Posted:

i have found that the favorites list is the easiest wayto see if there might be intrest........one day i added 2 profiles to my list because i thought i'd e mail them.and i couldnt be on very long at that time.......when i got back on.one of the ladies had removed herself.......the other hadnt.......we exchanged several pleasant e mails and still talk occasionally........so.like cowboy said.use it as a wink.....if the woman adds you....thats a definate invitation for an e mail..........if she doesnt delete it...........still worth a shot.........if deleted.......then you know

Is this a Hate Crime ?
Posted:
11/23/2009 11:54:51 PM
a hate crime is when is when a crime is committed against someone or some group because of the color of their skin....or hair........or because of their religious beliefs
prime examples of hate crimes are the lynching of blacks in the south simply because they were black...........or the nazi's extermination of jews during ww2
anythime someone does something to someone simply because they are different.........its a hate crime.....wether its killing someone because their race is different than yours......or teaseing and torementing the fat kid in school just because hes fat

miss salmon...........i feel your pain.....but i gotta admitt......i'm giggling a lil bit too
the "brown gravey" is dry..comes in packets...you usually find it in the spice isle...........you know what it is......its...well......tv dinner gravey.........cafeteria gravey........its just....brown..its not too bad................meaning its edible...[jarred gravey is usually better].....but i honestly think thats EXACTLY what the guy you mentioned had in mind.........just slice your trimmed [ugh!!!!] loin into 1/2 inch thick "chops"[ugh] and cover it with the gravey. i suggested canned mushrooms because of the eveness of the slices and the color.........thats what he pictures.........i know your knife skills makes even slices a given....but you cant quite get the color/texture without canning the mushrooms........and trust me............according to those people..."thats what mushrooms are supposed to look like!"
as far as the potatoes goes.....yup..........just boil the taters till done.....drain well.......add a splash of whole milk and half a stick of butter.........no more!.........."mash" them with an electric hand mixer...VERY IMPORTANT.....THATS HOW YOU MASH TATERS!!!!......oh..and NO SKINS...NONE!!!.........skins in mashed taters means you dont know how to peel potatos.
lol.........think of it this way......it will be your first real cooking challenge since you learned heat makes water boil

Female Athletes

in the past.many female atheletes.espically those from the soviet bloc...used steroids.....remember the olympics of the 70's?......soviet women DOMINATED......thats when steroids became illegal...
also..in the past..being a female athelete wasnt near as popular.....after all.women were expected to marry and become homemakers............being an athlete also carried the stigma of being "butch".......plus.............sports was a "mans game"....there wasnt any money in female sports.
times and social acceptance has changed............this is one area where feminism has helped women without doing any harm.

so......lets see if i got it.......you folks who think the judge was wrong.......should just have let the kid off....no consiquences for defying his authority.no wait........the kids parents should pay the consiquences...cause hes just a headstrong 14 yr old kid.....cant be his fault.....right?....family counseling?........are we sure that wasnt part of the deal?.....
like i said before...we dont have all the facts...........and with the media selectively reporting the news to put things in a way they like...........[prime examle,,sarah palins clothes.........but not 1 word about obama.......even though between him and his wife.....they got a lot more........yet not one word hit the media].
no...the basis of this thread is this........a kid was told to do something by a judge ..the kid refused....the kid got the exact same punishment that anyone else would have...........yet so many on here keep saying its wrong.....or excessive....
so what do you suggest?....well?.......we are talking about that single thing..the defying of the judges orders...........just let him get away with it?..........be honest...........it that really the message the kid needs?

College- A Dream Deferred.. Once Again, Penalizing the Poor
Posted:

something was mentioned in this thread about the national debt............i wonder how many people realise just how much college educations have contributed to the national debt?..............think about it....an 18 year old is lent $20 k to $80 k.......same 18 yr old is offered credit cards.......[and usually accepts them and uses them]....for 4 to 6 yrs.....not much is repaid...........said college grad enters the workforce..at the bottom.....and hopefully in his chosen field..........but usually not....buys a house ...a car.....yada yada yada............is barely making payments on everything BUT the student loans.............then loses his/her job................
i honestly wonder how much money in unpaid student loans is owed in this country
makes you think dont it?

