My do's and dont's...
Posted: 10/21/2007 12:40:53 PM
Tyee
You hit it right on the money, and speaking of money, hears my two bits worth.
Ya my profile is old and actually not very good for grabbing a ladies attention, but if you have met me you may understand that what you see is "NOT" always what you get.
I hope this thread stays and grows it could be very useful

I feel that every one should have a face and fully clothed body shot and if you are shy and have a legitimate reason for not doing this then if you right someone, in other words you are showing you are interested in them in some way then you should send these pix with the first email you send them.
I have been on this sight for quite a while and co-hosted and hosted events and been to so many that I lost count over a year ago, what's my point?
Don't judge people by what you read or the pix you see "Meet Them" or go lurk at an event and see for your self . As for all my pix they are all from pof events and the others are just a very few of the fantastic friends I have made here, lots count of you guys too but you know who you are and also know that I like to add more friends all the time. And maybe one day the lady that is to win my heart will show up.

Your right FF the dates did change to 22-24 of June, I think if I clicked on a post the was per the date change.
As far as camping only I never check with the resort but if you call them I don't think it would be an issue but rafting is the main theme and will consume most of Sat and Sun.

A train passing ten feet from your tent at 3am, can I have to admit, be rather stimulating, but ponder this.
We are fish while camping does not lead to sleep, trains or no trains. Enough fresh air sunshine exercise fun dancing and stimulants and you will sleep between trains just fine.
Oh ya in case you hadn't noticed the railways are on strike or effected by the CP rail strike I don't think it will be over anytime soon according to a friend who is on strike.
But all said and done we will have fun and those that thought about going and didn't will once again wish they had when the fun is done.

Anyone wanting to go. YOU not us must contact the resort asap and ask them if only camping I am sure they can accommodate a few more and possibly a couple of more rafters as we have nearly enough to fill one and they may not have 2-3 from the general pubic that want to go with a bunch of down a river without a paddle.
Call them now if you want any chance of going and please let me know it you are going as I haven't time to contact everyone to find out status and weather or not you want to convoy up.

Younger Event.. Keith Suggests
Posted: 5/27/2007 10:48:37 PM
First off welcome to the pond kriss
I f I could suggest you come out to and event and meet some of us old fogies and at the same time introduce yourself to some of the younger people that come out to these events and you will quickly realise that we aren't so different from you, and that age doesn't matter if your making friends. I have many friends under 35 and a few around 20. In the past year I have attended far to many events to recall them all but I have to agree with you that the majority are closer to forty +
I have talk to many younger people that would like something that would draw a younger crowd but so far I have heard very few ideas from them that aren't already being done.
I do know that the pub parties are held in the same pubs with the same bands that would be there weather we were or not and age doesn't matter then.
Cone out and meet some of us and talk to us and many will help you get started hosting.
Just remember if it sounds like fun you will just have to put up with us old timers showing up.

Thanks for the heads up tmac.
I think they mention the trains in their brochure as a part of the river, and if you have ever camped along any major river in BC you know the trains run at nite, I personally love trains and as long as I'm not right on the tracks it doesn't bother me much.
Maybe next time you will join us.

I have only heard back from a couple of people in regards to a convoy up and still only have 5-6 confirmed as fully paid.
I hope everyone has and.........PLEASE contact me and let me know what's up.
If you don't want to convoy that's ok but this is a group activity and we should all arrive Friday evening in time to set up camp and relax a little as we are starting with breakfast at about 8:30 am then on the river about 9:30 10
DON"T FORGET YOUR CAMERA
I will be packed and picking up my navigator early Fri so we can all meet up around 11 to 12 somewhere yet to be determined.

TALK TO ME be nice now

I just Talked to the resort and there are only 5 of us paid in full and 5 only paid deposit.

Katie- at the resort said you can still sign up via credit card for two or three more days and then that's all folks.
Still thinking a convoy is a good idea but we need to know so those plans can be put in place.
I know we are all busy and never seem to have time but I am willing to set up all that's required for a convoy just need to know.

