UFC 104: Machida vs. Rua announced
Posted:

Shogun is far more than just a leg locker. He is a ferocious striker with a lot of power with some of the best kicks in the game. He throw unorthodox kicks for MMA and will take chances like the kick he attempted against Rampage.
On the other hand he didnt all throw any soccer kicks. Soccer kicks arent even allowed in the UFC. Just in Japan, where he did use them while with Pride.
I was pulling for Machida, but thought Shogun won the fight. For me it came down to the final round. I had it even until then, Shogun clearly won the fifth so IMO the fight. That was by far the very best Shogun ever. This Shogun would kill the Shogun in Pride. He wasnt his usual sloppy, wild self. He didnt fight in the typical Chute Boxe style. Great fight!

What man or band is the Godfather of Heavy Metal? Let the debate begin!
Posted:

Its not even close, Black Sabbath all the way. They were the true originators of metal music. If you hear Sabbath live with modern technology they are amazingly heavy.
Hendrix, Cream, the Yardbirds, Iron Butterfly, and of course Led Zeppelin are all influential in various ways. But when it comes to true metal, its all about Black Sabbath.

Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings

More BS, they will make sure to attack metal. A big problem with the country these days is that no one is held accountable for their own actions. A few years ago all the blame was on Marilyn Manson. I listen to a lot of black and death metal and havent killed anyone.

Shogun is a devastating striker but overall Machida is a horrible match up for him. Machida is very technical and precise. While Shogun is very wild, with poor technique. I expect Machida to pick Shogun apart for a stoppage in the first or second. That said, Shogun has a chance if he can land a big shot. The one weakness in Machida is that he keeps his chin straight up without any protection.

Favorite MMA fighter?

People under rate Machida because there is a misconception among MMA fighters and Fans that Muy Thai is the superior form of stand up...that is why Silva is so well liked /he has great Muy Thai....
I dont find Machida is at all being overlooked. He is very well respected by hardcore fans. To be honest though muay thai is the best striking art for MMA. Its good because its good in close with the clinch and knees. Its also good in the mid range with the fists and elbows. From a distance the shins are dvastating. There are various aspects of all arts that can be usefull in MMA but overall muay thai is the best overall art. Machida is able to use his karate for an advantage. He is an amazing striker.

Pacquiao vs. De La Hoya

MidnightStorms hit the nail on the head. Oscar will be too big and too strong for the much smaller Manny. Because of that Manny wont have the big power advantage hes use to. Oscar is still pretty quick, so I think he will be able to catch Manny enough and in time it will wear him down. Oscar should go back to snapping that jab for this fight to keep Manny at bay.

What is or was 'your most Anticipated UFC Fight

Bmc I totally correct here, Chuck is still WAY more marketable to the avg and even hardcore fans over Machida. Right now Machida is a much better fighter, but Chuck is still loved by the fans. He brings it everytime and has one punch KO power. Chuck cant keep losing but he still has a few in him to still be one of the top draws in the UFC. Machida has a lot of fans but he also has a lot of detractors who say he is boring. UFC isnt gonna bank on Machida to sell a PPV, while Chuck could headline against Houston Alexander and would get a lot of buys.

I can understand why people would say Machida is broing. I find him very entertaining. His striking skills are amazing. He has tremendous timing and movement. He is a pure counter striker with beautiful combos.
As for me, the most anticipated fight for me was probably Chuck/Tito I or Randy/Vitor II, wow what a let down that fight was. I thought Vitor would actually show up. Chuck/Wandy was up there as well.

Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Posted:
11/26/2008 9:03:37 AM
I believe in ghosts or spirits. Just most people arent tuned enough to their senses to feel them. The energy is there. Man is growing further away each day from his senses, which is a sad thing. As a whole our intuition has suffered due to "progress." Most people cant feel the energy of spirits and the world around him anymore.

Bmc, I dont think its so much that Urijah didnt respect Brown. Thats just his style. He takes chances in almost every fight. Its just he usually gets away with it but didnt this time. That is one of the things makes me really like Urijah, he brings it everytime. He will give up his back or try something crazy because he is so confident.

