It's called tax. For those of you who don't know how this works, the waiter is taxed on 15% of the ticket, reguardless of whether they are tipped or not. This means that if the ticket equals a hair under $100, and the waiter makes $2.15 an hour, most likely, they just PAYED to wait on that table if they don't recieve their 15% tip.


Well.....the entire tab may/will be counted in what your income is projected on any shift in the service business for tax purposes.It's a little like this....if you ring $500 there is a good chance you made some tips.Since MO restaurant workers have a pro-rated minimum guarantee,and I guess other states may be similar, the employee isn't being held responsible for all the funds...he's gonna get paid his base and if he can't make the difference on what he gets taxed....time for a new job.There are those nights that they are way ahead of the curve and I'm pretty sure thay don't want that looked into......but in MO the tip that's added by management to groups or any mandatory tip isn't even legal[semi reliable info]so that pont may be moot.

The kid "missed" court ordered visits...he openly declared his refusal.
Don't do something the court tells you to do and things happen.You may not like what happens. Simple! Kid got something he deserved/earned.
Why/how did someone from the UK even pick up on this except......oh well......doesn't matter.

Just curious.....how sympathetic would all of the whiners be if the dad "missed" a few months of support money.....assuming that's in the orders?


She's right. Non-custodial parents don't get sent to jail for not spending time with their children. How often do kids sit around waiting for a non-custodial parent to show up for a visit, only to wait in vain? The parent is not sent to jail for that neglect and disappointment. Excellent point, ooobaby.


Not all the time I'm sure....... but aren't MOST non-custodial parents ..."non-custodial" ...because they weren't that involved to begin with or were a threat to the safety and health of the little darling?So is the kid really being treated any different than before?

I did not look at your location, but if you live in America, this is dead wrong. Waiters/waitresses are charged for a 15% tip. If you don't tip, they end up PAYING to wait on you, and that's just crap.


Huummhhh...I live in America and know a few friends who work in the same type restaurant.......
They never heard of this...where does this happen.....


And $73 for 6 people......$12 each?You can't get a good meal...or drinks for $12 anywhere I've been....burger and a beer....maybe but certainly not a sit down "meal".

Does your school cafeteria provide "re-usable" ,read that as metal,knives,forks and spoons?Do they actually clean and sanitise the stuff?
If not and they provide plastic utensils.....sue the daylights out of them[that will make the "sue someone,anyone" happy folks content]because of the obvious tax payer waste and all the repercussions of that plastic in the landfills for hundreds of years to coms[wow....I almost sounded green for a moment]and see if they will dismiss as a trade-off.

And since you can buy a copy of the report[public record]it would seem as if he could very easily present this to a private sector lawyer and be able to show his innocence.After all.....isn't that the tenet we go by in this country[even Kansas]...innocent til proven guilty?Or are there just more shyster lawyers in KS than anywhere[LA,NYC,Detroit,DC?]else in the land.
Just head to Bryant's and get some lunch and this will all be better.

Because a “certain segment”, who controls most of the mainstream media, is once again trying to paint the racist picture on another “certain segment”.



This is so damn funny.......guess what.....YouTube exists in this modern day and age.....and so does....uh...uh....oh yeah....blogs and local papers and....well.....lots of avenues for this to make the public eye without that "certain segment" catching on.

The following is a minimal Miranda warning, as outlined in the Miranda v Arizona case.

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense."

The following is a much more verbose Miranda warning, designed to cover all bases that a detainee might encounter while in police custody. A detainee may be asked to sign a statement acknowledging the following.

"You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. Do you understand?
Anything you do say may be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand?
You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future. Do you understand?

The above may explain why there may be bullshit in this story as noted below.



He was charged by the city of Overland Park, Ks. and could not find a lawyer who would take his case, unless he pled guilty, ( a not guilty plea required a $10,000 retainer,

Eagle Scout/Soldier Suspended from High School

funny how conservatives are gungho for zero tolerance until it effects them. then not so much.


No....a lot of us [conservatives] understand it and accept it as policy.
This story just has too many holes in it...why was he questioned[really why?] in the first place.....why the additional time added to the punishment[were there cases before setting a precedent for the additional time?]......are these parameters laid out as "mandatory" punishment in some school manual that none of us are aware of?
Hey....he's an Eagle Scout....he should be prepared....and sometime that means understanding compromises must be made in your life.Like paying attention to the rules of your workplace or school.He goofed and is paying the price....it just seems the "price tag" wasn't a fixed item.


This is all very one sided and his being an Eagle Scout has nothing to do with it. As a former high school teacher in inner city and small town schools in the US, I know there is a big possibility that weapons have been used in parking lot fights. The kids are frequently getting in fights in the school parking lots. If kids keep weapons in their cars, a weapon can be easily become part of one of those fights. So saying he has it locked in his car is irrelevant, as is the fact he is a Scout. The same rules apply for everyone.



And as much as I hate this....she has a valid point........The same rules should apply to everyone.
But I'm guessing[and yes,I live and work in a big bad city full of stupid people doing stupid things] that if you lined up 20 Eagle Scouts and 20 inner city kids.....the scouts would lose.After all...what good does it do to bring a knife to a gunfight?And that's more likely what you would find in one of those line-ups.Had this been a "criminal" case being handled by a judge....The fact of his being a scout would have gone a long way towards.....CHARACTER.So YES....it does have something to do with it.Even to a school board.....

Folks....he's DEAD....and FINALLY in the ground...........and now the family and creditors can go about the business of stabbing each other.........can't we just leave it that way??????
We'll be reading about those damn kids often enough in the years to come[something like some other dead guy....Presley I think was his name]......let's take a break for awhile.
