Is it ok to ask for your wedding ring back after divorce?
Posted: 8/18/2008 7:14:13 PM
I've never been married, nor divorced.
I say no. Although it is a symbol of your union, it was also a gift you gave to her.
Asking for it back would be like asking her to return the nightie you gave her on St. Valentines Day; you both enjoyed it while you were together, but it serves no purpose to you now that you are split up, and it probably won't fit your next SO.

Cancer do you think most cancers will be curable in a few years?
Posted: 8/18/2008 2:13:18 AM
Sources, please?

http://www.advancedhealthplan.com/2cesiumchlorideforcancer2.html

I don't know how much chemistry you know but that's not true at all. All salts are toxic, even common table salt. What salts are you refering to as innocuous? I don't know of any.

Cesium Chloride, Cecium Carbonate, NaCl...when given in controlled doses, like regular saline solution used in IV's (0.9% NaCl), are not fatal. Of course, you are correct in assuming anything given in excess can be harmful. Even drinking too much water can kill you.

Actually, that's wrong. The toxicity of "common salts" as you call them is fairly well known. If the treatment proves positive, all the FDA would have to do is review the toxicity information of these salts to determine risk vs benefit. Chronic tests with these salts have probably not been done but long-term risk can be dismissed for all types of adult cancer, but not for childhood cancers.

Well, the funding problem still remains; but in regards to what you said, they allow saline solution to be sold over the counter, which is a simple salt.

The pharmaceutical companies and their lobbyists have nothing to say when it comes to this type of cancer testing. The testing would be done by NCI and their results would go straight to the FDA. The only thing that would stop the treatment is if it failed the risk/benefit analysis.

Don't blame the FDA for not approving therapies that don't work or are too toxic for normal use.

I'm not talking about testing, I'm referring to the fact that if a real cure for cancer is found in something as abundant and easily attainable as a simple salt, do you think the pharmaceutical companies will let the FDA approve it? If you think money doesn't talk in Washington, you have much to learn.

2012 pole shift
Posted: 8/17/2008 10:29:27 PM
December 21, 2012. The date the Mayan calendar ends. The supposed date of a shift into the spiritual enlightenment phase of humans according to Mayan astrologers. The supposed date of Armageddon according to the Christians.

4 days before I give and receive gifts based on a religious (Christian, although originally a pagan holiday known as Yule) holiday according to me.

It's a date set in the future, therefore we know nothing of what will happen on that day.

The only thing we can be sure of is if the Mayans are correct and we move in to a new age where humans become spiritually aware and in tune with the earth's life cycle, then we can expect a complete disregard of all monotheistic beliefs.

So, if the Mayans are right, then the Christians are right, as well. How so, you ask?

The inoculation of humans with a sense of spiritual awareness whereas they become enlightened to the workings of the universe would obliterate any belief of a divine being other than one's own mind. In effect; the end of religion as we know it, id est, Armageddon.

So either both the Mayans and the Bible are correct, or they are both wrong. We'll see.

^^ IMO Spanish should be taught alongside English from early grade school years on. This makes common sense given this country's position just north of a Spanish-speaking country, and the projected future numbers of Spanish speakers here (30-35% of the US population by 2025, per the reports in the Chicago Sun-Times about the 2007 US Census Bureau's figures).
It does not in any way shape or form "dilute" the American-ness of the kids learning it; it only makes them better smarter and more culturally enriched Americans. As opposed to barely being able to speak one language properly, many of them could be usefully proficient in two languages that are both very important in this hemisphere.

We should concentrate on ensuring our children speak English proficiently before attempting to teach them another language. Every day, by people both young and old, I hear the English language butchered beyond reparation.

I agree it doesn't dilute our sense of American culture (which, in effect, is just an amalgamation of previously established cultures that has grown into a culture of its own) to learn another language. If anything, learning a foreign language further perpetuates the American culture by being an attribution to what American culture is. But I maintain, we should make sure our children are proficient in our native tongue before mandating that they learn other languages.

Cancer do you think most cancers will be curable in a few years?
Posted: 8/17/2008 7:15:18 PM
What cancer does to cells is turn off PCD, thus granting the cell immortality.
It has been found that simple salts introduced to cancerous cells re-activate normal cell apoptosis, effectively causing any cell that is significantly damaged to destroy itself, like any normal, non-cancerous cell would.
The beauty of simple salts is that they have no effect on healthy cells.
This is, in essence, a cure for cancer. The only problem and roadblock now is getting funding to research this idea further and, of course, approval by the FDA.
Good luck getting it past the pharmaceutical lobbyists.