Ok so I read your profile and pretty much all the post everyone put up here. I normally wouldn't even bother responding to this type of thread but I can see what your problem may be and perhaps a relatively easy way to deal with it.
First of a little back ground because it may help you understand I am being straight with you, and beleive me your not the only person male or female with this problem, and age has squat to do with it.
I'm 52 and after more than 20 years of a wonderful marriage it went down the toilet and as this isn't about me we'll leave that, but I will say that at this point I moved back to Canada, lived in the south mostly, well I had been out of the dating seen longer than you've been alive and so had absolutely not frigging idea where or how to meet ladies.
I tried everything on the planet and yes did a lot of reading and talking and soul searching.
Although I have had a couple of semi- long term relationships since getting divorced I'm still single but ok with it now.
What I did and may I suggest trying, some of the people on here have given you some great information and you should take the time to read it as advice compile a list of the suggestions that sound ok to you and don't give the blow up doll and hooker advice as anything more that someones attempt at a joke, not to say the way you come across you don't deserve some kidding, but as I said I read your profile and I know you are just having a problem dealing with a problem that doesn't come with instructions .
1) Who's the girl on your back, if she is an ex get her off your back and put her in the history book somewhere under the heading =Forget=
if she's anyone that your not and have not slept with get a pic with just you, as advised above and if you want to keep it or can't get an other pic explain who she is, she is cute and that in it's self can make a women shy away.
2) rewrite your profile and don't allow any negative stuff ALL OF IT!!!!!!
By your other pics it looks like your into some form of marshal arts, TALK ABOUT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're not a bad looking guy and the ladies always like to be with a guy who seems like he can protect them but is basically a teddy bear.
Hide the anger and learn to get rid of it, it is a huge turn off for everyone m/fm.
3) When it comes right down to it to some degree or other we are all lonely, unhappy, and if single and on a dating site, probably horny but the only sure way to change that is all from within you. I think most will agree that if you say things like "I'm shy and not good with people/women until they get to know me" or anything that even hints in this direction will only get you someone more shy, confused and lonely and so you probably will never meet anyway. So think about this, you do marshal arts so you have to have some confidence in your self SO UTILIZE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4) You say you plan on going to ITT good on you you have ambition and some drive and you can read and write so talk a little about you hope to accomplish YOU GOT BRAINS USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!
5) The sooner you realize, took me dam near 40 years ya like you really wanted to hear that, STOP LOOKING SO HARD or looking altogether. And before you know it she will be right there on your arm and maybe soon to be in your bed.
6) If you are going to write someone, read their profile completely and when you write them , ask something about them or something you don't understand that they put in it or something like " I see you like blah blah blah I'm into that and go do did ect" and you will get far more responses.
7) Every ones lucky#, and I'm just about done I live in Vancouver Canada, where this web sight originated, and this advice is for everyone on here and I am certain many of you don't know this.....The guy that started this site was 25 yrs old on Lava and frustrated about as much as I'm sure you are. He decided to use what he had and make it work for him, being a computer nerd, sorry Marcus, he started PoF, ya Canadian home grown idea. No I'm not saying start a dating site and you will find her, although that's what happened to him and they run the site very well together.
What I'm saying is START READING!!!!!! right here.
There are tons of PoF events going on and if for some reason there aren't then start something anything Post it and they will come, if you want to learn more READ and then contact any site mod or party host, even me and any of us will be glad to help via email. This is what I want you to do FIND AN EVENT & GO HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!
As I said I wasn't meeting anyone and one day a very sweet kind lady emailed me and told me to get off the computer and come have some fun and meet people, I did and haven't looked back for one second. Some stats I have been going to events for less than a year and have met I'm sure close to 600 people and that could be much higher # but I can't remember all of them , Think I'm full of it check the Canada/BC party threads and you will beleive and if you check the pics you will see me and a great many other fish and I can assure you I have met them all and can name most of them and some have become very close and dear friends IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just co-hosted an event at a local pub, with the help of said friends thanks guys love ya, they read this s**t all the time, well about 175 showed up and that was far from the largest group we've had at an event. The ladies out numbered the guys a little but close enough that there were plenty of in our little pond. Age range guys and girls 19- 75 all having fun together and ya I'm sure lots got laid,I'm sure , I didn't feel better.
I was very shy going into this but said what the hell get at it or leave, having to much fun and have no plans on leaving anytime soon.
That's All Falks
Short form zip your fly, change your profile pt a smile on your face and get out there so she can find ya. Your young good looking smart and with a little effort your only problem will be deciding what to do when they find you GO!!!!!!!!!

