Battery Lawnmowers
Posted: 4/24/2014 9:30:03 PM
theres one more choice.........you can get lawnmowers and snowblowers with gas engines that you can plug into an extension cord to start them.............simply unplug the extension cord from the mower after its started and its a regular gas mower

Nicer homes should equal higher taxes?
Posted: 4/2/2014 4:48:45 AM
i find it rather amusing that a lot of folks want to stop paying school taxes once their children no longer are in school......................but they didnt mind reaping the bennifits while their kids were in school

trust me......i know all about the burden of rising taxes and a fixed income.......been there, done that.cant afford the t shirt

i think something that would be fair............and very much appreciated......is that when the household goes to a fixed income.........or the owner becomes widowed........at that time the taxes are frozen till the situation improves

also......in my area........my taxes have gone up twice.............way up...........to the point that there was no way i could possibly get that much for my place..........while trying to get my taxes set at a reasonable price......i found out how they accessed properties............instead of sending someone to look at my property.......they simply set the price at what similar homes were selling for...............my 100 yr old semi on a small lot was valued the same as newly built homes sitting on nice lots................and seeing as how there were 2 very large developments built in the 2 yrs prior.......my house was accessed at about $30k more than i could ever hope to get.........it is possible to get your taxes lowered..........but be prepared for a long fight.............those people dont care.........and they have the final say unless you take it before a judge

to answer green thumbz..........yes.they changed the law to where it says something along the lines that any structure inhabited for 6 months a year or more qualifies as a residence......but since he did it before the change.his rates wont increase to residential levels

people are talking about zoning laws and building codes like they are universal............you couldnt be more wrong..........in a township 15 min away from where i live.one of the supervisors once stated at a meeting....."if your walking across your yard with a hammer in one hand......you better have a permit in the other one telling me what your going to do with it"........things got so out of hand that the people finally woke up and voted the entire bunch out of office...........it was at the point that if a branch broke off of a tree and broke a window.......you were required to get a permit before any repairs were made

in contrast....in the town i live in.......i put on a new porch roof............concreted the porch and poured a walkway in my yard.........no permits needed...........i can even put brick veneer on my house without a permit............stuff like that is considered repairs and matinence............in the township that surrounds my town...........i would have needed a permit

deceive......no........get around................yes..........could he get away with it today?......no way

he did it because he was pissed at the local school board.......at first he was going to just park a big rv trailer there to prove a point........did some research and figured a way to use the barn

at the time he did it.....it was written up in the local papers

see,,,,,,,you either didnt read.........or didnt understand what i first said

the guy bought a 2 acre plot of farmland.....on that land stood a pole barn and a well.............a pole barn is a barn thats built on a framework of pole.........[a lot like telephone poles]...thats sided and a roof put on

what he did was build a 2 story house inside the pole barn without tearing it down.........the house of course doesnt have siding...........just plywood outer walls..........the inside is fully finished..........and aside from the lack of windows......you wouldnt know it was inside a barn

the big double doors are locked..........and the entrance's are on the ends

as i said..hes a member of the local fire dept.......the volinteer fire dept.........and, seeing as he has lived in that town all his life........i'm pretty sure he knows the zoning officer....as well as the building inspectors..............however.since the land it sits on and is surrounded by is all zoned agricultural......he i taxed accordingly

as far as the insults reguarding my knowledge of local building and zoning laws and taxation...........i do believe i might just be a bit more informed than you seem to think you are.......after all..........i spent better than 30 yrs in the trade............but,,,,,i do refuse to match wits with you..........it seems it makes you feel good by putting others down.........and i honestly do hate to spoils anyones fun

Is there any excuse in this electronic age for losing track of a loaded passenger plane?

well..a device like that sounds great......not sure if it exists though.........to be tough enough to withstand an impact intact.........plus battery life for a very strong transmitter.....you might not get much else on the plane

uhhhhhhhhhhh......no irish...............it has plumbing, heating electric.....a working fireplace and yes......ALL inspections and codes were followed

i have no idea about his insurance....thats really none of my business........as far as the fire dept............seeing a how hes a member.......i doubt that would be a problem

and why on earth couldnt he sell it?..and sell it as a home?

