Would you serve on the jury?
Posted: 11/23/2009 1:58:52 PM

Apparently someone has forgotten the history of America and how the west was was won.

No , haven't forgotten the "Evils" of America.
Just out of curiosity.
Can you name one civilization , that does not have blood on their hands?
One piece of history , where one group hasn't enslaved or destroyed another?
Or is this just another " Lefty , i hate america , but certainly enjoy the freedoms lots of other folks payed for ,Rant ?

No Rickeyes, not what I meant. Yes, we do have blood on our hands. We have destroyed people. We have enslaved people. But when I said as much in a thread and mocked Veteran's Day on Veteran's Day, people got very angry about it (and rightfully so? maybe but I'm not convinced). Right wing American patriotism precludes me from saying anything that might be considered 'anti-american' and many have been told 'well if you don't like it here go back to .... Africa (in my case since I have majority African heritage). But how can you tell someone that if they don't like it here they should leave... considering how America came to be gotten in the first place? Through slavery, bloodshed, discrimination, thievery, bribery, and others. That's why I say some people must have forgotten the history of America and how the west was won.

America is my home. I been here for several generations and it’s the only home that I and my ancestors know and are familiar with; and I can get arrogant and belligerent with the best of 'em when it comes to talking down about ‘my america’ but some of us so blinded by patriotism and favoritism that we paint everyone as the enemy, including our own people who dare to take issue with America or speak out about anything regarding it. These same people will often lambaste the current government administration but crudely reprimand anyone for their so-called ‘anti-american’ rhetoric.

Hypocrisy is what I call it, but I been throwing that word around alot and I fear overusing it.

Does This Make Me Look Smart? - I Watched Star Trek
Posted: 11/23/2009 1:32:14 PM
This may be my first and only posts in this forum so forgive me if I milk it for all it's worth.....

I'm smart I'm smart I'm smart HELL YEAH I'm smart I'm smart I'm smart
I'm in the SCIENCE & PHILISOPHY forum because
I'm smart, I'm smart, I'm smart HELL YEAH I'm smart I'm smart I'm smart

OK so I did a smart and nerdy thing. I watched the latest installment of Star Trek.
(I'm putting that on my social resume. That's a smart thing to do... because I'm smart ). Considering I like certain characters of star trek (Worf, 7of9, Captain Piccard, etc) more than I like Star Trek, I gotta say this was pretty good. I liked it - the whole movie.

And I got a very convoluted question.

Yall know that Cero came back from the future to destroy the Vulcan planet in retaliaton for letting the Romulan planet get destroyed, and he wanted Spock to watch.

First question - why didn't he just go back in far enough time to save his own planet?

Now even young Spock said to Kirk
'You are assuming that Nero knows how events are predicted to unfold - the contrary. Nero's very presence has altered the flow of history, beginning with the attack on the USS Kelvin, culminating in the events of today, thereby creating an entire new chain of incidents that cannot be anticipated by either party. '

But yet the ending turned out exactly how it should have turned out because of the presence of the old Spock, who had been beamed back into time to live out in his presence in the barren ice desert to see his own planet destroyed.

This doesn't make any sense. Either there would be time loop as this sequence of events were recreated and recreated (how can the future come back into past with the same predictable outcome unless there was a loop?); or the outcome would be totally different since they (The Romulans) changed the future by reentering the past?

And an added question - are the tribes and people on Star Treck (Vulcan, Romulans, Forengi, Borg, Klingon, etc) suppose to represent the the different races and types of people of the US, or namely their stereotypes? I've heard that Forengis represent Jews, Vulcans are Asians, Klingon might by the Blacks, etc.

And I missed a Klingon representation in that movie!

marriage on the way out?? if not why are there so many divorces?
Posted: 11/23/2009 12:48:57 PM
Ah look at all you single do-gooders on here. Aren't you all just lovely? And some of you are... divorced! Idealizing an institution that you yourselves couldn't even accomplish.
Interesting.

I do notice a lot more older single people though. I also notice more single people suing for child support and infecting other people with an STD, which is a consequence of generation-x attitude towards sex and their responsibilites before engaging in sex.
I can't help it of all these old-tymers want some young(er) hot pootang and boners. If they would have kept it among their age groups, they might be disease-less today. That's why its called Gen-X. X is unknown. And it is 'unknown' what many of them got!

C'mon people...it was tongue in cheek

That may be the case for you but mine was

Yes ! a coward dies a thousands deaths. What is unnecessary is this fear you are attempting to generate. This can of worms you are trying to open is your can of worms.

These men never "planed" on getting caught.

American are not afraid of these goat herders. Our military has been sent to do a clean up and gather suspects , It's our job that justice is served. Let the people of New York deal with them. It's that simple. ~ being held without trial for 8 years is not how the "free world" conducts business. This is just more dirty business left over from an administration that had no focus or vision and mass produced errors.

These men are not soldiers , not representing any reconized nation but agents of zealots and criminals and unworthy the respect of soldiers.

I would pay good money to sit in judgment of such men.

One reason for all this resistance , ~ leads straight back to D1ck the snake Chaney, and the blundering decisions he's made and the liabilities he "might" have to address and the minions that support him.

