Now we are just getting into a flaming war. Really, what one person likes another doesn't, that's why we are all different.

Which is perfectly acceptable. However, linking long hair to homosexuality and laziness is absolutely asinine.

As far as long hair being feminine, of course it is,

I disagree. Certain people have been *conditioned* to think of it as feminine, but that's the thing about conditioning. If a particular mindset is forced upon society long enough, there will be those who accept it as "the norm".

Let's go back 20 years. White men with bald heads were not terribly common, and were often associated with Nazi skinheads, or it was assumed they were going through chemotherapy.

But something happened along the way from then to now, didn't it?

The bottom line is, making character or sexual assessements of people based on something as trivial as hair or lack of it is rather ignorant.

I disagree!!! They look lazy and kind of gay....

Oh, yes. Because long hair is just all the rage in the gay community, isn't it?

And the maintenance aspects kind of piss on your "lazy" theory.

How do you feel about Taylor Swift.
Posted: 11/12/2009 4:24:25 PM
She's a cute girl. Hell, she's even a likeable girl. However, I do not understand all the mania surrounding her.

Cuteness and likeability are just not enough for me personally to think of her as worthy of SO many awards. I just don't think she's a good live singer.

Wynonna is right about it all being too much too soon. (However, coming from her, it makes her look like a bitter has-been.)

But it's the fault of the labels. They no longer sign artists, nurture them, and let them grow into success. If they're not chart topping megastars on their first release, they're usually canned.

UFC 101: Florian vs. Penn
Posted: 8/3/2009 6:34:50 AM
I want Florian to win, but I don't think he will. I've lost all respect for Penn.

As for Silva/Griffin, I'm picking Silva. Silva knows he can't pull another Dance Fever routine like he has in this last two fights. Griffin will be pressing too hard to allow that to happen.

But in the end, Silva's superior skill set will lead him to victory.

is it possible to never or rarely fight?
Posted: 3/16/2009 2:17:36 PM
Yes.

I was in a relationship for almost 6 years, and can't recall a single heated argument with her. It was like being with one of my male friends, but she was female, of course.

Then again, I took my time getting to know her to discover just how compatible we were, instead of jumping in head first letting lust guide the way.

Fear of Generic Pop Music Taking Over...
Posted: 3/4/2009 5:06:15 PM
People are never going to be satisfied. On one hand, they complain about pop music and the lack of exposure their favorite more obscure artists receive, yet many of them would be among the first to abandon these bands the instant they achieved any kind of mainstream recognition.

"Oh no! They're not MY band anymore! All the mall kids listen to them now! Those sellouts!"

Furthermore, alternatives to pop will ALWAYS exist. Always. So, I don't see what the concern is over.

A total apples and oranges situation here. Tommy Lee and Neil Peart are two completely different drummers.

But Neil Peart overrated? He wishes he could fill like Tommy Lee does?? That's hysterical.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Neil is perfectly satisfied with his own fills over Tommy's.

New Metallica album
Posted: 2/9/2009 6:41:08 PM
Metallica handled the entire Napster situation very poorly. They essentially spied on their fans. That's despicable, in my opinion.

Not being a musician? I've been a musician over 25 years now.

And I never said Paris Hilton's album was on any top selling of all time list. My point was that it sold. It may have sold only 30,000 for all I know, but that's 30,000 too many considering she hasn't a shred of singing ability.

What was so great about Elvis Presley

He didn't reinvent the wheel musically, but that doesn't really matter. Everyone is influenced by something or someone.

New Metallica album
Posted: 2/8/2009 9:05:36 PM

And to all the people who want to criticize them, come back when you've sold 10 million albums lol!

Album sales are no measuring stick for talent. Milli Vanilli, anyone? Paris Hilton, anyone?

And do I have to be a chef to say I don't like a specific dish? Of course not. So, I shouldn't have to sell 10 million records to crticize a band or artist.

My issue with Metallica has been their hypocrisy. They've given into damn near everything they once claimed to have disdain for, and I don't respect that at all.

journey
Posted: 2/8/2009 6:26:50 PM

Journey was a band started by Gregg Rolie and Neal Schoen. Gregg decided to leave the band and go to work with his dad. He wanted to leave the music scene. That was when Perry came in to do vocals. I never cared for Perry. I don't listen to any Journey without Gregg. Perry had a lousy voice and he turned Journey into a more pop sounding band. Gregg and Neal meant for Journey to be a real rock band.