Everyone please let Christina Ron or myself know your payment status. I am calling tomorrow to try and get info but we would really like to know as maybe a convoy up would work and that can be a lot of fun and makes sure we all get there and with fewer worries.

A huge thanks to all the regulars that took the time to meet and greet the newbies
I never for a second thought so many would actually come out in PJ's
Thanks to the bar staff and pub regulars once again the fishies kinda took over

Those that have pictures please contact me, and please I'm new at this and also I'm going to the Jam to night so be patient and we will get them up.

PAJAMA BIRTHDAY PARTY RICHMOND/STEVESTON - BUCK & EAR MAY 12 th
Posted: 5/12/2007 2:06:18 PM
Welcome 4uv1j don't worry about buying new jammies the fir ones sound very interesting and naughty too.
Just a few more hours and we
If anyone, DDs only please, is coming from North Burnaby and has room for Spud could you please contact him asap he can get there but needs a ride home, I would be happy to but I am pretty sure I will be in no condition to walk him home let alone drive, just doesn't seem right without spud on board.
We are going to try something a little different with the glo bracelets this time. There will be one color if you are or feel you are a regular and an other color for those that are newbies. We are also using name tags and just to keep everyone happy if you don't want any of it that's ok too.
For those that don't understand the purpose of the bracelets, here it is.
If this is your first , second or maybe even your third event your probably a newbie.
If you have been to 4or more but are still not feeling comfortable then you are probably a newbie.
If you've been to a dozen or more and don't know anyone then your probably a stocker
The idea is for everyone to have an idea of who the fish are, it's not a closed party and the buck is very popular, but most important it helps us regulars/hosts to identify someone who seems to be feeling alone or out of place so we can introduce you around and turn you into a regular.
The reasons for name tags , to many people attending that don't have a pic posted so we can figure out who the heck you are and help you meet others and it saves your butt if you can't remember their name and are in a situation where you need to
Just come have fun and do as you please .
One last note as far as I'm concerned any poor behavior that is deemed inappropriate, the bar staff will deal with, we are just here to have fun.

Gail welcome out and for you and everyone who hasn't read all the previous threads
THERE ARE NO RULES OR DRESS CODES
The theme is Pajama Party.
If you don't have any and don't wish to buy any, don't just come.
I personally have found it is easier to fit into a theme party dressed in something that fits the theme, but you come, wear, and do what makes you comfortable.
One more sleep
See you there and please come say hi I love meeting new people and making friends.

Sorry to hear you aren't coming Spud
You don't need pj's to come so if we can find you a ride would you come?
There has to be someone else that can transport you, I would be happy to but I'm just not going to have time due to everything else I need to do to get myself there on time.
Anyone that can help Spud out, that is if he wants it maybe you could email him
Too all others that are still not sure YOU DO NOT NEED TO WARE PJ's just come have fun.!!!!!!!!

Emerald sea and I went to the Buck Tuesday and reserved about one third of the bar and have another 1/3 if we need it.
When you enter we will be at the door and our section will be everything from the door to the pool room, not sure it they include that but we can easily that it over.
We also have the entire dance floor and private outside smoke pit. This is seating for about 120 and easy to move out toward the bar.
As there are quite a few not signed and so many newbies and people without pix, once again we are going to use glow bracelets and name tags, ya I know some don't like them ,but it's the law ya right Just dont ware it if you don't want to but it helps us as well as all the newbies and us oldies too
We have a few surprises in store too so come on out and party in the pond.