I say to that, let the pieces fall where they may, ~ American's should never be afraid of the truth. Ask Ollie North about such things, he's got the experience in such matters.

Dance
Grand ol' American Patriotism at it's best. And one wonders why I wrote what I wrote in that ***other*** thread on ***that*** particular day.

Go ahead. Tell me 'well if you don't like it you can go back too ....' because that's pretty much the only rebuke one can can come up with. Apparently someone has forgotten the history of America and how the west was was won.

btw - LWH, I admire your integrity for deciding to be bold and notifying your potential partners of your situation firstoff and first hand. That's an excellent character trait, says a lot about you.

It's more than I would probably do.. which is lie off the bat and tell later... maybe.

Good luck and blessings.

eyes smize, who the hell cares.

I have brown eyes and the majority of the world has brown eyes and I practice eye color discrimination. Sorry to tell you but if you got blue eyes you ain't the hottest shit on the planet but some of you are and whatever eye color you got will complement that.

But the subject of social diseases, now that's interesting. Did you know the majority of the people with disease have brown eyes?

Hell if I know I just made that up that but it's probably true since majority of people have... brown eyes ofcourse.

Feels like you made a mistake
You made somebody's heart break
But now I have to let you go
I have to let you go

You left a stain
On every one of my good days
But I am stronger than you know
I have to let you go

No one's ever turned you over
No one's tried
To ever let you down,
Beautiful girl
Bless your heart

I got a disease
Deep inside me
Makes me feel uneasy baby
I can't live without you
Tell me what I am supposed to do about it
Keep your distance from it
Don't pay no attention to me
I got a disease

Feels like you're making a mess
You're hell on wheels in a black dress
You drove me to the fire
And left me there to burn

Every little thing you do is tragic
All my life, oh was magic
Beautiful girl
I can't breathe

I got a disease
Deep inside me
Makes me feel uneasy baby
I can't live without you
Tell me what I am supposed to do about it
Keep your distance from it
Don't pay no attention to me
I got a disease
I think that I'm sick
But leave me be while my world is coming down on me
You taste like honey, honey
Tell me can I be your honey
Be, be strong
Keep telling myself it that won't take long till
I'm free of my disease

Yeah well free of my disease
Free of my disease

I got a disease
Deep inside me
Makes me feel uneasy baby
I can't live without you
Tell me what I am supposed to do about it
Keep your distance from it
Don't pay no attention to me
I got a disease

I think that I'm sick
But leave me be while my world is coming down on me

marriage on the way out?? if not why are there so many divorces?
Posted: 11/23/2009 11:30:57 AM

Do you think a person who is in a marriage because they want to stay will make a better marriage partner or someone who knows you can't divorce them, can't leave them with nothing, can't be tossed out on their ass, do you think that situation makes for a better marriage?

Well... from inferred references , some (all of which are men) would believe and choose the latter. This is the reason many have for dating Asians (docility) or getting an oversees bride. They think these women are going to (either willingly or out of obligation) do everything for them and treat them like a king without question or nag. And her poor poverty-stricken butt will be so grateful to have them that she won't leave them or divorce them (plus their countries might prohibit it). So yes, it is exactly what they want. They don't care about marital quality or equality but rather the longetivity of it - or better yet the controlling of it as they (the men) decide when it is over and not the women (meaning they can't be dumped or divorced by the woman and left alone).

Some women say they pushover man who will do anything for them and be at the beck and call, but the more I thought about it, no that is not something I would want. I like an assertive man with his own mind and free will. Treating me like a queen and respect is one thing, being a doormat for anyone, including me, is just unattractive.

The whole 5 and ten year contract thing is a terrible idea.
Imagine the pressure to re-enlist!

Does this contract contain a non performance clause pertaining to sex?
Each contract would be determined by each individual couple so if you want that, it could be included... as long as your SO agreed.

By the way, by definition, lawyers and bankers ALL live in sin, even the ones who live alone.
By whose or what definition?

when you (or, in this case, she) does the deed for money, there is one word for that, and we all know what that is...

the definition doesn't change because of the circumstances...

And your point is???
I'd move to IDAHO, I don't mind!!!

I would ask : why cheat yourself ?
The going rate is 75 million ...

You don't say?? Well I'll bargain and settle for a half....

religion is on the way out. Since marriage is practically a religious ceremony anway, then it might be on the way out too.

So how will the governement recognize the perks of being a 'married' couple if people no longer want to get married?

Simple. Change 'marriage license' to 'Cohabitating Contract' to be served for s specific amount of years (5, 10, 15, 25, 30 - 5 year increments are preferable and 30 years being the maxum) and then ended. If the contract is voided prior to the stated time, then just like a prenup or cell phone contract, there is a penalty from the one that voided it or a joint penalty paid to each party if it was mutually voided (or maybe you pay to the divorce court instead).

Basically - a prenuptial agreement becomes a standard marital contract while the traditional one is null, void, and obsolete.

Wow. I've thought about that but never seen it in writing before.
If I ever get 'married' again - this is it. I think I'm going for the 5 year installment contract.

Mandatory DNA tests at birth?
Posted: 11/23/2009 10:40:19 AM
I'm cool with that idea nappykat, but heres my question.