A few years later Ross and Gregg put a band together called The Storm (heavy rock but not quite metal). The Storm cut 2 albums both of which were taken out of distribution almost as soon as the albums were released.

I have both releases from The Storm, and they're as pop (if not more) as anything Journey ever did. Not to mention, Kenny Chalfant, the singer for the side project, sounded so much like Perry, that many thought it was Perry when their first single hit the airwaves.

In my opinion, Journey didn't become less "rock" when Perry joined the band. They simply updated their sound. It's just that their ballads were the most successful. It's not like they went from being Metallica to Lawrence Welk.

I've been with the sport since UFC 1, and the last two years have been full of surprises that I'm sure many didn't see coming.

Gonzaga dropping Cro Cop in brutal fashion, a former WWE wrestler becoming champion, Mir dominating Nog, Rampage making quick work of Silva, Serra taking the belt from GSP, just to name a few.

This sport is so unpredictable that I won't even make "certain" predictions for Fedor fights.

How should a very fit 40 year old dress?
Posted: 1/28/2009 11:01:35 AM
I think the biggest problem is we now have 40 something year old women idolizing 20 year olds. Shouldn't it be the other way around??? Who the hell do these younger girls have to look up to?? Older women trying to imitate them. That's who.

There was a time when things weren't like this, and it wasn't that long ago. Somewhere along the way, women forgot how to look sexy and glamourous without looking like a stripper.

But hell, we live in a society today that glorifies this crap, and in general, women are being treated worse than ever before and feeling less respected.

I'm sure it's just coincidence, though. Right?

I would make a list of all of Tito's blunders, but I don't want to be typing all night. I literally laughed out loud when he said "prime-ear" instead of premiere.

So, it looks like Barnett is next in line for Fedor. I just don't see Barnett winning.

I must say, that was a great event. The Lindland knockout was pretty scary. I've never seen anything like that before. Vitor looked like his old self tonight.

The Fedor knockout. Holy sh*t. I didn't even see it the first time around. I had no idea what the hell happened.

For sheer entertainment value alone, this was spectacular. Tito's horrible commentary added comedic value on top of it all.

women with a lot of male friends
Posted: 1/24/2009 9:38:00 AM

all im saying is that for you to be "friends" one of the three HAS to apply...

he is gay
he is not attracted to you
he is attracted to you, but he is getting sex from someone who he feels is better than you.

This is correct. Frankly, I don't know how it can be disputed.

But hey, apparently women know and understand more about men than men do.

Believe it or not, in all my years, I had never watched an entire Cardinals game until yesterday. And I must say, Fitzgerald has me concerned. He's pretty damn impressive. Hopefully, the awesome Steelers defense can shut him down.

Win or lose, it's going to be a bummer to see this season end. There was a lot of great Steeler football played this year.

None for men? Can you imagine a 42 year old man with his hair dyed pink, his nose, lip, and eyebrow pierced, rocking ripped jeans and a skull and crossbones t-shirt? He would be a laughing stock.

I'm all for not letting others decide how you should look, but at the same time, I can't help but laugh at 40-something women desperately trying to mold themselves after the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

do people plan dates anymore?
Posted: 1/17/2009 8:58:02 AM

I think most guys prefer to "hang out" so they don`t have to be obligated to make plans, spend money, dress up, or try to impress. They like to call you a friend because they want to be non committal. Both are basically to try to have their cake and eat it to, and get you in that FWB zone. If you hang out with a friend and sex just happens, Oh well, that`s a FWB. If you actually date and sex happens, it might be considered a relationship, and as we all know, most men would much more prefer the FWB thing where they don`t have to do anything or be held accountable.

With your sunny disposition, I can't envision you receiving anything less than a marriage proposal from a man the very second he meets you.

Have you found and then lost your soulmate?
Posted: 1/17/2009 1:08:06 AM

Bah I could go on forever, but I think I've made a good enough stab at this beast that continues to rear its ugly head... There is no such thing as a soulmate, we fall in love with those around us, and hope for the best. Perhaps it is human ego that likes to build things up with words like "fated" or "pre-destined", but the simple fact of the matter is you met up by chance or desire, found some common ground, and hopefully worked and sacrificed together to make it work, but it could have happened with the next person down the road so long as they met up to your personal preferences... Each love is different in its own way, and you could find it with different people...

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It's good to see a fellow realist. It's sad to think we are perceived as unromantic and pessimistic for merely not living in a land of Fairy Tales.

