Yeah Mark. I didnt explain myself well. As per normal.
<div class="quote">it's all about the POWER!
Power, confidence, intelligence, dress.
Thats what I perceive as sexy. Some of the attributes anyway. Which is what I find sexy in Julia.

I guess it comes down to our perception of sexy.
Julia is sexy...it's all about the POWER!
Power, confidence, intelligence, dress.
Mind you till 30 seconds ago I had never really thought of her as sexy.

Your Mission - Should you Choose to Accept it

Well considering I am pretty boring and not really vindictive......
I have always loved the idea of prawns and fish hidden around the house. Sewn into the drapes/ curtain rods etc. 'Specially in summer. Oh how the would rot!
Worse part about a prank like this is I would never see the outcome. You wouldn't catch me hanging around an ex's place waiting for him to take me back.
The thought cracks me up though.

School Excursions.
Posted:
2/7/2008 11:03:12 PM
hi Naamah,
I think I know the ad you are refering to. It is a particular project of the Smith Family.
From what I know of the project, it helps underprivilaged Australian kids get the schooling and experiences of the majority. It helps pay for tutoring, school books and other expenses also required.
The ad really doesn't do the project justice, focusing on excusions, though I have no doubt this is a part of the project. Maybe this has been the focal point as some school camps (excursions) prices are getting ridiculously high in pricing. For example a friend mentioned today she had to find $450 to send her child on a primary school camp. My kids in upper high school ....I am looking at couple of grand each I think. These are part of the school curriculum and considered compulsory.
Woah!
My kids school does trips to NZ and other places. Its a great experience if you can afford to send your kids, or better still, they save and pay for it themselves. It is in no way compulsory or the norm. Out of 1000 kids, 20 may choose to do trip like this.
Answering your questions....
<div class="quote">On this advert asking for donations to pay for kids to go on excursions, they appealed on the basis of how hard it made it for kids to fit in socially if they couldn't go on an excursion. I was wondering whether people think it's valid to raise money for this? Will doing so merely fail to teach kids the reality that luxuries are sometimes out of reach and that you can't always have everything you want in life? And should schools be trying to take kids on these sorts of expensive trips anyway?
I don't think its a valid reason to give money to this project, but I think the project is good. Personally I think the advertising has let them down, but maybe they decided to talk in a language most parents would understand. The kids (and families) this project is aimed at don't have luxurys. If they did, they wouldn't be a participant. So in general I don't have a problem with it.
Should schools be taking kids on these types of expensive trips. I don't like that 'normal' school trips are expensive. It can hurt the budget badly- and kids are expected to participate. More subsidy on behalf of the school, or more planning from the school (less outside facilitators) can combat this. But, I dont have a problem whatsoever with expensive trips for those that can afford to go. Why should people who can afford to go be disadvantaged because not everyone can afford to participate? Cause, really thats Life!
My goodness, I've written a bloody book.

The main thing that shits me is sharing a site with diks that think they have to have music blaring till 3am and 8 cartons of Bundy between 6 people to enjoy themselves.

Living off the land
Posted:

I too grew up farming. Fresh milk straight from the vat, meat chickens, fresh pork, beef and lamb and home grown veges. I thought we were underprivelaged cause we rarely ate anything from a packet.
Home baked biscuits and apple pie with cream....mmmmmm.
These days I am living in town and grow my own veges still (picked my first cucumber for the season this morning). Nothing like growing your own food. I also dress my own meat when I can and make my own sausages. I just cant make myself buy lamb from Coles.
I have mates who run vege farms of different produce...... It would make most people squirm to see how much produce and the quality they have rejected. Nothing wrong with it. No wonder there is no money in farming. (Their chemical sheds are interesting to investigate also).

On this site, I wish to correspond with a few messages, see how we click via messaging and then go the "next" step and do the phone calls.
We all have different ideals and expectations using a site like this. We all want to 'click ' with someone special. For you, you wish to corrospond with messages and then calls etc.
Maybe the men messaging want to meet and then see where it goes.
I really dont see an issue here, just different ways initial contact,

Or try using an organisation that can track down parents and kids and get them meeting if both parties agree.
One such organisation in Australia is 'Jigsaw'.
They worked for our family, and only took a few months. I think (from memory) you join as a member or pay a fee for the service. It wasnt a huge amount. A google search should find the organisation. Be aware there are also different laws in each state regarding contacting the other party.
Good luck.