LOTS of the women on here have vehemently opposed it, and your logic is sound, it IS costly and who will pay for it. I completely agree with you.

If i want one, and the woman refuses to be tested? What about the dad that no shows so you can't prove it's his kid to get out of CS or whatever else?

Still no reason for manditory DNA testing at birth.

So for this situation - subpoena. No show = jail show.
Again, if you get guv assistance they will do this anyway. If a guy denies paternity to a child whose mother is recieving assistance, they will test him. And if he test positive to paternity, he may even have to pay that back to the guv for the test.

But if the mother of your child doesn't get guv assistance, then it's up to you and you have to pay for it. Do you think having it done manditory at birth means you get to get of paying the $250-$500 to have it done? Well that would explain some of the pro's for it.

So let me get this crooked.... some of yall guys see it as a sense of pride and dignity that you can pay for some thangs yourselves (like...oh... a $325 dental appointment) than to use the governmental assistance that your leaching welfare-baby-mommas can cover, than to use that same out-of-pocket money to get a DNA test of the children you claim to cherish but yet somebody (either you or the baby-momma) is denyin?

If i want one, and the woman refuses to be tested?
Big Pacific - I am NOT the momma of that baby that was dropped off at your doorstep. I already told you that. We and them other possible baby-mommas are just gonna have to go on MAURY POVICH and do a DNA maternity test to find out who it is.

See you there!

Mandatory DNA tests at birth?

Sorry, but DNA can be funny sometimes. You can't tell if a child is someones or not just by their skin color AT BIRTH. My brother came out and looked like he was half white, half black, his skin was WAYYYYY darker then any of my other brothers and sisters, in fact he very much resembled a monkey (no offense to anyone, lol) My dad tried to pull the "He's not mine" crap until my grandma (dad's mom) looked at him and said "Are u stupid? That kid looks exactly like u did when u were born" He never denied him again, my brother lightened up over time and is now the spitting image of my dad.

My own son came out darker then some babies, people would ask me if he was mixed. He is not, both myself and his father are white with no black/mexican in our families, but my son has more of an olive color to his skin, so I guess that's what makes people think he's mixed.

My late Uncle Pat looked like he had a permanent tan, yet my grandma and grandpa are both white with again, no other races in our immediate family when my brother, son and uncle were born. (I'm talking grandma, grandpa, great-grandma and grandpa, and even great-great-grandma and grandpa)

Judging whether or not a kid is yours by skin color at birth is ridiculous. That's the same thing as saying he's not yours cause he doesn't have your nose, eyes, etc. Newborns can be all different colors, hell if you were in a womb full of fluid for 9 months then had to be squished down a birth canal u might look kinda funny too.
You might need to shake your tree a little harder Sweetie because I'm sure you're bound to find some black crowes beneath all those doves.

Maybe it's a genetic throwback. The most interesting weird case I've heard is this one about some white south african couple who have a clearly 'black' daughter' in the mist of racial apartheid. Her name is Sandra Laing. Google her if you're interested. Talk about a case needing a DNA test - and they never got one. Some folks think the momma went skippin with some black south african, but even the daddy never denied it was his daughter. She favors him too.

Mandatory DNA tests at birth?

DNA test should be optional, not manditory.
If you want one, get one.
If in doubt, get one.
But why subject the rest of us who don't want one and don't need one? The father of my children never denied my kids.... ok except for this one time but but I think that was a play to say something mean and hurtful to me than a result of what he believed. When I told him 'so get your ass a DNA test then, I don't care! Guvment will do it free if yo' ass on welfare!' then he backed out.

And no smart-asses it wasn't because he didn't want to pay. Ask plenty of fathers out here, you may still have to pay child-support even if you didn't get a DNA. He didn't want a DNA test because he already knew they were his kids. He was just sayin bullshit to get at me.

I can't see this coming to fruition because 100's of babies are born everyday and who's gonna pay for this testing? The guvment? The guvment might do it if you are on welfare and they are paying for your child's birth, but that won't (and shouldn't) happen because it singles out poor and minorities specifically, causing a class and racial bias/discrimination. So because of that, and the cost of it, it probably won't be done.

If you got private insurance, especially a HMO, that might be too much money for them to consider also. And most private insurance has no interest in your baby-daddy drama as they can't use that to recoup what they paid for the birth of a child and it’s subsequent care. You or the guvment would be getting child support money, not them.

For a million dollars? And everybody here says no? I think we have an excess of bullshit on this website.

You know right, right?

But maybe the answers are true for the peeps that answered this thread. I notice people who would answer any such thread about cheating in an affirmative - are never replying to the thread but probably just reading (and there is probably a HULLUVA lot in that group!). They know how finicky, bashing, and judgemental these selective moral-toters are. But I really aint worried about it.

Is it worthwhile to date here?
Posted: 11/23/2009 9:36:44 AM
If you're a young woman under 30 who's really attractive, childless, and single (no divorces) I'm reading that you'll get a lot of messages, like 20+ in a day or more. They tend to get the most response fromw what I'm reading.

