Opinions on Half-Sleeve Tattoos on the opposite sex
Posted: 4/30/2008 12:33:38 AM
Hmm, seems I have an odd eye for things then, I often thought naked ladies where a work of art, guess I'll have to check that one off my list of possible subjects. OT I rarely find much in the way of tattoos attractive, but I can certainly respect the artistic talent that goes into drawing them.

The things you hold firm and will not change.

I am unique (just like every other person you see) so why should I change my form of unique because I'm perceived as being different. I will learn things, and that will cause some change, but I will remain unique.

Anyone have superstitions?
Posted: 3/12/2008 1:09:05 AM
another one for the fishermen .. pink sky at night sailor's delight, pink sky in the morning, sailor take warning
I admit I don't remember the exact details of this meteorological phenomenon but this is based on fact, not superstition.
This one tends to be on the open seas mostly, as I remember, pink sky is when clouds are formed on the horizon as the sun is below the horizon, in the morning it has an indication that a storm is on the way (batten down the hatches!) not 100% of the time ,but often enough to be taken seriously.
One superstition I favor is the one about if you step on a spider, you will make it rain ..... though I haven't seen any reference to how long after you have squished the arachnid, so I find it is a true one

Deep thoughts, what if life exists beyond earth
Posted: 3/10/2008 1:12:54 PM
I quite agree that the possibility of humankind's hubris to think of themselves as the only viable mix of proteins in the universe is very remote, though I understand from an astronomy level we are in a remote part, and even a dead end arm, of the universe, so our exposure to other viable protein (or as was pointed out, other chemical mixtures) is highly limited. I is sad that we still maintain individuals who's greatest ancestor was the one who remained, vainly, in the tree they where born in while all their friends and family explored the nearby trees. Where do I find more
.... happy

And then there is the foul situation where the owner of the company is the one who is two-faced ,and thinks of himself as a 'hands-on' employer ..... where is the real work out there?

Do I win anything ,I have 4,750 hits on Google ? ... I must be such a player ,but I'm confused ,wouldn't such a player have dates lined up for concerts like Nickleback and Scorpions that are in the near future?? ........................ oops I just got another kit on Google

do guys not like girls who think too much?
Posted: 6/6/2007 8:54:50 AM
Thinking is not fashionable until you are at least in your 40s ,this goes for men and women ,the trick about thinking until then is to keep your mouth shut about 80% of what you think about ,even if you are analyzing as well. Just one thinkers opinion. ........... Come to think of it ,this will also include things that involve thinking ,like being observant. Happy Fishing

POOR DRIVING HABITS
Posted: 6/3/2007 9:43:58 AM
you have it all wrong ,those are not merge lane ,they are passing lanes ,you have to race up to the end of the 'passing lane' then cut off some person doing the speed limit ,or better just so you can get ahead ....... I hope all can see that I am being sarcastic ,but this tends to be my pet peeve with drivers I see out there ,even though I mostly only drive a 1 ton delivery van when I'm on the road

What do men want?
Posted: 6/2/2007 4:25:47 PM
I would say at basic level I want companionship ,that gal that can make the rest of the competitive ,backstabbing ,kick you when you are down ,world go away by just holding my hand. And I would want to do the same for her. I know their out there ,just got to hunt 'em down 'cause they seem to hide well

Online personalities?
Posted: 3/15/2007 7:23:52 PM
I can be adept at using varying personalities due to involvement in role playing games (dungeons and dragons type if you are interested) but since I am looking on here for someone in a long term sense ,it makes no sense to me to use such personality changes on here ,that would be akin to being a klutz ,but trying to attract someone by claiming you are a sword fencing champion .... ( I ment to put that sword into my foot .. OUCH!!! )

Home cooked meals vs restaurant dates
Posted: 3/6/2007 9:55:23 PM
Defiantly home cooked !
I did this once for a woman ,she didn't believe I could cook and was humoring me ,she was so floored that she had trouble keeping her mouth closed when she tasted it ...
then later in the relationship I had cooked a pasta dish ,and that became her most requested meal.

I am in agreement with many of the suggestions presented
Softball .. (more than one game in the year)
Paintball and lazer tag (seems much alike and I have some interest in both)
Horse riding could be interesting ,though I've worked with horses in the past for 15 years I never rode one
And all of these would be kid friendly
and maybe getting regular pool nights for those cooler times we know are coming after the summer ,would be a nice offset to the bar & dancing thing