UFC 92 predictions

Ill go with Forrest over Rashad. I think he is going to be too big and too strong physicaly for Rashad. Rashad is very elusive but Forrest moves much better than Chuck does. Chuck is better with somoene coming at him, Rashad didnt. Forrest has more options than Chuck. It should be a great, difficult fight. I think in the end Forrest will win, probably by decision. Forrest has a very underrated ground game.
Nog/Mir, Nog is better at everything than Mir. Mir lacks cardio, this should be a great ground fight if it goes there. I think Nog will keep it standing, and take advantage of Mirs lack of a stand up game. If it goes to the ground it should be great until Mir gasses. Id love to see Mir come it top shape and really focused but he hasnt looked good in a long time. Even then he still lacked cardio. Nog is a machine for a HW. Pulling for Mir but dont give him much of a chance.
Rampage may finally get the win over Wandy. Im anticipating this fight above all the others. The other two fights in Pride were classics. Wandy won both, but it each were tough fights that could have gone either way. Rampage is a better fighter, while Wandy has sort of plateaued since then. I think Rampage will use his boxing to beat Wandys wild style. Should be another barn burner. Could go either way, it will be interesting to see how Rampage shows up mentally.
I dont really care much for the other fights listed. I pick Dollaway and Kongo.

The Biggest UFC Fight of All TIme?
Posted:
11/21/2008 6:36:27 AM
Its a tough choice. I definitely dont think Couture/Lesnar was the biggest fight in UFC history. It was billed as such because they were HWs. Plus Randy is a legend and Brock comes in with his rasslin back ground, as well as freakish size and strength. As a whole I feel the HWs are the most overrated division in all combat sports. People have a thing with size. Often times the fights are overhyped and the skill is far less. There are obvious exceptions.
Overall I have to agree that Forrest/Bonnar I was the biggest fight. Its what put the UFC over the top. Its bigger than ever and TUF and the ensuing finale is was brought the UFC to mainstream America.
Chuck/Tito I was also a bigger fight. Tito/Ken I was another huge fight at that time.

I agree with OneMoreTimeWithFeeling, if you dont know what youre doing a tongue ring wont miraculously make you good at oral. As a whole there isnt that much difference. I think its more a matter of if the girl is good at it or not. Although if she is using something like ice then that makes a huge difference. Overall though I think its more on if he/she is good at oral or not. I do like the pierced tongue on a girl though. Mostly cause Im often attracted to ecclectic looking people.

Lesnar vs. Couture

I gave the first round to Brock. Randy had the momentum at the end of the round and morally won it by not being dominated and holding his on. As well as Brock appeared to be a bit tired while Randy was fresh. Points wise though Brock won it with the take downs and landing the more effective strikes.

Where's the real fawking metal??

Metal elitest crack me up. Just cause you dont like it doesnt mean its not metal. I hate Slipknot but they are metal. I love how metal elitest try to discount them being metal. Im open minded in the bands I enjoy. For the most part Im into the heavier, faster, and more brutal side of metal. But I also like the melodic stuff from the 80s as well as some hair metal.
If you want to hear speed. Check out Krisiun as was mentioned. By far the fastest band Ive ever seen live. Just insane speed.
Goatwhore is another great band. American black metal at its finest. In the vein of Venom and Celtic Frost.
Opera IX is a great black metal band with a female singer(on the Black Opera).
Carpathian Forest, more brutal, satanic Norwegian black metal.
Akercocke is a brutal band. Very dark and evil with an atmospheric sound. Great blackened death metal from England.

Symphonic Metal

I really like the bands that use the symphonic sound for athmosphere and dont allow it to override the guitars like some of the Norwegian and other black metal bands have done. Cradle of Filth and Opera IX are two great bands IMO, who use the symphonic sound to help create a darker sound in their music.

I felt Brock would win because he is too big and too strong for Randy. It has nothing to do with Randys age. Brock would beat Randy by a large percentage no matter how many times they fought. Its simple, Randy doenst fair well with fighters much larger than him with a wrestling background. To the newer fans check out Randys fights with Ricco and Barnett for further proof. Nothing against Randy, he is a legend and one of the all time greats. Its just Brock is a bad match up, that simple. Brock is damn scary with his combination of power and size. He will be hell if he continues to train to improve. He is still very green, but when he did sit down on punches and knees it was evident the power he has. Also, it wasnt a lucky blow. It just shows how powerful Brock is. Remember he broke Herrings orbital bone with one punch.
I want to add that Im very happy to see Brock show Randy all the respect in the world before and after the fight.