If you're a woman anything other than the above, then the messaging responses varies significantly but it's lower than that above. However, most of the LTR and STR accomplishment (including marriage) seemed to held by women and men who are 35+ and been in former LTR before. This may reflect the nature that the women in the first paragraph are more into just dating and the women in this paragraph are seeking more long term.

Attractive, childless, under-40 men may get the most responses, but from what I'm reading there is a dearth responses for men across the board.

I met a really nice guy

Don't have to read any more that pretty much sums it up. 'Nice guys' is a despised word on here because guys who call themselves that have a sense of entitlement about getting the girls they desire, and then lament and groan about why they aren't getting them.

And women who start posts off like that always have some issue with the 'nice guys' they dated and/or currently dating.

Hint - don't date nice guys or don't start threads off with this phrase.

Cheating
Posted: 11/23/2009 9:09:45 AM

Why do people cheat?

1. Because they weren't ready to be monagamous and plenty of other people interest them sexually
2. Because they are lacking something in the relationship

What do you consider cheating?

Anal, oral, and penetrative sex.
Emotional cheating - sharing an highly emotionally-charged bond with someone other than your SO and spending a significant amount of time with that other person.
Undecided about hand jobs, fingering, and mutual partner toy play with no anal, oral, or penentrative sex involved.

Is watching porn considered cheating?

No. But it can be an addiction which make your SO feel like you are cheating.

Is going to a strip club considered cheating?

No. But it can be an addiction which make your SO feel like you are cheating.

Do you think it's easier to cheat now days with all of the technology we have than back in the old days?
. No. I don't consider playing with technology cheating, but it can be addictive. What technology has done however, is make it easier for you to get caught cheating.

If cheated on, would you stay w/ the person who cheated on you? why or why not?
Possibly so, possibly not. Depends on other elements of the relationship and the person.

If you are the one that cheated, do you ever feel guilty about what you have done? or do you feel a sense of accomplishment because you pulled it off?
No sense of accomplishment of guilt.

If they have recent doctor papers in hand saying they were disease free then it's 'hell yeah.'

Cant guarantee you that it would be anything to write home about tho; so no take-backs, no refunds, and no returns. All sales final.

OP - why is she asking this question being so close to reality? Maybe she is wondering why her SO has a profile on POF looking for long term.

Ah sookie sookie now.
I missed that, that is interesting.

No. More cynical and desensitized.
But some stories still get to me - the latest about a woman who sold her 5 year old into prostitution for drugs. The man rape and strangled the little girl.

And my water sac came out WHOLE, yeah thats right, no breaking, just this big yellow water balloon looking thing. Scared the doctors. lol. They said they had never seen or heard of anything like that before.

Oh yeah, and btw, throughout my pregnancy there were 2 baby faces in the ultra sound but only ONE baby, and yes, he came out perfectly normal. Explain THAT one.

With my second there was actually a "ghost face" in the 2 ultrasound pictures. My mother-in-law used to say it was a demon and we would kind of laugh it off.

Now this is getting interesting.

Can't explain the first or the latter one but the first one is interesting. Sounds like you might have gotten pregnant with fraternal twins. Two different sacs maybe and one ruptured for one baby to come out but the other never ruptured and the baby from that one disappeared. Absorbed maybe?

But if it was one sac and the twins were identical - then how did one baby get out of unruptured bag and what happened to the other one?

Wow. This is one of those 'just beyond this world' kinda things. Very occultish.

dating outside your race
Posted: 11/21/2009 10:26:26 PM

what about the sexual aspect? physical aspects are a huge factor in this, and for some people, race-related features like skin color are keys to what turns them on.
what sexual aspect?

I don't buy it. That color aspect only works if you're very very pale and the person you like is very dark. But if that is all you will date, then you are still practicing personal discrimination against your own race if you exclude 'white' people of a darker hue (some white people are about the color of my inside arm - brown, bronze, tannish, tawny). You are also practicing a personal discrimination against lighter skinned blacks or lighter cultural ethnicities. You believe your own race is deficient (of melanin or darker pigment) and have a belief that dark skin is only present in blacks or dark skinned latino/a.

nk, seems you're also drawing an oversimplified distinction between p reference and exclusion. take the example of a highly attractive white man who doesn't dismiss white women, but is just more turned on by black women and doesn't have to settle for anything less than exactly what he wants. thus, white women are excluded from his dating life, but it's not because he's 'against' them - he's just 'for' others. that's still a red flag
If white women are excluded from his dating life, then he has 'dismissed them' from his dating pool and - per your said example - thinks that dating white women is 'dating less' than what he desires. Again, he finds white women deficient.

This right here is my own personal opinion - if you find your own race deficient or lacking that you are totally opposed to dating or settling down with them, then *I* think something is wrong with you. These people of that race are your family (mother, father, sister, brother), probably your primary friends and associates, your community, and the people you grew up around. They should be the people that you are at first attracted to if not foremost attracted too. To fully outright reject those people of your race for dating or mating is to reject your family, community, friends and associates. I don't understand why anyone would do that if they didn't have personal issues with their own race and the people in it - therefore I think everyone practicing outright personal discrimination and exclusion against their own race has issues.

And since Latinos aren't a race, then take out 'race' and put 'skin color' instead. Skin color discrimination is ripe in the Latino/a and Indian community just like the black community. The indian community had a name for their very dark people of the lowest caste - the Untouchables (now called Dalit) and will not date someone darker than themselves.