I've never been a believer in the concept of "soulmates", either, or the notion that's there's a pre-destined great love for everyone . Too many people die without even so much as falling in love with someone for this to be true.

As you said, it's about chance, but so many have opted not to believe in it.

I could mean many things, but it was still a juvenile thing to say. If a woman ever said that to me, I would question her about it immediately.

There are women out there who are quick to turn to their super-hero wanna-be male friends when a guy breaks up with her, even if the breakup is justified. Next thing you know, these d*ckheads are at your front door.

I'm still content about the Steelers winning 3 years ago. I think a fan of a team starts really getting the Superbowl itch from their teams if they either haven't won it before or haven't won it in a long time like 10 or more years, then the disappointment factor when your team loses in the playoffs goes up 10 fold.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Their Super Bowl win 3 years ago was satisfying enough to last me a lifetime. I saw them win it back in 1980, but I was only 10. I wanted to see them win at least one more in my lifetime. It sure took long enough.

I'm definitely hyped up over the possibilty of another one Super Bowl win this season, but I won't be *too* devastated now if it doesn't happen.

As for the game last night, they played great all around.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH COUNTRY MUSIC?
Posted: 1/10/2009 2:51:19 AM

yung country crap in the 90's? all downhill since then?? WTF are you talking about man??

Country music is HUGE!!

People who don't like it are VERY closeminded.

If any of you like Elvis, then well guess what? If it wasn't for artists like him, hank williams and Willie Nelson, country music today would be NOTHING!

I can name a bunch of great artists here, who sold more albums, had more #1 hits, and had better $$$ making tours than any other musical artists around.

80's metal crap and grunge are so over...

I was speaking in terms of quality, not sales. A lot of the "country" today is pop with steel guitars. A far cry from what the likes of Hank, Willie, Waylon, and Merle were doing years ago. THEY are country music.

Furthermore, not liking a specific genre of making doesn't make someone close minded. Surely, there's a genre you don't like. Does that make you close minded?

As for 80's music, it's certainly not over. There are many 80's acts currently touring, and they wouldn't be doing so if no one was attending the shows.

Right. It has nothing to do with OTHER PEOPLE who will look at them. They simply do it for no other reason than to admire "themselves" in the mirror.

words as bait
Posted: 1/8/2009 12:11:25 PM
Awww, the poor women here have it SO bad. My heart bleeds for them. Truly.

They have to do nothing more than be attractive and post their pictures to guarantee an onslaught of messages, while men in general have to be not only attractive, but must also dazzle women with words *immediately*.

F*ck that. Perhaps women might have better luck if they leave their "princess diva" complex at the door and stop expecting men to be a court jester, a college professor, and a romance novel writer in his first attempt at making any sort of contact with her.

Get over yourselves. Seriously. Be thankful that anyone gives a sh*t to contact you. You never know when those days may be gone. A simple "hey there, how are you?" might mean the world to you one day.

Question about Women and Progressive Rock/Metal.
Posted: 1/7/2009 1:11:20 AM
Women who like prog don't grow on trees, but they're out there. I know a few.

The reason you won't find many female fans is simply because you'll rarely find sugary sweet, easy to swallow, lovey dovey lyrics or sing along choruses in many of the songs.

The focus is primarily on musicianship. It's not the kind of music they can dance to, either. It's a bit difficult for them to shake their moneymaker to songs with odd time signatures and frequent changes.

But people really hate Kingdom Clone, as they are better known for recycled Led Zep riffs... and I love all things Zep, recycled or not.

I always thought Kingdom Come got a bad rap. Sure, the Zeppelin influence is quite obvious, but they were still a good band. And though I'm sure no Zeppelin fan wants to hear this, Lenny Wolf (singer for Kingdom Come) can sing circles around Robert Plant.

I've met Bret, and he was really cool, but this show is just unwatchable. It celebrates everything I loathe about modern day woman.

I had only seen commercials for the "Rock of Love". I never watched actually watched an episode, but I saw about ten minutes of his new show last night. Disgusting, but I guess he's just trying to survive.

Though he's widely considered one of the biggest pricks in the music industry (fairly, but sometimes unfairly), Axl Rose turned down an offer from VH1 to do a reality show of his own.

In fact, he said " I will pay VH1 $2 million to leave me the f*ck alone."

Flair is f*cking hilarious. His old WCW interviews with Gene Okerlund were hysterical.

Then a heckler would yell something at him, to which he would reply with "You shut your mouth, fat boy!"

Priceless.