Prejudging By Looks
Posted:
11/16/2008 11:38:12 AM
Nothing wrong with being confident. Im extremely self confident in myself. I work out hard and do the things necessary to keep up my looks. Im a massage therapist and Ive done personal training before. I want to get back into training in the future. So those jobs help out as well. I need a confident woman, I find it very sexy. A confident woman doesnt have to "show" herself off for attention. She knows she looks good and will come off as classy. Which is way sexier. With all that said, looks arent everything. What a person brings to the table outside of looks is far more important. The depth of personality, intelligence, sincerity, etc. Those attributes are far more important in the overall spectrum than looks.

Interracial all the way..

Great thread. I have no problems dating outside of my race. Honestly, from what I see New Orleans is a pretty open minded city when it comes to interracial dating. At least for the most part. When Ive been on dates with black girls I havent really seen the stares that I would have expected. It might be in part because I dont look white, Im Native American with some white as well. Many think Im Spanish. Anyways, I try to look at the person more than anything. So Ive dated many different types of races, colors, creeds, etc.

First off, I too have personal trained and am a Licensed Massage Therapist. You have no base what so ever for your argument. Our freedoms are being slowly taken away, but we are still a free society, for the most part. If two guys want to "fight," then let them.
What you dont get about MMA, is its the ultimate chess match up of will, determination, and skill. There is nothing like combat sports, the risk are the most, but the rewards are more. There is a lot of discipline involved. Many of the newer fighters are athletes, while the older guys are more fighters. None the less there is great sportsmanship and commradarrie in MMA. Get out there and train a lil bit, you will see for yourself. There is no more of a rush than training or sparring. Its the greatest test for a man.

The main reason Dana didnt sign Fedor has nothing to do with him being the best Pride had to offer. The main reason is because Dana wanted exclusivity with the UFC. While Fedor still wanted to compete in Japan as well as in Sambo tournaments.

predictions for Sliva vs. Cote (UFC 90)

Well said bmc. Silva wasnt pressing the action at all last night. When he did it was very evident that he was a much better fighter. I do give Cote credit though for not at all being intimidated. Still, it was more of what Silva wasnt doing, versus what Cote did. Both were very respectful, which is always good. I feel for Cote though to have to lose like that.

UFC 89: Thoughts on Bisping vs. Leben
Posted:

Well I have to come and admit I was totally wrong in my prediction. I applaud Bisping who executed a perfect gameplan. I knew he has the better speed and technique. I just thought he would trade a lil more, instead he played it smart. Leben is a one trick poney, which I knew going in. I just thought he would land that big shot. I dont see Bisping beating Henderson, Franklin, and definitely not Silva.

Is Anderson Silva the World's Best MMA Fighter?
Posted:
10/18/2008 11:13:18 AM
When Royce first came out in the early UFCs no one knew the art of grappling. So despite taking a beating he could pull out the win with subs no one knew how to defend. Ken Shamrock was one of the only guys in that time frame who knew the ground game. Hughes was more well rounded than Royce. Same can be said why GSP destroyed Hughes, because he is far more evolved than Hughes is as a fighter.

Favorite MMA fighters
Posted:
10/18/2008 11:09:18 AM
I see there are a lot of knowledgable MMA fans here. Im a huge MMA fan myself, so I was just wondering who are some of yall favorite fighters? Here are a few of mines.
Yves Edwards- I dont care if he hasnt been the same since losing to Hansen in the Bushido tournament. Yves is my favorite fighter ever. I just love to watch his stand up. Its sick. Yves throws the most beautiful punch/kick combinations out there IMO. Plus he is very elusive, rarely taking a full shot. On the ground Yves has a great defensive guard. He doesnt take punishment and is good at reversals. For me though its his striking.
Anderson Silva- Whats not to like about him? Another great striker with amazing skills. He is also good on the ground
Rampage- Rampage is a great character. He is also a great fighter. Tough as nails who wont quit. Ill never forget him smiling during the first Wandy fight when getting repeatedly kneed in the face. I became a big Rampage fan after that night.
GSP- The prototype for the future of MMA. Exceptionally well rounded in all aspects of the game. No weaknesses in any areas of his game. THe only thing with GSP is how is his focus.
Urijah Faber- Just a ball of energy. I love his fearlessness. He is willing to give up his back in attempts to win a fight. He is another well rounded fighter who is very explosive.
Fedor Emelianenko- IMO the best fighter in the world right now. The man just bull rushes you. He fights his fight no matter who you are. Very well rounded and hits like a brick. His only weakness is he cuts easy.
Kid Yamamoto- Another fearless fighter who goes balls out. Not technical on his feet, but has vicious power. He is also a world class wrestler. Kid/Faber would be a dream fight.
Diego Sanchez- I know most people dont like him but I find his fights highly entertaining. His cardio is second to none. He is a tad bit too small for 170 IMO but his cardio makes up for size. His ability to scramble is amazing to watch.
Gina Carano- A thing of beauty. She has an amazing smile. As a fighter Gina has great timing. Her striking is top notch. She is a technically sound fighter who has perfect timing.