Here's an example of what I mean.

An Asian woman doesn't want to date an Asian man because she likes tall men and Asian men are typically less than 6 feet tall. So she typically likes to date tall white men. But if chemisty and attraction were there, would she date an Asian man like Yao Ming?

If her answer is yes - then that is a preference toward white men that may include Asian men if they fit her taste.

But if she is adament that she wil not date an Asian man at all, even those that fit her 'preference' for tall men (given chemistry and attraction ofcourse), then she using her 'preference' to personally discriminate against her own race, and I attribute that to some sort personal problem she has with own race, whatever that is (they don't have round eyes, not enough money, treat women like slaves - I'm just giving examples but it all speaks to some kinda issue she may have about her race).

Children might be an imbred too (their father and I may have some not-so-distant common relative. My great grand-mother might be his great aunt or something like that. It's ongoing research but it would kinda cool if was true).
And no, I'm not 'redneck' or trailer. I'm an urban inbred. But both our family has southern small town roots in TN.

But I'll let the buck stop there for now... if I can help it.

But what the hell. After you get down pass first cousins, everything else is legal. Problem with that is, some of us can't stand our family more than strangers... a match made in heaven (hell) for sure.

SHOUT OUT TO ALL MY INBRED PEEPS!

I like Steve Buscemi too. I took notice of him from the movie Conair. I also started noticing John Malkovich from that movie. Cyrus the Virus was one of my favorite overall characters.

I do like Biggie Smalls. That's what I see as a teddy bear type.
But I still have my limits.

dating outside your race

and yet....I am not African American...brown skin is brown skin, yes..but culturally...Latin Caribbean culture and their culture vary greatly - I don't like people twisting the facts.
And so your posts means.... what? Again, culture is not the same thing as race so 'Puerto Rican' and 'African American' aren't on the same relative level.

This is becoming one of my pet peeves.

Again, Latino/a are dumpted into a 'racial' category for their language since those countries tend not to define race like USA. But Latino/a is not a race. Black is race. Many Latinos are black with the culture or heritage of being Latino/a.

And why isn't the term 'mutt' offensive, but 'half-breed' is?
One refers to a dog for heaven's sake.

If you are so willing to use 'mutt' why not mongrels?
A race of mongrels. Is that offensive?

Rhetorical questions. I don't really care what your answers are.

dating outside your race
Posted: 11/21/2009 12:02:19 PM
We too easily dismiss things as ‘preferences’ but it’s really not a preference. It’s outright personal discrimination that we practice, and we also have to realize that so-called ‘preferences’ is commonly based on our experiences and reactions to those experiences.

For instance, women don’t commonly like or date short men because being taller conveys a sense of protection, dominerance, and responsibility. If a woman is taller it makes her feel more like a ‘man’ in the protector role. Some men don’t like women who make more than them because it’s presume that the person who makes the more money will be the one to try to run the household – and resentment can grow from some who want to adhere to traditional roles of housewife/breadwinner when the wife makes more money. They may be ‘preferences’ but they are also unconscious social examples of our upbringing and how we feel.

Also a preference leaves one ‘open’ to dating something or someone that falls out of it. When you are openly excluding people it’s is personal discrimination,[ even if the people you are excluding you like you or falls into your group.

I don't understand why someone isn't attracted to or don't want to date their own race. It wreaks to me. I see it as self hatred or racial insecurity. Many times when people don’t date their own race, they see their own race as ‘deficient’ and are drawn to another race based on the stereotypes or beliefs of that other race. Commonly, among white women that are drawn to date black men only – they see white men as deficient in being physical, assertive, or aggressive. This is what white men commonly think too so that’s may be why they take offense.

When a guy tells me he only dates black women, it send up the infamous 'red flag' of things. I am not impressed. I’m thinking ‘why aren’t white women good enough for you? What is it that attracts you to black women only that you see lacking those of your own race? And since you are that race, then that probably means you feel you are lacking too.’

Personally I’m not that interested in white guys who only date black women. I don’t want a white man who thinks he’s lacking or that his race (that he is apart of) is deficient. I don’t want a white man who has some stereotypical (or general) beliefs about black women (or his own to the point of excluding them completely). If you have a ‘true’ preference (meaning you tend to lean that way), then I guess that’s fine. But I not for personal exclusion of one’s own race.

Now I personally don’t get mad about one’s personal exclusion to their own race and wouldn’t harass anyone about it. But since you put this up for public opinion – there’s my $2 worth. Take from it what you will.

Not really Benjamin Buttons but I heard of this saying..
'You're an adult but once and a child twice.'

And I can relate to what you all are saying when it comes to smokers. I'm a non-smoker and sometimes I wished I smoked because I noticed where in most jobs you get two 15 minute breaks, smokers took at least one 5 minute break every hour or so. And if your boss smoked, you had it made because you could go and smoke with your boss and supervisor (smokers always like company) and stay out there with them as long as they stayed out to smoke. I saw that as being unfair.