Why would she get him turned on and leave him hanging?
This was my first thought. He might be handling the situation very well, but I dont think your girlfriend is either. Surely she knows prior to foreplay that she is already tired?
If 'taking a break' means bringing out the half time oranges, then, him being a sooky la la - he is definately missing out.
I think they both need to play grown- ups.

I went to the travelling plastination exhibition touring last year, year before, and it was brilliant.
My kids, 9, 13, 14 came too, as did my neice and nephew 4 and 6.
I had no concerns taking them and didnt after the fact. It was very educational. I didnt find it gruesome at all.
Hope you enjoy the show.

Yeah I find this senario interesting. Announce desperate situation of abuse etc, send in the troops, though cut community development funding. I personally dont see how things can be improved in the long term without community capacity building and community education within the communities involved.

This guy actually told you about a conversation he had with his friend? I see red flags here.
#1 -- Look at the quality of the friends he chooses.
#2 -- He betrayed her friendship by repeating back to you what she said. What do you think he's telling her about your conversations with him??
Yep..I'd be more concerned with the issues above.

I cant pick a favourite character either, though I must say I really loved Ford and Zaphod.
I was really disappointed with the movie. That will teach me......when I was younger I refused to watch the movie version of a novel. Spent years of having people say "have you never seen 'blah blah' [insert movie title here]?"
I must be due to reread this for the squillionth time.

"seeya, have a nice life" - or something to that effect when it has been a permanent parting. Sometimes sad, othertimes not. Sometimes I felt emotional- but would be buggered if I would let them know that!

Hi Hilly,
I'm not sure of your kids ages, but things like home made burgers and pizzas go down well, and can be very healthy. Chips on the side aren't even a killer if you bake them in the oven, opposed to deep frying (wedges are good done like this). Sour cream is great on the side...my kids will even eat the light one!
I know when my kids are geting to much junk food I stop buying any for home (or reduce it greatly). I figure if kids get hungry enough they will eat the healhy stuff (fruit and stuff) or starve! (Not bloody likely)

Ditching the friends for the NEW LOVE
Posted:

Yeah Gypsy,
Same goes for family for me. I am close to may family and friends- so if a new love doesnt want do the family/ mates thing- I know it just wont work for me.
I wouldnt expect him to ditch his mates for me. I would expect to meet his friends and hang with them at times also.
At the start of a new relationship I would epect not to see my mates as often- they are to busy getting to know their new partner. I think its natural, particuarly during that 'honeymoon' period.

Dead Bodies Exhibition
Posted:
5/22/2007 6:33:46 PM
When I checked out the Dead Body exhibition, I must say I had a heard time grasping that the figures were real people and they were real bodies. The plasticiny process has the outcomes of the bodies seeming not unlike plastic dummies of some kind.
The exhibition itself was very tasteful and very educational. The bodies of the people were all unidentified and unidentifiable to both the public and any relatives who may have visited the exhibition. Apparently, (the German dude- I have forgotten his name), has a family visit for members of the family of those who have donated their bodies, so they can inspect the work done, though the bodies on display for this are still unidentified. Format is a group visit and viewing.
It would not worry me if a family member chose to have their body preserved and displayed in this way. It would be their wishes, and I'm a great believer of 'when your dead, your dead!'. Maybe this is a way of knowing you have done something productive with your life?

Yeah I would have Caves though it doesnt stand out in my memory amongst most of the bodies.
I loved the sliced male and female between perspex- would have been about 8 - 10 slices in each I guess!
Also the figure laying down, showing the blood vessels. I cannot imagine how pain stakingly long this procedure woud have been for the person seperating the vessels from flesh/fat/bone structure.

I happened to turn on the telly last night as I was crawling into bed, and a re-run of this series was showing on essa-b-essa.
Right in my face was a penis being cut from a male body. Now I am not particularly squimish, but the telly went off.
(I did end up going to the exhibition in Perth, and it was worth the hour and a half wait to go in. I would love to see it again. I took my kids and sister with her kids, all of varying ages, and everyone got something out of it. Brilliant stuff!)
