Single Parents and POA for health care for the kids
Posted: 11/23/2009 8:44:33 AM
The mother working in billing has a need to see certain parts of your records. You can't prevent that. Discussing it outside of the hospital is a HIPAA violation. You should complain to the hospital if it bothers you.

BTW-I believe if a child is brought in with life threatening injuries, consent for treatment is not necessary.
But, a power of attorney is a good idea if you're out of town and your children are staying with someone else. Usually your local hospital or doctor's office will even have a form to fill out if you wish to give someone a medical POA for your children. It's fairly straightforward.

Please Help with a Math Problem...$350.00 a year?
Posted: 11/20/2009 9:04:25 AM

Im assumeing 350 total americans...working folk may have little americans that also need to be on the policy...

Again, there aren't 350 million working Americans to 'spread' the total cost across.
Therefore, any tax, or premium to you and working americans, will be much more than $350 /year.

rape/molestation victims and dating.....
Posted: 11/19/2009 8:50:56 AM

It's been my experience that when telling someone( that i eventually get serious about dating) they really don't seem to handle it well or they think i am going to have intimacy issues or am too damaged....

If you don't have issues, or feal damaged, as you call it, then you should tell them that as well.
I dated a girl in high school/college who told me her step-brother molested her. I don't recall exactly where we were in the relationship (toward the end, or if it was already over) but honestly, it did make me wonder sometimes what she was thinking when we were intimate. The last thing I would want would be to remind her of that, or be thought if in the same light as that. Just thinking about it now 'hurts' to know she went through it

I think that's probably a geographic/cultural thing. Where I live there are no 'strangers'.

BTW 'Best Kept Secret' the picture with the rooster, would that be on Westgate Dr by any chance? I miss G-Vegas.

Confused by my hormones - having sex with boyfriend for first time
Posted: 11/19/2009 7:49:03 AM

I know I want to sleep with him, I want to do everything with him, but I can't seem to make up my mind on when.

I agree with him. If you have doubt, you're not ready.

I feel like I missed a good opportunity, and probably the last chance to be alone in my house for a while.

Doesn't he have a home you could go to? Why does it have to be your house?

How long have you been dating? Personally speaking, I wouldn't want to assume anything in the early stages of a relationship and wouldn't want my partner to think that's all I wanted was sex.
Or, perhaps he doesn't like 'nooners'.
Or, he wants sex on his terms, ie, when he's not 'reading or something'

My opinion is, as long as you're self sufficient, ie not taking govt money, then you can let the father off the hook. Ultimately, it is his responsibility, and if you need money or insurance for the child, it's his responsibility.

How can I put my video onto a disc?
Posted: 11/12/2009 7:53:58 AM

could they put them on a DVD for me?

Yes. I'm embarrassed to say I'm no expert in this. I copy mine to the hard drive, they play fine from there. After burning them to DVD, they play choppy, the video is behind the audio. I don't know how to properly do this

how do I tell how much space on my memory card the videos are taking up?

The camera should have come with a USB data cable. Plug the camera into your PC, it will show up as a disk drive under 'My Compter', probably something like 'removable drive'
You may see in My computer 'total size' and 'free space'
If you don't, right click the drive letter and select properties. You'll get a nice colored pie graph showing you used and free space

I would sign up with a photo hosting site, flickr, photobucket, snapfish, shutterfly etc.
Upload the photos to the website to keep them 'safe'. You can also have them burn the photos to CD for you, make calendars, etc. I have years of photos on my web host

NCAA Football Season 2009
Posted: 11/12/2009 7:37:12 AM

but how do u come to a playoff system with out using polls?

Conference champions.
The deck is stacked against non BCS schools, if you consider "No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year." Also consider Big12, SEC, et al often have multiple teams in BCS games. More money for the conference, more money for the schools, better facilities, stacks the deck against non-BCS conferences. Money
Let's not forget the convenient specific case the BCS set up for Notre Dame. Why? Because Notre Dame has the largest following in college football, which means eyeballs on TV and asses in seats. Money.

NCAA Football Season 2009
Posted: 11/11/2009 12:37:09 PM

so u have a problem with the outta conf. sch the gators play but not the 1 texas plays?

yes, I do, the crux of my post is that polls are flawed and stupid, thus, any ranking is stupid.
Especially ranking teams before they even play. How many top 10 pre-season teams aren't even ranked, now? It also provides a bigger hill to climb for teams not ranked, but may go undefeated.
The BCS scoring relies on polls (and computer rankings based on sampling human opinions),thus, the BCS is inherently biased and flawed. The BCS conferences collude to keep the pie to themselves. It's only a matter of time before Congress gets involved from an anti-trust standpoint. Just my opinion.

Div I college football needs a playoff. The only ones who say we don't are the ones who are benefiting from this system.

NCAA Football Season 2009
Posted: 11/10/2009 7:55:23 AM

FL shouldnt of won the game to LSU or Arkansas.

It would seem that for the last 4 weeks, either Florida or Alabama has benefited from poor officiating. The emerging opinion among some sports journalists is that the SEC will do anything to have one of their teams in the BCS.
I've said for a long time the pollsters are biased and skewed towards those who lose earlier in the season. I don't know how else Florida can lose at home, to Ol Miss (which I believe was unranked at that time) and still end up playing for the title over a 1 loss team like Texas, simply b/c Texas lost at the end of the year and didn't have time to 'make it up'

I don't know how Florida can be ranked #1 when they play tough teams like Charleston Southern, Troy and that exciting matchup to come against Florida Int'l.