And kids aren't really 'excuses' but something you really have to take care of. They require time. A lot of employers know this and know that kids are a major reason people take off work. I'm glad for the law that says you can keep your job if you have to take off because a lot of times mothers are loathe in the work force for the time they have take off. Tell someone your kid is sick at school and they look you like you just slapped them for having to take off because they really really really need you to be there.

If it is a social dating and conversational thing - parenting is only one of the things I like to talk about, not the only thing. So are you saying you can't relate to these parentings because most of their conversation revolves around parenting and childbirth?

Then why not just get new friends?

I have friends or associates that single parents never married. I sometimes find that women who are married/divorced have a better concept of men and relationships that I can relate too than those who never married.

Women who have had teenagers have a better grasp of what teenagers are like (even tho we will often disagree on method of discepline) than those with young children or no kids at all.

So it's understandible that a young man, childless and never married, would not and probably can not relate to those who are parents.

So what this says is - why is he having trouble finding other men and women who are childfree and probably relationship free instead of putting down those who already have children. If I can't relate to those who don't have children, then I meet those that do and be merry with them. I don't put those down who don't have children.

Why do people always want to place blame on someone else for their own deficiencies?

^^^^ Thank you Ismene2. But you're right - some people will have to experience some things themselves before they actually believe it is true. At least strictly speaking in this regard of hate crimes.

And personally, I didn't know a hate crime could be committed against Christians or whites. Learned something new.

Thank you for that bit of info Cheshire.

I don't know what to think about MJ. I think he was avery pained man, so I do have some compassion and sympathy for him. It would be so easy to cast him off, especially since he obviously had issues about his race and features, but I don't know. I think several people are finding more compassion for him now in death than they ever did while he was alive.

Is this a Hate Crime ?
Posted: 11/20/2009 11:52:00 PM
OK, here's the real deal.

for goodness sake don't call this 'race baiting' ok?

First - Being Muslim is not a 'race' it's a religion. So it's a 'hate crime' based on religion, not race.

And I think the point is here (anyone can correct me if I am wrong) is that everyone can have hate crime perpectuated against them (Muslim, Black, Jew, Homos, Asian) except for Christian whites. So ofcourse Christian whites would try to belittle 'hate' crimes because it serves no benefit to them whatsoever. They can be accused of it but can rarely be a victim of it. So what they are saying is why does it takes another 'special interest' for some groups but when it comes to them they are suppose to think that all things are equal when clearly (to them) all things arent equal when some groups have to be regarded with special notations and specifications (like a 'hate' crime instead of just a plain ol' crime).

Now if I went down the street and said loudly to any passing white folk 'look at what you did to my greatgranddaddy you Christian cross burning rats!' and threw a heavy wooden cross at them - we know it is a crime of battery and assault but is that a hate crime? Should it be?

That's might be a bad example but it's the one that came to mind that quickly.

Now I'll let you debate the merits of that and try to get back on my scenic route here...

Dammit, I had to get off the scenic route and do a stopover. Somebody slap me and send me on my merry way....

Yes, I would have liked to have lived before all this feel-good PC crap came into existance. I am not ashamed of a damn thing and it irks me to see people walking around hating themselves for whatever stupid reason they can come up with. "Oh woe is me for my ancestors were slave owners". "Oh what have I done, I am rich and should be punished." It is the mirror opposite of successful evolution. Fail.
Interesting. I would like to discuss this (I think) but not interested in derailing the thread.

Anyway, places to go. I've been wanting to move too but nothing really 'moves' me. Overall there are plenty of places I want to visit but not stay.

I have wanted to go that place that was in the movie 'Daughters of the Dust.' Some Geechie/Gullah island of the coast of the Carolinas? Love the accent.

And I'm 'moved' to go to New Orleans. I don't know what is left of that place now. Wish I could have went pre-Katrina.

I like gypsies. You know they are called 'Roma' now.
And I'll take your name (OP) to be a throwback to the movie 'The Wicca Man' 1974 original?

Anyway, mines is an eclectic mix. I like the era I'm living in now. I prefer to progress forward, not backward. Things weren't all and well for black folks to progress backwards.

I'll take todays era (2009/2010) with a 1960's black power/hippie flower power/peace vibe.
The real Woodstock 1969 not that 30 year old catastrophe remake they had a some years ago. You cant really imitate the spontaneity and free spirit of something like that. Free love, free sex, free drugs, and the black power salute complete with beret and afro.

September/October would nice. great time for dressing in victorian/medieval clothing and having a ball. Mix in a little Scott-Irish celtic music and some Hava Nigila and country hodown and break dancing (Beat Street!). Harlem renaissance sitting around the pub in 1930's-like paris with Langston Hughes and Josephine Baker and Tommy Chong with some Diggable Planets in the background... cause we cool like dat.

Talk about a thro-back!

I want a time when you could 'sneak' to Mexico without a passport and you still snuggle drugs on airplane (like in the movie BLOW. That was a good movie).

A time when Detroit was still called 'Motor City' and vibing with industrialism.

Career - something you love to do so much you'll do it for free.
But what I'd love to do, I can't because I don't have a degree.
So it's just jobs, jobs, jobs for me.
Never quite settled. Never quite happy. But until I can do different I'll leave it be.

