Did you think life would be like this at 50?
Posted: 11/20/2009 8:11:33 PM
No I never thought my life would be like this at 50+ but ya gots ta do wats ya gots ta do

head out to a hockey game ...
do the wave
drink some overpriced beer
cheer the Oilers on

So I have to fly over to Vancouver on Sunday..
Head out to watch a hockey game..
The wave usually happens once or twice..
I can guarantee there will be a few overpriced beers consumed..
I will be cheering on the Canuckleheads..

It's not what I thought, but it could be a whole lot worse. The main thing is I have my health.

People, why against the rocking chair on the porch?
Posted: 11/20/2009 7:31:51 PM

Deck sitting bores me.

Am I to understand that after a strenuous day of doing whatever that you and your friends don’t ever have a BBQ or go to an establishment that has a patio with a gorgeous view, have some appies, a beverage, good conversation because

My body enjoys keeping moving.

Sorry to hear that.

I have enjoyed rocking chairs since I was a kid, so it is definately not an age or ability to do things issue. Nothing like sitting on the patio with some Bruddah Iz, beverage of choice, reading a good book, and having a nice rock.

Widow/Widower-Wearing the wedding ring?
Posted: 11/11/2009 3:16:40 PM
I never wore my wedding ring everyday when we were married as it was to easy to get caught on things and could cause some damage. I was already missing one finger from a work related accident so we felt it better that I not take any unneccesary chances. So for me it wasn't a problem to not wear the ring as I only wore it when we went out. We were together for 23 years before she passed away. I wear a pink breast cancer bracelet everyday now.

Are older men sometimes intimidated by older sexy women?
Posted: 11/7/2009 6:32:18 PM
Ms. Mae...."step away from the power tools"...as stated above it is not a requirement just one form of confidence. There are many other forms of confidence that are sexy in a woman. Having red hair and green eyes is just another one of those sexy things that is a personal favorite but certainly doesn't intimidate me.

Wow!!!! A man after my own heart!!!!

Ya ... there aren't too many of us out there ... and not all that many men actually lusting after us (sigh)... but believe me, once they catch us ... they know what they've got. WHEW!!!! ... gives me goose bumps just thinking about it ...

I only think it's fair that if I know how to cook that a woman should be comfortable around power tools. The more that we both have in common the better. It is definately not a requirement though. It is just one trait in a woman that I find sexy...confidence.

Starting a family aged 50+
Posted: 11/5/2009 11:12:11 PM
My wife was 32 and I was 36 when we had our first child and 36 and 40 when we had our second. The reason we waited is because we had things we wanted to do before taking that incredible step into parenthood. We worked our butts off for a couple of years after meeting and then we took two years off and travelled around the world. Wanted to make sure we did that before kids so we could do a lot of off the beaten path kinda stuff. After we returned home we decided that we better get ourselves established in good jobs and get a house well under way before the big step. When we were finally ready to have kids we were well prepared mentally and financially and ready to spend time taking care of the kids because we had done the things that we wanted to do. Unfortunately my wife passed away when the kids were 6 and 10. So that just goes to show that one can never tell when their time is up no matter how much planning you do. Anyways I don't think my kids think of me as an old man, I still mountain bike with my son, beat him at tennis and ping pong. I take him to concerts such as AC/DC, John Fogarty, George Thorogood, Buddy Guy etc, etc,. I take my daughter to the ballet at least 2 or 3 times a year along with other dance shows. This last summer we went on an 8 day road trip to Banff and had a great time. Having kids is all about really wanting them and being ready for them unconditionally. I am glad that we waited to have kids.

Once we get to know what the tools will be used for, we will be much more at ease and probably lusting by then.

that is lusting for the tools...right

Oh contraire Ms. Sapphireeyes, a woman that owns power tools and knows how to use them is extremely desireable, of course that is just my opinion.

Been playing around with power tools since I was a kid, but it never kept any men from liking me and dating me and wanting .......... well, you know.