Dreams
Posted: 8/17/2008 6:55:19 PM

It was inside a giant, red... fleshy... ball... thing, filled up about 10' with water. The fleshy thing was filled with 200-250 or so people treading water, no idea who any of them were. For the whole dream, I was swimming around under the surface, pulling people under and clawing them to pieces, ripping limbs off, leaving huge gashes across chests, faces, backs, everything. Everyone else just kept treading water, oblivious to the blood, the dead bodies and the severed limbs and heads. The more I killed, the higher the water mark got, but it turned redder and redder, with the blood of the people I'd killed. Eventually, I'd killed them all and the "water" reached the top, where there was a sorta... tunnel. As soon as I step into the tunnel, I'd wake up.

That is your subconscious telling you it is your calling in life to enlighten people. The fleshy bubble is the world. The people treading water are the people floating through life. The fact they remained oblivious to the death going on around them is synonymous with people's ignorance and aloof attitude to all the shit going on in the world. You, however, swimming under the surface, know better. You must share your esoteric knowledge with the masses. Most will shrug it off, but some will listen. Once you shred (enlighten) enough people, you will be set free from whatever personal prison you are currently trapped in. Only you know what I am talking about. Good luck.

The United States of America - A Monoglot Society
Posted: 8/17/2008 6:45:02 PM
Is it wise to remain a monolingual nation in our approach to education, business,
national security, and international relations ?

Yes. A country needs a single established language in which to communicate. I'm not saying refrain from learning other languages at your whim, I relish and encourage learning as much as you see fit.

How can the USA remain a dominating world power when many people have no
interest in learning about a variety of languages and cultures ?

English is our official language as a nation and to live a life within the US requires only that you speak it. In the case of dealing with other nations on a diplomatic level, that's why we have linguists and interpreters.

There is no sense of urgency to learn a foreign language since many don't travel
and don't feel a need to learn about the rest of the world.

Exactly.
On a slightly related note, America is not a 'melting pot', it's more like a tossed salad bowl. We don't need to acclimate ourselves and absorb the nuances of every culture in order to remain a successful nation of varied cultures, instead we just have to learn to accept people and their differences for who and what they are, respectfully. It's a really simple and easily attainable precept.

Finding the Ultimate Vibrator
Posted: 8/17/2008 6:05:36 PM
I am single and at my sexual peak. I have been for several years now. When not in a relationship or between dates, I find myself needing to masturbate.

I find myself needing to masturbate even when I'm not single, not at my sexual peak, in a relationship, and during dates.
Well, not during dates, but you get the point.
Just hit up your local sex shop and ask them-they are pros. Until then, use the water pressure from removable shower heads, I've known a few girls who got off that way.

I would think she's either
a.) desperate or
b.) she does this often, so she's bound to have some sort of VD.
Either way, I wouldn't jump on it with an enthusiastic "yes!"

I've always wondered ... why do men lie about having sex with a girl?
Posted: 8/17/2008 4:25:49 AM
I see it so often in these forums...generalizations. They really get me.
What is so hard about saying, "why did HE lie about having sex with a girl" as opposed to , "why do MEN lie about having sex with a girl" ? Or better yet, "what causes a man to lie about having sex with a woman?"

The one (or possibly two) man (men) that you've had this experience with that caused you to start this thread in no way, shape, or form speak for the billions of men on this planet.

Please, when you are frustrated with one man, don't assume every man exhibits the same qualities that upset you. Keep in mind every one of the 6 billion+ people on the planet are unique in their own way.

To answer your question, men don't lie about having sex with women. The guy your post is alluding to lied about having sex with a woman so as to save face in front of his friends. He is obviously worried about what they will think of him if they were to find out he didn't have sex with her. It's sad, but it's most likely the truth.

Or how about this: anyone who hasn't lied about having sex, like myself, has no idea what would cause someone to do so. Final answer.

Guys.. What was that one thing that really sparked an interest??
Posted: 8/17/2008 2:56:31 AM
If I pick up on a genuine, honest-to-goodness concern and compassion for people coupled with the loving, caring qualities you only find in the good-hearted motherly type that feels the need and want to help others and right wrongs, I am more than interested.

