Popular POF Member Passes Away - Tragically
Posted: 5/20/2009 5:42:48 PM
Haven't been here "In POF land" for years.

Anyway, I really cant speak for the others who spent the weekend with him , or rather I shouldn't, but I will. at least I will try.

We loved him dearly
We had an outstanding Friday and Saturday with him
We wish we could go back in time and change just one thing or two, or whatever it would have taken to make this not happen.
We lived through a nightmare
We loved him dearly

Yeah I agree Sama, that one camp cop was a frickin idiot, added fuel to the fire so to speak and I really got my back up, which probably didnt help.
Anyway, provincial campgrounds are pretty much rule laden...I have seen some private campsites that are that way too tho! Someone said earlier it was just a timing thing, we had someone complain the night before(about..ahem...that OTHER site I might add! hehe)
So really, it was annoying, but we did get away with partying Friday AND Saturday night, I knew it would catch up with us!

Where is Thurston Meadows? Is there anything in the Abby or Chilliwack area(must be)Or Hope. ( That is halfway)
Look forward to doing it again!

Yeah, what she said, that is alcohol abuse!!^^^^
Well at least it came out.
Silky, I really didnt get to talk to you at all, I feel regretful that I didnt get to know everybody, but I am glad we got to meet. Perhaps next time I will do more visiting.
Cheers all.
(note to self, if I have 20 + shooters on Friday night I am PROBABLY going to be a little antisocial for the next two days...oh dear!)

okay you two, you have been 'enabled"

But why do all the pictures suck???? I mean these pics i posted are from 3 different people/cameras, so they shouldnt all be blurry!!??

edit: the red wine came out of all my clothes....hahahahaha
...and hopefully they came out of the owner of the wines' clothes as well...hate to point it out but you spilled on her first! hahahaha.

I have a few stains to get out of clothes myself(no rude comments here!)
Black Sambuca actually! and the regular campfire stuff...meh, they are camping clothes after all.

WOW, the best thing that got left behind was the beer bong! Guess they dont want it anymore. I have it in a safe place though...thinking about selling it on ebay...

How do I enable people to post pics? I am never on here anymore so if I ever knew I forget I guess
I'll try and figure it out.
I am thinking that if you coastal people do Thurston meadows it might be my turn to travel instead. Are they "looser" on the rules there? Provincial Parks are pretty stuffy that way, but they are beautiful.

Anyway, I do hope the friends, drinks, games, somehow made it worthwhile for you all.

EDIT: I think I got it figured out but the pics are all blurry, can someone enlighten me? Its not just my pics either...???????

Wow, thanks you all for participating in the practice camp this weekend!
Yes Still Flying, thanks for getting me pumped..heehee
Was great to see some people I only see once a year and really great to meet so many awesome new additions to the shuswap campout. Hope you all come back next year!

It was almost more like "Plenty of Couples" than "Plenty of Fish" this year, especially with some interesting hook-ups...shhh, mums the word(cough, hows the tux coming Puck, cough?) I was almost single this weekend too though.

Sami, those shooter glasses are absolutely PERFECT for camping...we still have them, plus it seems we acquired a couple of others so if anyone is missing them...
I also ended up with a random steak knife and a pair of sunglassses.

And extreme bocce in the rain...yay, nothing like it huh! thanks for a good time to my bocce friends!

I had waaaayy too many shooters Friday night so was a bit anti-social Saturday night, but after about 12 hours sleep had fun Sunday again.

Hope everyone made it home safely...I'll post some pictures soon.

Cheers!

There are camp cops remember.

Cheers

Stay on the highway from Vancouver, thru Kamloops, past Chase, then turn right at the Squilax-Anglemont rd exchange. it is a sharp right and up a hill, over a highway overpass and across the river...stay on that road, you will cross two more small bridges, windy road at times, then you will end up in Scotch Creek. Shuswap Lake Provincial Park will be on your right, It is across the street from Franks campground and a big log-style store.(Scotch Creek Store i believe)
There are two message boards, one right at the start, before you go thru the line up to pay. Then another right after. I will put messages on both and look for messages from you all.
Spud, that is where you and I first met. I remember it well.
And remember, Google is your friend!

Hi all!

Thanks for being my Wingman Puckbaby!!

OMG, I cant believe I forgot about Pick-your-poison! i have been so wrapped up in my own little world, sheesh.

Sama! I was looking forward to partying with you! Maybe you'll feel like it as the weekend gets closer? Did you book a site already??

Still flying and Ardi...I totally intend on getting drunk as well, what a coincidence.

I will bring a liqueur and some shooter glasses for pick-your-poison. i think it is a good friday night activity...

Saturday night is the potluck and perhaps I will prepare the name game again...or is that too much thinking while drinking? (I'm a poet and didnt know it)

I am preparing Caribbean Lemon Chicken. ....I am going to marinade tomorrow!. Hope my BBQ works this year, had some issues last year, but the chicken did get cooked first!

Bocce, yes, I will try and remember my bocce set for a saturday/sunday activity... I am also planning on bringing my rollerblades.