MJ also said that he fathered his own children which we now know was a lie thanks to DNA testing.

When did this happen? A Google search on this is sending me to things like yahoo answers. And not much else.
Yeah, I never heard about DNA testing either. Even his family is going through great lengths not to have a paternity test on those children. I don't care. I figure it will all come out sooner or later whether he is the bio father or not - just like eventually those kids had to come out from under that veil. But for all other practical purposes, I do believe they are MJ's kids.

as for that subject at hand - about the guy killing himself - I don't care. What goes around comes around.

Overpopulation can be solved in countries like India, Africa, and Asia if the western world gave everyone in those countries a nuvaring. But if they are not suppose to touch their vaginas, then a deposhot. Or a patch.

Not me. I need someone to take care of me in my old age.

Sweet. I'm sure everyone in the nursing home thought that at one point.

Guess what people. Just because you had them does not mean your kids are obligated to take care of you in old age. Nope, they are not and they probably won't. For some of yous, the best you can hope for is that they visit every so often so you won't get abused or neglected by the staff. But complain too much, and you'll still get abused or neglected because no one there will want to deal with you. Your kids could have just kept you home and wiped your ass, which was something they were trying to avoid by putting you in the home.

But those without kids - are certainly welcome!

Do ANY Men Read Profiles (First or at all?)

You don't listen. If you are unlikely to read a profile then chances are you just as unlikely to listen in real life.

I said no comments on my profile. It was not necissary to read it in order to comment for this post or this thread, you could have just answered the friggin question (or not) and let it go.

Communication being of the utmost importance, some you have proven it to be your flaw.

Reminds me of the 2nd reason I just respond to threads and don't try to start one.

Thank you for your comments. Well... some of you anyway. Toodles.

Do ANY Men Read Profiles (First or at all?)
Posted: 11/19/2009 2:24:46 AM
Because if you do, make yourself known.... please?

I had this at the bottom of my profile (I had it at the bottom because I erroneously figured they would actually read the profile first)

BEFORE YOU RESPOND, PLEASE KNOW...
If you are interested in replying please tell me about yourself & why you were attracted to my ad. Invite something to talk about so we can converse with POF emailing. Brief replies & blank, bland, or generic profiles will not be answered. I do not text or chat, email only.

After getting responses where men clearly didn't read the profile, I put it at the top along with DON'T SEND ME NO BULLSH*T MESSAGES!
My profile is kinda long so I figured if they didn't make it to the end of it, they would at least read the first couple of lines.

No. Thanks to this 'quick response' feature (hate it), people are still looking at the photo and sending messages like 'nice photo' with a line or two about... nothing.
'Nice Photo'.... So is Mine.
'Nice Picture'...... holla back.
'You're Pretty'..... how are you?'

Well gee, thanks for the complement, but I do crave something with some substance. It would be nice if the guy put something in the tagline that cited something from the interest section or the profile and reference that in his message.

Do any women agree?
Do men understand this?

I had one guy message me on my picture, only to write back later (before I could respond) 'oh sorry you are married I only want single women for LTR'

Another wrote me and his profile said he is 'god fearing christian' to which I wrote back 'Did you read the profile?' I'm all for making 'friends' of the different religious persuation but obviously if this important to you there might be some 'conflictual differences.' His title line stated something about my picture also.

And if you're a guy who actually reads profiles (and without pictures, an added ) and THEN considers messaging a woman - Kudos to you! You are really special. At least you can read and want to read

ETA - No comments on my profile, I didn't ask and I don't want it. Thanks.

Closed mind and religious brainwashing vs science
Posted: 11/19/2009 1:42:13 AM

Wow that was just so friggin cool how people on seemingly opposite sides of a debate can open their mind and move just a little to see another person's side of things and admit that maybe... just maybe have a little change in thought or attitude about said subject... while still holding onto some of their most basic and fundamental beliefs (which may change or time, stay the same, or budge a little to the left, right, or straightfoward depending on the various information entering their heads.)

Wish all discussions were like so.

So back to Zeitgeist - the most thrilling theory in that movie was that our gov may be responsible for..... nah. Maybe not ready for that yet. That's sure to get this thread closed!

Note I got from a mod - THIS IS NOT A FREE SPEECH SITE!

So no (what can appear to be) anti-americanisms!

What do Atheist Holla Out During Sex?
Posted: 11/19/2009 12:47:33 AM
I'm a heathen/atheist/probable pagan and I still holla out 'oh god.'

In another thread, someone asked what do the non-religious scream out during sex - 'oh darwin, oh darwin!'

I actually tried to do that and it takes too much conscious level thought and doesn't feel right. Hollering 'oh god' feels more spontenous and natural. I thought maybe 'oh darwin' was too many syllables, so I thought maybe it would work with
oh pete!
oh john!
oh fran!
ohsirus!

I thought about it and knew that wouldn't cut it either. So I tried the spanish jesus
oh haysoos!

That went the same way as 'oh darwin' - too much thought and not naturally spontenous enough. With all the different languages I know everybody can't possibly holla out 'oh god' in english, so what's up?

Does hollering out 'oh god' just feel natural because it's what I'm use to or conditioned too? Can you be conditioned to holla out something else besides 'oh god' during sex? has anyone tried to condition themselves to holler out anything else during sex (excluding the person's name)?