A respect and admiration for nature, concern for the world, drawing meaning and wisdom from all things beautiful and feeling the same thing I feel when she hears my favorite band only go to intensify my feelings.

If her smile makes my heart race, her laugh makes me melt, her intelligence makes me dream and the way she moves makes me want to write a song, you may as well stick a fork in me; I'm done.

If all the above are true and I can look in to her eyes and see her dreams, I have to hold myself back from getting down on one knee.

If I can see her raising my children, I'm in love.

I know that's more than one thing, but that's because there aren't enough words in the world to explain love.

boobs
Posted: 8/17/2008 2:23:00 AM
Don't fall to the whims of society and think that small tits are a bad thing.

I, personally, think less of a woman who has fake tits because it shows that she is succumbing to the stereotypes and fallacies that advertising and various sources of media perpetuate upon the masses. I associate fake tits with low self-esteem and an absence of a unique personality; someone who makes decisions based on what they believe others want. Who wants to date a drone?

To me, being comfortable with who you are and what you have is a much bigger turn-on than the false sense of confidence gained from fake tits.

Think of what kind of guys you will attract with fakies: appearance whores who are only interested in your massive chesticles and could give two sh*ts about what's inside.

Besides, imagine what they will look like when you get older, I would think something like a tube sock full of quarters slapping against your belly button. Tell me that's something you want.

Before I get all worked up, please, just do us guys a favor and don't let some quack doctor slice up those nice boobs of yours and insert a sack of gelatinous atomic number 14 that feels nothing like the real thing. Don't think we can't tell the difference.

And if you do decide to get the fakies, you might as well bleach your hair, hit the tanning salon and move to Southern California so we won't be able to tell you apart from anyone else.

I hope you make the right decision.

Current polls favor McCain, but. . .
Posted: 8/16/2008 4:18:45 AM
OK, so if the calling largely depends on land lines, and most of the new voters don't own land lines, but cell phones, I have a couple of questions:

A.) Why was Obama in the lead earlier this year, by overwhelming margins if the calling relied largely on land lines?

B.) Did the pollsters use land lines in earlier polls, or did they forget how to call cell phones?

A.) Asking 'why' is like asking 'how'. It's a poll, and those were the results. Simple as that.

B.) I believe this question requires no answer.

I think you failed to grasp the meaning of the OP's post. He is simply providing the conjecture that there are many people that the polls don't speak for, and that a majority of them, he believes, will vote for Obama. Keep in mind, conjecture.
Your questions were completely irrelevant to the intended meaning of his post, and overwhelmingly asinine to boot.
Please, think before you type.

I am also hearing that a LOT of people plan to vote for alternative candidates.

Indeed, I being one of them.

this country
Posted: 8/16/2008 3:57:02 AM
I love my country, loathe my government.
Despite what others would have you believe, they are two separate entities.
On one hand we have my country, which was founded on principles of moral and social equality, freedom, inherent rights and self-governance. All of which are eloquently summed up in a wonderful document called the Constitution.
On the other hand, we have my government, which has skewed the interpretation of this document to wrest control of my country from the people and place it into the hands of a select few that grow ridiculously rich off of the toil and blood of the very people which the document was meant to protect.
A f*cked up situation, indeed.
The power of America still lies in the hands of its citizens, they've just done a really good job of convincing us otherwise.
If only my country could be governed by our Constitution once again....oh, how sweet the thought...

Worst Sports Fans in America

5. Chicago Cubs (MLB) - They are some of the--if not the most--bitter sports fans you will EVER encounter. They are always upset about something and prolly drunk and ready to start a fight over anything, even long lines at the concession stands.

That's because their team hasn't won the World Series in a century. I'd be bitter, too.

Wave surfing suggestions
Posted: 8/16/2008 3:25:30 AM
If there is any way to have a report that states approximately how many surfers are currently in any given area would be sweet.
You should also give wind speeds and direction, that will tailor your website to include the kite surfers, too.
Oh yeah, also an approximate number of bikini-clad hotties in any given area would be a nice addition.
Good luck.

We are little airy creatures,
All of different voice and features;
One of us in glass is set,
One of us you'll find in jet,
T'other you may see in tin,
And the fourth a box within;
If the fifth you should pursue,
It can never fly from you.

A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

Women are always horny, just like men. The only difference is their willingness to admit it to strangers. Very few women will. Very few men won't.