Can someone else bring shooter glasses as well? Actually now that I think of it is good if each person brings their own to pick-ur-poison so it is always the one you drink out of. If you want to get more plastered faster, bigger shooter glass...pretty simple!(I had like 2 1/2 oz ones last year)

Puckstopper will you bring your bocce set as well?
Looking forward to it!

puck_stopper...whatever we need from the store across the street that day

regors57... Deserts, various deserts -- don't eat too much dinner.
silky0774...something Buffalo (was going to bring prairie oysters but couldn't catch the bull)
laffingone: a surprise(don't know yet) or caesar salad
still flying solo: veggie platter and dip.
itsfun2beme.... potato salad
funlovingdad:couple of pies from safeway
Soulfishy: Carribean Lemon Chicken

I took dennis and his deer roast off(boohoo) because he sounded pretty adamant he wasnt coming. too bad...but i left sama on cause she was wavering...

Pick your poison signup:
Soulfishy: Banana Liqueur or something else fruity

Thanks Ardi for really stepping up to the plate and helping people out BTW! you rock!

Shuswap Lake Provincial Park
Reservation date is April 1st at discovercamping ....I will post my reservation site # and you can tag it in your reservation and hopefully we will all camp fairly close to each other.
I want to encourage people to contact me on that other site...or maybe we can have a POF contact person cause I dont spend much time here anymore.

Yay camping!

pof skating party in Kamloops ????
Posted: 1/17/2008 12:35:14 AM
I'm interested. I have gone to MacArthur a couple of times and Interior Savings once this year. Pretty out of shape and need to do it WAY more. Skating outside is the best.
Anyone interested in a "practice skate" at MacArthur rink from 11:30 - 1:00 on Friday. Adults only, no sticks, 100%free of charge.....

Is BC the least spiritual, most pro-gay marriage province?
Posted: 7/28/2007 1:15:58 PM
I liked this post so much I thought it worth repeating, and i dont think I could have said it better myself.....

holey moley.........i'm exhausted by reading the posts on this forum......mmm......i'm an athiest bisexual who has had healthy monogomous relationships........i'm more respectful and live a more so called 'christian' life than most christians I have ever met in my life.......a tv show stating that B.C. is non religious and open to other lifestyles is kinda a plus in my book......being open to other lifestyles means that people of all races and all beliefs can feel free and safe to live here.......I have had friends from tons of different religions and backgrounds......I would have it no other way......the people I am the most scared of are the people who start a statement by saying 'i'm not judgemental or making any judgements on people' and then proceed to say why everyone else is wrong and basically going to hell.......gay people getting married isn't going to harm anyone else......harm their religion.....harm their neighbourhood......B.C. will just have a reputation for being a welcoming place for everyone........

A caution: Taking an AS kid to a regular psych will cause you nothing but grief, as AS people simply do not respond or perceive things the same way NT's (Neuro-Typicals) do, and so they will be viewed as "wrong" and "ill" by the regular psych community

I have to disagree; we only have one child psychiatrist available to us here and he was very well versed on the disorder/spectrum. I guess if you have a choice shop around but most of us in BC don't.
My son is still having his ups and downs but it appears things are looking up for him...he will be going to Quebec as an exchange student this summer...mom is pretty nervous but he is "up' for the challenge!
I have talked him into taking a normal suitcase with a telescopic handle instead of the blue hard case circa 1970 suitcase with the jiffy marker graffiti all over it that he takes with him everywhere he goes.(yes, even to school, to the mall etc...) So one for me.....(i pick my battles )

RIVER FLOAT IN DA LOOPS .....JULY 28TH
Posted: 6/12/2007 11:23:01 AM
Go to the singles events opening page. As soon as you open the party page there will be a line at the top left "create party thread"

It's easy. You do know how to open the singles events page right? On the BC page I believe it is in red...? Above the words"event date" on the left, there will be blue writing that says"create party thread". You dont have to ask the mods to do it for you anymore.

love to do this in Penticton
Oh yeah!! I used to live in Penticton and we did it a couple of times per summer. So fun! And much more controled than the river here. In fact the Channel in Penticton is the only place I HAVE done this. Lots of good memories!

Hope to see this on the party thread page soon,

Edit: Yes it is in red and says "British Columbia Singles Events" ...open it and create a party thread...easy. If you are having trouble on your computer for some reason let me know.

RIVER FLOAT IN DA LOOPS .....JULY 28TH
Posted: 6/10/2007 11:33:29 AM
Hi Missy

Go to the singles events opening page. As soon as you open the party page there will be a line at the top left "create party thread" click on that and post away. It's alot easier now than it used to be when you had to ask a mod.

BTW, that would be really fun. I know there is a group that got together last year and did it. For me, the weather has to get alot hotter and the river way lower....which I am assuming it will be by then, so all's good!

heehee, we got wet! Just a bit....it was still fun.

Just two of us. we met some runners, there was a run for the cure thing going on too.

So some people have shown interest but not shown up. I will post one more and if there isnt any more participation I will quit posting and just go. With Merlin of course.

Cheers all

Here's the latest update on the weather:

Today: Showers. Wind becoming west 20 km/h this afternoon. Temperature steady near 15. UV index 3 or moderate.
Tonight: A few showers ending overnight then cloudy. Wind west 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low 11.
Thursday: Cloudy. 40 percent chance of showers in the morning and afternoon. High 19.
Friday: Sunny. Low 11. High 24.
Saturday: Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. Low 14. High 21.
Sunday: A mix of sun and cloud. Low 18. High 24.

So looks like Sunday might be the better day but we'll know by noon on Saturday whether we are good to go or not. If it's not pouring I'll just dress in layers and go anyway.
Gotta get some exercise!