Do large women like large men?
Posted: 11/19/2009 12:06:35 AM

I risk taking this way off topic, but I have to play devils advocate here...I think comparing an addiction to food to any other kind of addiction IS fair. How do people get fat? As far as ignorance goes...let me dispel it for you...you consume more calories than you burn...it gets stored as fat...do it consistently, and you become obese. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to solving it. Now to sit back and wait for the angry response...cause you know I'm right.
There is no angry response because reading comprehension is fundamental and looks as if it is something you lack.

She (I'm assuming you meant my respnse to Tiff) said that fat people don't like themselves, and in fact that they LOATHE themselves. She said all these other people (poor, lazy, neurotic, ugly, alcholics, etc) also don't like and loathe themselves. She did not mention any comparison to food or other addictions at all. Basically she is saying that fat people (and other groups she mentioned) hate themselves and therefore would not date anybody that they like themselves because they would loathe that person and the very thing they represent.

The ignorance comes in that she didn't quantify her statement and thinks that what she has to say is true for E V E R Y O N E (everyone that is fat or lazy or ulgy or druggie or alcholic or whatever). And that's not the first time she done that. If you want to want to see a thread with with a very happy and confident fat woman you should check 'What's So Sexy About FAT' (or something similar) in the Sex forum. Not every fat or big person hates or loathes themselves. And if you do hate or loathe yourself to that extent and want to lose weight - such an attitude can be detrimental to trying to help you lose weight.

And I like the devil, you can't be his advocate because you are advocating for him poorly

A different angle - Social Assistance Programs
Posted: 11/18/2009 1:17:52 PM
She is probably using the system as long as she is single. She lives with her fiance right? Chances are she not including his income anywhere (and technically she probaby doens't have too), which benefits her. He makes all that money, helps with the bills, she doesn't have to work, and yet get the social service welfare benefit.

I ain't knockin her - but given my response to other threads like these, you knew I wouldn't knock her anyway.

When she gets legally married, it harder to keep with the lies and omissions because then there's a paper trail and marriages become part of public record (I'm assuming that's the case in Canada). So she might include his income then and probably won't qualify for what she currently gets.

Multiracial on the move
Posted: 11/18/2009 12:56:34 PM

Of course that's easy for me to say ... I am already "multiracial" ... my German ancestor (also a slave) married a Native American during the Civil War while he was working as a cook for the Union Army.
Interesting. German slave? Were they white german? Actual slave or indentured?

after listening to how innocent, virtous and pure other races are for the past 40 years it will be a real hoot when that myth is blown out of the water

What group of 'minorities' was that? Sounds like Native Americans. I know it wasn't black. It's been a looooong time since we had some positive stereotypes ... have we ever?
(and no I don't count any sexual stereotype as a positive one )

Multiracial on the move
Posted: 11/18/2009 12:43:08 PM
White people do not have to worry about being a minority. It will be like South Africa because they may be a minority but still hold the power. They are the majority that owns the corporations, small business, and the Fortune 500 companies. They still hold the majority power to hire, fire, loan, rent, or send your job and position overseas!
(think about that last one for a minute - the power to send...your...job...overseas. Can't blame us for that one!).

Hispanic is NOT a race. No matter how often this is said, people still believe and treat the 'hispanic' category like a race. Within the hispanic category you have

white
blacks
indian
mixed (mestizos some of them)
native (like chechua, who DO NOT speak spanish or have it as their native language)

Hispanic countries don't categorize race like we do here, so that's why they are lumped into the race category by their langauge, not by actual race. But black hispanics know who they are, and some even consider themselves black (or negro... no not the American nee-grow, but nay-gro with a short sounding 'oh') and African heritage is often times more apparent in them than black americans. In Brazil many are recognizing themselves as African-Brazilians, Afro-Brazilians and/or African Latino. I'm glad and I think it's great but I'm not sure if going down the road to classify yourself as a race is always the greatest thing, you know? On the one hand it's great they live in a truly mixed and multi-racial country that has no definitive definition of what race one is, but on the other hand I like that Afro-Latinos, Afro-European, Afro-Brazilians, Afro-Cubans, etc, stand up and recognize 'our' and their common african heritage. And even though they didn't reconize race specifically, many in those countries still recognize (and had bias and discrimination with) skin color, especially those dark enough to be considered 'black.'

I was always sort of miffed at how some racial pundits seemed excited that hispanic 'race' was outpacing the american blacks; and some were only too happy to be catering to this new 'niche' group over the american blacks. And when you see these new 'niche' group on television, they all looked like Elian Gonzales, the Coohie Coochie lady, Andy Garcia, Edward James Olmos or Daisy Feuntes (even on their Spanish televsion or Awards Shows). They never look like Sammy Sosa, Cecelia Cruz, Zoe Saldana, Pele, Merlin Santana(Romeo from Steve Harvey Show) or anyone from the Beuna Vista Social Club.

And don't be so sure that Hispanics are going to vote Democratic. A greater number of them vote Republican than blacks (usually the very light to near-whites one. I have yet to see one black or dark skinned Latino/a at the Republican National Convention).