The polls are stupid, suck and the BCS sucks. Networks collude to get the marquee names in the games they televise b/c of revenue. It's all about money, period, point blank, end of story.

Single Parent and Racism (for the kids?)
Posted: 11/4/2009 8:10:16 AM

I'm not asking that. I'm asking "as a asian male, should I even bother emailing woman (if they're non asian) who are single parents?"

Single parent has nothing to do with it. It's a personal preference. Although we are in a multi cultural world, not everyone will date outside of their ethnicity/race. And, it goes both ways. I bet there are Asian women who will not date caucasian men, and so on.

it's normal, my son had one when he was 2-3 or so, even had a name for him. I haven't heard about him in a while. I wouldn't worry about it.
Whether its root cause is symptomatic of something else, that's possible. But, we are talking about an entire team, while you're playing football. It seems to be appropriate doesn't it?

My oldest brother is 12 years older than I. He was my little league coach, I remember going with him to his girlfriend's house when I was very young, but I don't know why. When my dad got sick, I practically lived with him for a summer.
For reasons I don't really know we're not as close now as we were when I was younger. I guess it's b/c we have our own families now.

Prunes or apple sauce for the constipation. Always mix in fruits during in his regular diet and it should help regulate him. It takes time for the constipation to work itself out.

If he won't eat the prunes, try the prune/apple sauce mix I think it is, Gerber makes it

humidifer for the congestion. They're very inexpensive

ok...i'm a 19 year old virgin
Posted: 10/26/2009 9:01:24 AM

i ride horses, really really hard (Not to be taken dirty) so will sex hurt me AS much as a normal girl?
is it true that poppin a girls cherry is a turn on for guys? if so, why. is there a physical difference.
is sex something that i should just lunge into (if i'm sure its what i want) and just rip that first bandaid off...or better to work up to it but starting w oral and a whole bunch of other things that i have never done.
and another thing. this guy i'm crazy about refuses to date me, hes crazy about me cause i know he cant stay away, but he doesnt want to ruin my 'innocense' and not saying that i would give it to him...but is he being a douche or a prince?

See above for riding horses and tearing hymen

Taking a girl's virginity could be a turn on b/c it's your first, it's a badge of honor kind of thing for the guy to brag about, or prideful about. 'Hey, she liked me enough to have sex with me for the first time'. Make sense? It won't feel any better or worse to the guy

How you lose your virginity is up to you, whether you engage in foreplay is up to you.
I don't know why you would even consider sex if you haven't even engaged in oral sex and foreplay.

Hard to say why the guy is like that. Maybe he isn't into you sexually, and making up some bullshit line about your innocence is his way of 'letting you down' nicely.

Now that I've answered your questions, I'll say you need to date, experience all the other things you've never done before, just be a young adult, etc before you decide to lose your virginity.

Businesses Asking for Tips.
Posted: 10/23/2009 7:23:03 AM

So at the standard 1880 hour work year in the US,

It's 2080 hours per year.

Servers make $2.13 per hour

True, but it's up to the employer to make up the difference in the event that their wage plus tips does not equal the federally mandated minimum of $7.25
So 2080 hours times $7.25 it's roughly $15,000/yr that a server could expect to make, minimum.

The next time you want to be a sanctimonious douchebag

It looks to me like your replying to YNA6. If you read the his whole post, you'll see that where he lives, according to him, 10% of the price is a tip. So, you may want to lay off the tough guy, hyperbole, so that you don't come across as the douchebag.

Does this change your mind about spanking your child?
Posted: 10/23/2009 6:40:43 AM
My first thought is that 'correlation does not prove causation' From what I can gather, there is a correlation between the two, but no proof that spanking causes lower IQ. Spanking could be a symptom of other underlying issues within the family/society. That leads me to believe that the child's total environment probably isn't conducive to learning. I also found this while poking around about the article:
"a higher national level of economic development underlies both fewer parents using corporal punishment and a higher national IQ. " So, we could correlate higher incomes to higher IQ, and even infer that it's parents from lower socioeconomic strata that are likely to spank.

I'd like to see the methodology of the study to see if the researcher controlled for income levels and other environmental/sociological factors. Otherwise, we have a correlation
and no real proof.

Just b/c they use LED lights, doesn't mean they can't be replaced. Bad design may prevent that particular model/brand from having replacements, but I have LED light bulbs for nightlights, they can be replaced, booklights use LED light bulbs, they can be replaced.

Look for models that can use replacement bulbs, or buy 'std' models and use LED light bulbs for the energy savings.

Mother relinquishes all rights to her son because she can't afford his healthcare
Posted: 10/21/2009 7:26:43 AM
The child was ALREADY receiving Medicaid benefits. The child ALREADY had health insurance. I will point out that Medicaid is GOVERNMENT FUNDED, a PUBLIC OPTION
if you will. It is MEDICAID that is DICTATING the care of the child and had the necessary mandate that the treatment must provide some benefit, or they'll quit paying for it. What's the sense in paying for it, if it doesn't work?

You are making this out to be something that it is not.

I also note that the first thing the mother is quoted as saying was that the sheriff would arrest her for having an unruly child.