Kumsheen - White Water Rafting - Thompson River - June 22-24 2007
Posted: 5/9/2007 11:40:46 PM
OK Listen up people !!!!!!!!
If you have not paid your deposit or paid in full you have until May 22 for Kumsheen to receive your payment in full.
Christina has asked me to help her as she is very busy and for some strange reason I'm not
If you could email one of the hosts and let one of us know the status of your payment so we have an accurate count.
I will be contacting the resort Thursday or Friday for exact details on meals and what we need and don't.
My confirmation does not show meals on Friday or after breakfast Sunday, may be a error or we need to supply our own.
For the meals not supplied maybe we can communal cook and save a lot of hassle.
Your thoughts please.
Please check my postings here for up dates.
Gotta go find my snorkel and flippers now

Good to see your coming Al, it's been awhile since we've seen you.
We will add you and your friend to the B-Day list and look forward to seeing you.
Oh lost my needle & thread too but found a roof tacker that should work just fine to fix the the slit in your sexy gown and as Jo is helping host we decided she can check any and all attire she deems necessary for authenticity

Like Tony said no you don't have to wear any costume to any event but wouldn't it be fun if everyone did and you don't have to spend a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$ to do it the most I have ever spent on a making a costume for an event was $10 this one might break $12
even a robe and slippers and street clothes underneath.
If you are not sure email one of the hosts and we will be glad to give you some ideas.
Ok you guys strat thinking cause I'm out of ideas at the moment
!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT"S ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN AND MEETING PEOPLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey likearidin bring the horse and I will horse sit it all the way for you. And as moutainlion isn't coming and Dennis has mass mailed the bears it should work unless the horse( don't know it's name or gender) is afraid of it should be fine.
Aw please Dennis I am only hesitating about signing up is cause I'm to used to sitting to get where I'm going not over weight but out of shape but as I can dance a night away and want more maybe I could pretend I'm dancing up the trail
Oh and by the way ML as I was having to much fun on said night I refuse to respond to your dig but could say nice things about you if you know that gorgous lady that I spent the evening with(not a fishie)
Oh well I've always been interested in saquatches so let's go hiking
D I'll sign up as soon as I'm certain.
If someone is thinking of going and whether or not I am and you need a piece of camping equipment for this email me and we can see what can be arrange, Camping is the best way to meet and really get to know someone.

Like Billy said New name there were a few ladies your age range last year and you can bet when it happens and we are all out there having fun age won't enter into it.
The offer to bring the wood is a very nice gesture and much appreciated but not necessary unless you want to bring it and stay you are and all others very welcome to come out even if only for the day. Please remember we have to bring our own food and drinks so if you come out for the day or evening BRING BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a whole different world of fun.

Anyone who misses this will be sorry and just have to ask what it was like .
Also anyone who is not comfortable wearing PJ's in public, consider this. It's summer or close enough and you could wear shorts and a tee underneath or if that doesn't work for you come out and have fun anyway it is not a rule to get in. but I know from experience if you dress up you will have fun.
And look at all the teens that seem to go everywhere in PJ's and they don't show off their figure anymore than sweats.
Come have some fun with us.

Gas
Posted: 5/3/2007 3:51:45 PM
There is a thread for a gas ban on May 15 in the states so why not gotta remember to fill up on the 14th though, for all the frigging good that would do for a one day ban.
In the summer of 05 I down sized from a 3/4 van to my little 4 banger truck( which I love)
It was costing me about $270 a week then, when I bought said truck it dropped to about $90 guess what @$1.27 I'm up to about $100-120 a week so what the f**k do you do?
For those of you that think you can write it off if you have a business
I spent, not counting insurance, and payments, about $1500 on maintenance & $6300on gas and got credit for about$2800 and you gotta put it out for a year to even get that.
So the only way a gas strike has any chance of working requires a great many people not buying gas for at least a week and as most of us can't do that the idea of boycotting one brand at a time is far more appealing and more likely to have some impact.
Now that I'm up for.