ismene2..........i think you misunderstood me...........i wasnt inferring that you know nothing about childern or teens.....but that you dont.....nor can you quite understand the relations between a child and parent..........they are very.very different than the one between a teacher and child.....
i too have been quite involved in the lives of children and teens.....mostly thru coaching.......but other areas as well....with the single exception of one boy in scouting .who.....in his own parents words...."was an experiment that failed"..[his folks never told him no.........no disipline........taught him no respect for any authority at all].......i never had much trouble with any of them........but my own kids?...........thats a bit different.........no..its a lot different.
children react differently to parents than they do other authority figures......they know what buttons to push.......how hard and when to push......they know what they can get away with and they know how to use one parent against the other.
i do however agree with you about bad parenting ruining more kids and relationships.....it happens all too often....and while i'm definately against abuseing a child......a spanking applied at the right time and place does more good than 100 "time outs"............and....giving a child too much leeway is as abuseive as beating a child.
next to being a soldier in a combat zone.......parenting is proubly the toughest thing a person can do
there also comes a time in every boys life when he decides that he knows more than his dad.......or decides that hes the man of the house and hes gonna take charge of his life and start telling his folks what the rules are..........dont believe me?.....ask the guys on here.........i think you'll find that we all did it

i think every guy said something along those lines at one time or the other.
from a guys perspective......espically a guy your age op.a relationship seems overwhelming........hes just "come of age" where hes his own man.........not under his parents thumb so to speak........hes free carefree and pretty much only responsible for himself.............now your asking for a relationship?....ok....the sex and dateing and fun stuff sounds great.......but there goes the new found "freedom"....splurge spending..[splurge everything]............now theres gonna be bills...maybe kids....trade the sporty car for a mini van...no more party all night....stumble into work......gotta keep the apartment clean......gotta deal with her folks...ARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
but dont worry.....he'll come around.....just takes a few yrs

^^^..................may i ask where you got the info that his dad is a criminal?
some of you folks are reading WAY too much into this......you saw one line where "hes a good student"...........but ignore the line where the mom says hes out of control?........none of us know the particulars.......however....the judge that sentanced him does.........maybe his opinion has merit?
suppose.at the hearing.........when the judge told the kid....."either visit your dad or i'll hold you in contempt".........the kid just smirked and said "whatever"?..........you cant see a teenager doing that?...............whatt exactly should the judge have done in such a situation?
what if the kid refused to go because his dad made him shower before he went to bed?......or said no tv?................maybe the dad insisted he bring his homework along so it gets done?.........
i suppose you think that the kid should just be let to his own divices,,,,,,,,,,,,make all his own decisions...be allowed to do whatever he likes and to hell with any authority?
in honesty....with the facts i have now..........proubly the best thing that could happen to that kid is the judge issue his balif a paddle and send the kid and the balif out to the woodshed

think about it......other than food service or barbershops/beauty parlors.....have you ever been tipped?.....in 25 yrs of bricklaying.....i've gotten tipped twice.....once with a bbq on the last day we were there...........and once i got $100 for finishing a job before the weekend..........yes i know waitstaffs are usually underpaid and depend on tips.......and if service is better than average....[ie.service at mcdonalds]..then i'll tip...............but "just doing your job"........sorry......you want extra,,,,,,,,,you give extra............except for super bad service.......in that case i leave one penny

the thing is..........DO YOU KNOW THE KIDS REASONS?.......your defending him like you have intimate knowledge of the facts.........do you?
i'll play devils advocate.ok?......
suppose this kid is a playstation junkie?.............givin his wishes.thats all he would do.......his father sees this as a not so good thing.....plus.......he loves his son and wants to do father son stuff with him........so he forbids playstation........the kid dont like it.....so he refuses to go.......now.....how exactly is the father in the wrong?......or the judge?
maybe the dad doesnt allow mountain dew in his house...and thats all the kid wants to drink?
neither one of those things would label the kid as bad....yet both are things that a headstrong teen is quite capable of doing.
i do agree that something seems a tad harsh.....however..........untill ALL the facts are known............you gotta think that the judge might be right