What is Atheism, and can Americans talk about it?
Posted:

I love how its OK for Christians to quickly deem everything and everyone who arent Christian as wrong. As being bad or evil. Truth is there are no real certainties. Everything is basically blind faith. Im not sure what my beliefs are. I was raised Catholic but dont follow. I really like the Buddhist philosphy, hence the name. But dont see it as a philosophy, not a religion.
There is a lot of proof of healings and miracles in every faith. Not just Christianity. I think there is more to be said about the human mind and its ability to overcome obstacles when there is 'faith' in a higher power or being that will guide them through.
The name of God and Christianity has been the cause of more deaths than probably anything else.

predictions for Sliva vs. Cote (UFC 90)
Posted:
10/18/2008 10:27:53 AM
If GSP beats BJ Id love to see him move up to face Silva. I think that would be a great fight and match up. GSP is very quick so he could match Silva there, plus with his wrestling. I think in the end Silva would eventualy catch GSP but it would be a tough win. Also, I feel Henderson is a very tough opponent if he wants to be. His problem is he likes to duke it out, which Silva is much better at. Had Henderson used his wrestling like he did in round on of their fight I think the fight could have gone either way. Definitely closer than it ended up being. That said right now Silva is on a tear. I dont think the division is THAT bad, the HWs are far worse IMO.

Juliet, the night actually ended in between. We left after a nice hug. My friend says not to worry she probably does like me but is reserve and hesitant, waiting to get to me know better. Waiting to see if Im really sincere. My friend says she doesnt feel comfortable until after a few dates with a guy, especially one she handnt known until after meeting online. So she thinks the girl Im talking to is the same way.

There was some flirty joking and teasing when we are together as well as on the phone. She leaned in like part of her wanted me to put my arm around her, but then was a bit unsure when I offered. I know I shouldnt have been so hesitant and been more sure of myself. I guess Im letting her age effect me too much.

Thanks for the advice. I normally dont at all go for girls that young. Its just we had so much in common and a great time chatting. We have similar opinions and think a lot alike on many subjects. Plus she appeared so mature, so I kind of let my guard down and gave her a chance. Now Im wishing in some ways I hadnt.
As mentioned by blueskies I wouldnt be as "tame" with a girl more my age. Im that way because I dont want to seem pushy on her. Although I imagine I cant show that uncertainty anymore.
I really think its some insecurities on her part. Ill just take it a day at a time and see how things go.

Yes blueskies, all of the above questions. Im basically wanting a females intepretation of the situation as a whole. Not necessarily a specific question. Thanks and sorry for the vagueness of what Im actually looking for.

The question is to try to understand the situation. If she is really interested and just wanting to take it very slow? Or if she is really unsure of things? Maybe even unsure of herself? Id just like any light on the situation. There isnt a specific question, just a generalized intepretation that Im looking for.

