Euchre In Scarborough/East Toronto
Posted: 9/21/2007 7:20:51 PM
I'd love to play Euchre (I'm open for other games too). And it's just down the road from my office. Any night but Tuesday for me...maybe Thursday?

Carpal Tunnel Surgery
Posted: 1/20/2007 6:07:38 PM
@makin memories

I've got Cubital Tunnel in both elbows (the Ulner nerve is pinched in the bone...this nerve is what they call the 'funny bone' ..not very funny). My doctor sent me to a Neurologist who did a nerve conduction test to figure out where the problem is. This is the best (probably only) way to determine where the problem is. The surgeon here in town that I went to though disagreed with the neurologist. So they sent me to Toronto General to a super specialist. Wow...that was over 2 hours of electrical impulse testing! But now, I've been told it's definitely in the elbows and surgery is the only cure.

Has anyone had this surgery? Apparently they make an incision at the elbow and move the nerve from the bone area to another spot under the muscle?

P.S. These injuries were both caused by slipping on ice and landing on my elbows a few years back. So make sure you wear elbow pads when doing any skating, etc.!!!

Women without credit
Posted: 11/20/2006 8:58:39 AM
I shared the Airmiles card with my ex. When he left, I called to use the points and got the same run around. Then I went to their website and signed up (using 'our' airmiles number) for online access. Once I had online access (and it is instant...no hassles), I was able to redeem the points for anything from their web. No questions asked. Anything sent may come in his name, but you can still use it. She might be able to do it this way and book the airline tickets as a gift to herself.

Good luck! Customer service seems to be getting worse all the time!

Dr Hook

hey delusionalgal ! Yep...got my ticket...picked it up today. Thanks for checking! I didn't want to take a chance at the door. I called the club the other day and was told they expected to have a sell out crowd..so no guarantees on door tickets.
Gonna try to get there early...maybe see you there.

I've heard about this place. What's it like? I was planning to try to see Dr. Hook. Sound like you have to get tickets in advance?

Toronto Euchre Bash 2006 Oct 20 - 23, 2006
Posted: 10/2/2006 8:07:56 PM
Sounds like this will be a blast. I've played many a Euchre tournament and lots of all-night home games, but nothing like what this looks to be. The bad part is that I'm not available that weekend.... Almost any other weekend...but that one. If anything changes though, I'll be sure to sign up.
re Online....I haven't played online in a while....Where's the best place these days?

LIVE BLUES - Chicago's in Oshawa - October 27th
Posted: 9/23/2006 6:03:08 PM
I really enjoyed it at Chicago's the last time. My first local POF outing...finally a chance to meet some of the fine people from here. I'm looking forward to this one. Chicago's is a good place with good music.

Anyone going early for dinner? And what time is considered early?

Back to School!
Posted: 8/21/2006 3:26:12 PM
My 'baby' is off to university this year. We'll be moving her to Laurentian in Sudbury over the long. Her and I are very close and this will be her first time away except for the occassional sleepover with girlfriends. I'm worried about how she'll make out on her own. She's worried that I'll do nothing but work and not do anything for fun!
It sure will be lonely and different. Guess I'll have to find some new company...

Bernzg - You went through this last year. Any tips?

I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!!
Posted: 8/15/2006 7:14:26 PM
First I want to say a great thanks to Kris and her helpers for all the work they did on organizing this...what an event it was! It was my first POF event. I had a blast and met some nice people there. And, amazingly, I had one match. Woo! Hoo! Also, I had kept a list of those I'd said yes to along with their name, number and POF name (if they offered it), so I was able to locate my one match...so I sent him a nice email saying hello. That was over a week ago. He read the email the day after I sent it. But no response at all ! Oh well...so much for that match. But it was an experience never to be forgotten.

POF GUINNESS ATTEMPT July 22nd HAMILTON

We have about reached our capacity though so if you havent preregistered with us all i can say is GOOD LUCK !

Does this mean it is too late to register or to get in? Since your email isn't working, I'd like to know before I arrange to drive there if there's any openings. I've been away for a bit with limited (read that as SLOW) access to the internet. I guess this is what I get for 'thinking about it' for too long before I went away!

So...what's the chances? Is there still room?

I was looking forward to my first POF outing. And just remembered that I can't.. :( ..that is the weekend my daughter turns 19! We're supposed to be going to Niagara. If that falls through, I'll try to get to le skratch. (I don't think it's safe to bring her there, though! lol)
Hope to catch up with all you pof'rs soon.

dancing = lovemaking...
Posted: 9/15/2005 5:22:11 PM
My dance instructors always said that...

" Dancing is the vertical expression of horizontal desire "

If they were as passionate alone as they were on the dance floor.... whew!!!
We could only hope to have the same... now where's my partner!!...

Ballroom dancing (waltz, tango, etc.) lessons

P.S. This would be held in the Durham area.. For those that aren't familiar with it, Hampton is a little town east of Oshawa on Taunton Road. I actually intended to post it in the Ontario thread but it seems I missed the shot.. oops

Ballroom dancing (waltz, tango, etc.) lessons
Posted: 9/10/2005 4:18:54 PM
I used to take ballroom dance lessons and found them fun and great exercise (not to mention how romantic these dances can be). We would do waltzes, foxtrot, cha-cha, tango, rhumba, etc. Now I'd like to get back into it again..only this time at a dance school...there's a good one in Hampton. Problem is you need a partner...and I no longer have a partner. They don't have lessons for singles.

Soooooo....I wuz thinkin'...

Maybe, if we could get enough interest, we could see about organizing our own group lessons. Sort of like private lessons but with a group of singles. I would be willing to talk with the school...see if they are willing to do this (don't know why not, they offer private lessons now), find out the price, etc. As for the day, these usually are held on weeknights...1 hour sessions.
And then, we would have our own group of dancing queens and kings... .. There are some great dances in Toronto (and sometimes here) that are perfect for putting this into practice. Would be fun to have a bunch to dance with...

Interested? Thoughts?

This is my first time trying to organize something here..so please forgive an mistakes.. Also...how do they setup that 'click here to sign up' that I've seen in other forums?

euchre anyone?
Posted: 9/9/2005 8:26:00 PM
Euchre? You mean there really are still euchre players out there? lol . I love euchre...and quite good too, if I do say so myself. Would be good if we had some around the Durham area or Toronto. Online is ok...but it can't beat slapping that loner on the table!

Singles Dance
Posted: 9/9/2005 7:56:29 PM
There's another group..The Single Professional's network that has singles dance all around Toronto...looks like every Saturday. They usually have them in the nice hotels...like the Ramada Inn or Sheraton...dressy affairs. Anyone been to one of them? What is it like?
Their website is www.singleparties.com