also......thinking about it.....to have lived in a past time.but not knowing was was going to happen.[like the 1849 gold rush]..sure.i'd love to have been there.......but i'd also want to have the knowledge about it that i have now........or going back to the 50's and 60's to hunt and fish some of the places i do now...i'd want the equiptment i now have...........i kinda think thats how we all would like to do it

another trick with a cooler is to DOUBLE line it with FOLDED IN HALF towels......[4 layers of matieral minimum]...then heat bricks in the oven....heat for an hr at 200....put the bricks in the cooler...[enough to cover the bottom] and put the food in....pack with towels or newspaper.......will keep something....or several somethings very warm for a long long time

its definately a crime.and one inspired by hate...............[i dont go along with the politically correct "hate crime" motto.a crime is a crime]
i think that the woman who yanked the scarf should be publically punished by having her head shaved and then get about 10 good swats with a paddle or a belt........again.....in public..............that would definately "show her the error of her ways"......not to mention be a fairly good deterrent

and to the people who think you need an education to have a career....[several teachers i've known,,they all had a "holier than thou "attitude].........all i can say is that the recently retired president of our local bank......which incidentally is listed as 1 of the 5 most secure banks in america......only had an 8th grade education............yet under him.....the bank flourished

lets see....take 2 bushels of shelled field corn......and a bushel of dried shelled sweet corn...........put em all an a barrel and cover with good spring water for a day..........then dump the barrel and spread the corn out....let it sprout then sweep it up and grind it up.......put it back in the barrel..and fill the barrel...[a wooden barrel is best] with good spring water.....[iron free is best]............then let it ferment......[you can add some sugar...but dont go crazy]........after its fermented about a week.......check it....if its got that sour fermented smell............pour it into the copper kettle.......

Walmart sets its sights on ruling the retail world.

this thread is starting to be funny..............sad too.lets think about it.walmart isnt union............the auto companys are...most people have blamed the unions for the auto companys failing.....mebbe walmart has it right....
walmart sells chineese junk........ok.........show me a strore that sells american made hasbro or mattel toys...........oh yeah....thx to nafta...there arent any.........
walmart sells "brand name" merchindise......maybe not "top of the line".........but think about it..............they sell the most popular names..............ie.what the majority of americans want......the way i see it.....walmart wants to sell to as many customers as possible.............so why not target the biggest......by far the biggest ......crowd of shoppers?
another thing about the "mom and pop" shops............20 yrs ago........you needed a day to go shopping...............you needed to visit 3.4....5 stores to get everything................now...its one trip to walmart for everything.......i think that plays a big role too.
finally.............sam walton.....the founder of walmart.......at one time had a policy that he would sell NOTHING that wasnt american made unless you couldnt find it made in america........he was pretty adminate about it too...........of course......his stores were only in the south...and there wernt a lot of them.............when he finally relented........thats when walmart took off...........though while he was still alive......it was "american made first".........them imports................it wasnt untill sam died and his children took over that walmart became what it is today.
personally.......i'll shop at walmart..........my money is limited....why should i pay a mom and pop store $10 for something i can buy at walmart for $5?.........mom and pop dont pay their help much.......if any more than walmart does.
when walmart came to my town.....there was a huge outcry about how they would drive away all businesses................to date......1 store has closed............yes i'll miss that hardware store because they had a bit of everything...............BUT........they were very expensive.....and.........they were planning on closeing anyway because they had pretty much priced themselves out of business........not to mention........they employed 3 or 4 people....walmart employes over 100...............sorry......but walmart is a pretty good neighbor wherever they open a store........they must be doing something right..........they keep getting bigger

Why is violence for self defence acceptable by law since you can just run away instead?

good grief op....................if the laws were written like that..............your basically telling criminals all they need to do is threaten violence and the victim must run away or else THE VICTIM becomes the criminal!
kinda like asking a hungry dog to guar your steak

Does kissing warrant sex on the first date?

some males expect sex simply for breathing.............
most guys get their hopes up if theres a few "serious" kisses.....
real men wait till they feel a genuine emotional attatchment and " the time is right"

candy apple

1 shot apple schnapps......[not the same thing as apple pucker]
1 shot amaretto
splash of captn morgan spiced rum
enough grenidine to make it "candy apple red"
tastes exactly like a candy apple