The question was 'sometimes intimidated', nothing to do with liking, dating, wanting.

i just think a level playing feild would be best for the sport.

I understand what you are saying but the Blue Jays won back to back series with a middle of the road payroll. You just have to have some talent and a lot of desire. Sometimes to much talent doesn't always work, too many egos to massage.

The nice part about being single -- and dating -- at an older age is that by now, peoples' personality flaws, behavioral quirks, and mental illnesses have manifested themselves.

Not always true, sometimes they have become very good at hiding these things.

How do you figure ?

Pedro's ERA is 30 points lower and his winning percentage is 150 points higher that Nolan.

If Ryan had of pitched on a team that won as many games as the Red Sox did he would have ended up with over 400 wins and a few seasons with over 30 wins. As it turned out he did have 7 no hitters. Just bad luck for him that he didn't have the backup that Pedro had.

Plus I wouldn't under estimate him in a big game in his possible last outing (isn't he getting close to retirement?) It would be like under estimating Nolan Ryan in his twilight years.

Pedro may be a good pitcher but he is not in the same league as Nolan Ryan.

Sarah McLachlan singing "Answer" in the SPCA commercial

After my first wife passed away I couldn't listen to Sarah McLachlan sing this one.

I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Dont let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one

I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Dont let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

Im so tired but I cant sleep
Standin on the edge of something much too deep
Its funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, but we cant be heard

But I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Dont let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

Im so afraid to love you, but more afraid to loose
Clinging to a past that doesnt let me choose
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light

And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Dont let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Dont let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Weep not for the memories

It been 11 years now and it doesn't hurt like it used to.

Try to discuss the Allman Brothers they don't know who I'm talking about

There are some of us out here who have seen and know who the Allman Brothers are. Live at the Fillmore East is one of my favorite albums. I will be going to see ZZ Top next month and I've been to 15 concerts so far this years including the Derek Trucks
Band. It can be discouraging as you say, but the right one is out there for all of us.

I do understand your point of foreign ownership, but I have no complaints with the Glazers and neither should any United fan. Since they took over in 2005, we have signed at least one major player a year. 2005(Van Der Sar and Park) 2006 (Vidic, Evra, Carrick) 2007 (Tevez, Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson) 2008 (Berbatov) 2009 (Owen, Valencia)

Widow and widowers
Posted: 10/18/2009 6:06:51 PM
We are never too old to ‘Love Again’ and feel those butterflies. I definitely think that it is possible to have 2 great loves and soul mates in one lifetime. I lost my first wife 11 years ago after being together for 23 years. It took a few years before starting to date again and when I did I had no intention of comparing, for me there was no reason to compare as no two loves are alike. I was looking for a new love, not the same love. For the other person to feel as though they are not competing with ghosts of the past they have to be confident in themselves and know that the reason that you want to be with them is because they are who they are. It is a tough spot to be in, but one that is not impossible to overcome.

I wish you the best of luck in your search.

Spent 2 months hitch-hiking around both islands in 1977 and as others have said here, the people are what make this country the beauty that it is. People would pick us up and ask where we were going and we say that we were going to the youth hostel and they would say why not come to our place and we'll show you around our city, town. They would feed us dinner, take us for a tour, put us up for the night, feed us breakfast, pack us a lunch and drop us off wherever we wanted. Incredible people and an absolutely georgeous country to visit.

Malahat Mountain Inn, its in Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island BC Canada. I was amazed by the stunning view and felt really lucky that i was there, drinking fine wine and looking at pacific ocean, amazing! also the restaurant provided the great food, great view and great service! it really worth to visit if you ever visit Vancouver Island.

I live 15 minutes from the MMI and it is a wonderful restaurant with a spectacular view. The best restaurant that I have been to was a little french bistro in Bondi Junction.

absofreekinlutely but there might be a bit of chit chat about what one likes to get the parts warmed up.