mebbe before you jump to conclusions and spouting "facts"..........you should check into zoneing laws and see exactly what the discription is for buildings and how they are taxed

his place isnt really a secret.......and yes indeed........the real estate tax folks know all about it.....[and arent real happy about it]..........but he is completely and totally legal.........he just found a good loophole and exploited it

well eric.....in the case of a fully finished basement......that is an improvement.......it enhances the selling price....therefore the taxes..........try adding an extra half bath and see how much the taxes go up as opposed to..say a fireplace

there are ways around this........i worked on a house that was built inside of a pole barn..........the guy literally bought 2 acres of farmland an built a big pole barn on it...........then...over the next 3 yrs,,,,,,,,, built a complete house inside the pole barn...........only thing missing are windows.......though there are sky lights........the last thing he built was another pole building thats really a 2 car garage...........his taxes?.........$42 a year on each acre and $36 a year for each "improvement"

sadly..i dont know if its possible........your cooking the carrots for a long time in brown liquid

i suppose you could cook the carrots seperatly.....then add then in for the last 30 min or so........but then they wouldnt add any flavor to the dish.....nor absorb any

as long as it tastes good.let it be......spice up the color with bright colored garnishes

theres been a lot of posts about........."is burglery worth 50 yrs"?.......interesting question

i say yes........in several ways......suppose the thieves took something that it took the owner 30 years to aquire?........how about if they stole the wedding rings of a couple married for 50 years?..........stole the family photo album that contained the pictures of a familys lifetime?......never mind the felony murder charge...

yes....things are just objects.......a tv is a tv...........jewelry is just jewlery............unless of course its your grandmothers ring that your grandfather worked for 3 yrs to be able to afford............or its the hobby horse that your dad built for you when you were born........................say they steal $1000 from you.......big deal right?...its just $1000...........but supposed its the $1000 that you've been saving up for the past 10 yrs to take your spouse on the honeymoon you never had?

sorry folks..........a thief deserves every single second of jail time they are sentanced to..and in many cases a lot more

message 52..drama queen?.....the intruders were armed.....at least 1 was............4 punks being scared away?.....pretty doubtful.............and oh yeah..............you get into quite a few criminal charges if you "fire a round to let them know you mean business"....................seriously..............there are fewer things you can be charged with if you shoot and wound/kill an intruder than if you fire a warning shot............oh yeah......i'm already at risk if someone breaks into my house..............no need to find out if the intruder is going to try to kill me..........thats a given when he broke in

sorry..but if i'm going to be a victim of a crime........its gonna be a break in...not a beating or a murder......i'll take no chances

i'm sorry.......but by the time i was 16.i dang well knew the differance between right and wrong

loving and coddling a criminal might make you feel good....but all it does for them is give them a breather.....i'm in favor of long sentances..put a rapest in jail for 50 yrs....thats 50 yrs he wont be doing it

most criminals are they way they are because they dont want to work for things they want.they want them now and are willing to do what it takes to get it........i'm sorry....i've worked hard for everything i own........there isnt a person alive who has any right to take it from me...............whatever happened to."you do the crime.you do the time"?

and i'm sorry....prison rehabilitates dang few criminals anymore.....maybe in the past when the prisoners were required to work...........

to our vets
Posted: 11/14/2013 8:05:46 AM
viet nam was the first war we lost...........korea was considered a tie......which left a bad taste in many peoples minds

you have to look at the thought process.......in korea...........macaurther was fired..the reasons werent really told to the public.....and many people thought macauther was a true hero........then we pulled out before we won.......after korea......we had all the rabid anti communist hype that after a bit of time passed..most people saw as the smoke screen it turned out to be.....along comes viet nam....at first.people supported the war.........but then you started seeing it on tv every night.............and instead of the media supporting the troops.........they started sensationlizing the horrors of war.........they slid the heroic stories to the back burner...and pushed the "bad" stories.....[mostly for rateings]

the media coverage was new............in past wars..the military screened and censored most media coverage....espically after the story about patton slapping soldiers

the worst thing about the media coverage in nam was.....it dug up everything it could to show bad things americans did..............but reported zero of the atrocities committed by the viet cong...they were portrayed as innocent freedom fighters