Im gonna try to put the jist of the situation here and not get too long winded. Here is my situation. A few months ago I started corresponding with a girl from plentyoffish. We began by mailing, then chatting online. We talk on a wide array of topics, with the conversations never slowing down. We also have a lot in common and have similar aspirations in life. Understandably she was a bit reluctant to meet. For one, being a female, meeting a male from the internet was a bit weird for her. Plus she said that she was nervous about expectations not being met. What if things arent like they are online. After a while she said she was ready to meet but the hurricanes put a damper on that. Finally we were able to meet up a few weeks ago.
Our first date went extremely well. Our conversation flowed like it did online. We both throughly enjoyed ourselvles. We laughed and joked a lot. There was never no uneasiness at all like when first meeting someone. At the end of the date she quickly said that we need to do something again. So I called a few days later because she was going out of town for the weekend. She was very happy to hear from me and when I asked to get together she said we definitely have to. I know things come up, but it also appeared she was avoiding getting together. Yet, if I called she sounded very happy to hear from me. I didnt talk to her in a few days so I decided Id email her since we couldnt meet up and it might be easier for her than if I called. I asked her to be honest, if she was scared to get close, or if she wasnt ready for anything right now, or if she just wasnt interested in me. She said that she very much enjoyed spending time with me and talking on the phone. She said that there was nothing at all wrong, but she understands that its weird we havent met back up. But for me to know that she isnt hiding anything and tries to be very up front. Which is one of the things that attracted me to her. So anyways, we set up a date last night.
The dinner part went very well. Another great conversation. We then went sit out by the lake. Again, a great conversation on a wide array of topics. There was some flirty jokes by both of us. There was a breeze and she appeared cold. I wasnt sure if I should try to hold her or not. Thing is she sat at times leaning slightly towards me like she wanted me to hold her. So I touched her in conversation a few times. She didnt at all seem to mind the touch but never touched back so I didnt put my arm around her. After a while I could see she was very cold so I put my arm around her and said you look so cold. She said why I look bothered. I said yeah you look very cold, and that we could leave if she wanted. I just put my arm around her but didnt get too close to keep some comfort. She didnt get any closer but didnt seem to mind my arm around her. We talked a few more mins and left. I texted her this morning and we joked again and both said we enjoyed ourselves.
I really like her a lot. We have so much in common and she has so many qualities I want in a woman. Im just unsure about things. Mind you Im 34 and shes only 22. The only reason I took the time to get to know her more on that level is because she comes off as so mature and family oriented. Any help on understanding the situation would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for being so long winded.

UFC 89: Thoughts on Bisping vs. Leben

Bmc I agree that Bisping is very tough as well. He is more talented and much quicker. Ive never denied that. I just think Leben is tougher and has more power. IMO that will be the difference. I dont at all doubt Bisping may get a decision. I think he will be winning the fight but will get caught in time with a big shot by Leben. I dont think Bisping is as good as many think, he is talented though. He also should have lost the decision to Hamill.

Im a huge metal head. It can be frustrating at times but I try not to let it bother me. Metal is by far my fave but I have a wide varying taste. So when Im with her and if she isnt a metal head I just try to compromise. I just HATE country. But if she will tolerate some of my music, Ill compromise hers as well.

UFC 89: Thoughts on Bisping vs. Leben

Leben will beat Bisping and here is why. For one thing Bisping is a talented fighter but not as good as many think. He is a very good scrambler, to stay out of trouble. His stand up is pretty good. The difference is Leben has a big time chin(outside of the Silva fight), while Bisping doesnt seem to have a great chin. Also, Leben has a ton of heart and wont stop fighting. In time he will catch Bisping with a big shot and get the TKO. I think it will be an entertaining fight that Bisping has a great shot at winning but Im going with Leben.
By the way to anyone who hasnt seen the fight, try to find Lebens fight with Joe Doerkson. One of the all time great MMA bouts. I was lucky enough to be there live. Leben was in a wicked arm bar and kimura that would have tapped nearly any fighter. Yet he didnt and finished the fight. Im not a fan of him but respect the hell out of him. He is one tough SOB.

Is Anderson Silva the World's Best MMA Fighter?

BJ beat Matt Huges at 170. He could have gotten the decision against GSP in their fight. He was owning Hughes until he gassed. BJ had cardio problems in the past that caught up to him at 170. BJ is clearly the best at 155 in the world, he whooped up on Gomi.
Im not saying A Silva couldnt be considered #2, but one win over someone like Irvin doesnt hold much weight. So it makes no sense if you are gonna say BJ isnt deserving of being considered one of the top P4P fighters but say Silva is right up there when he doesnt really fight out of his weight.

Its simple, come to Tiger Stadium on a saturday night and you'll see for yourslef. There is no better gameday environment. Look at our big wins the last few years, many are come from behind. LSU will fight on till the end. We play hard, have great play makers on offense and some big hitter on defense. Also LSU has won 6 straight games against top 10 opponents under the Hat, nuff said.

Personal trainer/massage therapy careers

Im a licensed massage therapist and a certified personal trainer. Although Im not training at the moment, Id like to eventually do both somewhere down the road along with massage. Depending on where you work and with some luck you can make pretty good money. Its a lot more difficult being a male therapist though. Most men are too homophobic and some women are too conscious to have a male therapist. As for training, you can do well, but its a difficult trade. Right time and place is a key factor.
